The New York Yankees win their second game in a row



The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and pitched six strong inning and the big three in the bullpen closed it out.  Carlos Beltran led the offense with three hits and Alex Rodriguez hit his first homerun in a month and his 696th of his career. 

Nova pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and four strikeouts and he earned his 7th win of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts, Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and Aroldis Chapman earned his 19th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a walk. 

Kevin Gausman pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  He lost his seventh game of the season.  Donnie Hart pitched an inning giving up a hit and  a walk and Chaz Roe pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Beltran had three hits and Brian McCann had an RBI and drew a walk.  Alex Rodriguez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Starlin Castro had a hit and Rob Refsnyder had a hit.  Beltran hit a double, Castro hit a double and Rodriguez hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Refsnyder was caught stealing and McCann committed an error. 

Adam Jones had a hit, Jonathan Schoop had a hit and an RBI and Manny Machado had a hit.  Mark Trumbo had a hit and drew a walk, J. J. Hardy drew a walk and Nolan Reimold drew two walks.  Ryan Flaherty had a hit and drew a walk.  Schoop hit a homerun and the Orioles were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Flaherty had a stolen base. 

In the second Rodriguez hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Schoop hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the third McCann hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead and that score would hold up. 

The Yankees have won two games in a row to get back to 500 and they will play three more games in this series.
