New York Mets are shutout by the Milwaukee Brewers in Game two of doubleheader

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night in game two of their doubleheader.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Robert Stock started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  The Mets offense managed three hits.   

Stock started for the Mets and pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked two and struck out five and took his second loss of the season.  Drew Smith pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts, Miguel Castro pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs and Yennsy Diaz pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Brett Anderson started for the Brewers and he pitched four innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Jake Cousins pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his first win of the season, Brad Boxberger pitched an inning with three walks and three strikeouts and Hunter Strickland pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jonathan Villar drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had a hit and Dom Smith had a hit.  James McCann had a hit, Brandon Nimmo drew a walk and Jeff McNeil drew a walk.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Luis Urias had two hits and two RBI, Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk and Willy Adames had a hit and an RBI.  Rowdy Tellez had a hit, Jace Peterson had a hit and drew two walks and Manny Pina had a hit and two RBI.  Pina, Adames and Urias each hit a homerun.  The Brewers were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the second Pina hit a two-run homerun to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Adames hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Urias hit a two-run homerun extending the lead to 5-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams split the doubleheader and the Mets will remain home to take on the Pirates on Thursday night.

The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in Game one of their doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil led the offense with two hits each. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with no walks and ten strikeouts.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up an unearned run and two walks with two strikeouts.  Diaz picked up his third win of the season. 

Corbin Burnes started for the Brewers and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with no walks and eight strikeouts.  Devin Williams pitched to one batter and retired him, Josh Hader pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and blew his first save of the season and Brent Suter pitched giving up a hit and two runs with one being earned and he didn’t record an out.  He also gave up a walk.   

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Francisco Lindor had a hit and an RBI and Alonso had two hits.  James McCann drew a walk, McNeil had two hits and two RBI and Tomas Nido had a hit.  Jose Peraza had a hit and an RBI, Nimmo and Alonso each hit a double and Peraza hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Nimmo was caught stealing. 

Luis Urias had two hits and an RBI with a walk, Christian Yelich had an RBI and Avisail Garcia had a hit.  Jace Peterson had a hit and an RBI, Tyrone Taylor drew a walk and Urias and Peterson each hit a homerun.  The brewers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Taylor had a stolen base, Urias committed an error and Yelich had an outfield assist. 

In the first Urias hit a solo homerun giving the Brewers a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Lindor hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Peterson hit a solo homerun giving the Brewers a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Peraza hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Yelich was hit by a pitch and a run scored to give the Brewers back the lead at 3-2.  In the bottom of the eighth McNeil hit a two-run walk-off single to give the Mets a 4-3 victory. 

New York Yankees fail to earn sweep over the Seattle Mariners

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 4-0.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well after some early struggles.  The offense managed one hit. 

Montgomery pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Montgomery took his fourth loss of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched to one batter and got him out, Wandy Peralta pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Logan Gilbert won his third game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up one hit and no runs.  He walked none and struck out eight.  Paul Sewald pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Kendall Graveman pitched a perfect inning. 

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit which was a double and that was it for the Yankees offense.  They didn’t have a walk and were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

Mitch Haniger had two hits and an RBI, Kyle Seager had a hit and an RBI and Luis Torrens had a hit and drew a walk.  Dylan Moore had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Seager, Moore and Haniger each hit a homerun and the Mariners were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Moore had a stolen base. 

In the first Seager hit a solo homerun giving the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the second Moore hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the eighth Haniger hit a solo homerun making it 4-0 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees failed to sweep and will head to Houston for the first of three on Friday night.  It is their first appearance in Houston since getting knocked out of the ALCS in 2019.

New York Yankees hang on for victory in Seattle

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night.  The game took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 5-4.  Nick Nelson started for the Yankees and couldn’t even make it out of the first, Luis Cessa and Domingo German pitched well out of the bullpen.  The Yankees had four batters with two hits each. 

Nelson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a run and three walks with a strikeout.  Cessa won his second game of the season pitching 3 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and he struck out one, German pitched three innings giving up two hits and three runs but no earned runs.  He walked none and struck out five.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning and struck out two and Chad Green picked up his third save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Yusei Kikuchi started for the Mariners and he pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Kikuchi lost his fourth game of the season.  JT Chargois pitched a perfect inning, Keynan Middleton pitched an inning giving up a hit and Drew Steckenrider pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one. 

DJ LeMahieu drew a walk, Aaron Judge had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had two hits, Luke Voit had two hits and an RBI and Gleyber Torres had a hit and two RBI.  Gio Urshela had a hit, Tim Locastro had two hits and Urshela, and Stanton each hit a double.  Locastro hit two doubles and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Urshela committed an error. 

Kyle Seager drew a walk, Ty France had a hit and Jake Fraley had a hit.  Tom Murphy had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Murphy hit a homerun and the Mariners were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the first Voit hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Torres hit a two-run single and the lead was pushed to 3-0.  In the bottom of the first Fraley had an RBI walk to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the second Judge hit a two-run homerun extending the lead to 5-1 Yankees.  In the bottom of the sixth Murphy hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 5-4 and that would be the final score of the game.  The Yankees will look for the three-game sweep on Thursday afternoon. 

New York Yankees romp the Seattle Mariners

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.  The game took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 12-1.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Luke Voit had five hits to pace the offense and DJ LeMahieu added three hits. 

Taillon pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Taillon earned his fourth win of the season.  Wandy Peralta pitched an inning with a walk and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts. 

Justus Sheffield started for the Mariners and he pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Sheffield took his eighth loss of the season.  Hector Santiago pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Will Vest pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three and Rafael Montero pitched two innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had three hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had two hits and an RBI and Gary Sanchez drew two walks.  Giancarlo Stanton had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Voit had five hits and three RBI and Gio Urshela had a hit.  Roughned Odor had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had two hits and Tim Locastro had a hit and drew a walk.  Judge and Voit each hit a double and Stanton and Odor each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Judge had a stolen base. 

J.P. Crawford drew a walk, Mitch Haniger had a hit and Kyle Seager had a hit.  Ty France had two hits and an RBI, Luis Torrens drew a walk and Dylan Moore drew a walk.  Shed Long Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  The Mariners were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Stanton hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the second Sanchez drew an RBI walk to extend the lead to 4-0.  Voit hit a two-run single and it was 6-0.  In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-0.  Judge hit an RBI double and it was 8-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Voit hit an RBI single extending the lead to 9-0.  In the bottom of the sixth the Mariners finally got on the board with a France RBI single.  In the eighth Odor hit a three-run homerun pushing the lead to 12-1.  12-1 would be the final score.  The Yankees have now won two in a row and will play game two of the three game series on Wednesday night.
