The New York Yankees defeated the
Atlanta Braves on Wednesday afternoon.
The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the
final score was 6-2. CC Sabathia started
for the Yankees and he pitched well and so did the bullpen. Didi Gregorius had two hits and Giancarlo
Stanton had three RBI to lead the offense.
Sabathia pitched six innings giving
up five hits and two runs with three walks and five strikeouts and he won his
sixth game of the season. Chad Green
pitched an inning giving up two hits, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving
up a hit and striking out two and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a
hit.
Julio Teheran pitched five innings
giving up five hits and five runs with four walks and ten strikeouts. He lost his sixth game of the season. Luiz Gohara pitched two innings giving up a
hit and a run with three strikeouts and Arodys Vizcaino pitched an inning
giving up a hit.
Brett Gardner drew a walk, Aaron
Judge had a hit and an RBI and Aaron Hicks drew two walks. Stanton had a hit and three RBI, Gregorius
had two hits and Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI. Kyle Higashioka had a hit and an RBI, Neil
Walker had a hit and drew a walk and Gregorius hit a double and Stanton hit a
homerun. The Yankees were 2-7 with
runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Hicks had a stolen base.
Ender Inciarte had two hits and
drew a walk, Ozzie Albies had three hits and Danny Santana had an RBI. Kurt Suzuki drew a walk, Johan Camargo had a
hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Charlie Culberson had two hits. Dansby Swanson had a hit, Culberson hit two
doubles and Camargo hit a homerun. The Braves
were 0-9 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. Inciarte and Albies each had a stolen
base.
In the second Bird hit an RBI
single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the third Stanton hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to
4-0. In the fourth Higashioka hit a solo
homerun and it was 5-0 Yankees. In the
fifth Santana had an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 5-1. In the sixth Camargo hit a solo homerun to
cut the lead to 5-2. In the seventh
Judge hit a solo homerun making it 6-2 and that would be the final score.
The Yankees took two out of three
in the series and will have the day off on Thursday before starting a three
game series in Toronto on Friday night.
