New York Yankees lose in heartbreaking fashion in Game 6 as Houston Astros clinch the pennant


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Saturday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 5-3.  Chad Green was the opener for the Yankees and didn’t pitch well, most of the bullpen behind him pitched well.   Gio Urshela had three hits and Didi had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  J.A. Happ pitched two innings giving up a walk, Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a strikeout, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and Aroldis Chapman took the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Brad Peacock started for the Astros and he pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Josh James pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout, Ryan Pressly pitched to one batter and got him out and Jose Urquidy pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit, Joe Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and a strikeout and Roberto Osuna pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Osuna won the game and he also blew the save. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and two RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Edwin Encarnacion drew a walk, Gregorius had two hits and Gary Sanchez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Urshela had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Gregorius hit a double, Urshela and LeMahieu each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

George Springer drew two walks, Jose Altuve had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Michael Brantley had a hit and drew a walk.  Alex Bregman had an RBI and drew a walk, Yuli Gurriel had two hits and three RBI and Carlos Correa drew a walk.  Martin Maldonado had a hit, Altuve hit a double and Gurriel and Altuve each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Correa had a stolen base and Brantley had an outfield assist. 

In the first Gurriel hit a three-run homerun to give the Astros a 3-0 lead.  In the second Sanchez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Urshela hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Bregman hit an RBI ground out to push the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth LeMahieu hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at four.  In the bottom of the ninth Altuve hit a walk-off two-run homerun to win the game and the series for the Astros.  The final score was 6-4.

New York Yankees lose to the Toronto Blue Jays and lose series


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 6-4.  Chad Green served as the opener and pitched well and was followed by Jordan Montgomery who wasn’t great.  Montgomery was making his first appearance since May 1, 2018 after Tommy John surgery.  The Yankees offense only had six hits and no player had more than a hit. 

Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Montgomery pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with two strikeouts, Dellin Betances made his first appearance of the season pitching to two batters and striking them both out.  Nestor Cortes Jr. lost his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts, Ben Heller pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out three and Tyler Lyons pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Wilmer Font pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, T.J. Zeuch pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out five, Derek Law pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a strikeout, Sam Gaviglio pitched an inning giving up a walk and struck out two and Ken Giles pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Brett Gardner had a hit and drew two walks,Mike Ford drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  Tyler Wade had a hit, LeMahieu and Romine each hit a double.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base.  

Bo Bichette had two hits, Cavan Biggio drew a walk and Randall Grichuk had two hits and four RBI.  Teoscar Hernandez drew a walk, Reese McGuire had a hit and Brandon Drury had a hit.  Billy McKinney had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Richard Urena had a hit and an RBI.  Bichette, Drury and Urena each hit a double.  Grichuk hit two homeruns.  The Blue Jays were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Urena committed an error. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second McKinney hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Urena hit an RBI double to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead.  In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI double and Gregorius hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the third Grichuk hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the fifth Grichuk hit a three-run homerun to give the Blue Jays a 6-3 lead.  In the seventh LeMahieu reached on a throwing error and a run scored to cut the lead to 6-4 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three in the series but finished a long road trip at 6-4.  They will be off on Monday and will begin a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees defeat the Texas Rangers to win another home series


 The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1.  Chad Green served as the opener and pitched well, the bullpen also pitched well behind him.  Austin Romine had two hits to lead the offense and Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres each hit a homerun. 

Green pitched two scoreless innings giving up two hits and a walk.  He struck out four batters.  Luis Cessa picked up his second win of the season pitching three innings and giving up two hits and no runs with three strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Cory Gearrin pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Lance Lynn lost his 10th game of the season pitching five innings and giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Taylor Guerrieri pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Ian Gibaut pitched 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout and Luke Farrell pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks and Judge had a hit and two RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Mike Ford drew a walk and Torres had a hit and an RBI and Mike Tauchman had a hit and drew a walk.  Romine had two hits and an RBI and Tyler Wade drew a walk.  Romine hit a double and Judge and Torres each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Judge had an outfield assist. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, Elvis Andrus drew a walk and Willie Calhoun drew a walk.  Nick Solak had two hits, Rougned Odor had two hits and an RBI and Ronald Guzman had two hits.  Odor hit a homerun and the Rangers were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Judge hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun to push their lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Romine hit an RBI double to increase the lead to 4-0.  In the ninth Odor hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three in the series.  They have now gone 18-0-3 in their last 21 series at home.  They will have an off day on Thursday and head to Boston on Friday night to begin a four-game series.

New York Yankees are smacked around by the Cleveland Indians


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 19-5.  Chad Green was the opener and got creamed.  The rest of the bullpen wasn’t much better.  Didi Gregorius led the offense with three hits. 

Green pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and five runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Green lost his fourth game of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with four strikeouts, Chance Adams pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up 10 hits and five runs with three walks and two strikeouts and Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched to one batter and got him out.  Mike Ford pitched two innings giving up six hits and five runs with a strikeout. 

Adam Plutko pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Plutko earned his fifth win of the season.  Hunter Wood pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run with two strikeouts and Phil Maton pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits, Gregorius had three hits and an RBI and Gio Urshela had two hits and two RBI.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI.  Gregorius, Sanchez and Torres each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Tauchman had an outfield assist. 

Francisco Lindor had two hits and an RBI, Greg Allen had four hits and four RBI and Carlos Santana had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Yasiel Puig had two hits and two RBI, Oscar Mercado had a hit and Jose Ramirez had two hits, six RBI and drew two walks.  Jason Kipnis had two hits and an RBI, Franmil Reyes had two hits and Tyler Naquin had three hits.  Roberto Perez had three hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Allen, Kipnis, Santana and Naquin each hit a double.  Ramirez hit two homeruns and Kipnis, Perez, and Allen each hit a homerun.  Santana also hit two homeruns for the Indians.  The Indians were 8-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Kipnis committed an error. 

The Indians scored seven runs in the first inning to take a 7-0 lead.  The Yankees got one back in the bottom of the first but in the second the Indians quickly took a 9-1 lead.  In the fourth Santana hit a two-run homerun and it was 11-1 Indians.  The Indians added on in the fifth and the Yankees answered back with a run making it a 12-2 game.  In the sixth Sanchez hit a solo homerun.  In the seventh Puig made it a 14-3 game and Urshela hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh cutting it to 14-4.  In the eighth Lindor hit an RBI single and Allen hit a three-run homerun to make it 18-4.  Santanta hit a solo homerun to make it 19-4 and Torres hit a solo homerun in the eighth cutting it to 19-5 which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

The New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles to sweep doubleheader


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 11-8.  It was game 2 of a doubleheader and Chad Green served as the opener for the Yankees.  He pitched well, the bullpen had their struggles.  DJ LeMahieu, Gio Urshela and Gleyber Torres each had three hits to lead the Yankees offense. 

Green pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up no hits or runs and no walks with a strikeout.  Joe Mantiply earned his first win of the season pitching three innings and giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Brady Lail pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout and Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and earned his second save of the season. 

Ty Blach pitched four innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with six of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out four and lost his first game of the season.  Evan Phillips pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Tom Eshelman pitched three innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had three hits and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew two walks and Urshela had three hits.  Torres had three hits, six RBI and drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Mike Ford had a hit and an RBI, Breyvic Valera had a hit and drew a walk and Gardner hit a triple.  Ford hit a homerun and Torres hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Jonathan Villar had a hit, Trey Mancini had a hit and two RBI and Jace Peterson had a hit and drew a walk.  Chance Sisco had a hit and drew a walk, Hanser Alberto had three hits and three RBI.  Stevie Wilkerson had a hit, Rio Ruiz had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Alberto hit a triple and Mancini and Alberto each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Sisco committed an error. 

In the first Gardner hit a three-run triple to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the second a wild pitch pushed the lead to 4-0.  In the third Ruiz hit an RBI ground out and Mancini hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the fourth Ford hit a solo homerun and the lead was extended to 5-3.  In the fifth Torres hit a three-run homerun and it was 8-3 Yankees.  In the sixth Torres hit another three-run homerun to push the lead to 11-3.  In the seventh Alberto hit a three-run homerun and in the ninth Ruiz hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 11-8 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees swept their sixth double header of the year and will play game three of the four game series on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees hold on for victory over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Chad Green started as the opener and pitched one clean inning.  The Yankees bullpen pitched well and they hit four solo homeruns. 

Green pitched an inning with a strikeout, Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with five strikeouts and he picked up his third win of the season and Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Stephen Tarpley pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Zach Britton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Chapman picked up his 23rd save of the season. 

Clayton Richard pitched six innings giving up eight hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Richard lost his fourth game of the season.  David Phelps pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out one and Tim Mayza pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Luke Voit had a hit and Edward Encarnacion had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI and LeMahieu hit a triple and he hit a homerun.  Judge, Torres and Encarnacion each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Hicks had a pick off and Sanchez committed an error. 

Eric Sogard had an RBI, Vald Guerrero Jr. had a hit and an RBI and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had two hits.  Cavan Biggio had a hit, Randal Grichuk had a hit and an RBI and Freddy Galvis had a hit.  Danny Jansen had a hit.  Biggio and Jansen each hit a double and the Blue Jays were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gurriel Jr. had an outfield assist and Richard had a pickoff. 

In the first LeMahieu and Judge each hit a solo homerun and the Yankees had a quick 2-0 lead.  In the second Torres hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Sogard hit a sac fly and Guerrero Jr. hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the eighth Encarnacion hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth Grichuk hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3 but that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday afternoon.

New York Yankees hold off the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-6.  Chad Green started as the opener and pitched well, the bullpen didn’t pitch very well.  Giancarlo Stanton had three hits and Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Nestor Cortes Jr. won his second game of the season pitching three innings and giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, David Hale pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman saved his 20th game of the season.  Chapman pitched to one batter and got him out.   

Framber Valdez pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Valdez lost his third game of the season.  Chris Devenski pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Josh James pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Hector Rondon pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts.  Rogelio Armenteros pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with a  walk and three strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Luke Voit had a hit and Sanchez had two hits and an RBI.  Stanton had three hits, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Torres had two hits and three RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk and Stanton and Maybin each hit a double.  Sanchez, Torres and LeMahieu each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Maybin had a stolen base. 

Alex Bregman had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Michael Brantley had a hit and Jose Altuve had a hit.  Yordan Alvarez had two hits and two RBI, Yuli Gurriel had a hit and Josh Reddick had two hits and an RBI.  Robinson Chirinos had a hit, Jake Marisnick had three hits and two RBI and Alvarez hit a double.  Marisnick hit two homeruns and Bregman and Alvarez each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the fourth Sanchez hit a solo homerun and Torres hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  LeMahieu hit a two-run homerun and it was 6-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Marisnick hit a solo homerun and Bregman hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the fifth Maybin hit a two-run double and the lead was 8-2 Yankees.  In the sixth Alvarez hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 8-3.  In the seventh Encarnacion hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 10-3.  In the eighth Reddick hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 10-4 and in the ninth Marisnick hit a solo homerun and Alvarez hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 10-6 which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

New York Yankees end three game losing streak with win over the Chicago White Sox


The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.  Chad Green started as the opener and pitched great, Nestor Cortes Jr. also gave them five strong innings.  DJ LeMahieu, Didi Gregorius and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out six.  Cortes Jr. pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs, with no walks and seven strikeouts and picked up his first win, Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Reynaldo Lopez pitched six innings giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Juan Minaya pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout, Josh Osich pitched to one batter and got him out and Thyago Vieira pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Manny Banuelos pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and he struck out one. 

LeMahieu had two hits, Luke Voit had a hit and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks, Gregorius had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Torres had two hits and three RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI, Brett Gardner drew three walks and LeMahieu and Sanchez each hit a double.  Maybin and Torres each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base and committed an error. 

Leury Garcia had a hit, Tim Anderson had a hit and Jose Abreu had two hits.  James McCann had a hit and three RBI, Eloy Jimenez had two hits and Jose Rondon had a hit.  Yolmer Sanchez had a hit, Ryan Cordell had a hit and McCann hit a homerun.  The white Sox were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the fourth Sanchez hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Torres hit a two-run homerun to push their lead to 4-0.  In the sixth Torres hit a sac fly to make it a 5-0 game.  In the seventh Maybin hit a solo homerun to extend their lead to 6-0.  Sanchez hit an RBI ground out making it 7-0.  In the eighth Abreu hit an RBI single and McCann hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to a 7-4 lead.  In the ninth Gregorius drew an RBI walk to make it 8-4 and that would be the final score of the game.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will try and even the series before returning home to face the Rays on Monday night.

New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians to salvage series


The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 7-6.  Chad Green served as the opener and pitched well and the bullpen mostly did a good job with a couple of guys not doing their job.  DJ LeMahieu, Luke Voit, Clint Frazier and Cameron Maybin each had two hits to lead the Yankees offense. 

Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts.  Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched three perfect innings with two strikeouts, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout and Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run.  Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a walk, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and a strikeout and he picked up his first win of the season after blowing his second save of the season.  Stephen Tarpley picked up his first save of the season pitching a perfect inning with three strikeouts. 

Shane Bieber pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  A.J. Cole pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three walks, Nick Goody pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts and Tyler Clippard pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Tyler Olson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and two strikeouts, Adam Cimber pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Oliver Perez lost his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Voit had two hits and two RBI and drew a walk and Gray Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Frazier had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Brett Gardner had a hit and two RBI.  Gio Urshela drew four walks, Maybin had two hits and Hicks, Sanchez, Frazier, Maybin and Voit each hit a double.  Gardner hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Frazier was caught stealing and Gregorius and Chapman each committed an error. 

Oscar Mercado had a hit, Carlos Santana had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Mike Freeman had a hit and two RBI.  Jose Ramirez had two hits, Roberto Perez drew two walks and Jake Bauers had a hit and an RBI.  Leonys Martin had a hit and an RBI including a homerun, Freeman and Bauers each hit a homerun and the Indians were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ramirez had a stolen base. 

In the second Gardner hit a two-run homerun and LeMahieu hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  Voit hit a two-run double and it was 5-0.  In the sixth Martin hit a solo homerun, Santana hit an RBI single and Freeman hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the seventh Bauers hit a solo homerun to tie the game at five.  In the ninth Frazier hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 6-5 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Lindor reached on an error and a run scored to tie the game at six.  In the tenth Hicks hit an RBI double to give the Yankees back the lead at 7-6 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees salvaged one game and ended a rough road trip at 2-4.  They will return home for a brief two game series with the New York Mets.

New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays in rubber game to take over first place


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 13-5.  Chad Green started as the opener for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch great, Nestor Cortes Jr. started out bad but kept the Yankees in the game and Chance Adams pitched well out of the pen.  Brett Gardner had three hits and three RBI and DJ LeMahieu, Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres each had two hits. 

Green pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Cortes Jr. pitched four innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts and Adam Ottavino won his second game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  Adams earned his first career save pitching three innings and giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts. 

Charlie Morton pitched four innings giving up four hits and five runs with three of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out six.  Diego Castillo lost his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with three walks, Ryne Stanek pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and Casey Sadler pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with three strikeouts. 

LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Luke Voit had an RBI and drew two walks.  Sanchez had two hits and drew a walk, Kendrys Morales had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Torres had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gio Urshela drew a walk, Thairo Estrada had a hit and three RBI and Gardner had three hits and three RBI.  Clint Frazier drew a walk, Estrada and Gardner each hit a double.  Sanchez hit his first career triple and Hicks, LeMahieu and Gardner each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base. 

Austin Meadows drew two walks, Tommy Pham had a hit and drew a walk and Yandy Diaz had a hit.  Brandon Lowe had a hit and three RBI, Travis d’Arnaud drew a walk and Kevin Kiermaier had a hit and an RBI.  Willy Adames had two hits and an RBI, Daniel Robertson had a hit and drew a walk and Pham and Diaz each hit a double.  Adames, Lowe and Kiermaier each hit a homerun and the Rays were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Meadows was caught stealing and Diaz and Heredia each committed an error. 

In the first Morales hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  IN the second Kiermaier hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Adames hit a solo homerun to give the Rays a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Gardner hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the third Lowe hit a three-run homerun giving the Rays back the lead at 5-3.  In the fourth Hicks hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at five.  In the sixth Voit drew an RBI walk, Morales drew an RBI walk and Torres hit an RBI single to make it 8-5.  Estrada hit a three-run double, Gardner hit an RBI double and it was 12-5 Yankees.  In the seventh LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 13-5 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three in the series to move into first place in the AL East and they will head to Baltimore for a four-game series beginning on Monday night.

The New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 6-2.  Chad Green started for the Yankees as the opener and did ok.  Luis Cessa was great out of the bullpen.  Gary Sanchez had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Green pitched one inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Cessa pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs and he struck out five, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Danny Coulombe pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  David Sosebee pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Jeff Hendrix drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Billy Burns had two hits and an RBI, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Sanchez had two hits and two RBI.  Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI, Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Stanton hit a double.  Sanchez hit two doubles and Bird hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Burns and Gardner each had a stolen base and Torres had two stolen bases.  Judge committed an error. 

In the first Michael Perez hit an RBI single to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Sanchez hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the third Judge hit an RBI single, Stanton hit an RBI double and Sanchez hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead.  In the fourth Burns hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Bird hit a solo homerun and the lead was 6-1.  In the ninth Mac James hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will take on the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon in West Palm Beach.

Yankees win a wild one over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday afternoon.  The game took place at Dunedin Stadium in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 9-8.  Chad Green started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Austin Romine had a couple of hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with no walks and three strikeouts.  Trevor Lane pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk, David Hale pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and J.P. Feyereisen pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Raynel Espinal pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Adonis Rosa pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and he picked up the win and Josh Rogers pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs.  Cale Coshow pitched to two batteres and retired them both. 

Mark Payton had a hit and three RBI, Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI and Abiatal Avelino drew a walk.  Ryan McBroom had a hit and an RBI, Daniel Espinosa had a hit and an RBI and Tyler Wade had a hit and drew a walk.  Romine had two hits, Kyle Higashioka drew a walk and Billy McKinney drew a walk.  Estevan Florial had a hit and drew a walk, Shane Robinson had a hit and an RBI and Romine hit two doubles and Payton hit a double.  Florial hit a triple and Espinosa, Andujar and McBroom each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Wade had a stolen base and Higashioka committed an error and McKinney and Ellsbury each had an outfield assist. 

In the second Russell Martin hit a solo homerun to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Espinosa hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one and a wild pitched scored another run to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Kevin Pillar hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Aledmys Diaz hit an RBI single to give the Jays a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Andujar hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the sixth Anthony Alford hit an RBI triple to give the Jays back the lead at 4-3.  J.D. Davis hit an RBI single to push the Jays lead to 5-3.  In the seventh Robinson hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-4.  IN the eighth McBroom hit a solo homerun to tie the game at five.  A wild pitch made it a 6-5 game and Payton hit a three-run double to increase the Yankees lead to 9-5.  In the eighth Reese McGuire hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 9-6.  In the ninth Jason Leblebijian hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-8 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees ran their spring record to 5-0.

New York Yankees rally falls short against the Boston Red Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well but Chad Green did out of the bullpen.  Aaron Judge, Aaron Hicks and Didi Gregorius each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up five hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Tanaka lost his sixth game of the season.  Tommy Layne pitched to one batter and walked him, Green pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up no hits or runs and he struck out five and Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Drew Pomeranz started for the Red sox and he pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out seven and won his sixth game of the season.  Robby Scott pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Joe Kelly pitched an inning with a walk and he struck out one and Matt Barnes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run.  Craig Kimbrel pitched 1 1/3 innings walking one and striking out five and he saved his 17th game of the season. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Judge had two hits and drew a walk and Matt Holliday had a hit.  Starlin Castro had a hit, Hicks had two hits and drew a walk and Gregorius had two hits.  Chase Headley drew a walk, Chris Carter had a hit and an RBI and Judge and Holliday each hit a double.  Carter hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Mookie Betts had a hit, Andrew Benintendi had two hits and an RBI and Xander Bogaerts had an RBI and drew a walk.  Mitch Moreland had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Hanley Ramirez had a hit and an RBI and Jackie Bradley Jr.  had a hit.  Bradley Jr. hit a double and Moreland, Ramirez and Benintendi each hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Betts committed an error. 

In the first Bogaerts hit an RBI ground out to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gregorius hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Moreland hit a two-run homerun to give the Red Sox a 3-1 lead and one batter later Ramirez hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Benintendi hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 5-1.  Carter hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the sixth Gregorius grounded into a double play and a run scored to make it 5-3.  In the eighth Gregorius struck out but a wild pitch allowed him to reach base and a run to score making it a 5-4 game and that would be the final score.  

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at Spectrum Field in Clearwater, Florida and the final score was 5-0.  Chad Green started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Chance Adams and Justus Sheffield also pitched well.  Greg Bird had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched two innings giving up two hits and no runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Green got the win.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit, Adams pitched an inning giving up a hit and three walks with three strikeouts and Jon Niese pitched a perfect inning.  Sheffield pitched two innings giving up three hits and two walks with three strikeouts and Matt Marsh pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Bird had two hits, Matt Holliday drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit and three RBI.  Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI, Rob Refsnyder drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Tyler Wade had a hit, Bird and Wade each hit a double and Headley and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Castro committed an error and Kyle Higashioka had a passed ball. 

In the first Headley hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the fifth Sanchez reached on a fielding error and a run scored to make it 4-0.  In the sixth Judge hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-0 which would be the final score.

The New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles




The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida and the final score was 4-1.  Chad Green started for the Yankees and continued the trend by pitching two scoreless innings.  Greg Bird hit two doubles and Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI.  Thairo Estrada hit a three run homerun. 

Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk, Evan Rutckyj pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Giovanny Gallegos pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Matt Marsh pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two, Joe Mantiply pitched a perfect inning and Kyle Haynes pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he earned the save. 

Ji-Man Choi drew a walk, Austin Romine had a hit and Bird had two hits.  Judge had a hit and an RBI, Clint Frazier had a hit and Kellin Deglan had a hit.  Estrada had a hit and three RBI.  Dustin Fowler had a hit and drew a walk and Bird hit two doubles and Frazier also hit a double.  Judge hit a triple and Estrada hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Fowler had a stolen base and Judge had an outfield assist. 

In the first Judge reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored to make it 1-0.  In the third Jonathan Schoop hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the ninth Estrada hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees are shutout in Baltimore



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 8-0.  Chad Green started for the Yankees but left with an injury in the second inning.  The Yankees bullpen was both good and bad and the offense didn't do anything. 

Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts and he took his fourth loss of the season.  Nick Goody pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Kirby Yates pitched two innings giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Luis Severino pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Blake Parker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Dylan Bundy pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  He won his eighth game of the season.  Donnie Hart pitched 1 1/3 innings retiring all of the batters that he faced, Vance Worley pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Tommy Hunter pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and Gary Sanchez drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira drew a walk, Chase Headley drew a walk and the Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gardner was picked off. 

Adam Jones had two hits and an RBI, Pedro Alvarez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Manny Machado had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Chris Davis had a hit and two RBI, Mark Trumbo had two hits and an RBI and Matt Wieters had a hit.  J.J. Hardy had a hit, Ryan Flaherty had a hit and Hardy, Wieters and Flaherty each hit a double.  Alvarez, Davis, Trumbo and Machado each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Wieters had a pickoff. 

In the second Jones hit an RBI single, Alvarez hit a two run homerun, Davis hit a two runs homerun and Trumbo hit a solo homerun to give the Orioles a 6-0 lead.  In the fourth Machado hit a two run homerun and it was 8-0 Orioles which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Yankees defeat the Toronto Blue Jays behind strong pitching



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 1-0.  Chad Green started for the Yankees and he was great and the bullpen shut it down as well.  Aaron Judge continued his hot start to his MLB career with an RBI double and he had two hits and Gary Sanchez also had two hits. 

Green pitched six shutout innings giving up two hits.  He walked none and struck out eleven and earned his second win of the season.  Tyler Clippard pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dellin Betances earned his fifth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he walked one. 

R.A. Dickey lost his 13th game of the season pitching five innings and giving up four hits and a run.  He walked four and struck out six.  Joe Biagini pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts, Brett Cecil pitched an inning giving up a walk and Ryan Tepera pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Chase Headley had a hit and drew two walks and Mark Teixeira drew a walk.  Brian McCann had a hit and drew two walks, Sanchez had two hits and drew a walk and Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, Ellsbury, Judge and Headley each hit a double adn the Yankees were 2-18 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base. 

Josh Donaldson had a hit, Troy Tulowitzki had a hit and Darrell Ceciliani had a hit.  Josh Thole drew a walk, Ceciliani hit a double and the Blue Jays were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the fourth Judge hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead and that was the only run of the game.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees avoid sweep with a win in San Diego



The New York Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 6-3.  Chad Green made the spot start so the Yankees could push back CC Sabathia and not have him have to hit in the NL park.  Green pitched great and Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller both pitched well.  Mark Teixeira led the offense with two homeruns and Aaron Hicks had three hits. 

Green pitched six innings giving up one run on three hits.  He walked none and struck out eight and earned his first major league win.  Betances pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two, Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Anthony Swarzak gave up two hits and two runs.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a strikeout.  He earned his 16th save of the season. 

Andrew Cashner lost his sixth game of the season.  He pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out six.  Carlos Vaillanueva pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Kevin Quackenbush pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and Jose Dominguez pitched 2/3 of an inning. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits and drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Teixeira had two hits and three RBI.  Brian McCann had a hit and drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI and Hicks had three hits and drew a walk.  Hicks hit a double and Gregorius hit a homerun.  Teixeira hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gardner and Ellsbury each had a stolen base. 

Wil Myers had a hit and drew a walk, Matt Kemp had a hit and Yangervis Solarte had four hits and an RBI.  Alex Dickerson had a hit and two RBI, Christian Bethancourt had a hit and Solarte hit a double.  Solarte and Dickerson each hit a homerun and the Padres were 1-6  with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Dickerson had a stolen base and Ramirez committed an error. 

In the second Torreyes grounded into a double play and a run scored to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Solarte hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Gregorius hit a solo homerun in the fourth to give the Yankees back the lead at 2-1.  In the eighth Teixeria hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the ninth Gardner hit an RBI single and Teixeira hit a two run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 6-1.  In the bottom of the ninth Dickerson hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 6-3 which would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost the first two games of the series and salvaged this final game to avoid the sweep.  They will head to Chicago to start a three game series on Monday afternoon.
