The New York Mets lose game 7-3 and drop the series in Philadelphia

The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 7-3 on Wednesday night. The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jeremy Hefner started and didn’t pitch that well, the bullpen was pretty good. Jordany Valdespin and Lucas Duda led the offense with three hits each. 
Hefner took the loss his second of the season. Hefner pitched three innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and two strikeouts. Josh Edgin pitched two innings giving up a hit and striking out four, LaTroy Hawkins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Scott Rice pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out one. Bobby Parnell pitched an inning with two strikeouts.

Valdespin had three hits, Daniel Murphy drew a walk and John Buck had a hit and an RBI. Duda had three hits and two RBI, Mike Baxter had two hits and drew a walk and Ruben Tejada had two hits. Duda and Baxter each hit a double and Buck hit a homerun. Duda hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Valdespin was caught stealing.

Kyle Kendrick earned his first win of the season pitching six innings giving up eight hits and two runs with two walks and he struck out six. Antonio Bastardo pitched an inning giving up a hit, Mike Adams pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts and Jonathan Papelbon pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one.

Ben Revere drew a walk, Jimmy Rollins had two hits and Chase Utley had a hit and two RBI. Ryan Howard had two hits, Michael Young had two hits and drew a walk and Domonic Brown had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk. Eric Kratz had a hit, Lance Nix had a hit and two RBI and Rollins and Young each hit a double. Utley hit two homeruns, Nix and Brown each hit one. The Phillies were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Revere was caught stealing and had an outfield assist.

In the first Utley hit a two run homerun and Brown hit a three run homerun to give the Phillies a 5-0 lead. Buck hit a solo homerun in the second to cut the Phillies lead to 5-1. Duda hit a solo homerun in the fourth to make it a 5-2 game. Nix hit a two run homerun in the sixth to increase the Phillies lead to 7-2. Duda hit a solo homerun in the eighth to complete the scoring at 7-3 which was the final score.

The Mets have lost two in a row and their record dropped to 5-4 and the Phillies record improved to 4-5. The Mets will have off on Thursday.
