New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in extra innings


The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 7-4 in 11 innings.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Asdrubal Cabrera led the offense with four hits and four RBI. 

Lugo pitched four innings giving up six hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out four.  Chasen Bradford pitched a perfect inning, Josh Smoker pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Paul Sewald pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Jamie Callahan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and retired him and AJ Ramos pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Jacob Rhame pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts and won his first game of the season and Jeurys Familia earned his sixth save pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Henderson Alvarez pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with six walks.  Zac Curtis pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Hoby Milner pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and Victor Arano pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Hector Neris pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Edubray Ramos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Adam Morgan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his third game of the season.  Yacksel Rios pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and struck out one. 

Nori Aoki drew three walks, Jose Reyes had a hit and drew a walk and Cabrera had four hits and four RBI.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Kevin Plawecki had two hits and drew three walks and Dominic Smith drew two walks.  Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI, Juan Lagares had a hit and Phillip Evans had a hit.  Rosario, Lagares and Cabrera each hit a double.  Nimmo hit a triple and Cabrera hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, J.P. Crawford had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Altherr had a hit and an RBI.  Rhys Hoskins had a hit and an RBI, Nick Williams had a hit and Maikel Franco had a hit and an RBI.  Jorge Alfaro had a hit, Freddy Galvis drew a walk and Alfaro hit a double and Franco hit a homerun.  The Phillies were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Alfaro had a passed ball and Williams had an outfield assist. 

In the second Franc hit a solo homerun to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  Hernandez hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Rosario hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Nimmo hit a two-run triple to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh Cabrera hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the seventh Altherr hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-3.  Hoskins hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  In the 11th Cabrera hit a three-run homerun to give the Mets a 7-4 lead and that would be the final score.

The Mets drop one to the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 6-2.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Nori Aoki, Asdrubal Cabrera and Juan Lagares each had two hits to lead the offensive attack. 

Harvey lost his seventh game of the season pitching four innings and giving up seven hits and four runs.  He walked three and struck out three.  Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs, Kevin McGowan pitched a perfect inning and Jacob Rhame pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Ben Lively pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with a strikeout and he won his fourth game of the season.  Adam Morgan pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two, Luis Garcia pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Edubray Ramos pitched an inning giving up two hits. 

Aoki had two hits, Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera had two hits.  Travis d’Arnaud had a hit, Dominic Smith had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Lagares had two hits.  Phillip Evans had a hit, Reyes and Smith each hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Cabrera committed an error and Lagares had an outfield assist. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Freddy Galvis had a hit and drew a walk and Nick Williams had two hits.  Rhys Hoskins had a hit, Odubel Herrera had two hits and an RBI and Maikel Franco had a hit and two RBI.  Jorge Alfaro had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Alfaro hit a double and Franco, Alfaro and Hernandez each hit a homerun.  The Phillies were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Reyes hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Franco hit a two-run homerun to give the Phillies a 2-1 lead.  In the third Herrera hit a sac fly to extend the Phillies lead to 3-1.  A balk made the score 4-1.  In the fifth Smith hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth Alfaro hit a solo homerun and Hernandez hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score.   

The New York Yankees defeat the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Todd Frazier had two hits to lead the Yankees offense. 

Sabathia pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out six and won his 14th game of the season.  Chad Green pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Tommy Khanle pitched giving up a hit and a run and David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a strikeout and saved his 22nd game of the season. 

Marcus Stroman pitched four innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He lost his ninth game of the season.  Aaron Loup pitched 1/3 of an inning and he walked two batters, Carlos Ramirez pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Matt Dermody pitched 1/3 of an inning with a walk.  Dominic Leone pitched to two batters and struck them both out and Tim Mayza pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI and Greg Bird had a hit.  T. Frazier had two hits and Aaron Hicks drew two walks.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had an RBI and Russell Martin had a hit.  Darwin Barney had a hit, Ezequiel Carrera had a hit, Rob Refsnyder had a hit and Miguel Montero drew a walk.  Ryan Goins had a hit, Goins hit a double and the Blue Jays were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Bautista had an outfield assist. 

In the fourth Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Castro hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the eighth Donaldson hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1.  2-1 would be the final score of the game.

New York Yankees shutout the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Didi Gregorius and Greg Bird each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He didn’t walk a batter and he struck out 15 and won his 13th game of the season.  David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Dellin Betances gave up a hit and a walk without recording an out and Aroldis Chapman saved his 21st game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Joe Biagini pitched five innings giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out three and lost his 13th game of the season.  Matt Dermody pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Danny Barnes pitched to two batters and retired them both and Tom Koehler pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out three.  Mayza pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Gregorius had two hits.  Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI, Bird had two hits and two RBI and Todd Frazier drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit, Bird hit a double and the Yankees were 4-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Ellsbury, Castro, Hicks and Gregorius each stole a base and Romine had a passed ball.  Tanaka had a pickoff. 

Teoscar Hernandez drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had a hit and Ezequiel Carrera had a hit and drew a walk.  Ryan Goins had a hit and Richard Urena had a hit.  Donaldson hit a double and the Blue Jays were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Carrera had a stolen base and was picked off.  Carrera had an outfield assist. 

In the first Castro hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Bird hit a sac fly to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Judge hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0 and in the sixth Bird hit an RBI single to make it a 4-0 game which would be the final score.   

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees fail to sweep the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-6.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  Jacoby Ellsbury led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Gray lost his 12th game of the season pitching 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and six runs with five walks and two strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched giving up two hits and two runs without recording an out, Chase Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Ben Heller pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Giovanny Gallegos pitched a perfect inning. 

Jake Faria pitched three innings giving up four hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out two.  Chih-Wei Hu pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run, Tommy Hunter pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Jose Alvarado pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Sergio Romo pitched an inning walking one and striking out one, Dan Jennings pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Chaz Roe pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Starlin Castro had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI, Ellsbury had two hits and Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI, Gardner, Judge, Bird and Hicks each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Sanchez committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball and Gardner had an outfield assist. 

Mallex Smith had two hits, Corey Dickerson had two hits and an RBI and Lucas Duda drew three walks.  Trevor Plouffe had a hit and an RBI, Wilson Ramos had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit.  Robertson drew a walk, Cesar Puello had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Peter Bourjos had a hit and two RBI.  Bourjos hit a triple, Dickerson, Ramos and Plouffe each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ramos had a passed ball. 

In the first Dickerson hit a solo homerun to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Gardner hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Judge hit a solo homerun going back-to-back to make it 2-1.  In the second T. Frazier hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Bird hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth a wild pitch made it 4-2.  A passed ball cut the lead to 4-3 and Ramos hit a two-run homerun to give the Rays a 5-4 lead.  Puello hit an RBI single to make it a 6-4 game and Bourjos hit a two-run triple to push the lead to 8-4.  In the fifth Castro hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-5.  In the sixth Plouffe hit a solo homerun to push it to 9-5.  In the ninth Hicks hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 9-6 and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees win second straight over Tampa Bay Rays 6-1


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-1.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen did their job.  Brett Gardner, Chase Headley and Aaron Hicks each had two hits. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and nine strikeouts and won his 14th game of the season.  Chase Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Chad Green pitched to one batter and got him out and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Matt Andriese pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Andriese lost his fifth game of the season.  Xavier Cedeno pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs, Jose Alvarado pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Ryne Stanek pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Chase Whitley pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Gardner had two hits, Aaron Judge had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI.  Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI, Headley had two hits and Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk.  Hicks had two hits and two RBI, Gardner hit two doubles and Judge hit a double.  Castro, Bird and Hicks each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Kevin Kiermaier drew a walk, Logan Morrison had a hit and Steven Souza Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits and an RBI, Brad Miller had a hit and Souza Jr. hit a double and Hechavarria hit a homerun and the Rays were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Longoria committed an error. 

In the fifth Hechavarria hit a solo homerun to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Judge hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Castro hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 3-1.  Bird hit a solo homerun and Hicks hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 6-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will look for the sweep on Thursday night.

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-1.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Starlin Castro led the offense with three hits. 

Montgomery pitched six innings giving up six hits and a run.  He walked one and struck out five and won his ninth game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning. 

Blake Snell pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with four walks and a strikeout.  Snell lost his seventh game of the season.  Chaz Roe pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out two, Andrew Kittredge pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Brad Boxberger pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Sergio Romo pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dan Jennings pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Austin Pruitt pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks. 

Aaron Hicks had an RBI and drew three walks, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Gary Sanchez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI, Castro had three hits and an RBI and drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit.  Clint Frazier had a hit, Ronald Torreyes had two hits and drew a walk and Judge and Torreyes each hit a double.  Castro hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-15 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Hicks and Judge each had a stolen base. 

Kevin Kiermaier had two hits, Steven Souza Jr. had three hits and drew a walk and Evan Longoria drew a walk.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI, and the Rays were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Ramos hit a sac fly to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the second Castro hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Hicks drew an RBI walk, Judge drew an RBI walk and a wild pitch made it 4-1 in the second.  In the eighth Sanchez hit an RBI single to increase the lead to 5-1.  Holliday hit an RBI single to push the lead to 6-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.
