The Yankees get crushed by the White Sox as Warren and Wade struggle

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Friday night by the score of 14-7. The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx,NY. Adam Warren was making his major league debut and it showed as he got hit really hard. David Phelps ate up some innings in relief and will most likely now fill the spot of Warren going forward. Cory Wade got hit really hard and I would expect him to be sent down or released tonight or tomorrow. Andruw Jones and Nick Swisher led the Yankees offense. 
Warren pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and six runs. He walked two batters and struck out one. Phelps took the loss, his third of the season pitching 3 1/3 innings and giving up four hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out five. Clay Rapada retired the only batter that he faced, Wade pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with a walk and three strikeouts. DeWayne Wise faced two hitters and retired them both. Yes it isn’t a misprint Wise the outfielder did come in to pitch. Jose Quintana got the win, his third of the season. He pitched six innings giving up eight hits and six runs with three walks and five strikeouts. Matt Thornton pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout, Nate Jones pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out two and Leyson Septimo made his major league debut pitching a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.

Derek Jeter had a hit and drew a walk, Curtis Granderson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Mark Teixeira had a hit. Alex Rodriguez had a hit and drew a walk, Robinson Cano had a hit and an RBI and Swisher had two hits and drew a walk. Jones had two hits and two RBI, Nix had a hit and two RBI and Chris Stewart had a hit. Jeter, Nix and Teixeira each had a double and Jones had two doubles. Granderson hit a homerun. The Yankees were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and they left seven men on base. Cano was caught stealing and Stewart committed an error.

De Aza had a hit and two RBI, Kevin Youkilis had an RBI and Adam Dunn had a hit and an RBI and drew two walks. Paul Konerko had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Alex Rios had two hits and an RBI and A.J. Pierzynski had three hits and three RBI. Viciedo had two hits and drew a walk, Alexi Ramirez had four hits and three RBI and Gordon Beckham had three hits and two RBI. Beckham had two doubles, Vicideo, Ramirez and De Aza each had a double. Pierzynski hit two homeruns, Konerko and Ramirez each hit a homerun. The White Sox were 7-17 with runners in scoring position and they left nine men on base. Rios had a stolen base and Ramirez committed an error.

Granderson hit a two run homerun in the first and Jones hit a two run double. The Yankees had a 4-0 lead in the first inning. The White Sox came right back in the second inning. Pierzynski hit a solo homerun, Beckham hit a two run double and Youkilis had an RBI groundout to make it a 4-4 game. In the third Konerko hit a solo homerun to make it 5-4 White Sox. Pierzynski hit an RBI single to make it 6-4 White Sox. Nix hit a two run double to tie the game at six in the fourth inning. In the fifth Pierzynski hit his second homerun of the game to make it 7-6 White Sox. Rios hit an RBI single in the sixth to push the lead to 8-6. Ramirez hit a two run homerun in the seventh and it was 10-6 White Sox. In the bottom of the seventh Cano hit an RBI groundout and it was 10-7 White Sox. In the ninth the White Sox would add four more runs and put the game away.

The Yankees have lost their second game in a row after winning five in a row prior. The Yankees will try and get a game in the four game series on Saturday afternoon. The Yankees record fell to 46-30. The White Sox improved their record to 42-35. The Yankees own a four game lead over the Baltimore Orioles for first place in the AL East.
