The New York Mets win third straight over the Philadelphia Philles



The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 9-4.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched well.  Michael Cuddyer had three hits and three RBI to lead the offense. 

Colon pitched seven innings giving up no runs and five hits.  He walked two and struck out eight and won his 11th game of the season.  Eric O'Flaherty pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk, Carlos Torres gave up a hit and an unearned run and Tyler Clippard saved his 19th game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and striking out two. 

Jerad Eickhoff pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out six and lost his first game of the season.  Jeanmar Gomez pitched a perfect inning and Hector Neris pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk.  Elvis Araujo didn't record an out and he gave up a hit and two runs with one of them being earned, Luis Garcia pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and Justin De Fratus pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and an RBI and Daniel murphy had a hit and two RBI.  Cuddyer had three hits and three RBI, Wilmer Flores had two hits and Michael Conforto had two hits and an RBI.  Juan Uribe had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Cuddyer, Conforto and Granderson each hit a double and Cespedes hit a triple.  Cuddyer hit a homerun and the Mets were 6-10 with runners in scoring positiona nd left six men on base.  Flores committed an error. 

Darnell Sweeney had a hit and drew a walk, Odubel Herrera had two hits and Ryan Howard had two hits.  Andres Blanco had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Cody Asche drew a walk and Cameron Rupp had two hits and two RBI.  Jeff Francoeur had a hit and an RBI, Blanco hit a double and Rupp hit a double.  The Phillies were 2-9 with runners in scoring positiona nd left nine men on base.  Herrera committed an error and Galvis committed two errors.

IN the first Murphy hit an RBI ground out to make it 1-0 Mets.  Cuddyer hit an RBI double in the first to extend the lead to 2-0 Mets.  Conforto hit an RBI single making it 3-0 Mets all in the first inning.  In the sixth Uribe hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0 Mets.  In the eighth Cuddyer hit a two run homerun and it was 6-0 Mets.  Blanco hit an RBI ground out in the eighth to cut the lead to 6-1.  Rupp hit a two run double and suddenly it was 6-3 Mets.  Francoeur hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-4 and that was as close as it would get.  In the ninth Granderson hit an RBI double, Cespedes hit an RBI triple and Murphy hit a sac fly to make it 9-4 which would be the final score.  The Mets have taken the first three of the four game series.  The final game will be played on Thursday night.

The New York Yankees lose the rubber game to the Houston Astros



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-2 Astros.  Michael Pineda made his return from the disabled list and looked good early on but then lost it in the fifth inning.  The Yankees offense was a Didi Gregorius two run homerun and that was it. 

Pineda pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Pineda lost his eighth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Branden Pinder pitched two innings giving up a walk and a strikeout and Adam Warren pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts.  Nick Goody pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Collin McHugh won his 14th game of the season pitching 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Tony Sipp pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout, Pat Neshek pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Will Harris pitched a scoreless inning. 

Carlos Beltran had a hit and drew two walks, Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk and Greg Bird drew a walk.  Gregorius had two hits and two RBI, Chris Young had a hit and Gregorius  hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jose Altuve had a hit and an RBI, Marwin Gonzalez had a hit and an RBI and Jed Lowrie drew a walk.  Colby Rasmus had a hit, Evan Gattis had two hits and two RBI and Carlos Gomez had a hit and drew a walk.  Luis Valbuena had two hits, Jake Marisnick had a hit and an RBI and Jason Castro had a hit and drew a walk.  Castro hit a double and Gattis hit two homeruns.  The Astros were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Altuve and Gomez each had a stolen base and Castro had a passed ball. 

In the first Gattis hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth the Astros broke open the game a little bit.  Marisnick hit an RBI single, Altuve hit a sac fly, Gonzalez hit an RBI single and a wild pitch made it 5-0 Astros.   In the seventh Gregorius hit a two run homerun to make it a 5-2 game.  Gattis hit a homerun in the eighth to make it 6-2 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees lost two out of three in this series and after starting their homestand 3-0 finished 5-5 which isn't very good.  They will be off on Thursday before traveling to Atlanta to take on the Braves Friday night in the start of a three game series. 

The New York Yankees get blown out at home to the Houston Astros



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 15-1.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and didn't have anything and Chris Capuano was bad out of the bullpen.  The Yankees offense did nothing, scoring their only run in the  ninth inning. 

Nova pitched four innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with four walks and a strikeout and took his sixth loss of the season.  Nick Rumbelow pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He struck out two, Capuano pitched two innings giving up three hits and six runs with four walks and a strikeout and Brendan Ryan pitched two innings giving up two hits.

Dallas Keuchel pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and nine strikeouts.  He won his 15th game of the season and Vincent Velasquez pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits, Greg Bird had an RBI and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  John Ryan Murphy had a hit, Beltran hit a double and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Ryan committed an error. 

Jose Altuve had a hit and drew a walk, Jake Marisnick had a hit and drew a walk and Carlos Correa drew two walks.  Colby Rasmus had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Evan Gattis had two hits, four RBI and drew two walks and Carlos Gomez had two hits and four RBI.  Luis Valbuena had a hit and two RBI, Marwin Gonzalez had three hits and two RBI, Jason Castro had three hits and drew a walk. 

Gomez, Valbuena, Rasmus and Castro each hit a double and Rasmus hit a triple, Gattis, Gonzalez and Gomez each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first Rasmus hit an RBI triple, Gomez hit an RBI double and Valbuena hit a two run double.  Gonzalez added an RBI single and it was 5-0 before the Yankees even batted.  In the fifth the Astros added four more runs.  Gattis hit a two run homerun, Gonzalez hit a solo homerun and Lowrie reached on an error and a run scored to make it 9-0 Astros.  In the seventh Rasmus earned an RBI walk, Gattis hit a two run single and Gomez hit a three run homerun to make it 15-0 Astros.  The Yankees scored their only run in the ninth inning on a Bird RBI groundout.  The Yankees offense hasn't been doing anything lately and this was a game where the pitching was also bad.  The two teams will play game three of their three game series on Wednesday afternoon which will also be the rubber game.

The New York Mets roll over the Philadelphia Phillies in David Wrights return



The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 16-7 Mets.  Jacob deGrom started for the MEts and he didn't pitch well at all, the bullpen was good.  The offense produced eight homeruns which is a franchise record. 

deGrom pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and seven runs with six of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out three.  Sean Gilmartin picked up his third win of the season pitching 3 1/3 innings and giving up three hits and striking out four, Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Eric O'Flaherty pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Carlos Torres pitched a scoreless inning giving up a walk. 

Adam Morgan pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with three strikeouts.  Hector Neris lost his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up three htis and four runs with three strikeouts, Justin De Fratus pitched two innings and gave up seven hits and five runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Adam Loewen pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Juan Lagares had two hits and two RBI, Daniel Murphy had three hits and two RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and two RBI.  Wright had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had three hits and five RBI and Travis d'Arnaud had three hits and three RBI.  Michael Cuddyer had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Gilmartin had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Cuddyer hit two doubles, Murphy hit two doubles and Flores, d'Arnaud and Conforto each hit a double.  Wright, Lagares, d'Arnaud, Cuddyer, Murphy and Cespedes each hit a homerun and Flores hit two homeruns.  The Mets were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Murphy committed an error and Wright committed two errors.  Cuddyer had an outfield assist. 

Cesar Hernandez drew two walks, Freddy Galvis had three hits and Odubel Herrera had a hit.  Ryan Howard had two hits and three RBI, Andres Blanco had a hit and drew a walk and Cody Asche had a hit.  Dominic Brown had two hits and three RBI, Cameron Rupp had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Asche hit a double.  Howerd, Rupp and Brown each hit a homerun and the Phillies were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

The Mets were losing this game 7-1 and roared back.  The Phillies scored three in the first, one in the second and three in the third to take the lead.  The Mets scored a single run in the second and the third but then scored three in the fourth, four in the fifth and four in the sixth.  In the fourth Flores hit a two run homerun to get the Mets to 7-4, d'Arnaud hit a solo homerun to make it 7-5 and Flores hit a three run homerun to give the Mets the 8-7 lead which they wouldn't give up.  In the fifth Cuddyer hit a solo homerun and in the sixth Murphy hit a two run  homerun to make it 11-7.  d'Arnaud hit a two run double to push the lead to 13-7 and in the seventh Lagares hit an RBI single.  It was 14-7 in the ninth when Cespedes hit a two run homerun to cap the scoring at 16-7.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.   

The New York Yankees win a nail biter over the Houston Astros


 
The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 1-0 Yankees.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and pitched great.  The Yankees offense was pretty much Brian McCann who led them with three hits. 

Eovaldi pitched eight innings giving up no runs on four hits.  He walked three and struck out seven.  Andrew Miller picked up his second win of the season pitching a scoreless inning and giving up a hit and striking out two batters. 

Scott Feldman also pitched great for Houston.  He kept matching zeroes with Eovaldi.  He pitched eight innings giving up six hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Oliver Perez took his second loss of the season not recording an out and giving up a run and three walks.  Chad Qualls only faced one batter and retired him but that was the walk-off sac fly. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Alex Rodriguez was intentionally walked and McCann had three hits and drew a walk.  Carlos Beltran had a hit and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Stephen Drew had a hit.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and Headley committed an error. 

Jose Altuve drew a walk, Carlos Correa had two hits and Colby Rasmus drew a walk.  Evan Gattis had two hits, Luis Valbuena had a hit and drew a walk and the Astros were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Marisnick was caught stealing and Gomez had an outfield assist. 

The only run of the game came in the bottom of the ninth.  Perez walked Gardner, a passed ball moved Gardner to second.  Rodriguez was intentionally walked and McCann walked.  Qualls came in with the bases loaded and no outs and gave up the walk-off sac fly to Beltran and the Yankees won 1-0.  The Yankees and Astros will play game two of three on Tuesday night.  The Yankees and Blue Jays are tied for the AL East lead with the same exact record and will play seven more times this season.

The New York Yankees lose to the Cleveland Indians on Andy Pettitte Day



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cleveland Indians on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3 Cleveland.  CC Sabathia started but was taken out in the second inning with a knee injury.  The extent of the injury is unknown at this time but it looks like he will be heading to the disabled list.  The Yankees bullpen did a pretty good job of keeping them in the game.  The offense didn't do much of anything as they continued to struggle with Cleveland pitching. 

Sabathia pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and a strikeout.  Nick Rumbelow pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk, Brandon Pinder pitched two innings giving up two hits and three walks with two strikeouts and Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Dellin Betances lost his third game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run witha  walk and he struck out two, Justin Wilson pitching an inning walking a batter. 

Trevor Bauer pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with only one of them being earned.  He walked six and struck out seven.  Kyle Crockett pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Brian Shaw pitched an inning giving up two hits and Cody Allen saved his 26th game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and striking out three. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits, Brett Gardner drew three walks and Carlos Beltran had a hit and two RBI.  Greg Bird had a hit, Chase Headley had a hit and Didi Gregorius drew a walk.  Stephen Drew had two walks, Ellsbury hit a double and Beltran hit a double.  the Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and Gardner had a stolen base.  Headley committed an error and Gardner had an outfield assist. 

Francisco Lindor had three hits and an RBI, Mike Aviles had a hit and Michael Brantley had a hit and drew a walk.  Carlos Santana had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Ryan Raburn had a hit and drew a walk and Jeff Kipnis drew two walks.  Yan Gomes drew two walks, Abraham Almonte had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Giovanny Urshela had a hit and drew two walks.  Aviles hit a double and Almonte hit a triple.  Santana and Lindor hit a homerun and the Indians were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Ramirez was caught stealing and Bauer and Gomes each committed an error. 

In the first Santana hit a two run homerun to give the Indians a 2-0 lead.  In the third a steal and an error gave the Yankees a run and made it a 2-1 game.  In the fifth Almonte drew an RBI walk to push the score to 3-1 Indians.  The Yankees tied the score on a Beltran two run double in the seventh.  The Indians took back the lead in the eighth on a Lindor solo homerun to make it 4-3 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees lost three out of four in the series and will begin a three game series with the Houston Astros on Monday night.   

The New York Mets sweep the Colorado Rockies in Colorado



The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 5-1 Mets.  Logan Verrett started for the Mets in place of Matt Harvey who was skipping a turn and he pitched great.  Daniel Murphy had two hits and Michael Conforto had three hits to lead the offense. 

Verrett pitched eight innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  He won his first game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

David Hale lost his fifth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  he walked two and struck out nine.  Simon Castro pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one and Jairo Diaz pitched an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout. 

Curtis Granderson ahd a hit and drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk and Murphy had two hits and an RBI.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI, Conforto had three hits and Anthony Recker had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Murphy hit a double, Recker and Conforto each hit a double as well.  The Mets were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Granderson had a stolen base and Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Charlie Blackmon had a hit, D.J. LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk and Carlos Gonzalez had a hit and an RBI.  Nolan Arenado had a hit, Dustin Garneua drew a walk and Gonzalez hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gonzalez committed an error

In the first Murphy hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second a wild pitch made it 2-0 Mets.  Another wild pitch made it 3-0 and in the third a Flores RBI single made it a 4-0 game.  Recker hit an RBI double in the third to increase the lead to 5-0.  The Rockies got their only run in the fourth on a Gonzalez solo homerun.  The Mets took the three games and won the games by scoring 33 three runs.  The Mets will head to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies beginning on Monday night.   

The New York Mets offense erupts in win over the Colorado Rockies



The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 14-9 Mets.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and didn't pitch well.  Yoenis Cespedes had a career night and led the offense with five hits and seven RBI. 

Colon pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs.  He walked two and struck out one.  Sean Gilmartin won his second game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts, Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Tyler Clippard pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jon Gray pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and seven runs with a walk.  Christian Bergman pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Christian Friedrich pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and he lost his fourth game of the season.  Gonzalez Germen pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Tom Kahnle pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Rafael Betancourt pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run.

Charlie Blackmon had two hits and drew a walk, Carlos Gonzalez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Nolan Arenado had three hits and four RBI.  Ben Paulsen had a hit and an RBI, D.J. LeMahieu had two hits and two RBI and Nick Hundley had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Arenado hit two doubles, Blackmon and Hundley also hit a double and Hundley hit a triple.  Gonzalez, Paulsen and Arenado each hit a homerun and the Rockies were 2-13 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Blackmon had two stolen bases and was picked off. 

In the first Duda hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  The Rockies answered back in the first with a Gonzalez solo homerun to tie the game.  In the second the Mets broke it open with six runs to take a 7-1 lead.  Cespedes grand slam was the big blow.  Paulsen hit a solo homerun and Arenado hit an RBI double to make it 7-3 in the third.  LeMahieu hit an RBI single to make it 7-4 in the third inning.  In the fourth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 8-4 Mets.  Arenado hit a three run homerun in the fourth to make it 8-7.  Hundley hit an RBI triple to tie the game at eight in the fifth.  Cespedes hit a two run homerun in the sixth to make it 10-8.  In the seventh d'Arnaud hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 11-8.  Conforto hit a solo homerun in the seventh to make it 12-8.   LeMahieu hit an RBI ground out in the seventh to make it a 12-9 game and then the Mets scored a couple of more runs to make it 14-9 which would be the final score. 

The New York Yankees get back on track in win over the Cleveland Indians



The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-2 Yankees.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and pitched pretty well even without his best stuff.  The bullpen was good and Brett Gardner and Brian McCann each hit a homerun and every starter had at least one hit. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up one run on three hits.  He walked four and struck out six and earned his first major league win.  Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Delllin Betances pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Danny Salazar pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He didn't walk a batter and he struck out six and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Austin Adams pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out one, Ryan Webb pitched an inning giving up two hits and striking out two and Jeff Manship pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits and an RBI, Gardner had a hit and two RBI and Carlos Beltran had a hit and an RBI.  McCann had two hits and an RBI, Greg Bird had a hit and Chase Headley had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had two hits, Stephen Drew had two hits and John Ryan Murphy had a hit and an RBI.  Gregorius hit two doubles, Gardner and McCann each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jeff Kipnis drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had three hits and an RBI and Carlos Santana drew a walk.  Lonnie Chisenhall had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Abraham Almonte drew a walk and Roberto Perez had a hit.  Lindor hit a double, Lindor hit a homerun and the Indians were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Salazar and Chisenhall each committed an error and Almonte had an outfield assist. 

Lindor hit a solo homerun in the first to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Gardner hit a two run homerun to make it 2-1 Yankees and McCann hit a solo homerun to make it a 3-1 game.  In the second Ellsbury reached on a force attempt and an error to make it 4-1.  Beltran hit a sac fly to make it a 5-1 game in the second inning.  In the eighth Chisenhall hit an RBI single to make it 5-2 and in the bottom of the eighth Murphy hit a sac fly to make it 6-2 and that was the final score in the game.  The rubber game of the series will be played on Sunday afternoon which is also Andy Pettitte day.  The Yankees honored Jorge Posada before this game, retiring his number and putting a plaque in monument park.
