New York Mets continue to lose as they drop one in Arizona in extra innings


The New York Mets were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona and the final score was 5-4 in 11 innings.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and he pitched o and the bullpen was ok.  Jose Reyes and Wilmer Flores each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Josh Edgin pitched to two batters and retired them both, Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Addison Reed pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts and Rafael Montero lost his third game of the season giving up a hit and a run. 

Patrick Corbin pitched six innings giving up nine hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Andrew Chafin pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, J.J. Hoover pitched 2/3 of an inning walking one and Fernando Rodney pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Jorge De La Rosa pitched a perfect inning, Tom Wilhelmsen pitched an inning giving up two walks and he struck out one and won his first game of the season. 

Reyes had three hits and an RBI, Michael Conforto had a hit and wo RBI and Flores had three hits.  Jay Bruce had a hit, Kevin Plawecki drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI.  Matt Reynolds had a hit and drew two walks, Curtis Granderson had a hit and Lucas Duda drew a walk.  Reyes hit two doubles and Conforto and Lagares each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Granderson had a stolen base. 

Rey Fuentes had a hit, Chris Owings had a hit and an RBI and Paul Goldschmidt had a hit and drew a walk.  Jake Lamb had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks, Yasmany Tomas had a hit and an RBI and Chris Herrmann had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Nick Ahmed had a hit, Corbin drew a walk and Goldschmidt, Herrmann and Tomas each hit a double.  Fuentes hit a triple and Lamb and Herrmann each hit a homerun.  The Diamondbacks were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Fuentes had an outfield assist. 
In the first Conforto hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Owings hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Lamb hit a two-run homerun to give the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead.  In the fourth Lagares hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  Reyes hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Tomas hit an RBI double to tie the game at four.  In the 11th Herrmann hit a solo walk-off hom
