The New York Jets win their final game to end a miserable 4-12 season

The New York Jets won their final game of the season in Miami.  They had a dreadful season finishing it at 4-12.  The Jets didn't waste any time firing their head coach Rex Ryan who had a good run and changed the franchise to some degree with his brash style.  John Idzik the GM didn't survive either as he has been fired from the team.  The most amazing thing about this season is that Geno Smith finished the game with a perfect passer rating.  Maybe there is hope for him and the Jets after all.  He was benched earlier this season in favor of veteran Michael Vick who really didn't do much either in his time with the team.  The Jets just didn't have enough talent and they went to Vick too late in the season for it to mean anything anyway.  The Jets need to find a quarterback and I don't know if they will trade for one, draft one or sign a veteran free agent, we will see but they need to do something.

The final score was 37-24 and this game took place in Miami.  Geno Smith was 20-25 for 358 yards and three touchdowns.  Chris Ivory led the rushing attack with 13 carries for 29 yards.  Owusu had one carry for 23 yards and it was a touchdown.  Eric Decker led the receivers with 10 catches for 221 yards  and a touchdown.  Sudfeld had two catches for 44 yards.  Chris Johnson had 10 carries for 20 yards rushing.  Nick Folk made three of four field goals and all four extra points.

Ryan Tannehill of the Dolphins was 23-39 for 259 yards and a touchdown.  Miller had 19 carries for 178 yards and a touchdown.  Hartline had five catches for 94 yards, Landry had five catches for 55 yards and Clay had five for 45 yards.

Harris had 2 1/2 sacks for the Jets, Coples had two, Davis and Richardson each had one and Wilkerson had 1/2 a sack.   The Jets had a miserable season and it came to an end on a positive.  The team will not be the same at all as the head coach and GM will be different and I am sure they will be trying to find a new quarterback at the very least to challenge Smith.

New York Yankees news and notes from the past couple of days

Andy Pettitte showed up in camp on Monday.  he is only sta ing a couple of days this time and no will not be coming out of retirement. He will be back with his family on Wednesday and stated that he is enjoying it and had no itch to go back to training and getting ready for the season this winter.  He stated as a competitor you will always miss it but he is happy with being home and spending more time with his family.  As far as Derek Jeter goes he said he was surprised but not surprised.  He said that they talked a lot about it last year and he knew Derek was different then in years past.  He said that he and Mo knew but just didn't know when it would be.

Brian McCann is the new catcher so he hasn't seen Ivan Nova be great and also have his down times in the last couple of years.  He didn't see hit  have to go to AAA and then come back and dominate with a 2.78 ERA in the second half of last season.  What he has seen is what is happening so far in spring training.  Nova threw 36 pitches on Monday and 31 of them were strikes.  It was his second spring start. "When you've got good stuff, you can pund the zone all day long and you can go right at hitters."  McCann said.  "It doesn't matter.  He changes eye levels.  He does so many good things.  Today's outing was beyond impressive."  Those are very nice words from an all-star catcher who has seen his share of good pitching in Atlanta.

Nova said that he has set some goals for this year but wouldn't exactly reveal them.  He did say this though "I don't want to be going back and forth every time.  I just want to be a pitcher that the team can trust every five days.  I just want to do my job every five days.  That's one of the goals that I really want, that I want to be consistent.  I think I can do that and be really good.  My body feels good, so I'll just wait until the season and prove what I can do."
He also discussed winning a championship.  If he continues doing what he is doing it will help towards that.

He is a number four starter and maybe number three if they break up the two Japanese pitchers.  He has the

potential to be a top of the rotation type guy though.

The Yankees play a night game Tuesday night in Tampa.  Derek Jeter will DH in that game instead of making

the long trip to Port Charlotte to face the Rays on Wednesday.  Mark Teixeira took live BP on Monday, he will

take more on Tuesday.  He will rest on Wednesday and then get in a game on Thursday.  Alfonso Soriano is

also expected to make his debut on Thursday.

David Robertson made his spring debut on Monday.  There is no way to predict a save in spring and even if

you saved him for the ninth inning he would be facing all minor leaguers anyway.  He hit the first batter that

he faced and then got a double play and a fly ball out.  He stated it was ok.  "I got three outs, I can't complain

about that.  I didn't walk anybody.  I accidentally hit the first batter on my second pitch.  it was a decent

outing.  I felt like my velocity was good.  I was behind everything.  I pulled maybe five or six pitches that I

shouldn't have out of the zone.  That was really it."  He will get a lot of scrutiny because he is becoming the

closer following the iconic MO.  It wouldn't be a job that I would want but he has been on the team for a

while and has been a great set-up man.  He deserves the chance.  I don't think we will really know about him

until a couple of months into the season, I would bet on him being fine though.

Nova only needed 36 pitches in three innings so eh went to the bullpen after the game to get up to 45

pitches.  In his first start 35 pitches wasn't enough to get through two innings.  He showed great

improvement and that is what you look for.

Joe Namath was in camp today and the players seemed to enjoy it.  Namath seemed to really relish it

as well. He threw out the first pitch dressed in all Yankees gear.  He talked a lot about Jeter.  He said

he played baseball in high school but back then he wasn't allowed to play two sports at Alabama in

college.

Steve Donahue knows him from being an interim trainedr with the Jets when Namath played.  When

Robertson was a freshman at Alabama he had a class with Namath's daughter Jessica who was also at

the game.  They did some catching up.  Brett Gardner is hitting 429 in the early going.  Francisco

Cervelli is hitting 571 in the early going.

The New York Jets end their miserable season with a loss in Buffalo

The New York Jets lost to the Buffalo Bills by the score of 28-9 on Sunday. The game took place at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, New York. The Jets looked as miserable as they have all season, Mark Sanchez got another chance to start and wasn’t very good once again. Tim Tebow didn’t play at all and he will be gone very shortly I suspect.
Sanchez was 17-35 for 205 yards, no touchdowns an an interception. Shonn Greene led the rushing attack with 74 yards on 19 attempts. Bilal Powell had 56 yards on 12 carries, Lex Hilliard had two yards on a carry and Joe McKnight had two yards on a carry.

Jeremy Kerley had three receptions for 88 yards, Braylon Edwards had four receptions for 42 yards and Jeff Cumberland had three receptions for 36 yards. Jordan White had one reception for 13 yards, Powell had two for 12 yards and Hilliard had one for seven yards. Konrad Reuland had one reception for four yards and Greene had two for three yards.

McKnight had four kickoff returns for an average of 18.8 yards with 33 being his long. Nick Bellore had one for eight yards. Robert Malone had four punts for an average of 43 yards with 61 being the long. Bart Scott led the defense with five tackles and an assist.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was 12-26 for 225 yards and a touchdown. C.J. Spiller led the Bills rushing attack with 59 yards on 24 carries. Tashard Choice had five rushes for 30 yards and a touchdown and Brad Smith had two for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Stevie Johnson led the receivers with six catches for 111 yards, Spiller had two for 72 yards and a touchdown and Smith had two for 26 yards. Ruvell Martin had one reception for 11 yards and T.J. Graham had one for five yards.

Rian Lindell was 0-2 on field goals and made four extra points. Smith had three kickoff returns for an average of 26.7 yards and Justin Rogers had one for 27 yards. Shawn Powell had five punts for an average of 39.2 yards with 51 being the long.

Bryan Scott had an interception and Nick Barnett led the defense with six tackles and five assists. Spencer Johnson had a sack.

The Jets finished their season at 6-10 and the Bills had the same record. The Jets are going to make some changes and now we await the fates of the coaches and the General manager. It looks like the head coach will stay with everyone else going. It should be an interesting offseason as they try to trade Sanchez and they get rid of Tebow. I expect Tebow to land in Jacksonville where he will be the starter and restart his career and probably end up doing well.

New York Jets win a lousy game over the Arizona Cardinals

The New York Jets defeated the Arizona Cardinals by the score of 7-6 on Sunday evening. The game took place at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It was a terrible offensive game for both sides. Mark Sanchez was so bad that he was finally benched, not for Tim Tebow though. Tebow was inactive for the game with a couple of fractured ribs. Greg McElroy got his first action and led the Jets to victory.
Sanchez was 10-21 for 97 yards no touchdowns and he threw three interceptions. McElroy was 5-7 for 29 yards and a touchdown. Shonn Greene led the rushing attack with 24 carries for 104 yards, Bilal Powell had 12 rushes for 58 yards and Joe McKnight had two rushes for eight yards. Stephen Hill led the receivers with five receptions for 40 yards. Jeremy Kerley had three receptions for 37 yards, Jeff Cumberland had two receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown and Dustin Keller had two receptions for 17 yards. Chaz Schilens had two receptions for five yards. Nick Folk was 0-2 in field goal attempts and made the one extra point.

Ryan Lindley was 10-31 for the Cardinals for 72 yards and an interception. Rashad Johnson had one rush for 40 yards, Beanie Wells had 15 rushes for 22 yards and William Powell had four rushes for 18 yards. Larry Fitzgerald had one catch for 23 yards, Michael Floyd had two catches for 22 yards and Rob Housler had four receptions for 15 yards. Early Doucet had two receptions for 13 yards.

Laron Landry had an interception for the Jets and Kerry Rhodes had two for the Cardinals and Patrick Peterson had the other for the Cardinals. Kyle Wilson led the Jets defense with five tackles and an assist. David Harris had ½ a sack, Muhammad Wilkerson had ½ a sack and Bart Scott had a sack. William Gay had a sack for the Cardinals, Adrian Wilson, Sam Acho, Darnell Dockett and David Carter each had ½ a sack.

The Jets record improved to 5-7 and they kept their fading playoff hopes alive. The Cardinals record dropped to 4-8 as they will be playing out the string. The Jets next game will be Sunday afternoon at the Jacksonville Jaguars. The question now for the Jets will be who is their quarterback in that game. I would suspect Greg McElroy but could it be Tim Tebow and will any of the three quarterbacks not dress for the game?? We will have to see in the next couple of days if the Jets announce it.

The New York Jets suffer an embarrassing loss on Thanksgiving night to the New England Patriots

The New York Jets were defeated by the New England Patriots by the score of 49-19. It was a embarrassing performance. Mark Sanchez was terrible but Tim Tebow had a couple of cracked ribs and he wasn’t able to play although he was the only other quarterback on the roster for the game. The Jets didn’t have a good game in any facet of the team.
Mark Sanchez was 26-36 for 301 yards and one touchdown and he threw an interception. He also fumbled the ball and the Patriots ran it back for a touchdown. Shonn Greene led the Jets rushing with 71 yards on 14 attempts, Bilal Powell had 40 yards on 12 attempts and a touchdown and Joe McKnight rushed for six yards on one carry. The New York Jets end their losing streak in St. Louis

The New York Jets defeated the St. Louis Rams by the score of 27-13 on Sunday afternoon. The game took place in St. Louis. The Jets are now 4-6 on the season and have a game on Thanksgiving against their rivals the New England Patriots. I wouldn’t say the offense was great but Mark Sanchez did a good job managing it, no turnovers from their offense. The Jets defense was really good and they ended their three game losing streak.

Sanchez was 15-20 for 178 yards with one touchdown and Tim Tebow was 1-1. Shonn Greene had 18 rushing attempts for 64 yards, Bilal Powell had 11 rushes for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Joe McKnight rushed four times for 14 yards. Chaz Schilens led the receivers with four catches for 48 yards with one touchdown. Jeremy Kerley had three catches for 43 yards, Powell had two catches for 18 yards and McKnight had a catch for 18 yards. Konrad Reuland had one catch for 18 yards.

Nick Folk was 2-4 in field goals with his long coming from 51 yards. He had three extra points made. Laron Landry led their defense with eight tackles. Muhammed Wilerson had a sack and Eric Smith had an interception.

Sam Bradford was 23-44 for 170 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. Steven Jackson led the Rams rushing attack with 81 yards on 13 carries, Daryl Richardson had six carries for 26 yards and Bradford had one attempt for seven yards.

The Jets will play the Patriots on Thanksgiving in their next game before having 11 days off. The Jets will need a big win if they want to get some momentum and have a chance at the playoffs. The Jets are at 4-6 right now and have to make their move.

The New York Jets lose big in Pittsburgh to the Steelers

The New York Jets were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers by the score of 27-10. The game took place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The New York Jets record fell to 1-1 on the season and they will come home to take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.
The Jets gave up 331 total yards and they gained 219 total yards. Mark Sanchez the Jets quarterback was 10-27 for 138 yards and one touchdown. Bilal Powell led the receivers with nine catches for 33 yards. Shonn Greene had 11 rushes for 23 yards and Tim Tebow had one rush for 22 yards. Joe McKnight even had one rush for 12 yards.

The New York Jets rout the Buffalo Bills in their season opener

The New York Jets came out flying in their season opener. They were 0-4 in the preseason and had a lot of trouble scoring. Their first team couldn’t score a touchdown, well not it is the regular season and what a difference it makes. The Jets defeated the Bills by the score of 48-28. The game took place at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Mark Sanchez looked like a man on a mission as he played a fantastic game. Tim Tebow was pretty quiet, he had five plays for 11 yards and when he was out there they ran eight wildcats for 22 yards and he recovered an onsides kick. Sanchez threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns. There was no quarterback controversy this week.

Shonn Greene ran the ball 27 yards for 94 yards. He had one touchdown and it was an average of 3.5 yards per carry. Stephen Hill led the team in receiving yards with 89 on five catches. That is a 17.8 yard average and he had two touchdowns.

The defense was led by LaRon Landry who had six tackles and one assist and Darrelle Revis had an interception. Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Kerley each had four receptions. Holmes had 68 yards and Kerley had 45 yards.

The Jets are 1-0 and will play at Pittsburgh on Sunday September 16th, 2012. We will see how the wildcat is used going forward and if it truly has an impact or if it is just meant as a distraction to the other team. If the Jets keep winning and playing like they did against the Bills it won’t matter though, they sure looked good in week one but it is only one game.

The New York Giants defeat the New York Jets in the preaseason

The New York Giants defeated the New York Jets by the score of 26-3 on Saturday night in preseason football. The game took place at both teams home stadium which is Metlife stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It really didn’t matter if Tim Tebow or Mark Sanchez was starting the Giants defense was very good. Tebow may have even been a little better but he was going up against the backup defense so it’s hard to judge.  Lawrence Tynes the Giants kicker had four field goals, Eli Manning had a pretty good game but the Giants starting offense didn’t do much against the Jets starting defense. The Giants backup offensive players did most of the damage. David Carr led the Giants going 5-9 with 83 yards. The leading rusher for the Giants was David Wilson the rookie who had eight carries for 26 yards and Victor Cruz led the receivers with five catches for 51 yards.
Tebow led the Jets offense going 5-14 with 69 yards. Shonn Greene led the running backs with 11 carries for 36 yards and White led the recievers with three catches for 28 yards.
The Giants defense had seven sacks. Each team had one interception and the Jets had one sack. The Giants are now 1-1 in the preseason and the Jets are 0-2. The preseason doesn’t mean anything though and you can’t take much out of it. The Jets will take on the Carolina Panthers next Sunday at home and the Giants will take on the Chicago Bears on Friday at home.

The Jets season ends in dissappointment as they lose in Miami to the Dolphins

The New York Jets lost to the Miami Dolphins by the score of 19-17. The Jets came into the game knowing they needed to win and having three other teams lose in order for them to get into the playoffs. The Jets didn’t need to worry about anyone else because they didn’t do their part. The Jets even with a win wouldn’t have gotten in but they would of liked to win the game to finish on a high note and give themselves a chance. Mark Sanchez the quarterback had a tough day and for the first time the head coach Rex Ryan may be coming under fire.
Sanchez was 21-32 for 207 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Jeremy Kerley was 1-1 for 41 yards. LaDainian Tomlinson was the leading rusher with 11 for 56 yards, Shonn Greene rushed 14 times for 55 yards and Kerley rushed once for 16 yards. Kerley was the leading receiver with four catches for 71 yards, Plaxico Burress caught four catches for 57 yards, Dustin Keller caught seven passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Matthew Mulligan caught one pass for 41 yards and Tomlinson caught four passes for 23 yards. Nick Folk was 1-1 on field goals with a 31 yarder and he made two extra points.

Donald Strickland had the only sack for the Jets. Brodney Pool had an interception and Bart Scott led the team with five tackles.

Matt Morre was 22-32 with 135 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Steve Slaton rushed the ball 11 times for 55 yards, Daniel Thomas rushed it 12 times for 28 yards. The leading receiver for the Dolphins was Brandon Marshall who had five catches for 50 yards. Davone Bess had six catches for 45 yards, Brian Hartline had two catches for 16 yards and Daniel Thomas had two catches for 12 yards. Anthony Fasano had four catches for 11 yards, Charles Clay had one for one and a touchdown. Dan Carpenter was 4-4 on field goals with his long being 31 yards and he made two extra points.

The Dolphins defense had three interceptions and two sacks. The interceptions were by Marvin Mitchell and two by Randy Starks. The sacks were by Jared Odrick and Starks.

The Jets season ended at 8-8 and they missed the playoffs. Even coming into this game it was a longshot for the Jets to make the playoffs but it was another disappointing game for the Jets as they end the season on a losing note. There will be some changes and both the quarterback and head coach are now coming under fire. They won’t do anything with either guy this year but the offensive coordinator will most likely be gone as he seems to be the scapegoat. It will be a long offseason for the Jets who talk a lot and haven’t been able to get it done, especially this season.

The New York Giants win the Battle Of New York

The New York Giants defeated the New York Jets by the score of 29-14 on Saturday afternoon. It was a close game for most of the day until the Giants pulled away at the end of the fourth quarter. It wasn’t the prettiest of games, especially in the fourth quarter but the Giants made fewer mistakes and executed when they needed to. They kept their season alive and will now play for the NFC East Title on Sunday night Football on January 1, 2012.
Eli Manning was 9-27 for 225 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 54 yards on 15 carries and he had two touchdowns. Brandon Jacobs had seven carries for 42 yards and D.J. Ware had three carries for 20 yards. Victor Cruz was the leading receiver with three catches for 164 yards and a touchdown. He did have one catch for 99 yards. Hakeem Nicks had one catch for 20 yards, Jacobs had one for 13 and Devin Thomas had one catch for 11 yards. Bradshaw had one catch for eight yards. Lawrence Tynes was 2-2 on field goals with his long being 36 yards and he made three extra points.

Mark Sanchez threw more passes then he has ever thrown for the Jets. He was 30-59 for 258 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Shonn Greene rushed for 58 yards on 14 carries, LaDainian Tomlinson had 29 yards on five carries and Sanchez had 13 yards on four carries and a touchdown.

Dustin Keller was the leading receiver with eight catches for 77 yards. Santonio Holmes had four catches for 50 yards, Tomlinson had six catches for 36 yards and Jeremy Kerley had five catches for 36 yards. Plaxico Burress had three catches for 34 yards. Nick Folk missed the only field goal he attempted and made two extra points.

Kenny Phillips and Corey Webster each had an interception for the Giants. Webster and Antrelle Rolle led the team with seven tackles each. Jason Pierre-Paul had two sacks. Justin Tuck, Dave Tollefson and Chris Canty each had a sack. The Jets defense had one interception by David Harris and Muhammad Wilkerson led the team with three tackles and two assists with a sack.

The Jets will play Miami in Miami on Sunday needing a win and three other teams to lose to make the playoffs. The Giants will play for the division crown on Sunday night Football at home against the Dallas Cowboys. If they win the game they will be in the playoffs and have a home game in the first round and if they lose they will miss out on the playoffs once again and have another second half collapse that could end the Tom Coughlin era with the Giants.

The Jets go down to Philly and get manhandles by the Eagles

The New York Jets lost to the Philadelphia Eagles by the score of 45-19. This was a game that got really ugly and didn’t really change much from that. The Jets tried to stage a comeback with the help of some Philly turnovers but it wasn’t enough to overcome a huge first half deficit. The Eagles jumped out to a 28-0 lead. The Jets cut it to 28-13 at the half but that was as close as they would come.
Mark Sanchez of the Jets was 15-26 for 150 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Mark Brunell did get into the game late and was 1-3 for 27 yards. Shonn Greene was the leading rusher with 18 carries for 73 yards. LaDainian Tomlinson rushed three times for nine yards, John Conner once for seven yards and Sanchez two times for three yards. Joe McKnight rushed three times for two yards. Dustin Keller caught the ball three times for 73 yards, Santonio Holmes caught the ball four times for 40 yards and a touchdown and McKnight caught one pass for 27 yards. Plaxico Burress caught one ball for nine yards and one touchdown. Jeremy Kerley had two catches for 16 yards and Tomlinson caught four balls for 12 yards. Nick Folk was 2-2 on field goals and his long was 39 yards, he made an extra point.

Michael Vick was 15-22 for 274 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Eagles. LeSean McCoy rushed the ball 18 times for 102 yards and three touchdowns. McCoy broke the single season record for touchdowns by an Eagle. Vick rushed five times for 32 yards and a touchdown, Ronnie Brown rushed six times for 18 yards and Dion Lewis rushed the ball two times for 10 yards. Mike Kafka rushed the ball twice and got no yards. Brent Celek caught five passes for 156 yards and a touchdown, Jeremy Maclin caught three balls for 57 yards and DeSean Jackson caught two balls for 28 yards. Clay Harbor had two catches for 20 yards, Riley Cooper had one for 18 yards. Alex Henery made the only field goal he attempted from 28 yards and had six extra points.

David Harris had six tackles, an assist and a interception for the poor Jets defense. Muhammad Wilkerson had six tackles and a sack, Calvin Pace had six tackles and Marcus Dixon had a sack. The Jets defense was carved up. The Jets still right now are in the playoffs and control their own destiny. If they win out they will be in the postseason. The Jets will host the Giants on Saturday December 24th which is Christmas Eve. It should be an intense and entertaining game as both teams are fighting for their playoff lives and there is no love lost between either of the teams.

Jets defeat the Chiefs without a problem

The New York Jets defeated the Kansas City Chiefs by the score of 37-10. It was a blow out right from the start as the Jets marched right down the field and scored. The Chiefs had a total of four first half yards. The Chiefs basically didn’t even get off the bus for this game. Mark Sanchez had a very business like performance and the Jets rushing attack was very good. The defense was great although the Chiefs offense isn’t very good at all.
Sanchez was 13-21 for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Shonn Green led the rushing attack with 129 yards on 24 carries and he had a touchdown. Sanchez had four rushing yards on two carries and he had two touchdown runs and LaDainian Tomlinson had 14 yards on nine carries. Tomlinson had two catches for 50 yards and a touchdown, Greene had 58 yards on three catches and Dustin Keller had four catches for 34 yards. Jim Leonhard had an interception, David Harris led the defense with four tackles and two assists with a sack. Muhammad Wilkerson had three tackles and two assists. Calvin Pace and Marcus Dixon had ½ a sack each and Eric Smith, Bart Scott and Sione Pouha each had a sack.

Tyler Palko for the Chiefs was 16-32 for 195 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Jackie Battle had 10 rushes for 33 yards, Thomas Jones had five carries for 12 yards and Palko had one rush for 12 yards. Jerheme Urban had one rush for seven yards and Dexter McCluster had four rushes for a yard. Dwayne Bowe had six catches for 69 yards, Steve Breaston had four catches for 44 yards and Urban had two catches for 28 yards and a touchdown. The Jets now are in one of the wild card spots and can control their own destiny. The Jets will play at the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon at 4:15PM. They will then be at home against the Giants and finish off their season against the Miami Dolphins in Miami. If the Jets win all their games they will make the postseason

The Jets pull away late to defeat the Redskins

-The New York Jets defeated the Washington Redskins by the score of 34-19. The Jets were trailing 13-10 at the half and after three quarters it was tied at 13. Batting Cages

There is some downtime right now as the World Series doesn't start until Wednesday.  I can talk about the Jets and Giants sure, but I will start getting into that more after the World Series ends.  I am a baseball fan big time and also mostly a baseball blogger/journalist so I have to keep my focus on that until sadly the season ends in about a week or so.

There will be the winter coming and for those who are baseball coaches or players, why not take a look at the link below for your batting cage needs.  Of course you also may just love baseball and be interested in it for that reason.  Jug sports does a great job and you should look into it.  I wouldn't recommend anything that I don't think is a good product myself.  I hope everyone has a great winter and comes back strong and ready to go in the spring for another great baseball season in 2012.  Enjoy the World Series everyone and remember to visit the link and Jugsports for your batting cage needs, thank  you for the time.

The Super Bowl Is Set

The AFC Championship game had the momentum carrying New York Jets taking on the Indianapolis Colts. The game was in Indianapolis where in week 16 the Jets ruined the Colts perfect season. That game back then was controversial as the Jets were 7-7 and the Colts were 14-0, the Colts pulled their starters in the second half after leading and of course ended up losing the game which kept the Jets alive for the playoffs. The Jets won the next week to get themselves in the playoffs and then won 2 playoff games on the road to get to this AFC Championship game. The Jets and their fans wanted validation bad but the Colts were ready to prove that they let them in the playoffs and they were going to knock them out. The final score was Colts 30 Jets 17. The game started off very well with the Jets, they were playing good and getting to Peyton Manning a little. The Jets had a 17-6 lead with just over 2 minutes left in the first half. Peyton Manning got the ball and as he does so often in the 2 minute drill, he took his team down the field for a touchdown to get them within 17-13 at the half. The Colts got the ball in the second half after stopping the Jets and went down and scored again to take the lead that they would never relinquish. It was like a switch flipped on and Peyton Manning just took the Jets defense apart. He threw for near 400 yards with 3 touchdown passes. The Jets running game never got it going like they had in the previous playoff games and Shonn Greene left the game with an injury which hurt them badly. Mark Sanchez played a pretty good game but in the end the Colts were just too good for the Jets and they are headed back to the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning trying to win his second ring. The Mannings have been in 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls and this week Archie Manning will be front and center with his son in the Big Game against his Old Team. The NFC Championship was a great game, it was back and forth the whole game. The Minnesota Vikings really controlled the game but had 5 turnovers which kept the Saints in the game. The Saints did cause most of those turnovers as you could really see them going for the strips and playing aggressive defense. Brett Favre was really getting hammered and even left the game at one point for an injury. He is a tough guy though and came back in after getting taped up. The game ended up being history repeating itself. The Vikings were in field goal range with not much time left when Brett Favre threw a pick and the game went into overtime. The Saints won the coin toss and ended up going down the field and kicking the game winning field goal. This is a rule that is going to have to be looked at and we can debate that another time. The last time Brett Favre was in the title game was in 2007 with the Packers against the Giants. He threw a pick in OT that ended up leading to the game winning field goal by the Giants. I don't think you ever know with Brett Favre but the way he got beat up last night this may be the end for him. I can't see him saying yeah let me try this all again next season. It should be a great Super Bowl and we will have plenty of time to go over everything with the Big Game. Congratulations to the Saints and Colts, it is really good to see New Orleans be able to celebrate after everything that city has gone through and it will be a big boost for them.

NFL Championship Round

The AFC and NFC Championship games will be played tomorrow. The first game will be the New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts for the AFC title. The Colts were undefeated in week 16 when the Jets came to town needing to win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Jets did pull out a controversial victory and have reeled off 3 more in a row after that to get to this point. The reason the game was controversial is because the Colts were 14-0 and leading at the half when head coach Jim Caldwell decided to pull his starters and the Jets went on to win the game keeping them in the playoff hunt and eventually they did make it and won 2 playoff games on the road to get here. The Colts fans really wanted the undefeated season and this is something that win or lose will be discussed all offseason. If the Colts do go on and win a Super Bowl it won't be as big of a deal but everyone will still wonder if they would have gone undefeated and if they lose well then it really will be criticized. I really like what the Jets have done in the playoffs and they won't change their style now. They will run the ball and play good defense but in my mind the Colts are the best team in football and they are home. I don't see the Jets winning this game although it should be close. I am picking the Colts to win by the score of 24-17. The NFC Championship will be at 630 tomorrow night and have the Minnesota Vikings taking on the New Orleans Saints. The Saints who have been a long suffering franchise will host their first ever title game. They have never made it to the Super Bowl. I think with all that has gone on in that city they really need this and are riding a wave of momentum and passion. The Vikings have played great football this season but not on the road and I think this will be the end for them. I see the Saints winning this game by the score of 35-21. I hope everyone enjoys the championship games and tomorrow night we will find out who will be facing off in the Super Bowl.

NFL Playoffs Recap

The New Orleans Saints came into their playoff game with the Arizona Cardinals limping. They had lost 3 straight to end the season after opening with 13 straight victories. The Arizona Cardinals won a thrilling game against Green Bay last week and were riding some momentum. The Saints took care of all that yesterday and looked like the team they were for most of the season. They beat the Cardinals by the score of 45-14. The Saints took the time at the end of the season and the bye to rest some guys and get healthy. Jeremy Shockey was back and played a good game. He was his wild, emotional self and that seemed to lift the Saints early. Reggie Bush had his best game as a pro with over 200 all purpose yards. He looked like the man that played at USC 4 yrs ago and won the heisman. The Saints will take on the Vikings at home in their first every NFC Championship game. The Saints will be looking to make their first trip to the Super Bowl. The Vikings led by ageless wonder Brett Favre put a spanking on the Dallas Cowboys today and beat them 34-3. Dallas was riding momentum after finishing the season strong and then winning their first playoff game in 15 years last week. Minnesota weathered a early storm from Dallas and then never looked back. They finished the season 9-0 at home. They will take on the Saints in New Orleans next week, it should be a high scoring game. The Indianapolis Colts who were heavily criticized for not going for the record undefeated season came out and took care of business over the Baltimore Ravens yesterday. They won the game 20-3. They were never really in danger in this game and the Colts didn't look great but they didn't have to be in this one. They will host the AFC title game for the right to go to the Super Bowl. The New York Jets who have been the big underdogs keep living up to their talking. They came out to San Diego and weathered a dominating first half by the Chargers. The Chargers were in control but only led 7-0 at the half. The New York Jets turned it on in the second half and won the game by the score of 17-14. Nick Kading the placekicker will be kicking himself for missing 3 field goals. The Jets defense is starting to really earn its stripes and will now head to Indianapolis for what will be their toughest test. The thing is if they could go into San Diego and win they could probably beat anyone. San Diego definitely helped the Jets but all that matters is they got the victory, it doesn't matter how. The Jets and their fans should enjoy this one and then start looking ahead to Indy. The Jets beat the Colts in Indy in week 15 after the Colts were heavily criticized for pulling their starters after the first half. The Colts will surely be fired up for this one as they want to show the Jets they can beat them. It should be a fun weekend next weekend with the title games.

Recap of Wildcard Weekend

Wildcard weekend lived up to it's name, it was wild. The Jets/Bengals game which started it all off and last nights Green Bay/Arizona game were the good ones. The Dallas Philly and NE/Balt games were pretty much blowouts. I will start with the Jets/Bengals game since the New York Jets are the home team for me. The New York Jets played a pretty dominant game, good defense and a solid running game. They also didn't turn the ball over and Mark Sanchez was good, they didn't make him throw it all that often which is a good thing. He really wasn't in any third and longs which is another way from limiting the mistakes that he could possibly make. The Bengals were awful especially there quarterback Carson Palmer who was overthrowing guys left and right. Chad Ochocinco once again was shut down and maybe he needs to learn how to shut his mouth and just play the game. I give the Jets credit for getting down 7-0 but not panicking and once they tied the game up they took control. It looked early on like the Jets could be in trouble but they weathered the storm and then were fine after that. They will now move on to play San Diego in San Diego on Sunday afternoon. The other AFC game between New England and Baltimore was a shocker. The Patriots were down 21-0 before you even blinked and they just couldn't catch up. I wonder if Tom Brady was really hurt as he played a terrible game, he wasn't helped by the offensive line which just let him get beat up back there. The Patriots are still a good team but are no longer the dominant team and have some work to do to get back there. Baltimore will travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts on Saturday. The NFC started off with the Dallas Cowboys once again dominating the Philadelphia Eagles. I guess you could say that Tony Romo and Wade Philips have the monkey off of their back now. They look like they are going to be a tough out the rest of the way. The offense is really rolling along with Romo looking sharp and their defense has been playing great. I really think Brett Favre and the Vikings are going to be in for a really tough battle. The last game of wildcard weekend turned out to be a really fun and entertaining shootout. The Arizona Cardinals got up big on the Green Bay Packers but to their credit they wouldn't quit and battled all the way back. Arizona had a chance to win it on a chip shot field goal in the closing seconds but missed it and the game went into OT. This was a game where it was back and forth and the teams kept matching each other score for score. There was basically no defense in this game and then when it is all said and done the game ends in OT with a fumble return for a TD by Arizona which will go on and play the Saints in New Orleans.
