The New York Giants roll past the New Orleans Saints

The New York Giants special teams did some heavy lifting on Sunday evening. The Giants were able to beat the New Orleans Saints by the score of 52-27, rookie David Wilson set a Giants rookie record for most all purpose yards ever. The Giants rookie had a 97 yard kick return for a touchdown and a couple of other long ones which really set up the Giants field position all day.
Eli Manning was 22-35 for 259 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. Wilson had 13 rushing attempts for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Ahmad Bradshaw had 11 carries for 33 yards and Henry Hynoski had one carry for five yards.

Victor Cruz led the receivers with eight catches for 121 yards and a touchdown, Hakeem Nicks had four catches for 67 yards and a touchdown and Martellus Bennett had five catches for 32 yards and a touchdown. Domenik Hixon had three catches for 30 yards and a touchdown and Hynoski had two catches for nine yards.

Lawrence Tynes was 1-2 on field goals making from 39 yards and he had seven extra points. Stevie Brown on defense had two interceptions and the Giants had one sack from Osi Umenyiora. Michael Boley led the defense with seven tackles and three assists.

Drew Brees was 26-43 for 354 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. Mark Ingram led the rushing with 13 attempts for 68 yards. Darren Sproles had five rushes for 56 yards and a touchdown, Pierre Thomas had five rushes for 19 yards.

Joseph Morgan led the receivers with two catches for 106 yards. Marques Colston had four receptions for 61 yards, Thomas had seven receptions for 57 yards, Jimmy Graham had five catches for 56 yards and Darren Sproles had four for 28 yards and a touchdown. Lance Moore had one catch for 26 yards, Devery Henderson had one for 11 yards and Jed Collins had two catches for nine yards.

Garrett Hartley was 2-2 in field goals with his long being from 32 yards and he made three extra points. The Saints defense had two interceptions and Curtis Lofton led their defense with seven tackles and two assists.

The Giants remain in first place in the NFC East. They are now 8-5 on the season and will travel to Atlanta for their next game on Sunday. The Saints record dropped to 5-8 on the season and they will have to win out and hope for a lot of luck, but they are basically out of the playoffs now.

The Saints go Marching In

That was a pretty exciting Super Bowl, it started off kind of boring. The game really got crazy in the second half. I can't believe the Saints won by 14 points especially after being down 10-0 early. It was a offensive game like everyone thought but the big play of the game was an interception return for a touchdown by Porter of the Saints that esentially sealed the game. Peyton Manning had over 300 yds passing but that interception is what he will be remembered for in this game. The Colts had one last chance to score a touchdown with just under 2 minutes remaining but decided to run it which I don't get and were stopped and then the celebration really began. The final score was Saints 31 Colts 17, the game was really closer then it would seem. How did everyone like the game?? What are your thoughts on the outcome?? How about the commercials, I liked the Coke one with the Simpsons and the Tim Tebow ad turned out to be a dud for what it was being hyped up to be. I really didn't see any problem with that ad. I would like to hear everyones thoughts on the commercials also, if you didn't see all of them or can't remember they have them all up on youtube to view. I thought Carrie Underwood did a good job with the National Anthem and The Who was pretty good with their light show. It wasn't much of a coincidence that they played all the CSI songs considering they were on CBS which is the channel the show is on. I would love to hear everyones thoughts on the Super Bowl and anything else to do with it. The Super Bowl is over so lets close out football with this today and then it is on to Baseball. Today is Truck Day for the New York Yankees and on Thursday Pitchers and Catchers will report.

Super Bowl Sunday

The Super Bowl is tomorrow at 6:25PM from Miami,Florida. It looks like it will be a very good game. I think this will be a high scoring shootout type game. I could see it being who ever has the ball last will win. I am picking the Colts to win but I could see the Saints winning also. I think Reggie Bush could be the X factor as he could break a punt return or a run or catch some passes and break loose. I think if the Saints play the way they did against the Vikings they may lose big, they can't expect the Colts to turn the ball over 5 times. As in any football game turnovers will be a huge key. I am going to pick the Colts to win 42-35. What does everyone else think, lets discuss the game and get some predictions in the comments section. I am just hoping for a good game as I have no real rooting interest although I would like to see Peyton and the Colts win another one. Does anyone have any thoughts on the halftime show?? commercials?? The pregame with Carrie Underwood doing the national anthem and Daughtry performing??

Super Bowl Week

The Super Bowl will be upon us on Sunday but this week is the buildup to the Big Game. It hasn't really gotten too entertaining yet. The one big thing is that the defensive coordinator for the Saints basically said they are going to try and hurt Peyton Manning. The other story line so far is colts defensive end Dwight Freeney being injured. The question is will he even play but even if he does how effective will he be. This is definitely a huge break for the Saints. I expect this to be shootout anyway but this will definitely give the Saints more of a chance. I would expect this game to get in the high 30's if not 40's. It hasn't gotten a lot of attention yet but Archie Manning who is the father of Colts QB Peyton Manning used to be the QB for the New Orleans Saints. It is an interesting story even though of course he is going to root for his son. I don't know if this is a story but Saints running back Reggie Bush said he would propose to his girlfriend Kim Kardashian if the Saints won the Super Bowl. He only needs one more win so lets see what happens. There is actually a prop bet on this to see how long it will take if they win.

NFL Championship Round

The AFC and NFC Championship games will be played tomorrow. The first game will be the New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts for the AFC title. The Colts were undefeated in week 16 when the Jets came to town needing to win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Jets did pull out a controversial victory and have reeled off 3 more in a row after that to get to this point. The reason the game was controversial is because the Colts were 14-0 and leading at the half when head coach Jim Caldwell decided to pull his starters and the Jets went on to win the game keeping them in the playoff hunt and eventually they did make it and won 2 playoff games on the road to get here. The Colts fans really wanted the undefeated season and this is something that win or lose will be discussed all offseason. If the Colts do go on and win a Super Bowl it won't be as big of a deal but everyone will still wonder if they would have gone undefeated and if they lose well then it really will be criticized. I really like what the Jets have done in the playoffs and they won't change their style now. They will run the ball and play good defense but in my mind the Colts are the best team in football and they are home. I don't see the Jets winning this game although it should be close. I am picking the Colts to win by the score of 24-17. The NFC Championship will be at 630 tomorrow night and have the Minnesota Vikings taking on the New Orleans Saints. The Saints who have been a long suffering franchise will host their first ever title game. They have never made it to the Super Bowl. I think with all that has gone on in that city they really need this and are riding a wave of momentum and passion. The Vikings have played great football this season but not on the road and I think this will be the end for them. I see the Saints winning this game by the score of 35-21. I hope everyone enjoys the championship games and tomorrow night we will find out who will be facing off in the Super Bowl.

NFL Playoffs Recap

The New Orleans Saints came into their playoff game with the Arizona Cardinals limping. They had lost 3 straight to end the season after opening with 13 straight victories. The Arizona Cardinals won a thrilling game against Green Bay last week and were riding some momentum. The Saints took care of all that yesterday and looked like the team they were for most of the season. They beat the Cardinals by the score of 45-14. The Saints took the time at the end of the season and the bye to rest some guys and get healthy. Jeremy Shockey was back and played a good game. He was his wild, emotional self and that seemed to lift the Saints early. Reggie Bush had his best game as a pro with over 200 all purpose yards. He looked like the man that played at USC 4 yrs ago and won the heisman. The Saints will take on the Vikings at home in their first every NFC Championship game. The Saints will be looking to make their first trip to the Super Bowl. The Vikings led by ageless wonder Brett Favre put a spanking on the Dallas Cowboys today and beat them 34-3. Dallas was riding momentum after finishing the season strong and then winning their first playoff game in 15 years last week. Minnesota weathered a early storm from Dallas and then never looked back. They finished the season 9-0 at home. They will take on the Saints in New Orleans next week, it should be a high scoring game. The Indianapolis Colts who were heavily criticized for not going for the record undefeated season came out and took care of business over the Baltimore Ravens yesterday. They won the game 20-3. They were never really in danger in this game and the Colts didn't look great but they didn't have to be in this one. They will host the AFC title game for the right to go to the Super Bowl. The New York Jets who have been the big underdogs keep living up to their talking. They came out to San Diego and weathered a dominating first half by the Chargers. The Chargers were in control but only led 7-0 at the half. The New York Jets turned it on in the second half and won the game by the score of 17-14. Nick Kading the placekicker will be kicking himself for missing 3 field goals. The Jets defense is starting to really earn its stripes and will now head to Indianapolis for what will be their toughest test. The thing is if they could go into San Diego and win they could probably beat anyone. San Diego definitely helped the Jets but all that matters is they got the victory, it doesn't matter how. The Jets and their fans should enjoy this one and then start looking ahead to Indy. The Jets beat the Colts in Indy in week 15 after the Colts were heavily criticized for pulling their starters after the first half. The Colts will surely be fired up for this one as they want to show the Jets they can beat them. It should be a fun weekend next weekend with the title games.

Local NFL teams embarrassed

The New York Jets lost to the lowly Buffalo Bills at home yesterday 16-13 and the New York Giants got shredded defensively 48-27. There wasn't much to talk about with the Giants game as they couldn't stop New Orleans at all, it was a pitiful defensive performance. The officiating was terrible as the Giants had 2 huge plays go against them but in the end it didn't matter as they just simply couldn't stop New Orleans. The Giants will go back to the drawing board and hopefully figure something out defensively as they get ready for Arizona at home on Sunday night. The Jets were just beat by a terrible team. Mark Sanchez looked like the rookie he is with 5 interceptions and Rex Ryan looked like a rookie head coach once again. This loss was really bad and now they got to decide what to do with the QB as he may just not be ready and may have no confidence left. The Jets travel to play a weak Oakland team that they have to beat but who is the right QB for the job?? I wonder if they will make a switch, doubt it but its worth thinking about. The Jets running game was the lone bright spot as they had over 200 yards rushing.

NFL week 6

The New York Giants will be playing at the New Orleans Saints at 1. The New York Jets will be playing at home against the Buffalo Bills at 4. The Giants are in the marquee matchup of the week. Drew Brees and the Saints have the number 1 ranked offense in the country and the Giants have a good offense also. Jeremy Shockey will be all fired up I am sure to face his former team and try and stick it to them. I am going to pick the Giants going out on a limb and saying 28-24. I would not be shocked if they lost a close game though. I expect this to be a very entertaining good game. The Jets are playing the Bills and after 2 losses in a row will try and get back on track. I think this is a good matchup for them and they shouldn't have too much trouble. I would expect the Jets to run the ball with the weather being bad out and get the running game going. I am going to pick the Jets 24-10. I am not going to pick a random game this week as I am doing this so late. I was 1-2 last week and am now 5-3 on the season. I am looking to bounce back with a clean sweep of the local teams. Everyone enjoy the football and I will recap the games later on tonight.
