New York Yankees outlast Cleveland Indians in wild and crazy game

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 10-9.  It was a wild and crazy game and the win gave the Yankees the series and now they move on to the ALDS in San Diego.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch great but was also affected by a long rain delay to start the game and then starting the game and stopping in the first inning for another rain delay.  The offense was led by Gio Urshela who had a couple of hits and four RBI. 

Tanaka pitched four innings giving up five hits and six runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three strikeouts, Zack Britton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two runs and two walks with a strikeout and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks.  Aroldis Chapman earned his first win of the postseason pitching two innings and giving up a hit and he struck out four. 

Carlos Carrasco pitched three innings giving up two hits and four runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  James Karinchak pitched getting no outs and giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Phil Maton pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Triston McKenzie pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Nick Wittgren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two walks and he struck out three, Brad Hand lost his first game of the postseason and first blown save.  He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Cal Quantrill pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew two walks and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk.  Luke Voit had a hit and drew two walks, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Urshela had two hits and four RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew two walks, Brett Gardner drew two walks and Gary Sanchez had a hit and three RBI.  Voit hit a double, Hicks hit a triple and Stanton, Urshela and Sanchez each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Francisco Lindor had a hit and drew a walk, Cesar Hernandez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Ramirez had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Carlos Santana drew a walk, Franmil Reyes drew two walks and Josh Naylor had a hit and two RBI.  Jordan Luplow had a hit and two RBI, Roberto Perez had two hits and an RBI and Delino DeShields had a hit and drew a walk.  Hernandez, Naylor, Lindor and Luplow each hit a double.  Ramirez hit two doubles and the Indians were 6-15 with runners in scoring position and left 8 men on base.  Ramirez and DeShields each committed an error. 

In the first Ramirez hit an RBI double, Naylor hit a two-run double and Perez hit an RBI single to give the Indians a 4-0 lead.  In the second Stanton hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the fourth Urshela hit a grand slam to make it a 5-4 game in favor of the Yankees.  In the fifth Stanton hit a sac fly extending the lead to 6-4.  In the bottom of the fifth Ramirez hit a two-run double to tie the game at six.  In the sixth Sanchez hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees back the lead at 8-6.  In the bottom of the seventh Luplow hit a two-run double to tie the score at eight.  In the bottom of the eighth Hernandez hit an RBI single to give the Indians a 9-8 lead.  In the ninth Sanchez hit a sac fly to tie the game at nine and LeMahieu hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 10-9 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees won the series and will head to San Diego to start the ALDS on Monday.   

New York Yankees take Game 1 in dominating fashion from the Cleveland Indians

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 12-3.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees offense was led by Gleyber Torres who had four hits and Brett Gardner who had three hits. 

Cole pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and 13 strikeouts.  Cole earned his first win of the postseason.  Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Shane Bieber pitched for the Indians and he took his first loss of the postseason.  He pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Phil Maton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up no hits or runs with a  strikeout, Adam Cimber pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a  walk and Cam Hill pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Oliver Perez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI and Aaron Hicks drew two walks.  Luke Voit had two hits and an RBI, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI, Gio Urshela had a hit and an RBI and Torres had four hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Gardner had three hits and three RBI and Kyle Higashioka had a hit.  Voit and Gardner each hit a double.  Judge, Torres, Gardner and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, Jose Ramirez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Josh Naylor had four hits and an RBI.  Tyler Naquin had a hit and an RBI, Delino DeShields had a hit and Naylor hit two doubles.  Ramirez also hit a double and Naylor hit a homerun.  The Indians were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Judge hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Voit hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the third Ramirez hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Gardner hit an RBI double to make it a 4-1 game.  LeMahieu hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 5-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Naylor cut the lead to 5-2 with a solo homerun.  In the fifth Torres hit a two-run homerun and the lead was 7-2.  Urshela hit a sac fly in the seventh to make it 8-2 and then Torres hit an RBI single and Gardner hit a two-run homerun and it was 11-2.  The Yankees added another run in the ninth on a Stanton solo homerun making it 12-2.  Naquin hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to cut the lead to 12-3 and that was the final score.

New York Yankees win streak hits nine with win over the Red Sox

 The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway

Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 6-5 in 12 innings.  Jordan Montgomery started for 

the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well although he wasn't helped by his defense.  The Yankees bullpen 

pitched well and Aaron Hicks and Gary Sanchez led the offense with two hits each.  

Montgomery pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  

Luis Cessa pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and a strikeout, Adam 

Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with two 

strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Aroldis Chapman 

pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Jonathan Loaisiga won his third game of 

the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and an unearned run.  He walked one and struck out 

one.  

Martin Perez started for the Red Sox and he pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs with a

Darwinzon Hernandez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and a 

strikeout, Marcus Walden pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Ryan Brasier pitched an inning

giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Matt Barnes pitched an inning giving up a  hit and a run

with a strikeout and Ryan Weber pitched three innings giving up three hits and two unearned runs

with three strikeouts.  Weber took his third loss of the season.  

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and Giancarlo Stanton had a 

hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Hicks had

two hits.  Gio Urshela had a hit and drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and three RBI and Clint Frazier

had a hit.  Sanchez, Stanton and LeMahieu each hit a double and Sanchez hit a homerun.  The Yankees 

were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Montgomery, Torres and Wade

each committed an error.  

Alex Verdugo had a hit, Tzu-Wei Lin drew a walk and Rafael Devers drew a walk.  Xander Bogaerts 

had two hits and drew a walk, Christian Vazquez had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Jackie 

Bradley Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  Christian Arroyo had three hits and four RBI, Vazquez hit two 

doubles and Arroyo hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 3-22 with runners in scoring position and left 

15 men on base.  Vazquez had two stolen bases, Bradley Jr. and Martinez each stole a base and 

Bogaerts had two stolen bases.  

In the fourth Arroyo hit a three-run homerun to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead.  In the fifth Vazquez hit an 

RBI double to push the lead to 4-0.  In the seventh Sanchez hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 4-2.

In the eighth Stanton hit an RBI double to make it a 4-3 game and in the ninth Sanchez hit a solo 

homerun tying the game at four.  In the 11th Voit hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 5-4 lead but in 

the bottom of the 11th Arroyo hit an RBI single to tie the game at five.  In the 12th LeMahieu hit an RBI

double to give the Yankees a 6-5 lead and that would be the final score. The two teams will play game

two of three on Saturday night.

Yankees win on a walk-off in ten innings over the Orioles

 The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.  The game took place at 

Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1 in ten innings.  Jordan Montgomery

started for the Yankees and he pitched great and the bullpen was excellent.  The Yankees offense only 

managed five hits.  

Montgomery pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and an unearned run.  He walked one and struck

out nine.  Chad Green pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a

hit and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder won his third 

game of the season pitching a perfect inning.  

Dean Kremer pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run.  He walked three and struck out

seven.  Dillon Tate pitched 2/3 of inning, Tanner Scott pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up a walk 

and Cesar Valdez pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Hunter Harvey pitched

1/3 of an inning giving up an unearned run.  

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Luke Voit had an RBI and Aaron Hicks drew two walks.  Clint Frazier had a 

hit and an RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew

a walk, Mike Ford drew a walk and LeMahieu and Sanchez each hit a double.  Frazier hit a triple and 

the Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Montgomery, Gardner

and LeMahieu each committed an error.  

Hanser Alberto had a hit, Jose Iglesias had a hit and Ryan Mountcastle had two hits, an RBI and drew

a walk.  Mountcastle hit a double and the Orioles were 1-8 with runners in scoring and left seven men

on base.  

In the first Frazier hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Mountcastle hit an RBI 

single to tie the game at one.  In the tenth Voit hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to give the Yankees a 2-1

victory.  

New York Yankees sweep the doubleheader over the Baltimore Orioles

 The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee

Stadium in the Bronx, New York and was game two of a doubleheader.  The final score was 10-1.  

Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen also pitched well.  Luke Voit 

led the offense with three hits and six RBI.  

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run.  He struck out five and won his second game 

of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched an inning giving up a hit and Brooks Kriske pitched an inning giving 

up a walk and he struck out two.  

Keegan Akin started for the Orioles and he pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and four runs 

with a walk and a strikeout.  Travis Lakins Sr. pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk

with a strikeout, Asher Wojciechowski pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with three

walks and a strikeout and Carson Fulmer pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.  

DJ LeMahieu had two hits and  and drew a walk, Voit had three hits and six RBI and Aaron Hicks had 

a hit.  Clint Frazier had an RBI and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had two hits and an RBI and Miguel

Andujar had a hit and two RBI.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Brett Gardner drew two walks and Thairo

Estrada drew a walk.  Andujar, LeMahieu and Hicks each hit a double and Voit hit two homeruns.  

The Yankees were 4-18 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ford committed

an error.

Cedric Mullins had a hit, D.J. Stewart had two hits and an RBI and Rio Ruiz had a hit and drew a 

walk.  Stewart hit a double and he also hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-4 with runners in scoring

position and left four men on base.  Mullins was caught stealing.  

In the first Stewart hit a solo homerun giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Frazier

reached on a fielder's choice and a run scored tying the game at one.  Torres hit an RBI single, Andujar

hit a two-run double and it was 4-1 Yankees.  In the fourth Voit hit a three-run homerun and the 

Yankees lead was stretched to 7-1.  In the fifth Voit hit another three-run homerun and the lead was 

10-1 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday.

New York Yankees take game one of a doubleheader in shutout over the Orioles

 The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.  The game took place at Yankee 

Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-0 in seven innings as it was game one of a 

doubleheader.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees  and he pitched great.  The Yankees offense was led by

Mike Tauchman who had three hits and Brett Gardner who had two hits and two RBI.  

Cole won his fifth game of the season pitching seven shutout innings and giving up two hits and a walk.  

He also struck out nine batters.  

Alex Cobb pitched four innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  

Cobb took his fourth loss of the season.  Thomas Eshelman pitched two innings giving up two hits and 

a run with two walks and two strikeouts.  

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Luke Voit had a hit and Gardner had two hits, two RBI and drew a 

walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Tauchman had three

hits and an RBI.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit and two RBI, Torres hit a double and LeMahieu, Gardner

and Higashioka each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left 

four men on base.  Tauchman had a stolen base and Gardner was caught stealing twice.  LeMahieu 

committed an error.

Ryan Mountcastle drew a walk, Renato Nunez had a hit and Hanser Alberto had a hit.  The Orioles were

0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Severino had a passed ball.  

In the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun and Gardner hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0

lead.  In the second Higashioka hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 5-0 and in the sixth 

Tauchman hit an RBI single to make it 6-0 which would be the final score.

New York Yankees roar back to beat the Mets in extra innings

 The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Sunday.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-7 in extra innings in game one of the doubleheader.  Mike King started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Luke Voit led the offense with two hits and two RBI. 

King pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Brooks Kriske pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and five runs with three walks and four strikeouts, Ben Heller pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with four strikeouts and Chad Green picked up his third win of the season pitching an inning with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Rick Porcello pitched five innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Jared Hughes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and four unearned runs with a walk and Edwin Diaz lost his first game of the season and blew his fourth save of the season.  He pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one being earned.  He walked one and struck out none.

Davis had a hit.  Dom Smith had a hit and drew a walk, Robinson Cano had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had a hit and two RBI.  Jeff McNeil had a hit, Wilson Ramos had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Andres Gimenez drew two walks.  Smith and Conforto each hit a double and Cano hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Gimenez committed an error. 

In the first Tauchman hit an RBI ground out to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Alonso hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Ramos hit an RBI single and it was 2-1 Mets.  In the fourth Ford hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Cano hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 4-2 lead.  In the sixth Conforto hit a two-run double to extend the Mets lead to 6-2.  Alonso was hit by a pitch and it was 7-2 Mets.  In the bottom of the seventh Voit hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 7-4.  A wild pitch made it 7-5 and Hicks hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at seven.  In the eighth Urshela hit a walk-off single to give the Yankees a 8-7 victory.

New York Yankees walk-off with a win on a wild pitch over the New York Mets

The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Saturday.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  The Yankees offense only managed five hits. 

Happ pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out five.  Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman earned his first win of the season pitching a perfect inning. 

Robert Gsellman pitched four innings giving up four hits and a run with four strikeouts.  Steven Matz pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Jared Hughes pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Brad Brach pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three walks and he struck out one batter.  Jeurys Familia pitched to one batter and got him out, Justin Wilson pitched a perfect inning and Dellin Betances lost his first game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.

Pete Alonso had a hit, Wilson Ramos had two hits and an RBI and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Ramos hit a homerun, Rosario was caught stealing and Gsellman committed an error.  Hamilton had an outfield assist. 

In the first Voit hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Ramos hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the ninth a wild pitch gave the Yankees a 2-1 walk-off win. 

The Mets won two games on Friday and the Yankees this one and now they have another doubleheader on Sunday.

New York Mets blow lead late then regain it and hold on to defeat the Miami Marlins

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched great.  The Mets bullpen didn’t pitch as well and Robinson Cano had three hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and 14 strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs, Edwin Diaz pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout and Brad Brach pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and a strikeout and he won his first game of the season. 

Elieser Hernandez pitched four innings giving up seven hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Brandon Leibrandt pitched an inning with a walk, Jesus Tinoco pitched two innings giving up two walks and Nick Vincent pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run and he took his second loss of the season.

Jon Berti had a hit, Matt Joyce had a hit and drew a walk and Jesus Aguilar had a hit and an RBI.  Corey Dickerson had two RBI and drew a walk, Brian Anderson had an RBI and drew two walks and Lewin Diaz had a hit.  Jorge Alfaro had a hit, Jonathan Villar had a hit and drew a walk and Joyce hit a double.  The Marlins were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Villar was caught stealing and Alfaro had a passed ball. 

In the first Cano hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Conforto hit a solo homerun making it 2-0.  In the fourth Dickerson hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Nimmo hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-1.  Smith hit an RBI groundout to make it 4-1.  In the eighth Aguilar hit an RBI single and Dickerson drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 4-3.  Anderson drew an RBI walk and the game was tied at four.  In the bottom of the eighth Ramos hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 5-4 lead and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees lose Game two of doubleheader in heartbreak fashion

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday in Game two of their doubleheader.  The game took place at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 2-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched great, Chad Green gave up the game in his one inning.  The Yankees offense managed just five hits. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up three hits and no runs or walks with four strikeouts.  Green took his first loss of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts. 

Max Fried won his fifth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Marc Melancon pitched an inning giving up a hit and he saved his fifth game of the season. 

Aaron Judge had a hit, Gio Urshela drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had two hits.  Erik Kratz had a hit, Gary Sanchez had a hit and Tyler Wade had an RBI.  Kratz hit a double and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.

In the fifth Wade had a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Freeman hit a two-run homerun giving the Braves a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees are off on Thursday and then will begin a five game series with the Mets on Friday with a doubleheader.

New York Yankees lose game one

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves in Game One of their doubleheader on Wednesday.  The game took place at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 5-1.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The Yankees offense managed only two hits. 

Cole pitched five innings giving up five hits and five runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  He took his first loss of the season and first loss since May of last year which was a span of 28 straight starts without a loss.  Luis Cessa pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Ian Anderson made his major league debut for the Braves and pitched great.  He pitched six innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and six strikeouts.  Anderson won his first game of the season.  Shane Greene pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI, Mike Ford drew a walk and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Tyler Wade drew a walk, Voit hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Wade had a stolen base.

New York Mets get shutout in Game Two of Doubleheader to Miami

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins in Game two of their doubleheader on Tuesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Seth Lugo made the start for the Mets and pitched great.  The bullpen did not do so well and the offense managed four hits. 

Lugo pitched three perfect innings with five strikeouts.  Jared Huges took his first loss of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up two hits and two runs with a walk, Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a run and a walk. 

Trevor Rogers pitched four innings giving up a hit and five walks with six strikeouts.  Josh A. Smith pitched two innings giving up three hits and he struck out one and won his first game of the season and Nick Vincent pitched an inning and earned his second save of the season. 

J.D. Davis had a hit and drew a walk, Dom Smith had a hit and drew two walks and Jeff McNeil drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Robinson Cano had a hit and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Jon Berti drew two walks, Corey Dickerson had a hit and Brian Anderson had a hit and two RBI.  Anderson hit a double and the Marlins were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Berti had three stolen bases. 

In the fourth Anderson hit a two-run double to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Berti stole home to make it 3-0 and that would be the final score.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins in Game 1 of their doubleheader on Tuesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Rick Porcello started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well, Corey Oswalt pitched well in relief.  J.D. Davis and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Porcello lost his fourth game of the season pitching three innings and giving up five hits and four runs.  He walked none and struck out four.  Oswalt pitched four innings giving up a hit and no runs with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Daniel Castano pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and no runs.  He walked three and struck out one.  Richard Bleier won his first game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning.  Brad Boxberger pitched an inning giving up a hit and Brandon Kintzler pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Davis had two hits and Conforto had two hits.  Pete Alonso drew a walk, Dom Smith had a hit and Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk.  Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew a walk, Davis and Nimmo each hit a double and the Mets were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Davis was picked off and Ramos committed an error. 

Jonathan Villar drew a walk, Brian Anderson had two hits and Lewin Diaz had a hit and an RBI.  Lewis Brinson had two hits and an RBI, Miguel Rojas had a hit and two RBI and Anderson hit two doubles.  The Marlins were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Villar had a stolen base and Villar committed an error.  Castano had a pickoff. 

In the second Brinson hit an RBIsingle and Rojas hit a two-run single to give the Marlins a 3-0 lead.  In the third Diaz hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets lose on a walk-off to the Phillies

 The New York Mets  defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.  The game took place

at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 6-5.  Walker Lockett started 

for the Mets and he didn't pitch very well, the bullpen pitched well and Luis Guillorme led the offense

with three hits.  

Lockett pitched six innings giving up seven hits and five runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Dellin

Betances pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit 

and Seth Lugo took his second loss of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up three hits and 

a run with a strikeout.  

Spencer Howard pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and four runs with three being earned.  He 

walked two and struck out two.  Jose Alvarez pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Blake 

Parker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Adam Morgan pitched an inning 

giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Tommy Hunter pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and 

he struck out one and Hector Neris pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and 

two strikeouts.  Neris won his first game of the season and blew his second save.  

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk, Michael Conforto had a hit and drew two walks and 

Dom Smith had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Robinson Cano had two hits and two RBI, Wilson

Ramos had a hit and Andres Gimenez had a hit.  Guillorme had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, 

Amed Rosario had a hit and Guillorme hi a double.  Smith and Cano each hit a homerun and the Mets

were 2-16 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Gimenez and Hamilton each had 

a stolen base.  

Andrew McCutchen had two hits, Rhys Hoskins had a hit and drew a walk and Bryce Harper had a 

hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  JT Realmuto had a hit and three RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and 

Jean Segura had a hit and drew a walk.  Jay Bruce had a hit, Alec Bohm had a hit and an RBI and 

Roman Quinn had two hits and an RBI.  Gregorius, Bruce and Hoskins each hit a double.  Realmuto

hit a homerun and the Phillies were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  

Realmuto committed an error.  

In the first Smith hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Guillorme hit an 

RBI single making it 2-0.  In the bottom of the second Bohm hit an RBI single, Quinn hit an RBI single

and the game was tied at two.  In the third Smith hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 3-2 lead.  Cano

hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 4-2.  In the fifth Realmuto hit a three-run homerun giving the 

Phillies a 5-4 lead.  In the ninth Cano hit an RBI single to tie the game at five.  In the bottom of the

ninth Harper hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Phillies a 6-5 victory.  

New York Yankees rough up the Boston Red Sox again

 The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee

Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 11-5.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and 

he pitched ok.  Clint Frazier had three hits and five RBI to  lead the offense.  

Paxton pitched five innings giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out two and won 

his first game of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, 

Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up a hit and Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up three hits

and two runs with two strikeouts.  

Nathan Eovaldi lost his second game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings and giving up nine hits and 

eight runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Heath Hembree pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit

and he struck out one, Matt Barnes pitched an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two being 

earned and he walked one and struck out two.  Phillips Valdez pitched a perfect inning with two 

strikeouts.  

Tyler Wade had a hit and an RBI, Luke Voit had a hit and Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI.  Gleyber

Torres had two hits, Mike Tauchman had a hit and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit and two

Kevin Pillar had a hit and an RBI, Rafael Devers had two hits and J.D. Martinez had two hits and two

RBI.  Xander Bogaerts had a hit and an RBI, Alex Verdugo had two hits and an RBI and Michael 

Chavis had a hit.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had two hits and Jose Peraza drew a walk.  Devers hit a double, 

Pillar hit a triple and Bogaerts and Verdugo each hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 1-4 with runners

in scoring position and left six men on base.  Verdugo committed an error.  

In the first Urshela hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Martinez hit a

two-run single to tie the game and Bogaerts hit a solo homerun to give the Red Sox a 3-2 lead.  In the 

fourth Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees back the lead at 4-3.  In the sixth Frazier 

hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 7-3 and Wade hit an RBI double making it 8-3.  In the 

seventh Frazier hit a two-run single and the score was 10-3.  Gardner hit a sac fly extending the lead to 

11-3.  In the ninth Verdugo hit a solo homerun and Pillar hit an RBI triple making it 11-5.  


New York Yankees pound the Boston Red Sox

 The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee

Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-3.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and 

he pitched great.  Gleyber Torres had four hits and Mike Tauchman had three hits to lead the offense.  

Cole pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with no walks and eight strikeouts.  Cole won 

his fourth game of the season.  Jonathan Holder pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs 

with a walk, Adam Ottavino pitched to two batters and struck them both out and Ben Heller pitched an 

inning giving up a hit with two strikeouts.  

Colten Brewer pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and two 

strikeouts.  Austin Brice pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and three strikeouts, Ryan Brasier pitched

three innings giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout and Dylan Covey pitched two innings

giving up four hits and three runs with two strikeouts.  Brandon Workman pitched 2/3 of an inning

giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and Marcus Walden pitched to one batter and got him 

out.  

DJ LeMahieu had two hits, Luke Voit had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks drew a walk.  Gio 

Urshela had a hit and drew a walk, Torres had four hits and two RBI and Tyler Wade had a hit.  

Tauchman had three hits and four RBI, Gary Sanchez had a hit and two RBI and Clint Frazier had a hit

and two RBI and Brett Gardner drew two walks.  Torres, Tauchman and Frazier each hit a double.  

Sanchez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 8-18 with runners in scoring position and left nine men

on base.  Gardner had a stolen base.  

Alex Verdugo had a hit and two RBI, Rafael Devers had a hit and an RBI and Mitch Moreland had a hit.

Christian Vasquez had a hit, Kevin Pillar had a hit and drew a walk and Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and 

drew a walk.  Jonathan Arauz had a hit, Bradley Jr. hit a double and Verdugo hit a homerun.  The Red 

Sox were 2-6 with five runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Pillar was caught stealing

and Verdugo committed an error.  

In the third Torres hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Verdugo hit a solo

homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Tauchman hit an RBI double and Sanchez hit a two-run 

double and the lead was 5-1.  In the seventh Tauchman hit an RBI single and Frazier hit a two-run 

double to extend the lead to 8-1.  In the eighth Verdugo hit an RBI groundout cutting the lead 8-2.  

Devers hit an RBI single and it was 8-3.  In the eighth Tauchman hit a two-run single making it 10-3.  

The final score was 10-3, the two teams will play game two of four on Saturday night.

New York Mets ride Nido career game for big win over the Nationals

The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-2.  David Peterson started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets bullpen also pitched well and Tomas Nido led the offense with a pair of homeruns. 

Peterson won his third game of the season pitching five innings and giving up a hit and an unearned run.  He walked two and struck out three.  Jared Huges pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout. 

Austin Voth lost his second game of the season for the Nationals.  He pitched four innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Seth Romero pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and four runs with three walks and four strikeouts, Wander Suero pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Javy Guerra pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew two walks, Billy Hamilton had a hit and drew a walk and Michael Conforto had two hits and drew a walk.  Pete Alonso had two hits and an RBI, Dom Smith had two hits and an RBI and Andres Gimenez had a hit and drew a walk.  Nido had two hits and six RBI, Luis Guillorme had two hits, Nimmo and Smith each hit a double and Smith hit a homerun.  Nido hit two homeruns and the Mets were 3-16 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Gimenez had a stolen base, Nido and Davis each committed an error. 

Trea Turner drew two walks, Adam Eaton had two hits and Starlin Castro drew a walk.  Juan Soto had a hit and an RBI, Howie Kendrick had an RBI and Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk.  Yan Gomes had a hit, Michael Taylor had a hit and Soto hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

In the first Kendrick hit an RBI ground out to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Smith hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the fourth Nido hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 3-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Nido hit a grand slam to push the Mets lead to 7-1.  In the sixth Soto hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 7-2 and in the eighth Alonso hit an RBI single to make it 8-2 and that would be the final score.  The Mets will begin a three-game series with the Phillies in Philadelphia on Friday night.

New York Mets outslug the Washington Nationals

 The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 11-6.  Robert Gsellman started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch great.  The bullpen pitched pretty well and Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Gsellman pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with a strikeout.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit, Jeurys Familia won his first game of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and Drew Smith pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Anibal Sanchez pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  He took his third loss of the season.  Sam Freeman pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk, Kyle Finnegan pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out two and Ryne Harper pitched an inning giving up four hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Erick Fedde pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout.

In the first Soto hit a three-run homerun to give the Nationals a 3-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Nimmo hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-1.  Alonso hit an RBI double and Smith hit an RBI double to tie the game at three.  Gimenez hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of the third Ramos hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-3.  In the sixth Soto hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-4.  In the bottom of the sixth Conforto hit a two-run double and it was 7-4.  Alonso hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 9-4.  Smith hit a solo homerun and it was 10-4.  In the eighth Castro hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 10-5.  In the bottom of the eighth Smith hit an RBI ground out to make it 11-5 and in the ninth Suzuki hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 11-6 which would be the final score.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Rick Porcello started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  J.D. Davis and Luis Guillorme led the offense with two hits each. 

Porcello lost his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up eight hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out five.  Jared Hughes pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Max Scherzer won his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and a run.  He walked two and struck out seven.  Javy Guerra pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Tanner Rainey pitched 1 2/3 of an inning with two strikeouts and Daniel Hudson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

New York Yankees earn sweep over the Atlanta Braves

The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-3.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched ok and the bullpen was very good.  DJ LeMahieu led the offense with four hits and Clint Frazier added three hits. 

Tanaka pitched four innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Jonathan Loaisiga won his second game of the season pitching two innings and giving up three hits and he struck out three, Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Luis Avilan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Adam Ottavino pitched to one batter and struck him out, Jonathan Holder pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Zack Britton saved his seventh game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning with a walk. 

Huascar Ynoa started for the Braves and he pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with three walks.  Tyler Matzek lost his first game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings and giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Josh Tomlin pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Darren O’Day pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Will Smith pitched a perfect inning, A.J. Minter pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Shane Greene pitched an inning with a walk.

In the second Camargo hit a two-run homerun giving the Braves a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Sanchez and Frazier hit back-to-back homeruns to tie the game at two.  In the fourth Hicks hit an RBI double and Torres hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth LeMahieu hit an RBI single and Voit hit an RBI single to push the lead to 6-2.  In the ninth d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-3 but that would be the final score.  The Yankees swept the brief two-game series and will be off on Thursday.  They will begin a four-game series with their rival Boston Red Sox on Friday night at Yankee Stadium.

The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-6.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Mike Ford led the offense with a couple of hits and three RBI. 

Montgomery pitched six innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Montgomery won his second game of the season.  David Hale pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Chad Green pitched to two batters getting them both out and he struck out one.  Zack Britton saved his sixth game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Touki Toussaint pitched four innings for the Braves and he gave up four hits and six runs with five being earned.  He walked one and struck out three.  Bryse Wilson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with four walks and two strikeouts, Luke Jackson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Josh Tomlin pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Mike Tauchman drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Luke Voit had a hit and three RBI and Gleyber Torres drew two walks.  Ford had two hits and three RBI, he had two doubles and Voit and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  LeMahieu and Torres each committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Dansby Swanson had an RBI, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and Freddie Freeman had a hit and drew a walk.  Marcell Ozuna had two hits and three RBI, Johan Camargo had a hit and an RBI and Austin Riley had a hit.  Tyler Flowers had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Ozuna, Camargo and Flowers each hit a double.  Ozuna hit a homerun and the Braves were 2-15 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Toussaint and Riley each committed an error. 

In the first Voit hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the third Voit lined out and a run scored on an error to make it 4-0.  Ford hit a two-run double and the lead was pushed to 6-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 7-0.  Ford grounded into a double play and it was an 8-0 game.  In the sixth Ozuna hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 8-3.  In the seventh Swanson reached on a fielder’s choice and an error to make it 8-4.  In the seventh Ford hit an RBI double to make it 9-4 and in the eighth Camargo hit an RBI double to cut the deficit to 9-5.  Flowers hit an RBI double and it was 9-6.  That was as close as it got as the game ended with a 9-6 Yankees victory.  The two teams will play game two of two on Wednesday night.

New York Mets double up the Miami Marlins

 The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at

Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and 

pitched ok and the bullpen was good. Andres Gimenez led the offense with three hits.  

deGrom pitched five innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and six strikeouts. 

deGrom won his second game of the season.  Jared Hughes pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts,

Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a walk and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up two hits and 

he struck out three.  Seth Lugo picked up his third save of the season pitching an inning with a walk 

and a strikeout.  

Pablo Lopez pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with two being earned.  He walked

four and struck out four and took his first loss of the season.  Stephen Tarpley pitched 1/3 of an inning

giving up two hits and a run.  Mike Morin pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two

strikeouts and Brian Moran pitched an inning with a strikeout.  

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Jeff McNeil had two RBI and Michael Conforto

had a hit and drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had a hit and drew two walks, Dom Smith had a hit and Gimenez

had three hits.  Tomas Nido had a hit and drew a walk, Gimenez and Smith each hit a double.  The Mets

were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gimenez had a stolen base and 

Conforto was caught stealing.  Alonso committed an error and Nido had a passed ball.  

In the third McNeil hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Conforto reached on an error

and the lead was pushed to 2-0.  In the fourth Nimmo hit an RBI single to make it 3-0.  In the fifth 

Aguilar hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth McNeil hit a sac fly and the lead was

4-2 and that was the final score.  

The Mets took two out of three in the series and will now face the Washington Nationals at home

beginning on Monday night.  


New York Yankees blow late lead and lose to the Tampa Bay Rays

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took 

place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  James Paxton started for 

the Yankees and he pitched great until it fell apart in the last inning.  DJ LeMahieu led the offense with

two hits.  

Paxton pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  Jonathan 

Holder pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk and Zack Britton took his first loss of the 

season.  He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk.  

Charlie Morton pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout.  

Trevor Richards pitched four innings giving up four hits and wo unearned runs with two walks and Joh

four strikeouts.  John Curtiss pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts and Ryan Thompson

pitched a perfect inning.  

LeMahieu had two hits and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk and Luke Voit

had a hit and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk, Mike Ford had an RBI and 

Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Brett Gardner had a hit, Hicks, Gardner and Torres each hit a double.  The 

Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  

Yandy Diaz had a hit, Austin Meadows had a hit and Jose Martinez had a hit and drew a walk.  

Mike Brosseau had two hits and two RBI, Brandon Lowe had a hit and an RBI and Manuel Margot

drew a walk.  Mike Zunino drew a walk, Ji-Man Choi had a hit and Michahael Perez had a hit and an

RBI.  Martinez, Meadows and Brosseau hit a double.  Brosseau and Lowe each hit a homerun.  

The Rays were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Margot committed an 

error.  

In the first Ford got hit by a pitch to drive in a run and give them a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Urshela reached

on a fielding error and two runs scored to push the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Brosseau hit a two-run 

homerun followed by a solo homerun by Lowe to tie the game at three.  In the ninth Perez hit an RBI

single to win the game 4-3 for the Rays.  The Rays took three out of four and the Yankees will  now

have off on Monday before beginning a short two-game series with the Braves at home on Tuesday 

night.

New York Yankees drop game 2 of the doubleheader

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of a doubleheader on 

Saturday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was

5-3.  Michael King started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen was pretty good.  Luke Voit led

the offense with two hits.  

King pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up a hit and three runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  King lost his

first game of the season.  Luis Avilan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked two, Albert 

Abreu made his major league debut pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up three hits and two runs with 

two walks and two strikeouts and Ben Heller pitched 2/3 of an inning.  

Ryan Thompson pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Diego Castillo pitched an 

inning with a walk and a strikeout, Pete Fairbanks pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with

a walk and a strikeout and Andrew Kittredge pitched a perfect inning.  Jalen Beeks pitched 1 2/3 innings

giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Nick Anderson earned his second 

save of the season pitching to one batter and getting him out.  

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and two RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk.

Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Voit had two hits and an RBI.  Gio Urshela

had a hit and Eric Kratz had a hit and drew a walk.  Kratz hit a double and the Yankees were 3-6 with 

runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  

Austin Meadows had two hits and two RBI, Hunter Renfroe drew two walks and Jose Martinez had a

hit.  Ji-Man Choi had a hit and drew a walk, Joey Wendle drew a walk and Yoshi Tsutsugo had an RBI

and drew a walk.  Willy Adames drew a walk, Kevin Kiermaier drew two walks and Yandy Diaz 

drew a walk.  Kevan Smith had a hit and two RBI, Meadows hit a double and the Rays were 2-12 with

runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Kiermaier had an outfield assist.  

In the bottom of the first Tsutsugo had an RBI walk to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Voit 

hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the fourth Meadows hit a two-run single 

to give the Rays a 3-1 lead.  In the fifth Smith hit a two-run single to push their lead to 5-1.  In the 

seventh LeMahieu hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 5-3 but that would be the final score.  

The two teams will play the rubber game of the four-game series on Sunday afternoon.  



New York Yankees take Game 1 of doubleheader in Tampa Bay

 The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday 

afternoon.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 8-4.

Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Aaron Judge led the offense with three hits and 

Giancarlo Stanton and Gio Urshela added a couple of hits each.  

Cole pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Chad Green

picked up his second win of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a run and two walks with 

two strikeouts and Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  

Tyler Glasnow pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three walks and five 

strikeouts.  Glasnow took his first loss of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 

five hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts and Oliver Drake pitched an inning giving up 

a hit and a run with a walk.  

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Judge had three hits and two RBI and Mike Ford had a hit and two RBI.  

Stanton had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Mike

In the third Ford hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Urshela hit a two-run doubleex

and the lead extended to 4-0.  In the fifth Stanton hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the 

bottom of the fifth Choi hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-1.  Martinez hit a two-run homerun and 

it was cut to 5-3.  In the sixth Judge hit a two-run homerun to push the lead back to four at 7-3.  

In the bottom of the sixth Kiermaier hit an RBI groundout to make it 7-4 and that was as close as it

got.  Urshela added a sac fly in the seventh and the final score was 8-4.

Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-4.  David Peterson started for the Mets and he pitched

well.  J.D. Davis led the offense with two hits and four RBI.  

Peterson pitched five innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  

Peterson won his second game of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with three walks, Drew Smith pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and 

Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Seth Lugo pitched a perfect 

inning with a strikeout and Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two 

strikeouts.  

Daniel Castano pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with four being earned.  He 

walked one and struck out four.  James Hoyt pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout, Brian Moran 

pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and a strikeout and Josh Smith 

pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run.  Pat Venditte pitched a perfect inning.  

Amed Rosario had a hit, Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew a walk and Davis  had two hits and four RBI.

Pete Alonso had a hit, two RBI and a walk, Michael Conforto had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and 

Dom Smith had a hit.  Smith hit a double, Conforto, Alonso and Davis each hit a homerun.  The Mets

were 1-3 with runners in scoring position  left four men on base.  

Jon Berti drew a walk, Jesus Aguilar had two hits and Corey Dickerson had two hits and drew a walk.

Brian Anderson had two hits and an RBI, Matt Joyce drew a walk and Logan Forsythe had a hit, an RBI

and drew two walks and Monte Harrison had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Forsythe hit a

homerun and the Marlins were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  

Anderson committed an error.  

In the first Anderson hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the second Conforto hit a 

two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  Alonso hit a two-run homerun in the third to extend 

the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Forsythe hit a solo  homerun cutting the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the 

fifth Davis hit a sac fly and the lead was 5-2.  In the sixth Harrison hit a two-run single to cut the lead

to one at 5-4.  In the seventh Davis hit a three-run homerun to make it 8-4 and that would be the final

score.  The two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon.

field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Michael Wacha started for the Mets and he

pitched ok, the bullpen was good and Pete Alonso had two hits to lead the offense.  

Wacha pitched five innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Wacha 

lost his second game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking 

out five, Jared Hughes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Edwin Diaz pitched a 

perfect inning with two strikeouts.  

Humberto Mejia pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and six strikeouts.  

Justin Shafer pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Stephen Tarpley won his second

game of the season pitching two perfect innings with two strikeouts and James Hoyt pitched 2/3

of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Richard Bleier pitched 1/3 of an inning giving

up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and Nick Vincent picked up his first save of the season

pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one.  

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Brian Dozier drew a walk and Alonso had two hits.  Michael Conforto

had a hit, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Dom Smith had a hit and an RBI.  Wilson Ramos drew a

walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and Alonso, Conforto and Rosario each hit a double.  Smith hit a

homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Shreve

had a pickoff.  

Jonathan Villar had a hit and an RBI, Jesus Aguilar had two hits and drew a walk and Brian Anderson

drew a walk.  Matt Joyce had two hits, Francisco Cervelli had a hit and three RBI and Magneuris 

Sierra had a hit and drew two walks.  Villar hit a double and Aguilar hit two doubles.  Cervelli hit a 

homerun and the Marlins were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  

Sierra had a stolen base and was caught stealing.  Anderson committed an error.  

In the second Cervelli hit a three-run homerun to give the Marlins a 3-0 lead.  Villar hit an RBI double

and the lead was pushed to 4-0.  In the second Smith hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1.  

In the eighth Conforto hit into a fielder's choice and the lead was 4-2.  Davis hit an RBI single to 

make it a 4-3 game but that would be the final score.

New York Yankees are shutout by the Tampa Bay Rays

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place

at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 1-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started for

the Yankees and pitched great.  The bullpen pitched well and the offense didn't do anything.  

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up a hit and no runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  Luis Cessa

pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Adam Ottavino lost his first game of the 

season pitching an inning giving up a run and two walks with a strikeout.  

Blake Snell pitched three hitless and scoreless innings.  He walked two and struck out five.  Andrew

Kittredge pitched two perfect innings, Pete Fairbanks pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out

one, Diego Castillo pitched 1/3 of an inning walking two and Nick Anderson pitched 2/3 of an inning

walking one and striking out one.  Chaz Roe won his second game of the season pitching two innings

giving up a hit and he struck out two.  

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk.

Michael Perez had an RBI, Kiermaier hit a double and the Rays were 0-4 with runners in scoring

In the eighth Perez hit a sac fly to give the Rays a 1-0 lead and that was the final score.  The two 

teams will play a doubleheader beginning tomorrow afternoon.  



Yankees lose a close one to the Philadelphia Phillies

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night.  The game took 

place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 5-4.  Jordan

Montgomery started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well.  The Yankees bullpen kept them in 

the game and Mike Tauchman and Brett Gardner each had two hits to lead the offense.  

Montgomery pitched four innings giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  

Montgomery took his first loss of the season.  David Hale pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he 

walked two and struck out three and Jonathan Holder pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk 

 and struck out three.

Zach Eflin pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with none being earned.  He walked 

one and struck out five.  Deolis Guerra pitched an inning with a strikeout and he won his first game

of the season, Nick Pivetta pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  

Jose Alvarez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Hector Neris pitched

1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he had a strikeout.  

Tauchman had two hits and two RBI, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit.  

 Gardner had two hits, Gio Urshela had a hit and Gary Sanchez had a hit and two RBI.  Tyler Wade

drew a walk, DJ LeMahieu had a hit and Urshela and Stanton each hit a double.  Sanchez hit a homerun.

The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner was caught

stealing and Hale had a pickoff.   

Andrew McCutchen had two hits, Rhys Hoskins drew a walk and Bryce Harper had a hit and drew two 

walks.  JT Realmuto had two hits and three RBI, Phil Gosselin had a hit and two RBI and Didi 

Gregorius had a hit.  Roman Quinn  had a hit and drew a walk, Gosselin and McCutchen each hit a 

double and Quinn hit a triple.  Realmuto hit a homerun and the Phillies were 2-8 with runners in scoring

position and left six men on base.  Quinn was picked off and Kingery committed an error.  

In the first Realmuto hit a three-run homerun to give the Phillies a 3-0 lead.  In the second Tauchman

hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the third Gosselin hit a two-run double to make it 5-2.

In the seventh Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to make it a 5-4 game.  The final score was 5-4.

New York Mets are shutout at the Atlanta Braves

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place

at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 4-0.  David Peterson started for the Mets

and he pitched pretty well.  Jeff McNeil led the offense with three hits but the story of the game was

the inability of the Mets to get the big hit. 

Peterson pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and eight strikeouts. 

Peterson took his first loss of the season.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout

and Drew Smith pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run. 

Kyle Wright started for the Braves and he pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits and no runs with

four walks and five strikeouts.  Tyler Matzek pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck

out four and won his first game of the season.  A.J. Minter pitched an inning giving up a hit and

Shane Greene pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Mark Melancon pitched

an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.

Robinson Cano had a hit, J.D. Davis had a hit and Dom Smith had a hit and drew a walk.  Amed

hit a double.  The Mets were 1-15 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Dansby Swanson had a hit and Freddie Freeman

had a hit and two RBI.  Johan Camargo had a hit and an RBI, Adam Duvall had two hits and drew a

walk and Austin Riley had a hit.  Riley, Duvall and Acuna Jr. each hit a double and Camargo hit a

homerun.  The Braves were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the third Acuna drew an RBI walk and Freddie Freeman had an RBI ground out to give the Braves

a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Camargo hit a solo homerun and in the eighth Freeman hit an RBI single to

push the lead to 4-0 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play again on Monday

night with the Braves looking for the four-game sweep.
