Yankees lineup for tonights game
Here is the Yankees lineup for tonights game.
1. Posada(c)
2.Damon(lf)
3.Swisher(1b)
4. Matsui(dh)
5. Nady(rf)
6. Ransom(3b)
7. Cabrera(cf)
8. Berroa(2b)
9. Pena(ss)
AJ Burnett gets the start against his former team followed by MO, Edwar Ramirez and Dan Giese. Don't forget the game is on YES tonight at 7:00pm. I don't know if anyone is going to the Cubs games to open the stadium April 3 and 4th but they went on presale today for the season ticket holders and will go on sale for everyone else I believe March 27th. I am pretty sure they will sell out by then, what I don't understand is why full season ticket holders get first dibs on the extra tickets, they already have them all including the Cubs games, it doesn't seem fair to me. If anyone has an opinion on this or some more information I would love to hear from you.

Yankees Recap
The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros today by a score of 4-1. Chieng-Ming Wang bounced back from a rough start his last time out and pitched 5 innings today giving up 1 run on 3 hits, 0 walks and 2 strikeouts. Phil Coke and Brett Tomko each pitched a scoreless inning giving up 1 hit. Jose Veras pitched a scoreless inning although he did walk 2 guys. Albaladejo finished it off with a perfect inning striking out one.
Robbie Cano led the offensive attack going 2-4, Jose Molina also went 2-3. Mark Teixera went 1-2 with a walk. Angel Berroa was 1-3 with a rbi and Nick Swisher was 1-3. Austin Jackson the Yankees top prospect was 1-1. Former 1st round pick Eric Duncan was 1-1 with 2 rbi. He hasn't lived up to his potential and it seems he has been around forever but he is still one of the youngest players in AAA.
Wang after the game was asked how he has been getting along with CC and AJ, he says he talks to AJ more because their lockers are close together. A reporter asked what does he tell you and Wang said bad things as everyone laughed, he said he won't get a tattoo because his mother would kill him. Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada are both a go for tomorrow nights game against the Blue Jays. The game will be on YES. I credit Peter Abraham for having the lineups and the post game chatter, he does a great job for the journal news and his blog at http://yankees.lhblogs.com so go check it out if you don't already.
I just read that Kevin Youkilis went back to red sox camp with a bad ankle and will probably not continue in the WBC, how many guys on the US are getting hurt, this is crazy and that is the second Red Sox player, so we will have to keep an eye on that.

Recap of Todays Yankees action
The New York Yankees had a great day on the field defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 12-0. Joba Chamberlain started and went 3 shutout innings giving up 2 hits, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Brian Bruney pitched a scoreless inning giving up a couple of hits and a walk with a K. Kei Igawa, I know I can't believe he is still around either pitched 3 shutout innings with 2 hits, 1 walk and 3 k's. He has not given up a run all spring. He has pitched 12 innings giving up 6 hits, 2 walks and 11 strikeouts this spring. He won't make the team and is ticketed for AAA Scranton, he still is owed 12 million more and they can't trade him, so basically the Yankees are stuck with a AAA pitcher making lots of money but is of no use to them. Jon Albaladejo and Robertson each pitched a scoreless inning. Albaladejo had 2 strikeouts and Robertson had 1 k and 1 walk. Joba is back on track now for all of you who were worried and I have to admit it was a little alarming but that is why its spring training. The Yankees pitching all around looks good and it should be their strength this year, its going to be hard for Joe Girardi to pick who makes the final couple of spots in the bullpen as he has lots of good choices. I guess it is a good problem to have.
The offense did lots of damage today with Nick Swisher leading the attack going 3-4 with 3rbi. Brett Gardner had a rbi triple, Cody Ransom was 2-2 with a walk. Hideki Matsui had a walk, Xavier Nady was 2-4 with a rbi. Angel Berroa was 1-3, Kevin Cash was 1-2 with a rbi and Jose Molina was 1-3 with a rbi. Austin Jackson had a hit and rbi. Shelly Duncan was 2-2 with a rbi trying to stay on the Yankees mind. Nick Swisher and Xavier Nady look to be getting their swings down and Brett Gardner continues to run away with the CF job. It is good to see Matsui getting in there pretty much everyday, Cody Ransom is trying to make us forget about Arod, lets hope he doesn't leave all the hits in Florida. The Yankees will be on YES tomorrow night with CC taking the hill.
The Yankees got good news today regarding Marte and Cano as they have no structural damage. Cano expects to start in a game on friday. Damaso Marte will throw a bullpen tomorrow and need a couple of those before he gets into a game.
Andy Pettitte will not be going to Fort Myers on Friday, instead he will throw to Jorge Posada in a minor league game. CC will not face the Rays on Sunday, he will get in his work somewhere else. MO will get into his first game tomorrow night, he should be following CC, probably the 5th inning or so.

Yankees Recap
The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox tonight 8-4. Wang got the start and didn't fare too well giving up 7 run and 6 hits in 1 2/3 innings. Only one of the runs was earned though. Apparently Juan Miranda made one error but looked like he misplayed a couple of balls. I know a lot of people get all worked up over this but the Yankees didn't have anyone on the long trip to Fort Myers. On the good side Brett Tomko pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits, 0 runs with 5 strikeouts. In the spring Tomko has now pitched 10 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs with 10 ks and 1bb. It looks like he is the frontrunner for the long man spot but we will see. I don't think he can do much more to show he deserves the job. Kei Igawa pitched another scoreless inning but don't worry he won't be seen in the bronx unless a disaster happens.
Cody Ransom went 1-3, Brett Gardner 0-2 with a walk. Xavier Nady was 1-3 with 2rbi, Jose Molina was 1-3 with a rbi. Shelly Duncan was 1-2 with a walk and Angel Berroa was 2-3 with a rbi. The Yankees will be on YES tomorrow at 1:15PM at home against the Astros with AJ Burnett getting the start, they have a split squad and the other half of the team will play the Pittsburgh Pirates with Phil Hughes getting the start. The Yankees also aren't too happy with Cano not saying anything about his shoulder before he left for the WBC.

Spring Game 16: Yankees at Red Sox
The first game of the season between the Sox and Yanks but don't get all worked up, for all the media and people that like to hype it, there is NO Teixera, Cano, Jeter, Arod, Matsui, Posada. The Red Sox don't have Pedroia or Youkilis. Damaso Marte and Robinson Cano came back from the WBC a little sore and will be checked out by the Drs tomorrow. I don't think its a big deal and hopefully Cano will be in there in a couple of days. I would hold Marte out until next week just to be safe. The game is being broadcast on MLB network through the NESN feed but will be blacked out in NY thanks to the Yankees who have the right to black it out, they aren't showing it on YES so I don't know why they have to black it out other then being scared of what the NESN announcers might say but who cares, they are going to say it anyway and Yankees fans aren't going to be swayed by it. Wang gets his third start and will probably go 4 innings or maybe 5 if his pitch count is low.

Yanks/Twins Again
The New York Yankees take on the Minnesota Twins again today this time from George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. Joba Chamberlain gets the start followed by Kei Igawa,Dunn,Veras,Giese and others. The lineup for this game is:
Damon
Jeter
Tex
Arod
Posada
Cano
Swisher
Molina
Cabrera
Melky better get something going because Gardner is looking real strong and has passed him by in the CF battle so far. Posada is still the DH and won't catch until March 15. Today and tomorrow the big guys will play and then Cano,Jeter,Arod will leave for the WBC. The game is on YES today at 1 so I will have posts as I am watching the game. Arod also will meet with MLB investigators tomorrow about the steroids issue. The WBC will start up next week and be shown live on the MLB Network. Get used to seeing a lot of Berroa,Leone,Ransom etc for the next couple of weeks at least while the regulars are gone. Next week Team USA plays the Yankees and that will be interesting, the game will be on YES as Derek Jeter takes on the Yankees. Enjoy the game everyone and check back for updates during the game.

More on Yanks Game Today
I did watch the entire replay of todays game on YES tonight. I have some thoughts, im going to start by saying Robinson Cano looked great in the field while he was in there, making 2 outstanding plays, showing some range and hustle. I also noticed that Shelly Duncan still has some serious power and emotion.
The pitchers, i am very high on Mark Melancon and liked what I saw out of him in his one inning of work, I think he may make the team out of spring training but if not you will see him up at some point this year. Brian Bruney looks just awesome, he has the potential to be lights out in the 8th and then people will forget about Joba if he is doing well as a starter. Jon Albaladejo also lost some weight and looks good himself, but I think its a numbers game and he wont make it. JB Cox gave up the only run and got hit around a little, boy has his stock dropped, he was a well thought of prospect and isn't thought of much anymore. Damaso Marte and Phil Coke looked good as well, I really think they will carry 2 lefties in the pen. I like the versatility Coke offers being able to start, short relief, long relief. What really stood out to me as I said before was that Phil Hughes fastball was popping and showing up at 90-92 on the YES gun which is pretty good for this time of spring, if he is healthy I expect him to be back up to 94-95 and with that he can be very effective.
Ian Kennedy goes tomorrow in Fort Myers against the Twins, I don't think many regulars are going to be down there. Tex may go and maybe Posada but I don't think Arod, Jeter, Cano will play as they made the first trip. When I get the lineups and pitchers after IPK I will post it tomorrow morning.

Spring Training Preview
We are now a week away from pitchers and catchers and I couldn't be more excited. Derek Jeter said the other day this is the most excited he has been in a few seasons and I agree with him, we have some pitching and a non statue at first base, no offense to the Big G. I wanted to do a little spring training preview. I want to list what I think the batting order and rotation will be as well as the bullpen.
Lineup
Damon
Jeter
Tex
Arod
Matsui
Posada
Cano
Nady/Swisher
Gardner/Cabrera
Rotation
CC
AJ
Wang
Pettitte
Joba
Pen
Mo
Bruney
Marte
Edwar
Veras
Aceves
Coke or Melancon
I think Gardner will win the CF job but Melky had a good winter season and it will be interesting to see if he is motivated and plays better then Gardner. I think Nady and Swisher should stay and will stay and I think Joe G will find a way to work them all in. I would watch for Posada and Matsui to see how they bounce back, if they are healthy then this will be a very good lineup. I think the bench is better with having Nady/Swisher and Melky/Gardner on the bench along with Molina and the backup infielder which will probably be Ransom and maybe Angel Berroa.
I think the Yanks finally have the ace they have been looking for in CC and that if AJ is healthy they have the best rotation. I think Tex will make them so much better not just in the lineup but the whole infield defensively because of him. The biggest thing to look for is the health. I also think guys like CC and Tex and Swisher will be the grinders and chemistry guys that will help them also. I hope everyone who is going down to Tampa enjoys and soon enough we will see them in action as they begin grapefruit league play. February 26 is the first game on YES. I cant wait and Lets Go Yankees.
