New York Yankees lose fourth straight in rain shortened game to the Chicago White Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-6 in a rain shortened game.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well and the bullpen continued to struggle.  DJ LeMahieu and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched four innings giving up nine hits and six runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Happ lost his second game of the season.  Jonathan Holder pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two this and two runs. 

Lucas Giolito pitched five innings giving up six hits and six runs with four earned.  He walked four and struck out six and won his second game of the season.  Jose Ruiz pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jace Fry pitched to one batter and got him out and Nate Jones earned his first save pitching to one batter and getting him out. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had an RBI and Luke Voit drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres drew a walk, LeMahieu had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit and drew a walk.  Urshela had two hits and an RBI and Austin Romine had a hit and an RBI.  Urshela hit a double and Gardner hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Leury Garcia had two hits and two RBI, Tim Anderson had a hit and Jose Abreu had a hit and drew a walk.  Yonder Alonso had two hits and three RBI, Yoan Moncada had a hit and Eloy Jimenez had three hits and three RBI.  James McCann had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Adam Engel had a hit and drew a walk.  Engel hit a double and Garcia hit two doubles.  Alonso and McCann each hit a homerun and Jimenez hit two homeruns.  The White Sox were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Anderson had a stolen base and committed an error and Garcia had an outfield assist. 

In the first Alonso hit an RBI single to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first LeMahieu hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the second Garcia hit a two-run double and the White Sox trailed 4-3.  Gardner hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth and the Yankees lead was pushed to 5-3.  In the fifth Alonso hit a two-run homerun and Jimenez hit a two-run homerun and suddenly it was 7-5 White Sox.  In the sixth Urshela hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-6.  In the seventh Jimenez hit a solo homerun and McCann hit a solo homerun to make it 9-6.  Play then stopped for the rain and they never came back to play as the game ended there. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon. 

New York Mets defeat the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night.  The game took place at Sun Trust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 6-3.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and pitched well.  The Mets bullpen pitched pretty well and Pete Alonso and Amed Rosario each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Matz won his first game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts, Luis Avilan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and Jeurys Familia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and two strikeouts.  Edwin Diaz earned his fifth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Kevin Gausman pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Gausman took his first loss of the season.  Wes Parsons pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Jonny Venters pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Josh Tomlin pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.  Luke Jackson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Alonso had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Michael Conforto drew two walks.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew two walks, Jeff McNeil had a hit and Rosario had two hits and four RBI.  Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk, Alonso and Rosario each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Broxton had a stolen base. 

Josh Donaldson had a hit, Freddie Freeman had a hit and Ronald Acuna Jr. had three hits and two RBI.  Dansby Swanson had a hit and drew a walk, Johan Camargo had a hit and an RBI and Tyler Flowers had two hits and drew a walk.  Matt Joyce drew a walk, Freeman and Donaldson each hit a double and Acuna hit a triple.  Camargo and Acuna Jr. each hit a homerun and the Braves were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Swanson had a stolen base. 

In the first Acuna hit an RBI triple to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the second Rosario hit a three-run homerun to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.  In the second Camargo hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Rosario hit an RBI single and it was 4-2 Mets.  In the seventh Alonso hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 6-2.  In the eighth Acuna hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

New York Yankees are swept away in Houston


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 8-6.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well.  Tommy Khanle wasn’t good out of the bullpen and DJ LeMahieu led the offense with three hits. 

Paxton lost his second game of the season pitching four innings giving up eight hits and five runs.  He walked three and struck out five.  Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs, Joe Harvey pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in his major league debut.  Stephen Tarpley pitched to one batter and got him out and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Colin McHugh pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  McHugh won his second game of the season.  Chris Devenski pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Josh James pitched giving up two hits and four runs with two walks and Hector Rendon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Ryan Pressly pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.

George Springer had a hit and an RBI, Jose Altuve had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Michael Brantley had two hits and drew a walk.  Carlos Correa had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Yuri Gurriel had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Tyler White had a hit.  Aledmys Diaz had two hits, Max Stassi had a hit and Jake Marisnick had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Correa and Marisnick each hit a double.  Gurriel hit a triple and Correa hit a homerun.  Altuve hit two homeruns and the Astros were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Springer had a stolen base. 

In the first Gardner hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Gurriel hit a two-run triple to give the Astros a 2-1 lead.  In the third Correa hit an RBI double and it was 3-1 Astros.  In the fourth LeMahieu hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Altuve hit a solo homerun pushing their lead to 4-2.  Correa hit a two-run homerun and it was 6-2.  Marisnick hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-2.  In the eighth Voit hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 7-4.  LeMahieu hit an RBI double and Frazier hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 7-6.  In the eighth Springer hit an RBI single to make it 8-6 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees were swept in the three-game series and will have a day off on Thursday before beginning a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox at home on Friday night. 

New York Mets outlast the Minnesota Twins


The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-6.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched well, his final line doesn’t indicate how well he pitched.  The Mets bullpen was not good and Jeff McNeil led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Syndergaard pitched seven innings giving up five hits and four runs with no walks and seven strikeouts.  He won his first game of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts. 

Jake Odorizzi pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up a hit and three runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Odorizzi lost his second game of the season.  Andrew Vaszuez pitched giving up three runs and two walks without recording an out, Trevor Hildenberger pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Martin Perez pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Trevor May pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI, Pete Alonso had an RBI and drew two walks and Robinson Cano had an RBI and drew two walks.  Michael Conforto had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk, Wilson Ramos had a hit and two RBI and McNeil had two hits and an RBI.  Amed Rosario drew two walks, J.D. Max Kepler had two hits and an RBI, Jorge Polanco drew a walk and Mitch Garver had two hits and an RBI.  Jonathan Schoop had three hits and an RBI, Byron Buxton had a hit and an RBI and Jake Cave had a hit and an RBI.  Schoop and Kepler each hit a double and Buxton hit a triple.  Garver hit a homerun and the Twins were 4-8 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the third Kepler hit an RBI single to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth a hit-by-pitch tied the game at one.  Alonso drew an RBI walk, Cano drew an RBI walk and Conforto drew an RBI walk.  Ramos hit a two-run single and it was 6-1 Mets.  In the seventh Conforto hit a two-run single to push the lead to 8-1 Mets.  McNeil hit an RBI single and it was 9-1 Mets.  In the eighth Schoop hit an RBI double, Buxton hit an RBI triple and Cave hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 9-4.  Willians Astudillo hit into a double play and a run scored to make it a 9-5 game.  In the ninth Garver hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 9-6. 

The Mets will head to Atlanta to take on the Braves in a four-game series beginning on Thursday night.

New York Yankees get doubled up by the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 6-3.  Jonathan Loaisiga started for the Yankees and was ok, the bullpen struggled.  Gary Sanchez led the offense with a couple of hits and RBI. 

Loaisiga pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Stephen Tarpley pitched an inning giving up a hit, Luis Cessa pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Chad Green lost his second game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and Tommy Khanle pitched to two batters and struck them both out. 

Gerrit Cole pitched seven innings giving up four hits and three runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Hector Rondon pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and picked up his first win of the season.  Roberto Osuna earned his fourth save of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout.

George Springer had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Jose Altuve had two hits and two RBI and Alex Bregman had a hit and drew a walk.  Michael Brantley had three hits and an RBI, Carlos Correa drew a walk and Yuri Gurriel had a hit and an RBI.  Josh Reddick had two hits, Robinson Chirinos had a hit and drew a walk.  Tony Kemp drew a walk, Brantley had two doubles and Springer and Bregman each hit a double.  Altuve hit a homerun and the Astros were 3-15 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Correa and Bregman had a stolen base. 

In the first Voit hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gurriel hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the third Altuve hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Sanchez hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh Brantley hit an RBI double tying the game at three.  In the eighth Springer hit a two-run double to give the Astros a 5-3 lead and Altuve hit a sac fly making it a 6-3 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series with the Yankees trying to avoid the sweep on Wednesday night. 


New York Mets lose to the Minnesota Twins in slugfest


The New York Mets were defeated by the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 14-8.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Amed Rosario led the offense with three hits and three other guys had two hits each. 

deGrom pitched four innings giving up eight hits and six runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  deGrom took his first loss of the season.  Seth Lugo pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a  strikeout, Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and three unearned runs with a strikeout.  Jason Vargas pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout. 

Kyle Gibson pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Trevor Hildenberger pitched to one batter and got him out and earned his second win of the season.  Trevor May pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Adalberto Mejia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Blake Parker pitched 2/3 of an inning.  Ryne Harper pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Chase De Jong pitched an inning giving up three hits and four runs with three walks.

In the second Garver hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the second Rosario hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the third a wild pitch and a Rosario hit a two-run homerun giving the Twins a 4-1 lead.  Garver hit a solo homerun making it 5-1.  In the bottom of the third Nimmo hit a solo homerun, Conforto hit a solo homerun and the lead was cut to 5-3.  In the fourth Kepler hit an RBI single to push the lead to 6-3.  In the sixth Schoop hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 7-3.  In the seventh Alonso hit a solo homerun and it was 7-4.  In the eighth a fielding error pushed it to 8-4 and a Polanco two-run homerun made it 10-4.  In the ninth Castro hit an RBI single, Schoop hit a three-run homerun making it a 14-4 game.  In the bottom of the ninth Alonso hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 14-6.  McNeil had an RBI walk and d’Arnaud hit an RBI ground out and the final score was 14-8. 

New York Mets lose a slugfest to the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Sunday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 12-9.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets bullpen wasn’t very good either.  Jeff McNeil, Peter Alonso and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Wheeler pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and seven runs with seven walks and two strikeouts.  Wheeler took his first loss of the season.  Tim Peterson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with five walks and two strikeouts, Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a strikeout and Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Seth Lugo pitched an inning with three strikeouts. 

Max Scherzer pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with no walks and seven strikeouts.  Scherzer won his first game of the season.  Matt Grace pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Trevor Rosenthal pitched to one batter and walked him and Wander Suero pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Joe Ross pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with a walk and Sean Doolittle pitched to two batters and retired them both.  He had a strikeout. 

McNeil had two hits and an RBI, Alonso had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Conforto had two hits and three RBI.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and Luis Guillorme had a hit and drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI and Conforto, Alonso and Nimmo each hit a double.  Conforto and Alonso each hit a homerun and the Mets were 5-14 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ramos committed an error. 

Adam Eaton had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Howie Kendrick had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Rendon had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks.  Juan Soto drew two walks, Ryan Zimmerman had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Kurt Suzuki had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Wilmer Difo drew two walks, Scherzer had a hit and an RBI and Victor Robles had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Eaton hit a double and Rendon hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Robles had a stolen base and Eaton committed an error. 

In the second Scherzer hit an RBI single to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  Robles hit an RBI single, Eaton hit a two-run double and Kendrick hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 5-0.  In the second Ramos hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Suzuki had an RBI walk and a wild pitch made it a 7-1 game.  In the sixth Zimmerman had an RBI walk, Suzuki hit an RBI single and it was 9-1 Nationals.  In the seventh Rendon hit a three-run homerun extending the lead to 12-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Nimmo hit an RBI double, McNeil hit an RBI single and Alonso hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 12-6.  In the ninth Conforto hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 12-9 and that would be the final score. 

The Mets will have the day off on Monday and being a brief two-game series with the Minnesota Twins at home on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees lose a tough one in Houston


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Monday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-3.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched well, the bullpen didn’t pitch well.  Aaron Judge and Clint Frazier led the offense with two hits each. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Zack Britton pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Adam Ottavino lost his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts. 

Justin Verlander pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Ryan Pressly pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and won his first game of the season and Roberto Osuna pitched a perfect inning and picked up his third save of the season.

The New York Yankees sweep the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 15-3.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Gary Sanchez hit three homeruns to lead the offense. 

German won his second game of the season and he pitched six innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Stephen Tarpley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

David Hess pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Hess took his first loss of the season.  Mike Wright pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with three walks and a strikeout, Dan Straily pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with two walks and Hanser Alberto pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks.

Jonathan Villar had two hits, Trey Mancini drew a walk and Rio Ruiz drew a walk.  Renato Nunez had a hit, Jesus Sucre drew a walk and Alberto had two hits and an RBI.  Villar hit a double and the Orioles were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Sucre had a passed ball.  

In the second Torres hit a solo homerun and Frazier hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-0.  In the sixth Frazier hit an RBI single and it was 5-0 Yankees.  In the seventh Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to extend the Yankees lead to 7-0.  LeMahieu hit an RBI double and Urshela hit an RBI single making it a 9-0 game.  In the bottom of the seventh a passed ball gave the Orioles a run, a wild pitch scored a second run and a Alberto RBI single cut the lead to 9-3.  In the eighth Sanchez hit a two-run homerun making it 11-3.  In the ninth Frazier hit a two-run homerun pushing the lead to 13-3 and the final blow would come in the ninth on a Romine two-run homerun to make it 15-3.  15-3 would be the final score as the Yankees swept the three-game series. 

The Yankees will head to Houston for a three-game series beginning on Monday night.

New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles behind the long ball


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles in Saturday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 6-4.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, Jonathan Holder struggled but the rest of the pen was good.  Aaron Judge hit two homeruns and DJ LeMahieu had three hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Holder pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched 1 2/3 innings with a walk and a strike out and he won his first game of the season and Chad Green pitched to one batter and got him out.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and picked up his second save of the season.

Dylan Bundy pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  John Means pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Nate Karns pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and Paul Fry pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up no hits or runs and striking out one.  Miguel Castro pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts and he took his first loss of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Judge had two hits and three RBI and Luke Voit had a hit and drew a walk.  Greg Bird had a hit, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew two walks and LeMahieu had three hits.  Mike Tauchman had a hit, Clint Frazier had a hit and three RBI and Tauchman and Gardner each hit a double.  Frazier hit a homerun and Judge hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Sanchez was picked off and LeMahieu and Happ each committed an error. 

Jonathan Villar had a hit, Joey Rickard drew a walk and Chris Davis had an RBI.  Trey Mancini had two hits and an RBI, Renato Nunez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Rio Ruiz had an RBI.  Jesus Sucre had a hit, Dwight Smith Jr. had a hit and Hanser Alberto had a hit and drew a walk.  Cedric Mullins had a hit, Alberto hit a double and Mancini hit a double.  Mancini hit a homerun and the Orioles were 1-14 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Villar had a stolen base and Smith Jr. had an outfield assist. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Mancini hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the third Judge hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  In the fifth Nunez hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 3-2.  In the seventh Davis reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored to tie the game at three.  Ruiz hit a sac fly and the Orioles grabbed a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Frazier hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 6-4 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.
