MLB Season Preview and Predictions

The Baseball season begins on Thursday afternoon.  It is the first time in years that all the teams will begin on the same day which I think is great.  I am going to do a prediction segment here which is always fun because how often are we right??  Especially since baseball is such a long season and has so many twists and turns but that is what makes it so great.  I will start with the local teams first, the New York Yankees and New York Mets.

New York Yankees: Prediction is first place in the AL East.  They were the darlings of the world last year with the Baby Bombers well now they are all grown up and added reigning NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton.  They have the same five starters that ended last year one game away from the World Series and they still have that very good and very deep bullpen.  It is hard not seeing them winning the division and making another run in the postseason.  They are back to being the Evil Empire.

New York Mets:  I am picking them 2nd in the NL East and a wild card team.  I think the Nationals are too good for the Mets to overtake but they should make it back to the postseason.  Their season mainly hinges on the health of their starting rotation.  I think Jacob DeGrom and Noah Syndergaard will be healthy though and then if you get anything out of Matt Harvey, Jason Vargas, Zach Wheeler, Seth Lugo, Steven Matz then they really have something.  I think they improved the bullpen and like what they did by signing Todd Frazier and resigning Jay Bruce.  They have a pretty good team that if healthy can be a playoff team.

AL Central-Cleveland Indians

AL West-Houston Astros

AL 1st wild card-Boston Red Sox

AL 2nd wild card-Anaheim Angels

NL Central-Chicago Cubs

NL West-Los Angeles Dodgers

NL 1st Wild Card-St Louis Cardinals

NL 2nd wild card-New York Mets
