Things getting feisty tonight
We had Brian Bruney talking again and now K-rod fired back saying "He needs to keep his mouth shut and do his job." "If he was a big guy I would probably pay attention, If he was someone big like Mariano, I'd respect that. But if I don't know who he is I don't listen."
"Instead of sending a message through the paper next time when he sees me at Citi Field come up to me and say it to my face. Don't be sending a message through the media. I don't even know who that guy is, somewhere in Double A? I believe he hasn't even pitched one full season, he is always on the DL and that is all I know right now." He say's he doesn't know who he is but knows that he is always hurt that is pretty funny to me. There are others who don't like K-rod including MO but I don't know what got Bruney started on this and why it would matter.
Brad Penny also reacted tonight to Joe Girardi saying he intentionally threw at A-rod the other night. "I don't give two f---s what Joe Girardi says. I am coming inside, I don't care. Anybody can say that, we can say it about the time they hit our guys. I am just trying to pitch inside. Maybe he should worry about managing and let the umpire crew do their job."
Wow it seems the Yankees are fired up and got others fired up, maybe this will lead to the Yankees playing well again I hope or could this all be nonsense and distract them, only time will tell.

Pitching matchups for Baltimore series
Tonight- CC Sabathia vs Brad Bergesen
Tomorrow- Phil Hughes vs Jeremy Guthrie
Friday- A.J. Burnett vs Brett Myers
The games are all at 7:05PM tonight and Thursday on MY 9 and tomorrow on Yes network.
Brian Bruney will be activated and the question is who gets sent out for him. I really want Angel Berroa off the team but I have a feeling it may be Aceves, if not Berroa it should be Edwar Ramirez or Jose Veras.

Some Yankees News
Brian Bruney will be activated tomorrow and go back to his eighth inning role. We will see what happens when he comes back, Edwar Ramirez, Jon Albaladejo and Alfredo Aceves have options left, my guess would be Edwar unless of course they get rid of Angel Berroa. Bruney said he got hurt during that game with Posada having that homerun review that took 8 1/2 minutes he said he was warming up and kept doing so because he didn't know how long it would take. He talked to the union about the incident but was told it is a central office that does the reviewing not the umpires on field. He said 8 1/2 minutes is a long time for someone to be throwing is obviously very upset about that incident.
Chien-Ming Wang will be at the Stadium tomorrow to throw a bullpen in front of Yankees personnel. Girardi was non commital about when he might return but the Yankees would like to see his sinker be a little sharper then it was in his last outing, the velocity was down a little but Girardi said he is more concerned with the quality of his sinker. I am going to assume Phil Hughes will go down and Wang will slot in at the end of the week but what happens if Wang still isn't good so maybe they will keep Hughes around for the time being.
Brett Gardner is day to day with a contusion of his right rotator cuff, he said he didn't feel anything after the collision with Joe Mauer yesterday but woke up with pain.
Steven Jackson was claimed off of waivers by the Pirates

Updates roster moves
Brian Bruney had his MRI and he has a strained flexor mass. He will not throw for a week and could be back in two to three weeks. Humberto Sanchez was released as he has been a huge disappointment since coming over in the Gary Sheffield trade. Angel Berroa will be the everday third baseman, he hasn't really played third in the majors but has been hitting well and has much more pop then Cody Ransom so that may not be the worst thing, it will be interesting to see if he is bad if A-rod gets rushed back.
Phil Hughes will be taking Wang's spot in the rotation as expected and will remain there. Joe Girardi said it wouldn't be fair to have him make one start and then decide from start to start, he is in the rotation.
I am very excited to see Mark Melancon and we have seen some of Dave Robertson already, they are two power arms that could become late inning guys in this bullpen for a long time to come, this is their oppurtunity as well as Phil Hughes. Phil Hughes gets to redeem himself and see what happens.

Melancon and Berroa on the way To Boston
Angel B berroa has been called up to take Cody Ransoms spot on the roster and play third base until A-rod gets back. Angel Berroa has a much better bat then Ransom he was hitting 312 in AAA-Scranton this year after having a very good spring.
Dave Robertson was announced last night as replacing Chien-Ming Wang on the roster but it looks like Mark Melancon is also being called up. I know one of these guys will be replaced on Tuesday when Phil Hughes needs to come up and replace Wang but I do think eventually these guys will be in the bullpen for the long haul and this is there chance to shine. I will be back later on with more as it develops, I wonder if this is serious for Bruney or they will just put him on the 15 day DL as a precaution.

Welcome Home Yankees
The New York Yankees will play their first official game in the New Stadium this afternoon at 1:00pm or around 1:15pm to be more exact. There will be a big ceremony from 12-1 so for anyone going be in your seats at twelve noon. The Yankees finished up the first road trip of the season on a high winning their last two and going five and four.
Here are some notes and then the lineup for the Yankees. Yankee Stadium is the first new AL park since Comerica Park in Detroit opened in 2000. CC Sabathia will be facing his old team for the first time. He was with the Indians from 1998 when he was drafted to last July when he was traded to Milwaukee. He had a record of 106-77 in 237 starts for the Indians.
There shouldn't be any doubt about Brian Bruney handling the eighth inning for now, in his last 4 2/3 innings he has allowed no runs, hits or walks and has ten strikeouts. Cliff Lee the Cy Young award winner last year and Cleveland starter today is 3-3 with a 5.62 era career against the Yankees, he did beat them last July though throwing a seven inning shutout. I would throw that start out last year as we know how bad the Yankees struggled offensively with the injuries.
Robbie Cano looks like the all star version we figured he would always be hitting safely in eight of the first nine games. He has also looked good defensively, no lazy talk anymore. Nick Swisher has been on base exactly half of the time he has been up.
Everyone enjoy the festivities and hopefully the Yankees get another win on opening day. They haven't lost a home opener since 1997. Thanks to Peter Abraham for the information on his blog.
I forgot to post the lineup in my excitement so here it is
Jeter(ss)
Damon(lf)
Teixera(1b)
Swisher(rf)
Posada(c)
Cano(2b)
Matsui(dh)
Ransom(3b)
Gardner(cf)

More on Yanks Game Today
I did watch the entire replay of todays game on YES tonight. I have some thoughts, im going to start by saying Robinson Cano looked great in the field while he was in there, making 2 outstanding plays, showing some range and hustle. I also noticed that Shelly Duncan still has some serious power and emotion.
The pitchers, i am very high on Mark Melancon and liked what I saw out of him in his one inning of work, I think he may make the team out of spring training but if not you will see him up at some point this year. Brian Bruney looks just awesome, he has the potential to be lights out in the 8th and then people will forget about Joba if he is doing well as a starter. Jon Albaladejo also lost some weight and looks good himself, but I think its a numbers game and he wont make it. JB Cox gave up the only run and got hit around a little, boy has his stock dropped, he was a well thought of prospect and isn't thought of much anymore. Damaso Marte and Phil Coke looked good as well, I really think they will carry 2 lefties in the pen. I like the versatility Coke offers being able to start, short relief, long relief. What really stood out to me as I said before was that Phil Hughes fastball was popping and showing up at 90-92 on the YES gun which is pretty good for this time of spring, if he is healthy I expect him to be back up to 94-95 and with that he can be very effective.
Ian Kennedy goes tomorrow in Fort Myers against the Twins, I don't think many regulars are going to be down there. Tex may go and maybe Posada but I don't think Arod, Jeter, Cano will play as they made the first trip. When I get the lineups and pitchers after IPK I will post it tomorrow morning.

Non Arod Talk Wow
I am so happy to finally be writing about something non Arod related. I am saying this though and still mentioning Arod, we just can't escape from it. I am going to get to it now that thats out of my system. I want to thank Peter Abraham for this information, Brian Bruney and Jonathan Albaladejo were both at the workout this morning. Brian Bruney was still trim and looked great, Pete thinks he will be a big part of the puzzle and so do I. A lot of people forget that he was hurt for most of the year last year and when he did pitch he was dominating. I expect Bruney to be the main setup guy at least at the beginning for MO. Albaladejo was definitely a forgotten man, he pitched pretty well before he got hurt and had an absolutely great winter season. I think he is in the mix amongst the other bullpen arms. The Yankees are really stacked in the bullpen and it will be a great race to see who makes it out of spring training other then MO,Bruney,Marte.
There is some good news about Jorge Posada, he has been showing good pop in the batting cage and also it seems to be a good sign that he is coming up and throwing out of the crouch. The Yankees of course will be cautious with him but he should be ready to go on opening day.
