New York Mets were defeated by the Houston Astros


The New York Mets were defeated by the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in Florida and the final score was 12-2.  Robert Gsellman started for the Mets and he pitched ok but not great.  The offense had six hits but no one had more than a hit.   

Gsellman pitched two innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Gsellman took the loss.  Josh Edgin pitched an inning with a strikeout, Logan Taylor pitched an inning giving up three hits and five runs with three of them being earned and he walked two and struck out one.  Kevin McGowan pitched a perfect inning, Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts and David Roseboom pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts. 

Juan Lagares had an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Blake Tiberi had a hit, Phillip Evans had a hit and Travis Taijeron had a hit and drew a walk.  Tomas Nido had a hit, Tiberi hit a double and Cabrera hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Evans committed an error, Nido had a passed ball and Egin had a pickoff. 

In the first Yulieski Gurriel hit a two-run double to give the Astros a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Cabrera hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the fourth J.D. Davis drew an RBI walk to make it 3-1.  A passed ball made it 4-1 still in the fourth and Jake Marisnick hit a two-run single to make it 6-1.  George Springer hit a sac fly to push the lead to 7-1 still in the fourth.  In the fifth Lagares hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the seventh Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo homerun to make it an 8-2 game.  Colin Moran hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 9-2.  Tyler White hit an RBI single to give Houston a 10-2 lead in the seventh and in the eighth A.J. Reed hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 12-2 which was the final score.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals




The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 8-6.  Sean Gilmartin started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  There was no Met that had more than a hit. 

Gilmartin pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run.  He struck out a batter and took the loss.  Logan Taylor pitched two innings giving up a hit and no runs with a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a couple of strikeouts and Kevin McGowan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and four runs with a walk.  Adam Wilk pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he had a strikeout, Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a walk and he had a strikeout and Kyle Regnault pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks. 

T.J. Rivera had a hit, Matt Reynolds drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Gavin Cecchini had a hit and drew two walks, Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  Brandon Nimmo had an RBI, Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Dominic Smith had an RBI and drew two walks, Jay Bruce had a hit and Travis Taijeron had an RBI and drew a walk.  Ty Kelly had an RBI and drew two walks, Rene Rivera had a hit and Cespedes and Cecchini each hit a double.  The Mets were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Taijeron committed an error. 

In the second Bryce Harper hit a solo homerun to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Neftali Soto hit a two-run homerun to increase the Nationals lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Brian Goodwin hit an RBI ground out and it became a 4-0 lead for the Nationals.  Andrew Stevenson hit a two-run homer to push the lead to 6-0.  The Nationals made it 7-0 on a Matt Skole solo homerun.  In the bottom of the sixth Conforto hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-1.  Smith had an RBI walk in the eighth to cut it to 7-2.  Taijeron had an RBI walk to make it a 7-3 game and Kelly had an RBI walk to cut it to 7-4 all in the eighth inning.  In the ninth Brandon Snyder hit an RBI double to give the Nationals an 8-4 lead.  Nimmo hit an RBI ground out and Rosario had an RBI single in the ninth to cut the lead to 8-6 but that would be the final score of the game.

The New York Mets are shutout by Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 5-0.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and he didn't pitch that well, Sean Gilmartin pitched well out of the bullpen.  Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and the rest of the team only managed one hit. 

Colon pitched five innings giving up seven hits and five runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Gilmartin pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Colon took his second loss of the season. 

Clayton Kershaw started for the Dodgers and pitched a complete game shutout.  He gave up three hits and one walk with 13 strikeouts.  Kershaw earned his fifth win of the season. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Cabrera had two hits and David Wright drew a walk.  Granderson hit a double and the Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Chase Utley had three hits and an RBI, Cory Seager had a hit and Justin Turner had two hits and an RBI.  Adrian Gonzalez had a hit, Yasmani Grandal had a hit and three RBI and Grandal and Utley each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 2-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the first Turner hit an RBI single and Grandal hit a three run homerun giving the Dodgers a 4-0 lead.  In the second Utley hit a solo homerun making it 5-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams split the four game series and the Mets will head to Colorado to start a three game series on Friday night.

The New York Mets take down the Atlanta Braves 7-5



The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 7-5.  Sean Gilmartin started for the MEts and pitched three scoreless innings, most of the bullpen pitched well.  Alejandro De Aza led the offense with a couple of hits and an RBI. 

Gilmartin pitched three innings giving up four hits and he struck out two.  Stolmy Pimentel pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Chasen Bradford pitched an inning giving up six hits and four runs and Akeel Morris pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Jim Henderson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning. 

De Aza had two hits and an RBI, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Marc Krauss drew a walk.  Lucas Duda had a hit, Neil Walker had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Ty Kelly drew a walk, Johnny Monell had an RBI and drew two walks and Raywilly Gomez had a hit.  Travis Taijeron had two hits and two RBI, Danny Muno drew a walk and De Aza and Walker each hit a double.  The Mets were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Johnson committed an error. 

In the first Cespedes hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second De Aza hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Mets and Cespedes reached on a force attempt fielding error to make it a 3-0 game.  In the fifth Monell had an RBI walk to push the lead to 4-0 and Taijeron hit a two run single to give the Mets a 6-0 lead.  In the sixth Hector Olivera hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-1 and Jace Peterson grounded into a forceout to score another run.  Rio Ruiz had an RBI single and Willians Astudillo hit an RBI single to cut it to 6-4 all in the sixth inning.  In the seventh Olivera hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 6-5.  Gomez hit an RBI single in the seventh to push the lead to 7-5 and that was the final score. 

The Mets are now 2-1-1 and will play a split squad on Monday afternoon.  They will play at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida against the St. Louis Cardinals and at home against the Detroit Tigers.
