The New York Mets defeated the Washington
Nationals on Wednesday. The game took
place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 8-4. Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he
pitched well. Robinson Cano had three
hits to lead the offense.
Wheeler pitched five innings giving
up seven hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts. Wheeler picked up his 10th win of
the season. Jeurys Familia pitched 2/3
of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout,
Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and struck him out and Seth Lugo pitched two
innings giving up two hits and he struck out one. Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a walk.
Anibal Sanchez lost his seventh
game of the season pitching five innings and giving up eight hits and seven
runs with three walks and two strikeouts.
Hunter Strickland pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked a
batter, Wander Suero pitched an inning giving up a hit and Fernando Rodney
pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk. Sean Doolittle pitched an inning giving up a
hit and a walk.
Jeff McNeil had two hits and two
RBI, Pete Alonso had a hit and an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit. Wilson Ramos drew a walk, Cano had three
hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Todd Frazier drew a walk. J.D. Davis had two hits, Joe Panik had a hit
and Amed Rosario had two hits and an RBI.
Juan Lagares had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Brandon Nimmo drew two
walks and Conforto and Davis each hit a double.
Lagares, Cano and Alonso each hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-13 with
runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Rosario had a stolen base.
Trea Turner had two hits and an
RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Rendon had
two hits and two RBI. Juan Soto had a
hit and drew a walk, Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and Kurt Suzuki drew a walk. Victor Robles had a hit, Gerardo Parra had a
hit and drew a walk and Sanchez had a hit.
Andrew Stevenson drew a walk, Howie Kendrick had a hit and Rendon and
Robles each hit a double. The Nationals were 3-11 with runners in
scoring position and left 12 men on base.
Robles committed an error and Parra had an outfield assist.
In the second Turner hit an RBI
single to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.
In the third Lagares hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one. In the fourth Cano hit a two-run homerun to
give the Mets a 3-1 lead. In the fifth
Alonso hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 4-1. In the sixth Rosario hit a two-run single
making it 6-1. McNeil hit an RBI single
and it was 7-1. In the bottom of the
sixth Cabrera hit an RBI single and Rendon hit a two-run double to cut the lead
to 7-4. In the eighth McNeil hit an RBI
single to make it 8-4 and that was the final score of the game.
