A couple of Yankee notes on off day
Xavier Nady is heading to AAA-Scranton to start his rehab. He will join them tomorrow and be ready to start his rehab assignment on Wednesday. He played in a simulated game today and went 2 for 3 with 2 singles as a DH. He made throws to second and third before the game and felt fine. Jose Molina completed a workout and Damaso Marte a throwing program but they still both seem a ways off. I am not sure how much time Nady needs but I would think without any setbacks it may only be a couple of weeks before he is back. The Yankees issued this release regarding Nady today.
CC Sabathia did not get treatment today according to Peter Abraham, the reason was that Atlanta was playing a makeup game and the trainers room wasn't available, he will go about his normal schedule this week and it looks like he will be fine as the Yankees didn't send him for a MRI.

Updates roster moves
Brian Bruney had his MRI and he has a strained flexor mass. He will not throw for a week and could be back in two to three weeks. Humberto Sanchez was released as he has been a huge disappointment since coming over in the Gary Sheffield trade. Angel Berroa will be the everday third baseman, he hasn't really played third in the majors but has been hitting well and has much more pop then Cody Ransom so that may not be the worst thing, it will be interesting to see if he is bad if A-rod gets rushed back.
Phil Hughes will be taking Wang's spot in the rotation as expected and will remain there. Joe Girardi said it wouldn't be fair to have him make one start and then decide from start to start, he is in the rotation.
I am very excited to see Mark Melancon and we have seen some of Dave Robertson already, they are two power arms that could become late inning guys in this bullpen for a long time to come, this is their oppurtunity as well as Phil Hughes. Phil Hughes gets to redeem himself and see what happens.

Game 7: Yankees at Rays (RIP Harry Kalas)
Here is your lineups for todays opening game of a 3 game series with the defending AL champs the Tampa Bay Rays. That still sounds wierd considering how bad they were for so long.
Yankees
Jeter(ss)
Damon(lf)
Swisher(1b)
Posada(c)
Nady(rf)
Cano(2b)
Matsui(dh)
Ransom(3b)
Cabrera(cf)
Rays
Upton(cf)
Crawford(lf)
Longoria(3b)
Pena(1b)
Burrell(dh)
Navarro(c)
Gross(rf)
Iwamura(2b)
Bartlett(ss)
Chien-Ming Wang will try and rebound from his terrible first start, he has had good success in his career against the Rays. He is 5-2 3.74 era in 8 career starts at the Trop. Derek Jeter is 1 for his last 17 and Ransom is 1-20, Melky Cabrera is 9 of his last 43 dating back to last year. Mark Teixera had a MRI today and it was ok, no damage, he expects to be back in the lineup tomorrow.
Alex Rodriguez was in Tampa today and did some light jogging, fielded grounders and hit off a tee and from a coach soft tossing to him. He took 78 swings, 36 off of a tee and 42 from a coach tossing it to him. He worked out on the field for 45 minutes and then met the media after. He said he is dedicated solely to baseball now and wants to be like he was in 07, expect him with the earplugs in before games and not talk too much. The bottom line is he has to produce and help the Yankees win a championship then no one cares about anything else. He said the month in Colorado really allowed him to look at things and reevaluate and he knows he has to put the other things to the side and only concentrate on baseball. He said his hip had been bothering him since last June and he can tell now that something was fixed. I expect to see him on the bench and maybe here more from him pregame tonight. Peter Abraham of the Journal News and http://yankees.lhblogs.com/ had a lot of this info on his blog so thanks goes out to him, if you don't already do so make sure you check out his blog, he does a great job.
Harry Kalas the longtime phillies announcer passed away today at the age of 73, condolences go out to his family and the Phillies family as that is a great loss to them.

Spring Game 20: Phillies at Yankees
Joba will try and keep it going today. Nick Swisher is playing 1b today and this is his biggest assett to the team, that he can play multiple positions, I think both he and Nady will get plenty of playing time. We will start seeing the regulars playing more as more and more guys head to minor league camp. The MRI's for Marte and Cano revealed no structural damage which is a sigh of relief. They will rest, and I am sure we will find out later for how long.

Mets Defeat Houston
The New York Mets had a field day today with the Houston Astros defeating them 13-1. Carlos Delgado went 2-3 with 3rbis, Wright went 2-3 and Beltran went 2-4 with an rbi. John Maine went 2 innings giving up a run on 1 hit and 2 walks. JJ Putz and Feliciano followed with scoreless innings as well as Sean Green and Duaner Sanchez who also had 2 ks. The big news of the day for the Mets was that now Johan Santana will not go to NY for an MRI as was originally scheduled, Mets GM Omar Minaya said he felt good during and after his bullpen and also the storm in NY had a small role in the decision. He will be checked out by Mets doctors in Port St. Lucie when they get there. The Mets are off tomorrow.

Johan Santana sidelined
The word out of Mets camp doesn't sound too good. Ace pitcher Johan Santana who Hank Steinbrenner coveted is out indefinitely. It appears he may have tendinitis in his elbow, when I get more information I will post it. He hasn't gone for an MRI as of yet but it wouldn't be shocking if the Mets got him out of there secretly to do that, they are still downplaying this but if your a Mets fan, you have to be worried, if he is gone for a length of time during the season the Mets are in big trouble. The Mets take on the Tigers today at 1:05. I was going to post the Mets lineup for today but I can't seem to find it, oh well be back later with updates.
