New York Mets are beat by the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Tuesday.  The game took place at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter Florida and the final score was 8-1.  deGrom started for the Mets and pitched well.  Dominic Smith led the offense with a couple of hits. 

deGrom pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs and he had six strikeouts.  Hector Santiago pitched an inning with three strikeouts, Tyler Bashlor pitched an inning giving up five hits and four runs and Daniel Zamora pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with one being earned.  He walked two and struck out one, Tim Peterson pitched to two batters and retired them both. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit, Juan Lagares had a hit and Smith had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Rajai Davis had a hit, Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit and R. Davis, Hechavarria and Smith each hit a double.  The Mets were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Lagares had a stolen base, Hechavarria committed an error and Lagares had two outfield assists. 

In the third Brian Anderson hit a two-run homerun to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Smith hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the seventh Yadiel Rivera hit an RBI single, Garrett Cooper hit a two-run double and Jon Berti hit an RBI single to push the Marlins lead to 6-1.  In the eighth Austin Dean grounded into a force out and two runs scored, one on an error to make it 8-1 which would be the final score. 

The Mets record fell to 8-10 on the spring and they will take on the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon in Port St. Lucie.

New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies tie


The New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies played to a 5-5 10 innings tie on Wednesday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  Giancarlo Stanton and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the Yankees offense. 

Tanaka pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with six strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run with a walk and a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Drew Hutchison pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Phillip Diehl pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and a RBI, Kyle Holder drew a walk and Stanton had two hits and an RBI. co Matt Lipka drew a walk, Luke Voit had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and L.J. Mazzilli drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk, Greg Bird had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Urshela had two hits.  Tyler Wade had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Stanton hit a homerun and the Yankees were 5-13 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Wade was caught stealing. 

In the first Voit hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gardner hit a sac fly to extend the Yankees lead to 2-0.  In the fourth J.T. Realmuto hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1 and Scott Kingery hit a two-run homerun to give the Phillies a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Aaron Altherr hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the sixth Stanton hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  Bird hit an RBI single to tie the game at four and Wade had an RBI walk to make it 5-4 Yankees.  In the ninth a wild pitch tied the game at five and that would be the final score. 


New York Yankees came back to defeat the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 8-7.  Jonathan Loaisiga started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well.  Zack Britton, Aroldis Chapman and Chad Green all pitched well for the Yankees.  Miguel Andujar had three hits and Brett Gardner had two RBI to lead the offense. 

Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up five hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out three.  Britton pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Chapman pitched an inning walking one and striking out one and Green pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Stephen Tarpley pitched two innings giving up a hit. 

Gardner had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Estevan Florial had a hit and Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI.  Trey Amburgey had an RBI and drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Clint Frazier had an RBI.  Luke Voit had a hit, Andujar had three hits and Tyler Wade had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Kyle Higashioka had a hit and an RBI and Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI.  Jorge Saez had a hit, Troy Tulowitzki had a hit and Higashioka, Judge and Gardner each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Wade was caught stealing and picked off and Sanchez committed an error. 

In the first Cedric Mullins stole third base and scored on a throwing error to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Judge hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the second Eric Young Jr. hit an RBI single, Austin Hays hit a three-run double and Chris Davis hit an RBI single to push the Orioles lead to 6-2.  In the bottom of the fourth Gardner hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 6-4.  In the fifth Bird hit an RBI single and it became a 6-5 game.  In the seventh Hays hit a solo homerun to give them a 7-5 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Higashioka hit a solo homerun, Amburgey had an RBI walk and Frazier had a sac fly to give the Yankees a 8-7 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees record improved to 9-6 and they will take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. 


The New York Mets are doubled up by the Houston Astros


 The New York Mets were defeated by the Houston Astros on Monday.  The game took place at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in Palm Beach, Florida and the final score was 6-3.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Brandon Nimmo led the offense with three hits and Devin Mesoraco had a couple of hits. 

Vargas pitched four innings giving up three hits and he struck out three.  Seth Lugo pitched a perfect inning, Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with a strikeout and Jacob Rhame pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Eric Hanhold pitched 2/3 of an inning and retired both batters that he faced. 

Nimmo had three hits and an RBI, Braxton Lee drew a walk and Jeff McNeil had a hit.   Cano drew a walk, Luis Guillorme drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Peter Alonso had a hit, Danny Espinosa had a hit and Gregor Blanco had a hit and an RBI.  Mesoraco had two hits and an RBI, Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit, Alonso and Nimmo each hit a double.  Mesoraco hit two doubles, Blanco hit a triple and the Mets were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. 

In the second Blanco hit an RBI triple to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Mesoraco hit an RBI doublue and Nimmo hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Yuli Gurriel hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1 and Yordan Alvarez hit an RBI single to make it a 3-2 game.  In the seventh Nick Tanielu hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the eighth Kyle Tucker hit a two-run double and Tanielu reached on a fielding error and a run scored to make it a 6-3 game which was the final score.

New York Mets pound the Boston Red Sox


The New York Mets defeated the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.  The game took place at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida and the final score was 10-2.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched great and Brandon Nimmo had a couple of hits and RBI, Peter Alonso also had a couple of hits and J.D. Davis had three hits to lead the team. 

Wheeler pitched four innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Kyle Dowdy pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs, Tyler Bashlor pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jacob Rhame pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Tim Peterson pitched an inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Nimmo had two hits and two RBI, Keon Broxton had a hit and Braxton Lee had a hit and two RBI.  Alonso had two hits and an RBI, Davis had three hits and Tomas Nido had a hit.   Rymer Liriano had two hits and drew a walk, Luis Guillorme had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Rajai Davis had a hit and two RBI.  Guillorme, Davis and Liriano each hit a double.  Nimmo hit a triple and Alonso hit a homerun.  The Mets were 6-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Davis had an outfield assist.  In the third Nimmo hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Guillorme hit an RBI double, Nimmo an RBI triple and a wild pitch made it 4-0.  In the fifth Blake Swihart hit an RBI single and Andrew Benintendi hit an RBI single to cut the lead in half at 4-2.  In the sixth Alonso hit a solo homerun, a wild pitch and Davis hit a sac fly to make it a 7-2 game.  In the eighth Davis hit an RBI double and Lee hit a two-run single pushing the lead to 10-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Mets record improved to 7-8 on the spring and they will return home to take on the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.    

New York Mets lose to the Miami Marlins with some very sloppy play


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Friday.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 10-3.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Robinson Cano and Andres Gimenez each had a couple of hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched four innings giving up six hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out eight.  Seth Lugo pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and four runs with one being earned and he struck out four, Casey Coleman pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Luis Avilan pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one being earned. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit and an RBI, Cano had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Wilson Ramos had a hit.  Gimenez had two hits and an RBI, Dilson Herrera drew a walk and Cano, Gimenez and McNeil each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Herrera, Alcantara, Gimenez and Smith each committed an error.  McNeil had an outfield assist. 

In the first McNeil hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Neil Walker hit a three-run homerun to give the Marlins a 3-1 lead.  In the fourth JT Riddle hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Cano hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2.  In the fifth Walker hit a solo homerun to increase the lead to 5-2.  In the sixth the Marlins scored three more runs to make it 8-2.  Isaac Galloway hit an RBI triple, Gabriel Guerrero hit an RBI double and Yadiel Rivera hit an RBI double.  In the bottom of the seventh Gimenez hit a solo homerun to make it an 8-3 game.  In the ninth Isan Diaz hit a sac fly and Harold Ramirez reached on an error to make it 10-3 and that would be the final score. 

The Mets record fell to 6-8 for the spring and they will head to Fort Myers to take on the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.
