The New York Yankees win their third straight game



The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-1.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and pitched well and Anthony Swarzak in relief was great.  Didi Gregorius and Starlin Castro each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Eovaldi in his return to the rotation went 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout.  Eovaldi picked up his eighth win of the season.   Swarzak pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up no hits and no runs and he struck out two and Nick Goody pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Vance Worley pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  He took his first loss of the season.   Odrisamer Despaigne pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Donnie Hart pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Mychal Givens pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI and Carlos Beltran drew two walks.  Brian McCann drew a walk, Alex Rodriguez drew a walk and Gregorius had two hits and drew a walk.  Castro had two hits and four RBI, Chase Headley had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Rob Refsnyder drew a walk.  Castro hit a double and a homerun, Headley hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Refsnyder and Ellsbury each had a stolen base. 

Adam Jones had a hit, Joey Rickard had two hits and an RBI and Manny Machado drew a walk.  Pedro Alvarez had a hit, Ryan Flaherty drew a walk and Rickard hit a double.  The Orioles were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Joseph committed an error. 

In the second Castro hit a two run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Ellsbury hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Rickard hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 3-1.  Castro hit a two run double in the bottom of the sixth to increase the lead to 5-1.  Headley hit a two run homerun in the eighth to make it 7-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have won three straight games and taken the first two of this four game series.  They will play game three on Wednesday night.
