Today is Mothers day, Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there. Look for the Pink bats today in honor of Breast cancer awareness and research. Here are the pregame notes and lineup as always via Peter Abraham.
The game is on at 1:35 on YES.
The Yankees have lost 6 of 7 and are 5-10 in their last 15 games.
The Yankees have a run differential of -23. There are only 5 teams in baseball that are worse and they are the Padres, Orioles, Nationals, Indians and Diamondbacks. The team with the best run differential is the Dodgers, they are +59.
The Yankees are 4-11 against their own division, they are 2-12 when they commit an error. They are 2-6 in May. They have allowed 190 runs which is the most in baseball. They have scored 167 runs which is 5th most in baseball- I still think the hitting coach is terrible but they have games where they score a bunch which boosts their average but when it counts they don't score. They got killed yesterday but it was another example when with the bases loaded and 0 outs they were only able to manage 1 run.
Johnny Damon is on fire going 11 for his last 21 with 7 extra base hits and 10 rbi's. Melky Cabrera has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games.
Robinson Cano is 3 of his last 30, he has 1 rbi in his last 10 games. It would help if him Jeter and Tex started hitting a little as they are getting nothing out of these guys.
Why is Angel Berroa on this team, he has played in 7 of 17 games with 12 ab's. Ramiro Pena will be the defensive replacement and if your looking for pop off the bench I think they have a few other guys in the minors that would be more useful but with the Yanks I don't get it just like the pitchers they sent back down and Edwar Ramirez and Jose Veras are still around.
Derek Jeter has 7 stolen bases, he only had 11 all of last season. Joba will pitch despite the burst blood vessel.
