New York Yankees lose in 12 innings to the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 6-5 in 12 innings.  Masahiro Tanaka started and didn’t pitch that great.  DJ LeMahieu and Austin Romine each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up eight hits and four runs with six strikeouts.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one and Tyler Lyons lost his second game of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Anthony Kay pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Jason Adam pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Buddy Boshers pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and Sam Gaviglio pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Derek Law pitched an inning with a strikeout, Ken Giles pitched an inning with a walk and Tim Mayza gave up a walk.  Ryan Tepera pitched a perfect inning and Wilmer Font pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts and he won his fourth game of the season. 

LeMahieu had two hits, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Luke Voit had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI, Didi Gregorius drew three walks and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Clint Frazier had a hit and an RBI, Romine had two hits and an RBI and Gardner and Frazier each hit a double.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Maybin was caught stealing and LeMahieu and Torres committed an error. 

Bo Bichette had three hits and an RBI and drew a walk, Cavan Biggio had two hits and an RBI and Rowdy Tellez had a hit.  Justin Smoak drew a walk, Randal Grichuk had a hit and an RBI and Reese McGuire had a hit and an RBI.  Teoscar Hernandez had two hits, Billy McKinney had a hit and Richard Urena had two hits. McGuire and Bichette each hit a double and Grichuk and Bichette each hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Grichuk committed an error. 

In the second Grichuk hit a solo homerun giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth McGuire hit an RBI double and Hernandez hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Frazier hit an RBI double, Romine hit an RBI single and Voit reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored tying the game at three.  Urshela hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 5-3 lead.  Biggio hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4 and in the seventh a balk tied the game at five.  In the 12th Bichette hit a solo homerun to walk off the Jays with a 6-5 victory.

New York Yankees take game 1 of doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan and the final score was 10-4.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  Luke Voit and Austin Romine each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Chad Green won his fourth game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a  walk and a strikeout and Cory Gearrin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Tyler Lyons pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. 

Matthew Boyd pitched five innings giving up three hits and four runs with two of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out three and lost his 11th game of the season.  David McKay pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts, Bryan Garcia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two his and three runs with two walks and a strikeout and Jose Cisnero pitched to one batter and got him out.  Matt Hall pitched two innings giving up five hits and three runs with two strikeouts. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew three walks, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Voit had three hits and three RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Cameron Maybin had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Romine had three hits and drew a walk.  Romine, Voit and Maybin each hit a double and Gregorius hit a triple.  Voit and Encarnacion each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Maybin had two stolen bases. 

Victor Reyes had a hit, Jeimer Candelario had a hit and drew a walk and Miguel Cabrera had two hits and drew a walk.  Ronny Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI, Dawel Lugo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Christian Stewart had a hit.  Travis Demeritte had a hit and an RBI, Jake Rogers had two hits and Willi Castro had a hit and drew two walks.  Rogers, Castro and Cabrera each hit a double, Candelario hit a triple and Lugo, Demeritte each hit a homerun.  The Tigers were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Lugo, Candelario and Castro each committed an error. 

In the first Voit hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Encarnacion hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  In the fifth Lugo hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 4-2.  In the seventh a wild pitch allowed Judge to score and Maybin hit a two-run double extending the Yankees lead to 7-2.  In the bottom of the seventh Rodriguez hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 7-3.  In the eighth Voit hit an RBI single and Gregorius hit a two-run triple and the score was 10-3 Yankees.  In the bottom of the eighth Demeritte hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 10-4 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees defeat the Texas Rangers to win another home series


 The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1.  Chad Green served as the opener and pitched well, the bullpen also pitched well behind him.  Austin Romine had two hits to lead the offense and Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres each hit a homerun. 

Green pitched two scoreless innings giving up two hits and a walk.  He struck out four batters.  Luis Cessa picked up his second win of the season pitching three innings and giving up two hits and no runs with three strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Cory Gearrin pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Lance Lynn lost his 10th game of the season pitching five innings and giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Taylor Guerrieri pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Ian Gibaut pitched 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout and Luke Farrell pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks and Judge had a hit and two RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Mike Ford drew a walk and Torres had a hit and an RBI and Mike Tauchman had a hit and drew a walk.  Romine had two hits and an RBI and Tyler Wade drew a walk.  Romine hit a double and Judge and Torres each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Judge had an outfield assist. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, Elvis Andrus drew a walk and Willie Calhoun drew a walk.  Nick Solak had two hits, Rougned Odor had two hits and an RBI and Ronald Guzman had two hits.  Odor hit a homerun and the Rangers were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Judge hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun to push their lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Romine hit an RBI double to increase the lead to 4-0.  In the ninth Odor hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three in the series.  They have now gone 18-0-3 in their last 21 series at home.  They will have an off day on Thursday and head to Boston on Friday night to begin a four-game series.

New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-3.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Gio Urshela and Austin Romine each had three hits to lead the offense. 
German won his 16th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Adonis Rosa pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 
John Means pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and six runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Means lost his eighth game of the season.  Miguel Castro pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Chandler Shepherd pitched four innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and two strikeouts. 
DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI and Urshela had three hits and an RBI.  Gary Sanchez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Cameron Maybin had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Romine had three hits and Mike Tauchman had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gregorius, Judge, Sanchez, Tauchman and Urshela each hit a double and LeMahieu hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 6-14 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 
Anthony Santander had a hit and an RBI, Renato Nunez had a hit and an RBI and Jace Peterson had a hit.  Hanser Alberto had a hit, Stevie Wilkerson had a hit and an RBI and Rio Ruiz had a hit and drew a walk.  Alberto, Ruiz and Peterson each hit a double and Santander, Wilkerson and Nunez each hit a homerun. The Orioles were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.   Peterson had an outfield assist. 
In the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Maybin hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Santander hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Judge hit a two-run double to push the lead to 5-1.  Urshela hit an RBI single to make it a 6-1 game and Sanchez hit an RBI double to increase the lead to 7-1.  In the fifth Wilkerson hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 7-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Tauchman hit an RBI double to push the lead to 8-2.  In the ninth Nunez hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 8-3 and that would be the final score. 
The two teams will play the fourth and final game on Wednesday afternoon.  The Yankees will be looking for the four game sweep.

New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles for 7th straight win


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 9-4.  Jonathan Holder served as the opener and pitched well and the bullpen also pitched well.  Austin Romine had three hits, Mike Tauchman and DJ LeMahieu each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Holder pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Stephen Tarpley pitched two innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk, Nestor Cortes Jr. won his fifth game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Adam Ottavino picked up his first save of the season and pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Asher Wojciechowski pitched four innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his fifth game of the season.  Taylor Scott pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run and he walked two and struck out one, Miguel Castro pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and Richard Bleier pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk.  David Hess pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs. 

LeMahieu had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew three walks and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Cameron Maybin had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Mike Ford had a hit.  Romine had three hits and three RBI and Tauchman had two hits and two RBI.  Ford and Tauchman each hit a double and Romine hit two doubles.  Tauchman, LeMahieu, Gregorius, Romine, Gardner and Maybin each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Tauchman had a stolen base. 

Jonathan Villar had two hits and an RBI, Trey Mancini had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Santander had two hits and two RBI.  Renato Nunez had a hit, Pedro Severino had two hits and drew a walk and Hanser Alberto had a hit.  Stevie Wilkerson had a hit, Richie Martin had a hit and drew a walk and Mancini hit a double.  Villar hit a triple and Santander hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Tauchman hit a solo homerun and LeMahieu hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Gregorius hit a solo homerun and it was 3-0.  In the bottom of the third Villar hit an RBI triple and Mancini hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the fourth Romine hit a two-run double to push the lead to 5-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Santander hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the sixth Romine hit a solo homerun and it was 6-4 Yankees.  In the eighth Tauchman hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 7-4.  In the ninth Gardner hit a solo homerun and Maybin hit a solo homerun to make it a 9-4 game and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees get beat up by the Boston Red Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 10-5.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched poorly.  The Yankees pen didn’t pitch bad and Mike Tauchman and Austin Romine each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Paxton lost his sixth game of the season pitching four innings and giving up nine hits and seven runs.  He walked none and struck out nine.  David Hale pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs, Adam Ottavino pitched to one batter and struck him out and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with a  strikeout. 

Andrew Cashner pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up 10 hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Cashner won his 10th game of the season.  Marcus Walden pitched to one batter and struck him out, Josh Taylor pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Heath Hembree pitched giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked a batter.  Brandon Workman pitched a perfect inning. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and Edwin Encarnacion had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Luke Voit had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Gleber Torres had a hit.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and drew a walk, Tauchman had three hits and Romine had three hits and two RBI.  Tauchman, Judge and Romine each hit a double and the Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  LeMahieu was caught stealing. 

Mookie Betts had four hits and five RBI, Rafael Devers had three hits and an RBI and Xander Bogaerts had a hit.  J.D. Martinez had two hits and three RBI, Andrew Benintendi had a hit and Sam Travis had a hit and an RBI.  Michael Chavis had a hit, Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and Bogaerts, Betts, Benintendi and Travis each hit a double.  Devers hit two doubles and Martinez hit a triple.  Betts hit three homeruns and Martinez also hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Bogaets committed an error and Benintendi had an outfield assist. 

In the first Betts hit a solo homerun and Martinez hit a two-run homerun to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead.  In the third Betts hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  Martinez hit an RBI triple to extend the lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Betts hit a two-run homerun and it was 7-0 Red Sox.  In the sixth Voit hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Betts hit an RBI double and Devers hit an RBI double to push the lead to 9-1.  In the seventh Romine hit an RBI single and LeMahieu grounded into a double play to score a run and make it 9-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Travis hit an RBI double and in the ninth Romine hit an RBI double and Gregorius hit a sac fly to make it 10-5 which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees pound the Chicago White Sox to split the series


The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 10-3.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen did a good job and DJ LeMahieu, Brett Gardner, Gio Urshela, Austin Romine and Cameron Maybin each had two hits. 

Paxton won his fourth game of the season and pitched six innings giving up eight hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, David Hale pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Zach Britton pitched a perfect inning. 

Odrisamer Despaigne pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Jose Ruiz pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Aaron Bummer pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Thyago Vieira pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  Alex Colome pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Leury Garcia had a hit, Tim Anderson had a hit and Jose Abreu had three hits and an RBI.  James McCann had two hits and two RBI, Juan Moncada drew a walk and Jose Rondon drew a walk.  Welington Castillo had a hit, Yonder Alonso had a hit and Abreu and McCann each hit a homerun.  The White Sox were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Abreu hit a solo homerun to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gardner hit a two-run single to give the Yankee a 2-1 lead.  Urshela hit an RBI single and Romine hit a two-run single making it a 5-1 game.  In the fifth Romine hit a two-run double to push the Yankees lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of the fifth McCann hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the sixth Gardner hit into an RBI ground out to make it a 8-2 game.  In the seventh Maybin hit a solo homerun making it 9-2.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI single and it was 10-2.  In the bottom of the eighth McCann hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 10-3 and that would be the final score. 
The Yankees ended up with a four-game split and will return home to take on the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game series beginning on Monday night

New York Yankees take series from the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 7-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  DJ LeMahieu, Austin Romine and Mike Tauchman each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up five hits and a run with seven strikeouts.  He won his third game of the season.  Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two and Chad Green pitched a perfect inning by striking out the side. 

Blake Snell pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and 12 strikeouts.  Snell lost his fourth game of the season.  Chaz Roe pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and two strikeouts, Ryne Stanek pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Austin Pruitt pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Luke Voit drew three walks and Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI.  Clint Frazier drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI and Cameron Maybin drew a walk.  Thairo Estrada had a hit and an RBI, Romine had two hits and Tauchman had two hits and an RBI.  Romine, Tauchman and Urshela each hit a double.  Estrada hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Austin Meadows had two hits and an RBI, Tommy Pham had a hit and Ji-Man Choi had two hits.  Yandy Diaz had a hit, Avisail Garcia had a hit and Meadows hit a homerun.  The Rays were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the fifth Tauchman hit an RBI double and Lemhaieu hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Meadows hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the eighth a wild pitch made it 3-1.  Estrada hit a solo homerun in the ninth, Urshela hit a two-run double and Gardner hit a sac fly to make it 7-1 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees won two out of three and will head home to take on the Baltimore Orioles in a three-game series.  They will play on Monday night.

New York Yankees blow lead and then win it on a walk-off in tenth


The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-6.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Chad Green and Adam Ottavino had trouble out of the bullpen and Brett Gardner and Austin Romine led the team with three hits each. 

Paxton pitched six plus innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out 12.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with two strikeouts, Green pitched giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and didn’t record an out and Ottavino pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and he won his first game of the season.

Jorge Lopez pitched seven innings giving up eight hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out six.  Wily Peralta pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Scott Barlow pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jake Diiekman pitched giving up a run and two walks and took his first loss of the season.  Ian Kennedy pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Luke Voit had a hit and Gardner had three hits.  Clint Frazier had a hit and three RBI and Mike Tauchman had two hits and drew a walk.  Gio Urshela drew a walk, Mike Ford got his first major league hit and Romine had three hits and three RBI.  Tyler Wade drew a walk and Ford, LeMahieu and Tauchman each hit a double.  Frazier hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Britton had a pickoff. 

Whit Merrifield had two hits, Adalberto Mondesi had two hits and two RBI and Alex Gordon had two hits and three RBI.  Hunter Dozier had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Chris Owings drew a walk and Martin Maldonado had a hit.  Billy Hamilton had a hit and drew a walk, Gordon and Mondesi each hit a double.  Gordon and Dozier each hit a homerun and the Royals were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Mondesi had a stolen base and Hamilton had two stolen bases and Gore was caught stealing.  Maldonado had a passed ball. 

In the first a passed ball gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Romine hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Frazier hit a three-run homerun to extend the Yankees lead to 5-0.  In the eighth Mondesi hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 5-2, Gordon hit a three-run homerun to tie the game at five and one batter later Dozier hit a solo homerun giving the Royals a 6-5 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Romine hit an RBI single to tie the game at six.  In the tenth Romine hit an RBI walk-off single to give the Yankees the 7-6 victory. 

The Yankees took three out of four in the series and will now embark on a three team, nine game road trip to the west coast.

New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers in first game of double header


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Comerica Field in Detroit, Michigan and the final score was 7-4.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Austin Romine had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Severino started for the Yankees and won his ninth game of the season.  He pitched eight innings and gave up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out ten.  Jonathan Holder pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two unearned runs and Aroldis Chapman struck out the only batter that he faced and earned his 14th save of the season. 

Drew VerHagen pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with two walks and two strikeouts and he lost his second game of the season.  Sandy Baez pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up three walks and striking out four and Zac Reininger pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Greg Bird had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. -7  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI.  Clint Frazier had a hit and an RBI, Romine had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Torres, Bird and Romine each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gregorius had a stolen base and Torres and Romine each committed an error. 

Nick Castellanos had two hits and an RBI, Miguel Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Niko Goodrum had a hit and an RBI.  John Hicks had a hit, Jose Iglesias had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera, Goodrum and Iglesias each hit a double and the Tigers were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Machado committed an error. 

In the first Cabrera hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  In the third Torres hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Bird hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  Andujar hit an RBI single and Frazier hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead.  Romine hit a three-run homerun and it was 7-1 Yankees.  In the fifth Castellanos hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the ninth Goodrum hit an RBI double and Iglesias hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will complete their day/night doubleheader on Monday night.

New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 4-1.  Sonny Gray pitched very well and the bullpen finished it off.  Brett Gardner, Aaron Hicks, Austin Romine and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Gray pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with no walks and six strikeouts and he won his fourth game of the season.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman saved his 13th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with three strikeouts. 

Andrew Cashner lost his seventh game of the season pitching six innings giving up nine hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Tanner Scott pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts, Richard Bleier pitched an inning giving up two hits and Mike Wright Jr. pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Gardner had two hits, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Hicks had two hits and Neil Walker had a hit.  Romine had two hits, an RBI an drew a walk, Torres had two hits and an RBI and Hicks hit two doubles.  Torres and Romine each hit a double and Bird hit a triple.  Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-16 with runners in scoring position with eight men left on base.  Gardner and Gregorius each had a stolen base. 

Adam Jones drew a walk, Manny Machado had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Mark Trumbo had a hit.  Jonathan Schoop had a hit, Trey Mancini had a hit and Chance Sisco drew a walk.  Schoop and Mancini each hit a double and Machado hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Mancini had an outfield assist. 

In the first Machado hit a solo homerun to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the third Torres hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Bird hit an RBI triple to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Romine hti an RBI double to push the lead to 3-1 and in the seventh Judge hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-1.  The final score was 4-1. 

The two teams will try and play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.  The first game of the series was rained out and there is rain in the forecast for the next two days as well.

New York Yankees roll to victory and take eighth straight series


The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Kaufmann Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri and the final score was 10-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Miguel Andujar and Austin Romine each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Gray won his third game of the season pitching eight innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  A.J. Cole pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Eric Skoglund pitched five innings giving up eight hits and six runs with two walks and three strikeouts and he lost his fourth game of the season.  Brian Flynn pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Jason Adam pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had two hits.  Aaron Hicks had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Tyler Austin had two hits and four RBI and Andujar had three hits and an RBI.  Romine had three hits and two RBI, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and Gleyber Torres drew a walk.  Stanton and Romine each hit a double and Andujar and Hicks each hit a triple.  Austin hit two homeruns and Andujar and Romine each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

John Jay had a hit and an RBI, Mike Moustakas had a hit and Hunter Dozier had two hits.  Drew Butera drew a walk, the Royals were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the fourth Austin hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Romine hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Hicks hit an RBI triple to extend the lead to 4-0.  Austin hit a two-run homerun to make it a 6-0 game.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-0 and a wild pitch made it 8-0.  In the bottom of the eighth Jay hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-1.  In the ninth Andujar and Romine each hit a solo homerun to make it a 10-1 game and that was the final. 

The Yankees won their eighth straight series as they won two out of three.  They will head to Texas to begin a three-game series with the Rangers on Monday night.

New York Yankees defeat the Angels to end losing streak


The New York Yankees defeated the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-4.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Austin Romine had three hits and Matt Holliday and Gary Sanchez each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  He won his fifth game of the season.  Chad Green pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he had two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Tyler Clippard gave up two hits and two runs without recording an out.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Ricky Nolasco pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with five walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his ninth game of the season.  Mike Morin pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout and Jose Alvarez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Holliday had a hit and an RBI, Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI and Sanchez had two hits.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and two RBI, Chase Headley had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Romine had three hits and two RBI.  Romine and Holliday each hit a double and Gregorius and Holliday each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hicks was caught stealing and Holliday committed an error. 

Cameron Maybin drew two walks, Andrelton Simmons had three hits and Martin Maldonado had three hits and four RBI.  C.J. Cron drew a walk, Danny Espinosa had a hit and Maldonado hit a double and a homerun.  Simmons hit a double and the Angels were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Simmons had a stolen base and Maldonado was caught stealing. 

In the second Gregorius hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Maldonado hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Holliday hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Romine hit a two-run double and Hicks an RBI infield single to extend the Yankees lead to 6-2.  In the seventh Castro and Headley each hit an RBI single to push the lead to 8-2.  In the ninth Maldonado hit a two-run homerun to make it a 8-4 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Thursday night.

The New York Yankees lose to the Atlanta Braves in very sloppy game


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 10-2.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good but the defense also didn’t help him.  Austin Romine and Jorge Mateo lead the offense by each hitting a homerun. 

Sabathia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up six hits and six runs with four of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one and took the loss.  Ben Heller pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit.   Daniel Camarena pitched two innings giving up two hits and an unearned run with a strikeout, Domingo German pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and Yefry Ramirez pitched an inning giving up three hits and three unearned runs with a strikeout. 

Starlin Castro had a hit, Greg Bird drew a walk and Romine had a hit and an RBI.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Mateo had a hit and an RBI.  Higashioka hit a double and Romine and Mateo each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Castro and Andujar each committed an error and Torreyes committed three errors. 

In the first Nick Markakis hit an RBI single to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  Matt Kemp hit an RBI single to to extend the lead to 2-0.  Kurt Suzuki hit a two-run double, Balbino Fuenmayor hit a sac fly and Sean Kazmar hit an RBI double to make it 6-0 all in the first inning.  In the fifth Romine hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-1.  In the sixth Colin Walsh hit a sac fly and the score was 7-1 Braves.  In the sixth Mateo hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the ninth Kazmar reached on a throwing error and a run scored to make it 8-2.  Ronald Acuna hit a two run triple to push the lead to 10-2 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees blow late lead and drop another one in Boston



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 6-5.  Bryan Mitchell started for the Yankees and pitched ok and the bullpen was just ok.  Didi Gregorius and Austin Romine each had two hits. 

Mitchell pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out three.  Luis Severino pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three walks and a strikeout, Tommy Layne pitched to one batter and retired him and Adam Warren pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout.  Warren lost his fourth game of the season and blew his third save of the season.

David Price pitched six innings giving up nine hits and five runs with seven strikeouts.  Robbie Ross Jr. pitched 1/3 of an inning walking one, Matt Barnes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one and won his fourth game of the season and Craig Kimbrel pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out four and picking up his 27th save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI an ddrew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit and two RBI and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Billy Butler had a hit, Gregorius had two hits and drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit.  Romine had two hits and two RBI, Romine and Castro each hit a double and Gardner hit a triple.  Sanchez hit a  homerun and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gardner was caught stealing and Romine had a passed ball. 

Xander Bogaerts had three hits and three RBI, David Ortiz had an RBI and drew a walk and Mookie Betts had two hits and an RBI.  Hanley Ramirez had three hits, Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and drew two walks and Andrew Benintendi had a hit and drew a walk.  Benintendi and Ramirez each hit a double and Bogaerts hit two doubles.  Bogaerts hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Gardner hit an RBI triple to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Sanchez hit a two run homerun the lead was extended to 3-0.  Bogaets hit an RBI double in the third to cut the lead to 3-1.  Ortiz hit an RBI ground out to make it 3-2 still in the third.  In the fourth Romine hit a two run double to extend the lead to 5-2.  Bogaerts hit a two run homerun in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the seventh Betts hit an RBI single to make it 5-5 and a wild pitch gave the Red Sox a 6-5 lead.  The final score would be 6-5 and the Red Sox have taken the first three games of the four game series.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game on Sunday night.

New York Yankees avoid sweep in Baltimore



The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 5-2.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and pitched ok, the bullpen was great.  Austin Romine had two RBI. 

Pineda pitched four innings giving up two runs on five hits.  He walked two and struck out four.  Luis Severino pitched two innings giving up two walks and two strikeouts and he earned his second win of the season, Tommy Layne pitched to one batter retiring him and Adam Warren pitched to two batters retiring them both.  Tyler Clippard pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two and he saved his eighth game of the season. 

Wade Miley pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with four walks and four strikeouts and he suffered his 12th loss of the season.  Vance Worley pitched two innings giving up a hit and three walks with a strikeout, Oliver Drake pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a unearned run and he struck out one and Donnie Hart pitched to two batters and retired them both. 

Brett Gardner had an RBI and drew two walks, Rob Refsnyder had a hit and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez drew two walks.  Headley had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Romine had a hit and two RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Tyler Austin had a hit, Ronald Torreyes drew a walk and the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Adam Jones had two hits, Pedro Alvarez had a hit and an RBI and Manny Machado had a hit.  Mark Trumbo drew two walks, Chris Davis had two hits and drew a walk and Steve Pearce had an RBI and drew a walk.  Alvarez hit a double and the Orioles were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Trumbo committed an error. 

In the first Headley hit an RBI single and Romine hit a two run single to make it 3-0.  Headley hit an RBI single in the third to make it 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Pearce hit an RBI groundout to make it 4-1 Yankees.  Alvarez hit an RBI double in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth Gardner hit a sac fly to give the Yankees an insurance run and a 5-2 lead.  The final score would be 5-2. 

The Yankees salvaged the final game of the series and will head home to start a three game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday afternoon.

New York Yankees begin road trip with a win in Houston



The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Monday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 2-1.  The day started with the Yankees trading away their closer Aroldis Chapman for four players and ended with new closer or old closer depending on how you look at it closing it out.  Michael Pineda started and pitched really well and the bullpen closed it out.  Carlos Beltran, Chase Headley and Austin Romine each had two hits. 

Pineda pitched seven innings giving up a run on five hits.  He walked two and struck out eight and won his fifth game of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and saved his eighth game of the season. 

Dallas Keuchel pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his 10th game of the season.  Luke Gregerson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit. 

Beltran had two hits, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Headley had two hits and an RBI.  Romine had two hits and an RBI, Gregorius, Beltran and Romine each hit a double.  The Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Torreyes had a stolen base and Castro committed an error. 

George Springer had a hit and an RBI, Jose Altuve had a hit and Carlos Correa drew a walk.  Luis Valbuena had three hits and drew a walk, Carlos Gomez had a hit and Springer hit a homerun.  The Astros were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Valbuena and a Gomez had a stolen base. 

In the first Springer hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Headley hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Romine hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees finish off an impressive series with a win in Cleveland



The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 11-7.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well but Nathan Eovaldi did in relief.  Jacoby Ellsbury, Carlos Beltran, Mark Teixeira, Starlin Castro and Austin Romine each had two hits. 

Tanaka pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and seven runs with only three of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five.  Eovaldi earned his seventh win of the season pitching 4 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and three walks with three strikeouts. 

Carlos Carrasco pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out four and lost his third game of the season.  Austin Adams pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs, Jeff Manship pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three unearned runs with a walk and TJ House pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run.  Joseph Colon pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Dan Otero pitched an inning giving up a hit and Bryan Shaw pitched an inning striking out one. 

Brett Gardner had two RBI and drew a walk, Ellsbury had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Beltran had two hits and an RBI.  Teixeira had two hits and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Castro had two hits and drew a walk.  Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI, Rob Refsnyder had a hit and  Romine had two hits and an RBI.  Castro, Romine, Headley and Gregorius each hit a double.  Ellsbury hit a homerun and the Yankees were 5-16 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Carlos Santana had two hits, Jeff Kipnis had two hits and Francisco Lindor had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Mike Napoli had a hit and drew two walks, Jose Ramirez had a hit and an RBI and Lonnie Chisenhall had a hit.  Rajai Davis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Tyler Naquin had a hit and two RBI and Yan Gomes drew a walk.  Santana and Lindor each hit a double and Naquin hit a homerun.  The Indians were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Davis had a stolen base and Santana, Ramirez and Lindor each committed an error. 

In the second Refsnyder reached on an error and a run scored to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Ellsbury hit a three run homerun to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the second Davis hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the fourth Gardner hit into a force out and a run scored making it a 5-1 game.  Headley reached on a force attempt error and two runs scored to make it 7-1.  Romine hit a sac fly to make it 8-1 still in the fifth inning.  Gardner hit a sac fly, Beltran hit an RBI single and Teixeira hit an RBI single making it an 11-1 game.  The Indians would answer back with six runs of their own in the fifth.  Lindor hit an RBI double, Ramirez hit an RBI single and Davis reached on an error to make it an 11-5 game.  Naquin hit a two run homerun and it was 11-7 Yankees, that would be the final score of the game. 

The Yankees took three of four in this series and ended their road trip at 5-5.  They are at the 500 mark at the All Star Break and will begin the second half with a ten game homestand.

New York Yankees open three game home stand with a win



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New  York and the final score was 6-0.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and pitched great.  Jacoby Ellsbury and Austin Romine each had two hits. 

Eovaldi pitched 6+ innings giving up no runs and two hits.  He walked three and struck out five and earned his fifth win of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a walk and Luis Cessa pitched a perfect inning. 

R.A. Dickey took his sixth loss of the season pitching 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Joe Biagini pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Jesse Chavez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and Pat Venditte pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Ellsbury had two hits and an RBI, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Mark Teixeira had a hit.  Carlos Beltran had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Dustin Ackley had a hit and Aaron Hicks drew a walk.  Chase Headley had an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Romine had two hits and an RBI.  Romine hit a double, Ellsbury hit a triple and Beltran hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Jose Bautista had a hit and drew a walk, Troy Tulowitzki had a hit and drew a walk and Jimmy Paredes drew a walk.  Josh Thole drew a walk, the Blue Jays were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Tulowitzki had a stolen base and Thole had two passed balls. 

In the first Beltran grounded into an RBI force out making it 1-0 Yankees.  In the fourth Beltran hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0 Yankees.  Romine hit an RBI double in the seventh and Ellsbury hit an RBI single making it 4-0 Yankees.  In the eighth Headley hit a sac fly and Gregorius hit an RBI single making it 6-0 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees win their second straight over the Boston Red Sox



The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-2.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and he pitched very well and Chase Headley and Didi Gregorius each had two hits and Austin Romine had three hits to lead the offense. 

Eovaldi pitched eight innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Eovaldi won his second game of the season.  Nick Goody pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

David Price lost his first game of the season pitching 4 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Matt Barnes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Tommy Layne pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Sean O'Sullivan pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Starlin Castro had a hit and drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira had a hit, Carlos Beltran had a hit and two RBI and Dustin Ackley drew a walk.  Headley had two hits, Gregorius had two hits and three RBI and Romine had three hits and two RBI.  Romine hit two doubles and Gregorius and Beltran each hit a double.  The Yankees were  3-13 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Headley committed an error. 

Mookie Betts had two hits, Xander Bogaerts had a hit and Hanley Ramirez had a hit.  Brock Holt had a hit and an RBI, Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit adn an RBI and Bradley hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the second Holt hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the third Romine hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a three run double and the Yankees had a 4-1 lead.  In the fifth Bradley Jr. hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the fifth Beltran hit a two run double to extend the Yankees lead to 6-2.  In the sixth Hicks hit a sac fly and it was 7-2 Yankees.  In the eighth Romine hit an RBI double to make it 8-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have won the first two of this three game series and will go for the sweep on Sunday night.  They have also won three of their last four games.
