New York Mets blow lead and lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-4.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen wasn’t very good.  Rene Rivera had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Paul Sewald lost his fourth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs. 

Rich Hill pitched five innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Brandon Morrow pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and he won his fourth game of the season, Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Tony Watson pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Ross Stripling pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Neil Walker had a hit and R. Rivera had two hits and an RBI.  Conforto, Flores, Granderson and R. Rivera each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Granderson had a stolen base and was caught stealing.  R. Rivera had a passed ball and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Chris Taylor had a hit and an RBI, Corey Seager had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Justin Turner had two hits and an RBI.  Cody Bellinger had a hit and two RBI, Logan Forsythe drew two walks and Yasmani Grandal had a hit.  Yasiel Puig had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Kyle Farmer had a hit and Grandal hit a double and Taylor, Bellinger, Puig, Turner and Seager each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Seager committed an error and Hill had a pickoff. 

In the first Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Flores hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  Granderson hit a solo homerun and the lead was extended to 3-0.  In the sixth Taylor hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  Bellinger hit a two-run homerun and the game was tied at three.  In the seventh Puig hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Turner hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-3.  In the ninth Seager hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 7-3.  In the bottom of the ninth R. Rivera hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Mets defeat the San Francisco Giants


The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  The Mets bullpen was good and Wilmer Flores, Neil Walker and Rene Rivera each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up four hits and three runs.  He walked three and struck out 11.  Fernando Salas pitched to two batters retiring both and striking out one, Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Jeurys Familia earned his first win of the season pitching a perfect inning. 

Matt Moore pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out five.  George Kontos pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Steven Okert pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two and Derek Law pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks.  Josh Osich pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a run and a walk and he took his first loss of the season.  Hunter Strickland pitched giving up two hits without recording an out. 

Michael Conforto had a hit and drew two walks, T.J. Rivera had a hit and an RBI and Jay Bruce had a hit.  Flores had two hits, Walker had two hits and two RBI and Jose Reyes drew a walk.  R. Rivera had two hits, Juan Lagares drew a walk and deGrom had a hit.  Curtis Granderson had a hit and an RBI, Walker, Flores, T. Rivera and Granderson each hit a double.  The Mets were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Joe Panik had two hits, Brandon Belt drew a walk and Hunter Pence had a hit and two RBI.  Buster Posey had two hits and an RBI, Conor Gillaspie drew a walk and Gorkys Hernandez drew a walk.  Posey hit a double, Pence and Posey each hit a homerun.  The Giants were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Pence hit a two-run homerun to give the Giants a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Walker hit an RBI double to trim the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth T. Rivera hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  In the sixth Posey hit a solo homerun to give the Giants the lead at 3-2.  Granderson hit an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at three.  In the ninth Walker hit an RBI walk-off single to give the Mets a 4-3 victory. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

New York Mets rally for a victory over the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-7.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and was not good, the bullpen kept the Mets in the game.  T.J. Rivera led the offense with a couple of hits and three RBI and Wilmer Flores and Rene Rivera each had two hits as well. 

Montero pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Fernando Salas pitched to one batter and retired him and Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one.  Jerry Blevins won his second game of the season and he pitched an inning giving up a hit, Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning and earned his third save of the season. 

Tom Koehler pitched five innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Jarlin Garcia pitched a perfect inning, Brad Ziegler pitched giving up six hits and five runs without recording an out.  Ziegler lost his second game of the season and Kyle Barraclough pitched two innings walking two and striking out three. 

Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk, T. Rivera had two hits and three RBI and Jay Bruce drew a walk.  Curtis Granderson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Reyes had a hit.  R. Rivera had two hits and an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI, Reyes and T. Rivera each hit a double.  T. Rivera and Granderson each hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Bruce was caught stealing. 

Martin Prado had three hits and an RBI, Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Marcell Ozuna had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Justin Bour had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and J.T. Realmuto had a hit.  Miguel Rojas had three hits and two RBI, Stanton, Bour, Rojas and Ozuna each hit a double and the Marlins were 6-18 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Rojas and Gordon each had a stolen base. 

T. Rivera hit a solo homerun in the first to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Ozuna hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Prado hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead.  Stanton hit an RBI double and Bour hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 5-1.  Rojas hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Granderson hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-3.  In the seventh R. Rivera hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-4.  Cabrera hit an RBI single and T. Rivera hit a two-run double to tie the game at seven.  Flores drew an RBI walk to give the Mets an 8-7 lead and that would be the final score.   

New York Mets pound the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Suntrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 16-5.  Jacob deGrom started the game for the Mets and he didn’t pitch that well.  Michael Conforto, Rene Rivera and T.J. Rivera each had three hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with five walks and five strikeouts.  deGrom won his second game of the season.  Josh Edgin pitched a perfect inning with a  strikeout, Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Bartolo Colon lost his third game of the season pitching four innings and giving up seven hits and five runs with two walks.  Josh Collmenter pitched an inning giving up five hits and four runs with a strikeout, Ian Krol pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jason Motte pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Eric O’Flaherty pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and four runs with a walk and Matt Wisler pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout. 

Conforto had three hits and two RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit and drew two walks.  Neil Walker had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Curtis Granderson had two hits and an RBI and Jose Reyes had two hits and five RBI with a walk.  R. Rivera had three hits and three RBI, T. Rivera had three hits and deGrom had two hits and two RBI.  Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI, Conforto hit two doubles and Cabrera, Walker and Reyes each hit a double.  Granderson and T. Rivera each hit two doubles.  The Mets were 12-20 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  T. Rivera committed an error. 

Ender Inciarte drew a walk, Adonis Garcia had a hit and Freddi Freeman had a hit and an RBI.  Matt Kemp had a hit, Nick Markakis had a hit and Tyler Flowers had two hits and drew a walk.  Jace Peterson had a hit and two RBI, Dansby Swanson drew three walks and Emilio Bonifacio had a hit and two RBI.  Kurt Suzuki had a hit and Peterson hit a double and Bonifacio hit a triple.  The Braves were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Garcia committed an error and Markakis had an outfield assist. 

In the first Cabrera hit an RBI double and Walker hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the third Granderson hit an RBI double, Reyes an RBI single and R. Rivera an RBI single to make it 5-0.  In the bottom of the third Freeman hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the fourth Bonifacio hit a two-run triple to make it a 5-3 game.  In the fifth Reyes hit a sac fly and R. Rivera had an RBI single to make it 7-3 Mets.  deGrom hit a two-run single pushing the lead to 9-3.  In the bottom of the fifth Peterson hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 9-5.  In the eighth Reyes hit a three-run double, R. Rivera hit an RBI single and Lagares hit an RBI single to make it 14-5.  Conforto hit a two-run double making it a 16-5 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday night.

New York Mets are walked off by the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 3-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Lucas Duda and Rene Rivera each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out four.  Rafael Montero pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a couple of hits and a walk with a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning and Josh Edgin lost his first game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Edinson Volquez pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked four and struck out five.  Dustin McGowan pitched to one batter and retired him,  Jarlin Garcia pitched an inning walking one and striking out one and Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  David Phelps pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and A.J. Ramos earned his first win of the season pitching an inning with a walk. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Jay Bruce had a hit and drew a walk and Duda had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks.  Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI, Jose Reyes had a hit and drew two walks and Syndergaard drew a walk.  R. Rivera had two hits, Duda hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Cabrera committed an error and Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Dee Gordon had three hits and an RBI, J.T. Realmuto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Christian Yelich had an RBI.  Marcell Ozuna had a hit, Justin Bour had a hit and Miguel Rojas had three hits and drew a walk.  Tyler Moore had a hit, Realmuto hit a double and the Marlins were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gordon had a stolen base. 

In the first Yelich hit a sac fly to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the third Conforto hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Duda hit a solo homerun and it was 2-1 Mets.  Gordon hit an RBI single to tie the game at two in the fifth.  In the ninth Realmuto hit an RBI walk-off double to give the Marlins the 3-2 win. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday night.  The series will conclude on Sunday afternoon.

New York Mets are defeated by the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-2.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Curtis Granderson and Rene Rivera each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched four innings giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Wheeler took his first loss of the season.  Josh Smoker pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout, Rafael Montero pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with two strikeouts and Josh Edgin pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Wei-Yin Chen started for the Marlins and pitched six innings giving up seven hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Chen won his first game of the season.  Nick Wittgren pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Dustin McGowan pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and drew a walk.  Curtis Granderson had two hits and an RBI, Neil Walker had a hit and Jay Bruce drew a walk.  Rivera had two hits, Michael Conforto had a hit and Rivera and Granderson each hit a double.  Cespedes hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, A.J. Ellis drew a walk and Christian Yelich had two hits and two RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk, Justin Bour had a hit and drew two walks and Marcell Ozuna had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Derek Dietrich had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Adeiny Hechavarria had an RBI, Chen had a hit and Dietrich hit a triple and Yelich hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gordon had a stolen base. 

In the first Granderson hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Dietrich hit a two-run triple to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead.  Hechavarria hit an RBI ground out to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the third Yelich hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Ozuna hit an RBI single and Dietrich hit an RBI single to make it a 7-1 game.  Cespedes hit a solo homerun in the eighth to cut the lead to 7-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday evening and then play the finale on Sunday night.

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday afternoon in a split squad game.  The game took place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 5-0.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched well.  T.J. Rivera and Rene Rivera each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched five innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Wheeler won his first game of the season.  Chasen Bradford pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two, Kevin McGowan pitched a perfect inning and Logan Taylor pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out a batter.  Cory Burns pitched a perfect inning. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Luis Guillorme had a hit and Patrick Biondi had a hit and drew a walk.  Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk, Kevin Kaczmarski drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit and an RBI.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI, L.J. Mazzilli drew a walk and T.J. Rivera had two hits and three RBI.  Rene Rivera had two hits, Flores, R. Rivera and Guillorme each hit a double.  T. Rivera hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the sixth Bruce hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Flores hit an RBI double still in the sixth to extend the lead to 2-0, T. Rivera hit a three-run homerun and the lead was pushed to 5-0.  All the runs were scored in the sixth and 5-0 was the final.

New York Mets blow lead for second straight day as they fall to the Colorado Rockies



The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and was great and Jeurys Familia blew his second straight save.  Neil Walker and Rene Rivera each had three hits. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up five hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Jerry Blevins struck out the only batter that he faced and Familia blew his second save of the season and lost his third game of the season.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Hansel Robles pitched to two batters and struck out one. 

Tyler Anderson pitched six innings giving up seven hits and a run with no walks and five strikeouts.  Jake McGee gave up two hits and a walk and didn't record an out, Scott Oberg pitched an inning striking out one and Jordan Lyles pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one and he won his third game of the season.  Carlos Estevez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  

Wilmer Flores had a hit, Walker had three hits and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit.  James Loney had a hit, Rivera had three hits and an RBI and Alejandro De Aza had a hit.  Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk, Rivera hit two doubles and Walker and De Aza each hit a double.  The Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Loney committed an error. 

Charlie Blackmon drew a walk, D.J. LeMahieu had a hit and Carlos Gonzalez had a hit.  Trevor Story had two hits, David Dahl had two hits and drew a walk and Daniel Descalso had a hit.  Tony Wolters had a hit, Anderson drew a walk and Cristhian Adames had an RBI.  The Rockies were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Story had a stolen base, Arenado committed an error and Gonzalez had an outfield assist. 

In the second Rivera hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Adames reached on an error and the game was tied at one.  A wild pitch made it 2-1 and that was the final score.  The teams will play game two on Friday night.

The New York Mets drop a series to the Chicago White Sox in 2-1 loss



The New York Mets were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched very well and the bullpen was very good as well.  Neil Walker and Rene Rivera each had two hits. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and ten strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out one, Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning and Antonio Bastardo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Jim Henderson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one, Hansel Robles pitched to one batter and retired him and Logan Verrett pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run and he lost his third game of the season. 

Miguel Gonzalez pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with five walks and four strikeouts.  Dan Jennings pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and struck out one, Zach Putnam pitched 1/3 of an inning striking out one and Zach Duke pitched an inning walking one and striking out the side.  Nate Jones pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, David Robertson pitched two innings giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout and Matt Albers pitched two innings giving up a hit and he walked two with a strikeout.  Albers won his second game of the season.

Adam Eaton drew a walk, Albers had a hit and Jose Abreu had an RBI and drew a walk.  Todd Frazier had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Brett Lawrie had two hits and J.B. Shuck had a hit and drew a walk.  Alex Avila had two hits, Avisail Garcia drew a walk and Lawrie and Albers each hit a double.  Frazier hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Abreu and Frazier were each caught stealing. 

In the second Rivera hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Frazier hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the 13th Abreu hit a sac fly to give the White Sox a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The White Sox took two out of three from the Mets and the Mets will be off on Thursday.
