New York Yankees fall to Orioles in extras as offense struggles

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took 

place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 2-1.  Jordan Montgomery started

for the Yankees and pitched well, the bullpen also pitched well.  Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with

three hits but overall the offense was asleep.  


Montgomery pitched five innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  

Wandy Peralta pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk, Jonathan Loaisiga 

pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Miguel Castro pitched an inning with two

walks and three strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.

Clarke Schmidt lost his second game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up a unearned run

and three walks and Aroldis Chapman pitched 1/3 of an inning with a walk and a strikeout.


Jordan Lyles started for the Orioles pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks

and four strikeouts.  Dillon Tate pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts, Jorge Lopez pitched a perfect

inning with two strikeouts and Bryan Baker pitched 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.  Cionel Perez

pitched to one batter and struck him out and Joey Krehbiel won his first game of the season pitching an

inning giving up a hit and striking out one.  


Stanton had three hits and an RBI, Josh Donaldson had a hit and Joey Gallo had a hit.  DJ LeMahieu

had a hit, Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Aaron Hicks drew a walk.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit which 

was a double and they were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gallo had

an outfield assist and Higashioka had two passed balls.


Ramon Urias had an RBI and drew a walk, Ryan Mountcastle drew a walk and Trey Mancini had a 

hit.  Anthony Santander drew a walk, Austin Hays had two hits and drew a walk and Jorge Mateo 

had a hit and an RBI.  Robinson Chirinos had two hits and drew a walk, Anthony Bemboom drew a walk

and Chris Owings drew two walks.  Roughned Odor drew a walk, Kelvin Gutierrez drew a walk and Hays

hit a double and the Orioles were 1-15 with runners in scoring position and left 15 men on base.  


In the third Stanton hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh 

Mateo hit an RBI single tying the game at one.  In the 11th the Orioles got a walkoff walk from Urias

for the 2-1 victory.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Mets hold on for win over the Phillies

 The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.  The game took place at Citizens

Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 9-6.  Max Scherzer started for the Mets

and pitched well just not for long.  Pete Alonso led the offense with three hits and five RBI.  


Scherzer pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Scherzer

won his second game of the season.  Sean Reid-Foley pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two 

runs with a walk, Joely Rodriguez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two runs with two walks and a 

strikeout and Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up two hits.  Seth Lugo pitched a perfect inning

with two strikeouts and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning with a hit and a run and he struck out one.


Aaron Nola pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  

Nola lost his first game of the season, Seranthony Dominguez pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and

a run with two strikeouts, Damon Jones pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two 

walks and a strikeout and Connor Brogdon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs.  

Jose Alvarado pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Bailey Falter pitched two innings giving up

a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  


Brandon Nimmo had a hit, RBI and drew two walks, Francisco Lindor had a hit and drew a walk and 

Starling Marte had two hits and an RBI.  Alonso had three hits and five RBI, Eduardo Escobar had a hit

and drew three walks and Dom Smith had an RBI.  Jeff McNeil had an RBI, Tomas Nido had a hit and

Alonso hit two doubles.  Lindor hit a double, Escobar hit a triple and Nimmo and Alonso each hit a 

homerun.  The Mets were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Marte had 

an outfield assist.  


Kyle Schwarber drew a walk, J.T. Realmuto had a hit and drew a walk and Bryce Harper had a hit, an

RBI and drew two walks.  Nick Castellanos had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Jean Segura had a

hit, Alec Bohm had an RBI and Didi Gregorius drew a walk.  Johan Camargo had two hits, Bryson Stott

had two hits and two RBI.  Matt Vierling had an RBI, Castellanos hit two doubles and Harper hit a homer.

The Phillies were 5-15 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  


In the third Nimmo hit a homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Alonso hit an RBI double 

pushing the lead to 2-0.  McNeil was hit by a pitch extending the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the fourth

Stott hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Alonso hit an RBI double making it 4-1.  In the

sixth Marte hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 5-1.  Alonso hit a three-run homerun extending the lead 

to 8-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Stott hit an RBI groundout, Vierling hit an RBI groundout and the lead

was cut to 8-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Castellanos hit an RBI double, Bohm hit a sac fly and it was 

8-5.  In the ninth Smith hit a sac fly to make it 9-5 and in the bottom of the ninth Harper hit a solo homer

cutting the lead to 9-6 which would be the final score.  The Mets will be off on Thursday and start a three

game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday at home.

New York Yankees shutout the Toronto Blue Jays

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place

at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Nestor Cortes Jr. started for the 

Yankees and he pitched well, bullpen was great and DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to

lead the offense.  


Cortes pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs or walks with five strikeouts.  Clay Holmes

won his first game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts, Miguel Castro pitched a 

perfect inning and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up two hits with a strikeout.  Aroldis 

Chapman pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  


Yusei Kikuchi pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two earned.  He walked two

and struck out two.  Kikuchi lost his first game of the season, David Phelps pitched 2/3 of an inning and

Julian Merryweather pitched a perfect inning.  Tim Mayza pitched a perfect inning and Anthony Kay 

pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  


Josh Donaldson drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.  Giancarlo Stanton

had an RBI, LeMahieu had two hits and Torres had two hits.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI and drew a

walk, Rizzo, LeMahieu, Torres and Judge each hit a double.  Hicks hit a homerun and the Yankees were

1-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Donaldson committed an error.  


George Springer had two hits, Bo Bichette had a hit and Teoscar Hernandez had a hit.  Matt Chapman had

a hit, Springer hit a double and Chapman hit a double.  The Blue Jays were 0-6 with runners in scoring 

position and left six men on base.  Springer had a stolen base, Heineman committed an error and 

Hernandez had an outfield assist.  


In the second Hicks hit a two-run homer giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth

an error pushed the lead to 3-0.  In the eighth a Stanton sac fly made it 4-0 and that was the final

score.  The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night.  

New York Mets shutout the Philadelphia Phillies

 The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at 

Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 2-0.  Tylor Megill started for

the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets offense only produced three hits.  


Megill pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with five strikeouts.  Megill picked up his

second win of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Drew Smith pitched 

1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three and Edwin Diaz picked up his first save of the season

pitching an inning and giving up two hits and he struck out three.  


Zack Wheeler started for the Phillies and pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a 

walk and three strikeouts.  Wheeler took his first loss of the season.  Cristopher Sanchez pitched 2 2/3 

innings giving up a run and two walks and he struck out three, Connor Brogdon pitched 2/3 of an inning

giving up a hit and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  


Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had a hit and an RBI and Pete

Alonso had a hit.  Eduardo Escobar drew a walk, Mark Canha drew a walk and Nimmo hit a homerun.

The Mets were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Starling Marte had a stolen

base and Lindor was caught stealing.  


J.T. Realmuto had two hits, Bryce Harper had a hit and Nick Castellanos had two hits.  Johan Camargo

had a hit, Realmuto and Castellanos each hit a double.  The Phillies were 0-7 with runners in scoring 

position and left five men on base.  


In the fifth Nimmo hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Lindor hit an RBI

single pushing the lead to 2-0 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees are shutout by the Toronto Blue Jays

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.  The game took place 

at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Jameson Taillon started for the 

Yankees making his first start of the season and he pitched well, the bullpen used two relievers and they

looked good as well.  The offense only managed four hits and two by Joey Gallo.  

Taillon pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Taillon 

 took his first loss of the season.  Michael King pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with 

 three strikeouts and Ron Marinaccio pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.  


Alek Manoah started for the Blue Jays and was great pitching six innings and giving up a hit and no runs.  

He walked four and struck out seven and won his first game of the season.  Trevor Richards pitched 1/3 

of an inning giving up a hit and he walked one, Adam Cimber pitched 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout 

 and Jordan Romano earned his third save of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits with 

strikeout.  


Anthony Rizzo drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Gallo had two hits.  Gleyber Torres had a hit.

Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Marwin Gonzalez drew a walk and the Yankees were 0-4 with 

runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  


George Springer had three hits and three RBI, Teoscar Hernandez had three hits and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

had a hit.  Santiago Espinal had three hits, Hernandez and Springer each hit a double and Springer hit a 

homerun.  The Blue Jays were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Espinal

had a stolen base.  


In the third inning Springer hit a two-run homerun to give the Jays a 2-0 lead.  In the seventh Springer

hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-0 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees fail to sweep the Red Sox

 The New York Yankees lost to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Yankee 

Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees

and pitched ok and the bullpen was good.  Stanton had three hits and Judge two to lead the offense.


Montgomery pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  

Clarke Schmidt took his first loss of the season pitching 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and run with a

strikeout, Lucas Luetge pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning

with two walks.  Wandy Peralta pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts.  


Tanner Houck started for the Red Sox and pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with 

three walks and three strikeouts.  Ryan Brasier pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Kutter Crawford

pitched two innings giving up four hits and he struck out three and he won his first game of the season.

Matt Strahm pitched a perfect inning, Hansel Robles pitched an inning with a walk and Jake Diekman

earned his first save of the season pitching a perfect inning striking out the side.


Josh Donaldson had a hit, Anthony Rizzo had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Judge had two

hits.  Stanton had three hits and an RBI, Joey Gallo drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Aaron 

Hicks had a hit, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and drew a walk and Jose Trevino had a hit.  Kiner-Falefa 

and Torres each hit a double and the Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men

on base.  Judge had a stolen base.  


Kike Hernandez drew a walk, Rafael Devers had a hit and Xander Bogaerts had a hit and drew a walk.

J.D. Martinez had a hit and an RBI, Bobby Dalbec had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Christian 

Arroyo had an RBI.  Alex Verdugo had a hit and drew a walk, Jonathan Arauz had an RBI and Martinez 

hit a double.  Dalbec hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and

left six men on base.  


In the first Martinez hit an RBI double, Arroyo hit a sac fly and the Red Sox took a 2-0 lead.  In the 

bottom of the third Stanton hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fourth Arauz hit a sac fly 

pushing the Red Sox lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Rizzo hit a two-run single tying the game

at three.  In the sixth Dalbec hit a solo homer giving the Red Sox a 4-3 lead and that would be the final 

score.  The Yankees took two out of three in the series and will start a four game series with Toronto

on Monday night.  

New York Mets lose first game of season

 The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took 

place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 4-2.  Carlos Carrasco started for the 

Mets and he pitched well.  Mark Canha led the offense with three hits.

Carrasco pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with no walks and five strikeouts.  Chasen

Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up one hit and one run with a walk and strikeout and Trevor Williams

lost his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and two unearned runs.  


Erick Fedde started for the Nationals and pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs with two 

walks and five strikeouts.  Steve Cishek pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout,

Sean Doolittle pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Kyle Finnegan won his first game pitching 

a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Tanner Rainey pitched an inning giving up a hit and earning his first 

save of the season.


Francisco Lindor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Eduardo Escobar had a hit and Dom Smith drew 

two walks.  Canha had three hits and an RBI, Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew a walk and Tomas Nido 

had a hit.  Escobar hit a double, Lindor hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-8 with runners in scoring 

position and left eight men on base.  Lindor had a stolen base and Alonso committed an error.


Nelson Cruz had two hits and three RBI, Josh Bell had a hit and drew a walk, Yadiel Hernandez had a hit.

Maikel Franco had a hit, Lucius Fox had an RBI and Cruz hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 1-5 with

runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Bell was caught stealing.  


In the bottom of the first Cruz hit a solo homerun to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Lindor

hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Canha hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the 

bottom of the eighth Fox hit a sac bunt to tie the game at two, Cruz hit a two-run single and the Nationals 

took a 4-2 lead and that was the final score.  The Mets took three of four and will head to Philly to take

on the Phillies starting Monday night.

New York Mets win again in Washington

 The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Saturday.  The game took place at Nationals 

Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 5-0.  Chris Bassitt started for the Mets and pitched well.

The offense was led by Brandon Nimmo and Travis Jankowski who each had two hits.

Bassitt won his first game of the season pitching six innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked

one and struck out eight.  Drew Smith pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Joely Rodriguez pitched

1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking 

out one.  

Joan Adon started for the Nationals and he pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with 

four walks and three strikeouts and he took his first loss of the season.  Austin Voth pitched 2/3 of an 

inning giving up two hits, Kyle Finnegan pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Tanner Rainey

pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two.  Mason Thompson walked the only guy he faced 

and Andres Machado pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  

Nimmo had two hits and drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had a hit and drew two walks and Pete Alonso

had a hit and four RBI.  Jeff McNeil had a hit, Dom Smith had a hit and Jankowski had two hits and drew

a walk.  Luis Guillorme drew a walk, James McCann had a hit and Nimmo and Lindor each hit a double.

Alonso hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.

Jankowski had a stolen base and Lindor committed an error.

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, Juan Soto had two hits and Josh Bell had a hit and drew a walk.  The Nationals 

were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Thomas had an outfield assist.  

In the fifth Alonso hit a grand slam giving the Mets a 4-0 lead.  In the ninth a wild pitch made it 5-0

which was the final score.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday

afternoon.  The Mets will look for the sweep.

New York Mets win second straight in Washington

 The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Friday.  The game took place at Nationals 

Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 7-3.  Max Scherzer started for the Mets and had a solid

outing.  Jeff McNeil led the offense with three hits.  

Scherzer pitched six innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Scherzer 

won his first game of the season.  Drew Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, 

Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one and Sean Reid-Foley pitched a perfect 

inning.

Josiah Gray started for the Nationals and pitched four innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two

walks and five strikeouts and took his first loss of the season.  Steve Cishek pitched to one batter and hit

him getting ejected, Sean Doolittle pitched an inning with a strikeout and Victor Arano pitched an inning

giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Patrick Murphy pitched 2/3 of an inning walking three,

Paolo Espino pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.

In the bottom of the second Hernandez hit a sac fly giving the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the third McNeil

hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Cano hit a two-run single giving the Mets a 3-1

lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Bell hit a two-run homer tying the game at three.  In the fifth Marte

hit an RBI double giving the Mets a 4-3 lead, in the sixth the lead was extended to 6-3.  Marte hit a 

two-run single.  In the ninth McNeil hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 7-3 which was the final score.

The two teams will play game three on Saturday.  


New York Yankees win second straight over Red Sox

 The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Saturday evening.  The game took place in the 

Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and looked good, he 

just didn’t pitch long.  The bullpen was great and the offense hit two two-run homeruns.

Severino pitched three innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  Ron

Marinaccio made his major league debut pitching an inning, walking one and striking out two.  Miguel

Castro pitched an inning with a walk, Lucas Luetge picked up his first win of the season pitching an 

inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Clay 

Holmes pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a

strikeout and earned his first save of the season.  

Nick Pivetta started for the Red Sox and took his first loss of the season.  He pitched 5 2/3 innings giving

up four hits and four runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Austin Davis pitched to one batter and got 

him out, Hirokazu Sawamura pitched a perfect inning and Phillips Valdez pitched a perfect inning with

a strikeout.

In the second Verdugo hit a two-run homerun giving the Red Sox a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth

Rizzo hit a two-run homer to tie the game at two and in the bottom of the sixth Stanton hit a two-run 

homer to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead which would be the final score.  The two teams will play the third 

and final game of the series on Sunday night.  The Yankees will be looking for the sweep.
