The New York Yankees win seventh straight behind their ace



The New York Yankees defeated the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-1 Yankees.  Masahiro Tanaka started and pitched great once again.  Ramon Flores and Brian McCann each had three hits and Stephen Drew hit two homeruns. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up a run on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts.  Tanaka won his fourth game of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Andrew Miller retired the only batter that he faced. 

Max Scherzer lost his fifth game of the season pitching 6 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Matt Thornton pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Taylor Hill pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and Mark Teixeira had a hit and drew a walk.  McCann had three hits and two RBI, Carlos Beltran had two hits and an RBI and Drew had two hits and two RBI.  Flores had three hits, McCann and Teixeira each hit a double and Drew hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Yunel Escobar had two hits, Bryce Harper had two hits and an RBI and Clint Robinson had a hit and drew a walk.  Wilson Ramos had a hit, Escobar and Harper each hit a double and Harper hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Desmond committed an error and Taylor had an outfield assist. 

In the third Drew hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Harper hit a solo homerun in the fourth to tie the game at one.  In the seventh Alex Rodriguez reached on a fielder's choice and a run scored.  McCann hit a two run single and Beltran hit an RBI single and it was 5-1 Yankees.  Drew hit a solo homerun in the eighth to make it 6-1 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees have won seven in a row and all four games on the homestand.  They will play Washington on Wednesday afternoon in the final game of a five game homestand.  They will be off on Thursday and begin a three game series in Baltimore on Friday night.

The New York Yankees drop the finale in Oakland



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Sunday evening.  The game took place at O.co Colisseum in Oakland, California and the final score was 3-0 Oakland.  Adam Warren started for the Yankees and pitched well.  The Yankees offense didn't get much going, Alex Rodriguez did have two hits and Ramon Flores recorded his first major league hit. 

Warren pitched  seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Warren lost his fourth game of the season, Esmil Rogers pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Jacob Lindgren retired the only batter that he faced and David Carpenter retired the only batter that he faced.  Jesse Chavez pitched eight innings giving up seven htis and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Chavez won his second game of the season.  Tyler Clippard recorded his seventh save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit with a walk and striking out one. 

Chase Headley had a hit, Alex Rodriguez had two hits and Mark Teixeira had a hit.  Carlos Beltran drew a walk, Ramon Flores had a hit and Didi Gregorius had two hits.  Jose Pirela had a hit, the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner committed an error. 

Billy Burns had three hits, Ben Zobrist had a hit and Stephen Vogt had a hit and three RBI.  Billy Butler had a hit, Josh Reddick drew a walk and Max Muncy had two hits.  Vogt hit a homerun and the Athletics were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Burns had two stolen bases. 

In the sixth Vogt hit a two run homerun to give the Athletics a 2-0 lead.  In the eighth Vogt hit a sacrifice fly and it was 3-0 Athletics.  The final score of the game was 3-0.  The Yankees lost three of four in the series and will head to Seattle to take on the Mariners in a three game series beginning on Monday night.

The New York Yankees rally and defeat the Detroit Tigers on a walk-off homerun



The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers by the score of 9-8 on Tuesday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.  Esmil Rogers started for the Yankees and wasn't very good, Dellin Betances also continued to struggle.  Mark Teixeira had a couple of hits and Ramon Flores had the game winning homerun. 

Rogers pitched three innings giving up five hits and five runs with one of them being earned.  he walked two and struck out two.  Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out one, Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Justin Wilson pitched an inning striking out one.  Nick Rumbelow pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out two, James Pazos pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out three and Diego Moreno picked up his first win of the spring pitching an inning and walking one. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Jonathan Galvez drew a walk and Carlos Beltran had a hit and an RBI.  Aaron Judge drew a walk, Teixeira had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Francisco Arcia had an RBI.  John Ryan Murphy had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Alex Rodriguez had a hit and drew a walk and Kyle Higashioka had an RBI and drew a walk.  Stephen Drew had a hit, Ali Castillo drew a walk and Chris Young had a hit.  Flores had a hit and three RBI, Didi Gregorius ahd a hit and an RBI and Beltran, Teixeira, Young and Gregorius each hit a double.  Flores hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gardner had two stolen bases and Judge had a stolen base.  Rogers committed an error and Arcia committed two errors and McCann had a passed ball. 

In the first Yoenis Cespedes hit an RBI single to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead and in the bottom of the first the Yankees came right back to tie the game at one.  Teixeira hit an RBI double and in the second Ian Kinsler hit a two run single to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.  J.D. Martinez hit a two run double to give the Tigers a 5-1 lead.  In the third Beltran hit a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 5-2.  Nick Castellanos hit an RBI single in the fifth to give the Tigers a 6-2 lead.  In the seventh Alex Avila hit an RBI double to push the Tigers lead to 7-2 and Andrew Romine reached on a fielding error and a run scored to push the lead to 8-2 Tigers.  In the seventh Gregorius hit an RBI double and Arcia hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 8-4.  Higashioka had an RBI walk to trim the lead down to 8-5.  In the ninth Murphy hit an RBI single to make it an 8-6 game and then Flores hit a three run homerun to make it 9-8 and win the game. 

The Yankees will take on the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.

New York Yankees rally to win at Houston



The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros by the score of 9-4 on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place in Kissimmee, Florida.  Scott Baker started the game and was roughed up and only lasted one inning.  The bullpen guys did a pretty good job.  The Yankees offense was led once again by the young guys.  Greg Bird, Ramon Flores and Jake Cave each hit a homerun, Jose Pirela had an RBI triple and Rob Refsnyder had a couple of RBI. 

Baker pitched an inning giving up three runs on six hits.  He walked none and struck out two.  Danny Burawa pitched one inning walking two and striking out one, Jose De Paula pitched two innings giving up one hit and striking out one and Nick Rumbelow pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Tyler Webb pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out two, Kyle Davies pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Caleb Cotham pitched an inning giving up two hits and striking out one, he earned the win.  Zach Nuding pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Nick Noonan had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and Pirela had a hit and an RBI.  Stephen Drew worked a walk, Refsnyder had a hit and two RBI and Mark Teixeira had a hit. Bird had a hit an two RBI, Austin Romine drew a walk and John Ryan Murphy had a hit.  Kyle Roller drew a walk, Tyler Wade had a hit and Aaron Judge drew a walk.  Flores had a hit and an RBI, Jonathan Galvez had a hit and Cave had two hits and an RBI.  Noonan hit a double, Pirela hit a triple and Flores, Cave and Bird each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  The Yankees next game will be on Sunday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field against the Washington Nationals. 

In the first the Astros took a 3-0 lead.  Chris Carter had a two run double and Luis Valbuena hit an RBI single.  In the sixth Flores hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1 Astros.  In the bottom of the sixth the Astros got the run right back on a Jason Castro RBI double.  The Yankees scored in the eighth on a Cave solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-2 and then Pirela hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the ninth the Yankees scored six times to take a 9-4 lead and that was the final score.  Noonan had an RBI walk, Refsnyder had a two run single, a balk scored another run and Bird hit a two run homerun to finish the scoring.
