New York Yankees slug their way to victory in the Windy City

 The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night at Guaranteed Rate Field in

Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 15-7.  Luis Gil started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  

Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with three hits and six RBI.  


Gil pitched four innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Miguel 

Castro pitched a perfect inning, Lucas Luetge pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a 

strikeout and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk.  Loaisiga 

picked up his first win of the season.  Chad Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with 

two strikeouts.  


Dylan Cease started for the White Sox and pitched four innings giving up six hits and six runs with

two walks and 11 strikeouts.  Jose Ruiz pitched an inning giving up a hit, Ryan Burr pitched two innings 

giving up two hits and a run and Joe Kelly pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and five runs with four 

walks and a strikeout.  Kelly took his first loss of the season and Tanner Banks pitched 1 1/3 innings 

giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout.  


DJ LeMahieu had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had two hits, four RBI and drew a

walk and Anthony Rizzo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Stanton had three hits and six RBI and drew

a walk, Josh Donaldson had two hits and three RBI and Joey Gallo had a hit and drew a walk.  Marwin

Gonzalez drew a walk, Kyle Higashioka had two hits and Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk.  

LeMahieu hit two doubles, Rizzo hit a triple and Stanton hit two homeruns.  Judge and Donaldson each 

also hit a homer.  The Yankees were 6-12 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Rizzo

and Luetge each committed an error.  Gil had a pickoff.  


Tim Anderson drew a walk, Yoan Moncada had a hit and three RBI and Luis Robert had a hit.  Yasmani

Grandal drew a walk, Gavin Sheets had a hit and drew a walk and AJ Pollock had two hits, an RBI and 

drew a walk.  Adam Engel had a hit, Leury Garcia had two hits and two RBI.  Pollock and Sheets each hit

a double and Moncada hit a homerun.  The White Sox were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and

left six men on base.  Garcia was picked off and Grandal had a passed ball.  


In the first Stanton hit a two-run homer giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second 

Pollock hit an RBI double, Garcia hit a two-run single and it was 3-2 White Sox.  In the third Rizzo

hit an RBI triple tying the game at three.  Stanton hit another two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 

5-3 lead.  In the fourth LeMahieu hit an RBI double pushing the lead to 6-3.  In the bottom of the fourth

a wild pitch cut the lead to 6-4.  In the seventh Judge hit a solo homer extending the lead to 7-4.  In the 

bottom of the seventh Moncada hit a three-run homer tying the game at seven.  In the eighth Judge hit 

a two-run single giving the Yankees a 9-7 lead.  Stanton hit a two-run single and Donaldson hit a 

three-run homerun.  In the ninth Judge hit a sac fly making it 15-7 and that was the final score.


The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.  

New York Yankees sweep the Toronto Blue Jays

 The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at 

Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Jameson Taillon started for the 

Yankees and he pitched well.  Gleyber Torres led the offense with two hits and five RBI.  

Taillon pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Michael 

King pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Clay Holmes pitched 1 2/3 innings with 

a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.


Jose Berrios started for the Blue Jays and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs.  He

walked one and struck out four and took his second loss of the season.  Trevor Richards pitched 2/3 of an

inning giving up a hit, Trent Thornton pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one and 

Ryan Borucki pitched to one batter and struck him out.  


Aaron Judge had a hit, Anthony Rizzo had a hit and drew a walk and DJ LeMahieu had two hits.  Torres 

had two hits and five RBI, Joey Gallo had a hit and Marwin Gonzalez had a hit.  LeMahieu hit a double 

and Torres hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on

base.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa committed two errors.  


George Springer had an RBI and drew a walk, Bo Bichette had three hits and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a

hit.  Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and an RBI, Alejandro Kirk had two hits and Matt Chapman had an

RBI.  Santiago Espinal had a hit, Raimel Tapia had a hit and Vinny Capra drew a walk.  Kirk, Bichette,

and Espinal each hit a double and the Blue Jays were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine 

men on base.  Hernandez had a stolen base.  


In the first Hernandez grounded into a force out giving the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth 

Torres hit a three-run homer giving the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  In the sixth Chapman hit a sac fly cutting the

lead to 3-2.  In the bottom of the sixth Torres hit a two-run single pushing the lead to 5-2 and that would 

be the final score.  The Yankees swept the brief two-game series and will now head to Chicago to take on

the White Sox for a four-game series beginning Thursday night.

New York Yankees walk-off the Toronto Blue Jays

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-5.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and battled.  The offense was led by Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton who each had two hits and three RBI. 

Severino pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Miguel Castro pitched 1 1/3 innings with four strikeouts, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.  Wandy Peralta won his first game of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Yusei Kikuchi started for the Blue Jays and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Yimi Garcia gave up a hit and a run, David Phelps pitched 2/3 of an inning and Adam Cimber pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Tim Mayza pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Trevor Richards pitched 1/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Jordan Romano pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Romano blew his second save of the season and lost his second game of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Judge had two hits and three RBI and Anthony Rizzo drew a walk.  Stanton had two hits and three RBI, Josh Donaldson drew a walk and Aaron Hicks drew two walks.  Joey Gallo drew a walk, Jose Trevino drew a walk and LeMahieu hit a double.  Stanton and Judge each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

George Springer had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Bo Bichette had ah it and drew a walk and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a hit and an RBI, Alejandro Kirk had a hit and an RBI and Matt Chapman drew a walk.  Santiago Espinal had a hit and two RBI, Espinal hit a double and Gurriel Jr. hit a double and Springer hit a homerun.  The Jays were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Gurriel Jr. had a stolen base. 

In the first Springer hit a solo homerun giving the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the second Espinal hit a two-run double pushing their lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Stanton hit a three-run homerun to tie the game at three.  In the eighth Gurriel Jr. hit an RBI double giving the Jays a 4-3 lead.  Kirk hit a sac fly and it was 5-3 Jays.  In the bottom of the ninth Judge hit a three-run walk-off homerun giving the Yankees a 6-5 victory.  The two teams will play game two of two on Wednesday afternoon. 

New York Mets get beat by the Washington Nationals as Tyler Megill struggles

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 8-3.  Tyler Megill started for the Mets and was horrible.  The bullpen pitched well and Brandon Nimmo led the offense with three hits. 

Megill pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and eight runs with a walk and a strikeout and lost his second game of the season.  Trevor Williams pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Stephen Nogosek pitched three innings giving up two walks and he struck out three. 

Aaron Sanchez started for the Nationals and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with a strikeout and won his second game of the season.  Austin Voth pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one, Victor Arano pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and Paolo Espino pitched an inning giving up two hits. 

Nimmo had three hits, Starling Marte had a hit and Pete Alonso had two hits and two RBI.  Eduardo Escobar had a hit, Jeff McNeil had a hit and Luis Guillorme had two hits.  Nimmo hit a double, Alonso hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Cesar Hernandez had three hits and drew a walk, Juan Soto had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Josh Bell had a hit.  Nelson Cruz had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk, Yadiel Hernandez had a hit and drew a walk and Keibert Ruiz had two hits and an RBI.  Maikel Franco had an RBI, Dee Strange-Gordon had a hit and an RBI and Hernandez hit a double.  Soto and Cruz each hit a homerun and the Nationals were 3-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ruiz had a stolen base and Franco committed an error. 

In the first Marte hit an RBI single and Alonso hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 3-0 lead.  IN the bottom of the first Soto hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 3-2.  Ruiz hit an RBI single to tie the game at three and Franco hti a sac fly giving the Nationals a 4-3 lead.  Strange-Gordon hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the second Cruz hit a three-run homerun extending the lead to 8-3 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series on Thursday afternoon.   

New York Mets double up the Washington Nationals

 

The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 4-2.  Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Carrasco pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  Carrasco won his third game of the season.  Drew Smith pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Joely Rodriguez pitched to one batter and got him out and Edwin Diaz saved his seventh game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Patrick Corbin pitched five innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked four and struck out five.  Carl Edwards Jr. lost his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Steve Cishek pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Erasmo Ramirez pitched two innings giving up two hits and a unearned run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk, Lindor had two hits and Pete Alonso had a hit and drew three walks.  J.D. Davis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Eduardo Escobar drew a walk and McNeil had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  James McCann had a hit and an RBI, McNeil hit a double and the Mets were 2-14 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Lindor had a stolen base and Nimmo had an outfield assist. 

Juan Soto had a hit, Josh Bell had two hits and Nelson Cruz had two hits.  Maikel Franco had a hit and an RBI, Dee Strange-Gordon had a hit and Riley Adams had a hit and an RBI.  Victor Robles drew a walk, Franco hit a double and Adams hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Strange-Gordon was caught stealing. 

In the bottom of the fourth Franco hit an RBI double giving the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Adams hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 2-0.  In the top of the sixth McNeil hit a two-run double to tie the game at two.  McCann hit a sac fly and the Mets grabbed a 3-2 lead.  In the ninth Davis hit a sac fly pushing their lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of there on Wednesday.

New York Yankees squeak out a win with some dominant pitching

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 1-0.  Nestor Cortes started for the Yankees and he pitched great and Clay Holmes and Aroldis Chapman got the last five outs.  The offense only managed five hits in this one and no one had more then a hit. 

Cortes took a no-hitter into the eighth inning.  He pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he walked four with 11 strikeouts.  Holmes won his fourth game of the season pitching to two batters and retiring them both and Chapman picked up his seventh save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Jon Gray started for the Rangers and left with an injury.  He pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up two hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Brock Burke pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with five strikeouts and Brett Martin pitched an inning with two hits and a run and he lost his third game of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and an RBI.  Josh Donaldson had a hit, Joey Gallo had a hit and drew a walk and Jose Trevino had a hit.  Rizzo hit a double and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Corey Seager drew a walk, Jonah Heim had a hit and drew a walk and Nick Solak drew a walk.  Eli White had a hit and drew a walk and the Rangers were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Miller had a stolen base and Solak had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the eighth Rizzo hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will now start a two-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  They will remain at Yankee Stadium. 

New York Yankees drop game two of doubleheader to the Texas Rangers

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers in Game two of a doubleheader on Sunday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The bullpen wasn’t its usual dominant self and the offense only managed three hits. 

Montgomery pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  Michael King picked up his first loss of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Wandy Peralta pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Glenn Otto started for the Rangers and he pitched five innings giving up two hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Garrett Richards pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Matt Moore pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two walks and he struck out one and Dennis Santana pitched to one batter and retired him.  Brett Martin pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Joe Barlow pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and he picked up his fourth save of the season. 

Aaron Hicks drew three walks, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and two RBI and Josh Donaldson had a hit.  Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Isiah Kiner-Falefa drew two walks and Jose Trevino had a hit.  Stanton hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hicks had two stolen bases and Estevan Florial had a stolen base.  Montgomery had a pickoff. 

Adolis Garcia had two hits, Jonah Heim had a hit and Kole Calhoun had a hit and drew a walk.  Charlie Culberson had a hit, Brad Miller had a hit and two RBI and Eli White had a hit and an RBI.  Heim hit a double and White and Miller each hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Culberson was caught stealing. 

In the bottom of the third Stanton hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth White hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the seventh a wild pitch tied the game at two and Miller hit a two-run homerun to give the Rangers a 4-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams split the doubleheader and will now play the third and final game of the series on Monday afternoon.   

New York Yankees walk-off the Texas Rangers in Game One of a doubleheader

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Saturday afternoon in Game one of a doubleheader.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen was great.  Gleyber Torres led the offense with a couple of hits including a walk-off homerun. 

Cole pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and Clay Holmes won his third game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Dane Dunning started for the Rangers and he pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts.  Matt Bush pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dennis Santana pitched to one batter and got him out and John King pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.

Marcus Semien had two hits, Adolis Garcia had a hit and Mitch Garver had two hits.  Kole Calhoun had a hit and an RBI, Garver hit two doubles and Calhoun hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ibanez committed two errors and Miller committed an error. 

In the sixth Stanton hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Calhoun hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the ninth Torres hit a solo homerun to walk-off the game and give the Yankees the 2-1 victory.
