The Mets lose in Arizona as the game gets away late



The New York Mets were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.  The game took place at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.  Jon Niese started for the Mets and was ok and the bullpen wasn't.  The Mets had six hits and no one had more than a hit. 

Niese pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Niese lost his sixth game of the season.  Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jack Leathersich gave up a run and a walk and Erick Goeddel pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Jeremy Hellickson won his fourth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and two runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Andrew Chafin pitched a perfect inning, Daniel Hudson pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Randall Delgado pitched an inning striking out two. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk, Ruben Tejada had a hit and Lucas Duda drew a walk.  Michael Cuddyer had a hit and an RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Eric Campbell had a hit and an RBI, Niese drew a walk and Flores hit a double.  Cuddyer hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Niese committed an error. 

Ender Inciarte had a hit, A.J. Pollock had three hits and two RBI and Paul Goldschmidt had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Yasmani Thomas had two hits and an RBI, David Peralta drew a walk and Aaron Hill had a hit and an RBI.  Chris Owings had a hit and an RBI, Nick Ahmed drew two walks and Pollock hit a double.  Tomas hit a double and Inciarte hit a triple and the Diamondbacks were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ahmed had a stolen base, Pollock had a stolen base and Goldschmidt had a stolen base. 

In the second Cuddyer hit a solo homerun to make it 1-0 Mets.  In the third the Diamondbacks tied it on a Pollock RBI single.  Campbell hit an RBI single in the fourth and it was 2-1 Mets.  In the sixth the Diamondbacks tied it up again on a Goldschmidt RBI single.  Tomas hit an RBI double and the Diamondbacks took a 3-2 lead.  Pollock hit an RBI double in the eighth to make it 4-2 Diamondbacks.  Hill hit an RBI single, Owings hit a sac fly and a wild pitch made it 7-2 and that was all in the eighth inning.   

The New York Yankees roll to fifth straight victory



The New York Yankees defeated the Anaheim Angels on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-2 Yankees.  Adam Warren started and pitched well again.  Brett Gardner, Didi Gregorius, Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann each had two hits. 

Warren pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Warren earned his fourth win of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Chris Capuano pitched a perfec t inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Garrett Richards lost his fourth game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up five hits and six runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Cesar Ramos pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Hector Santiago pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up two hits and striking out three and Jose Alvarez pitched two innings giving up a walk and striking out one, Cam Bedrosian pitched an inning giving up two hits and  a run with two walks and a strikeout. 

Gardner had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and Alex Rodriguez drew three walks.  Mark Teixeira had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, McCann had two hits and two RBI and Beltran had two hits and an RBI.  Gregorius had two hits, Ramon Flores had a hit and Gregorius and Flores each hit a double.  McCann hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base. 

Erick Aybar had a hit, Mike Trout had a hit and an RBI and Albert Pujols had a hit and drew a walk.  Cole Calhoun drew a walk, David Freese had a hit and Matt Joyce had a hit.  Johnny Giavotella had an RBI and drew a walk, Joyce and Freese each hit a double and Trout hit a homerun.  The Angels were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Teixeira hit a sac fly to make it 1-0 Yankees.  A wild pitch made it 2-0, McCann hit a two run homerun and just like that it was 4-0 Yankees.  Gardner hit a two run single to make it 6-0.  Beltran hit an RBI single in the second to push the lead to 7-0.  Giavotella hit a sac fly to cut into the lead and make it a 7-1 game.  In the sixth Trout hit a solo homerun and it was 7-2 Yankees.  Teixeira had an RBI walk in the eighth to push the lead back to 8-2. 

The Yankees will go for the three game sweep on Sunday afternoon.  CC Sabathia will start against C.J. Wilson.

The New York Yankees sweep the Seattle Mariners behind a dominant Masahiro Tanaka



The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 3-1.  Masahiro Tanaka made his first start in over a month after coming back from an arm injury.  He pitched great for the Yankees and Garrett Jones and Mark Teixeira each hit a homerun. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up a run on three hits.  He walked none and struck out nine and picked up his  third win of the season.  Chris Capuano pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Andrew Miller pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. 

Taijuan Walker pitched eight innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Walker lost his sixth game of the season.  Charlie Furbush pitched a perfect inning. 

Chase Headley had a hit, Alex Rodriguez drew a walk and Mark Teixeira had a hit and an RBI.  Jones had a hit and two RBI, Didi Gregorius had two hits and Headley hit a double.  Teixeira and Jones each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Flores had an outfield assist. 

Logan Morrison had a hit, Kyle Seager had a hit and Justin Ruggiano had a hit.  Brad Miller had a hit, Dustin Ackley had a hit and an RBI and Ackley hit a double and Miller hit a triple.  The Mariners were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the second Teixeira hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  The Mariners tied the game at one in the third on an Ackley RBI double.  In the fourth Jones hit a two run homerun to make it 3-1 Yankees.  The final score was 3-1 Yankees. 

The Yankees swept the three game series and after a day off on Thursday they will begin a three game series with the Anaheim Angels on Friday night at Yankee Stadium. 

The New York Mets shutout the San Diego Padres on the West Coast



The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Monday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 7-0.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched great.  Ruben Tejada had three hits and Daniel Murphy had four hits. 

deGrom pitched eight innings giving up no runs and two hits.  He didn't walk a batter and he struck out eight and picked up his sixth win of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched an inning striking out one. 

Andrew Cashner pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up 11 hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He didn't walk a batter and struck out 12.  Cashner took his eighth loss of the season.  Shawn Kelley pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts, Kevin Quackenbush pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Cory Mazzoni pitched an inning with a walk.  Brandon Maurer pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Tejada had three hits, Murphy had four hits and three RBI and Michael Cuddyer had a hit.  Wilmer Flores had two hits and an RBI, Daniel Ceciliani had a hit and an RBI, Juan Lagares had two hits and an RBI and Kevin Plawecki drew a walk.  Tejada, Cuddyer and Murphy each hit a double, Lagares hit a triple and Murphy hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ceciliani  had a stolen base and Murphy was caught stealing. 

Will Middlebrooks had a hit, Barmes had a hit and the Padres were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.  Middlebrooks committed an error. 

In the first Murphy hit an RBI single and Ceciliani reached on a throwing error and a run scored to make it 2-0 Mets.  In the fifth Murphy hit a two run homerun, Ceciliani hit an RBI single and Lagares hit an RBI single to make it a 6-0 game.  In the seventh Flores hit an RBI single and it was 7-0 Mets which would be the final score. 

The two teams will continue their series on Tuesday night in San Diego.

New York Yankees take down a King in Seattle



The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Monday night.  The game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 7-2 Yankees.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and pitched very well.  Mark Teixeira hit a grand slam to lead the offense. 

Pineda pitched into the seventh inning but then ran into trouble.  He gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks and struck out nine.  Pineda won his seventh game of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Dellin Betances pitched an inning striking out the side and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Felix Hernandez pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and seven runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  Mayckol Guaipe pitched 2 1/3 innings and struck out two and Dominic Leone pitched two innings giving up a hit and striking out two. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI and Alex Rodriguez had a hit and drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk, Carlos Beltran had a hit and drew a walk and Stephen Drew had a hit and drew a walk.  Ramon Flores had a hit, Beltran hit a double and Teixeira hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Logan Morrison had a hit, Nelson Cruz had a hit and Kyle Seager had two hits.  Seth Smith had a hit and an RBI and Justin Ruggiano had a hit.  Austin Jackson had two hits and an RBI, Brad Miller drew two walks and Jackson hit a double.  Smith hit a triple and the Mariners were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Jackson was caught stealing. 

In the fourth a wild pitch scored a run and gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  McCann grounded into a double pay and it was 2-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Headley hit a sac fly to make it 3-0 Yankees.  Teixeira hit a grand slam to increase the lead to 7-0.  In the bottom of the seventh  Smith hit an RBI triple to make it 7-1.  Jackson hit an RBI double to make it 7-2.  The Yankees and Mariners will play game two of their three game series on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets salvage the final game of the series against the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Bartolo Colon pitched well and had an RBI double.  The Mets only managed six hits and no player had more than a hit. 

Colon pitched seven innings giving up six hits and three runs with two strikeouts.  Carlos Torres pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Jeurys Familia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and striking out two and he picked up his 15th save of the season. 

David Phelps pitched six innings giving up four hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He struck out two batters.  Pat Cishek lost his fith game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Mike Dunn pitched to one batter and retired him and Matt Capps pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Dee Gordon had two hits, Martin Prado had a hit and Justin Bour had two hits and an RBI.  Ichiro Suzuki had a hit, Donovan Solano had a hit and Christian Yelich had a hit and an RBI.  Marcell Ozuna had a hit, Jhonatan Solano had an RBI and Yelich hit a double.  Bour hit a homerun adn the Marlins were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Bour committed an error. 

In the first Flores reached on a fielding error and a run scored to make it 1-0 Mets.  In the second Yelich hit an RBI groundout to tie the game at one.  Colon hit an RBI double in the bottom of the second to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the third Flores hit a solo homerun and it was 3-1 Mets.  In the fifth Solano hit an RBI groundout to trim the lead to 3-2 Mets.  In the sixth Bour hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  Tejada hit an RBI double in the seventh to make it 4-3 Mets and that would be the final score.  The Mets lost two out of three in the series and the Mets will head to the West Coast to take on the Padres on Monday night to begin a three game series.   

The New York Yankees drop the finale in Oakland



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Sunday evening.  The game took place at O.co Colisseum in Oakland, California and the final score was 3-0 Oakland.  Adam Warren started for the Yankees and pitched well.  The Yankees offense didn't get much going, Alex Rodriguez did have two hits and Ramon Flores recorded his first major league hit. 

Warren pitched  seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Warren lost his fourth game of the season, Esmil Rogers pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Jacob Lindgren retired the only batter that he faced and David Carpenter retired the only batter that he faced.  Jesse Chavez pitched eight innings giving up seven htis and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Chavez won his second game of the season.  Tyler Clippard recorded his seventh save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit with a walk and striking out one. 

Chase Headley had a hit, Alex Rodriguez had two hits and Mark Teixeira had a hit.  Carlos Beltran drew a walk, Ramon Flores had a hit and Didi Gregorius had two hits.  Jose Pirela had a hit, the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner committed an error. 

Billy Burns had three hits, Ben Zobrist had a hit and Stephen Vogt had a hit and three RBI.  Billy Butler had a hit, Josh Reddick drew a walk and Max Muncy had two hits.  Vogt hit a homerun and the Athletics were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Burns had two stolen bases. 

In the sixth Vogt hit a two run homerun to give the Athletics a 2-0 lead.  In the eighth Vogt hit a sacrifice fly and it was 3-0 Athletics.  The final score of the game was 3-0.  The Yankees lost three of four in the series and will head to Seattle to take on the Mariners in a three game series beginning on Monday night.
