Yankees win on Opening Day behind stars Cole and Judge

 The New York Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants on Opening Day Thursday afternoon.  The 

game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Gerrit Cole 

Started for the Yankees and he was dominant.  Aaron Judge led the offense with.a couple of hits and RBI 

And his first homerun of the season.  

Cole started for the Yankees and pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and 

11 strikeouts.  He picked up his first win of the season.  Wandy Peralta pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up

A hit and he struck out two, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched to one batter and got him out and Ron Marinaccio

Pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out three.  

Logan Webb started for the Giants and he pitched six innings giving up four hits and four runs with two

Walks and 12 strikeouts.  Webb lost his first game of the season.  John Brebbia pitched an inning

Giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts and Tyler Rogers pitched an inning giving up a hit and

He struck out one.  

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Judge had two hits and two RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.  

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Josh Donaldson had a hit and Gleyber Torres had a hit, two RBI and drew

A walk.  Jose Trevino had a hit, Anthony Volpe drew a walk and Judge and Torres each hit a homerun.  

The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Volpe and Torres each

Had a stolen base.  

LaMonte Wade Jr. Drew a walk, Michael Conforto had a hit and Wilmer Flores drew a walk.  

Joc Pederson drew a walk, Thairo Estrada had two hits and Roberto Perez had a hit.  The Giants were

0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Estrada had a stolen base.

In the first Judge hit a solo homer giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Torres hit a two-run

Homer extending the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh LeMahieu hit an RBI single and Judge hit an RBI 

Single pushing the Yankees lead to 5-0 and that would be the final score.  

The two teams will be off on Friday and will resume their series on Saturday afternoon.
