New York Yankees jump all over the Baltimore Orioles

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 13-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the offense was led by Aaron Judge hitting two homeruns and six RBI. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up eight hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Tanaka won his 12^th game of the season.  Bryan Mitchell pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Wade Miley lost his 13^th game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up six hits and six runs with no walks and no strikeouts.  Mike Wright pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts, Richard Rodriguez pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with two walks and Jimmy Yacobonis pitched two innings giving up two walks and he had two strikeouts.  Donnie Hart pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew three walks, Judge had three hits and six RBI and Gary Sanchez had two hits and two RBI.  Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI, Erik Kratz had a hit and Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Todd Frazier had two hits, three RBI and two walks, Clint Frazier had two hits and drew a walk and Sanchez, T. Frazier and C. Frazier each hit a double.  T. Frazier hit a homerun and Judge hit two homeruns and Sanchez hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  T. Frazier committed an error. 

Tim Beckham had a hit and drew a walk, Chance Sisco had two hits and an RBI and Jonathan Schoop had a hit and an RBI.  Adam Jones had a hit, Trey Mancini had two hits and an RBI, Chris Davis had a hit and Mark Trumbo had a hit.  Joey Rickard had a hit and an RBI, Seth Smith had a hit and drew a walk and Caleb Joseph had a hit and an RBI.  Sisco, Rickard and Joseph each hit a double and Schoop, Mancini and Sisco each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Davis and Hays each committed an error. 

In the first Sanchez hit an RBI double, Holliday hit an RBI ground out, Headley hit an RBI single and T. Frazier hit a three-run homerun to make it 6-0 Yankees.  In the fourth Schoop hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Judge hit a three-run homerun to extend the lead to 9-1.  Mancini hit a solo homerun in the sixth to cut the lead to 9-2.  In the sixth Judge hit a three-run homerun followed by a Sanchez solo homerun to make it 13-2 Yankees.  In the eighth Rickard hit an RBI double and Joseph hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 13-4.  In the ninth Sisco hit a solo homerun to make it 13-5 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.   

New York Mets get blown out by the Chicago Cubs

The New York Mets were defeated by the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.  The game took place at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 17-5.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well.  Amed Rosario had three hits to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with four walks and two strikeouts and he lost his fifth game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Chasen Bradford pitched an inning giving up three hits and four runs with three walks and a strikeout and Kevin McGowan pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.  Jacob Rhame pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and five runs with two walks and a strikeout and Jamie Callahan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Jon Lester won his 11^th game of the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and two runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Brian Duensing pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Pedro Strop pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout and Justin Grimm pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with two strikeouts.  Felix Pena pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jose Reyes had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Nori Aoki had a hit and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk.  Kevin Plawecki drew three walks, Rosario had three hits and Travis Taijeron had two hits and drew a walk.  Harvey had an RBI, Dominic Smith had a hit and two RBI and Reyes and Smith each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base and Taijeron was picked off.  Cabrera committed an error and Lagares had an outfield assist. 

Ben Zobrist had two hits and drew three walks, Kris Bryant had three hits and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had two RBI and drew four walks.  Willson Contreras had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Albert Almora Jr. had two hits and six RBI and Ian Happ had two RBI and drew a walk.  Jon Jay had an RBI, Jayson Heyward had a hit and drew a walk and Javier Baez had four hits and an RBI.  Rene Rivera had two hits and two RBI, Bryant hit a double and Rivera hit two doubles.  Almora Jr. hit a triple and Baez and Almora each hit a homerun.  The Cubs were 7-20 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Rivera had a passed ball and Contreras had a pickoff. 

In the first Reyes hit a solo homerun and the Mets had a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Contreras hit an RBI ground out, Happ hit an RBI ground out and it was 2-1 Cubs.  In the second Harvey hit a sac bunt RBI to tie the game at two.  In the fourth Rizzo drew an RBI walk, Contreras hit a two-run single and the lead was 5-2 Cubs.  In the sixth Happ reached on an error and a run scored making it a 6-2 game.  In the seventh Baez hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 7-2.  Almora Jr. hit a three-run homerun and the lead was extended to 10-2.  In the eighth a passed ball made it a 10-3 game and a Smith two-run homerun cut the lead to 10-5.  In the bottom of the eighth Rivera hit a two-run double to make it 12-5 and Rizzo drew an RBI walk to push it to 13-5.  Almora Jr. hit a three-run triple and the lead was 16-5 and an RBI ground out by Jay made it 17-5 which would be the final score.  The two teams will finish their series on Thursday before the Mets head to Atlanta for the weekend. 

The New York Mets fall to the Chicago Cubs

The New York Mets were defeated by the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 8-3.  Robert Gsellman started for the Mets and he pitched just ok.  Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits to lead the offense. 

Gsellman pitched four innings giving up four innings giving up five hits and four runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  Gsellman lost his seventh game of the season.  Tommy Milone pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Jacob Rhame pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run and Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Chris Flexen pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Carlos Quintana won his 10^th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Carl Edwards Jr. pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Justin Wilson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout and Pedro Strop pitched to two batters and retired them both.

Jose Reyes had a hit and drew a walk, Nori Aoki had an RBI and Cabrera had three hits.  Travis d’Arnaud had an RBI, Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk and Amed Rosario had two hits.  Travis Taijeron had an RBI, Matt Reynolds drew a walk and Cabrera and Lagares each hit a double.  The Mets were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Reyes was picked off. 

Ben Zobrist had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks, Kris Bryant had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.  Willson Contreras drew three walks, Ian Happ had a hit and an RBI and Kyle Schwarber had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jayson Heyward had a hit, Javier Baez had a hit and drew a walk and Quintana had an RBI.  Albert Almora Jr. had a hit, Zobrist and Baez each hit a double and Bryant, Schwarber and Happ each hit a homerun.  The Cubs were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Zobrist was caught stealing and Contreras was caught stealing also.  Quintana had a pickoff. 

In the fourth Taijeron hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Quintana hit a sac bunt and a run scored to tie the game at one.  Bryant hit a three-run homerun to give the Cubs a 4-1 lead.  In the fifth d’Arnaud hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Schwarber hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 5-2.  In the sixth Zobrist hit an RBI single to make it a 6-2 game.  In the seventh Happ hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 7-2 lead.  In the eighth Bryant hit a sac fly to make it 8-2 and in the ninth Aoki hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 8-3 and that was the final score. 

The New York Yankees drop a close one to even the series

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the Yankees offense only managed three hits. 

Gray pitched a complete game giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  He lost his tenth game of the season. 

Blake Snell pitched five innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  Steve Cishek pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Dan Jennings pitched to one batter and got him out and Tommy Hunter won his third game of the season pitching an inning with two strikeouts.  Jesus Colome saved his 44^th game of the season pitching a perfect inning. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI.  Chase Headley had a hit, Todd Frazier drew a walk and Holliday hit a double.  The Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Kevin Kiermaier had a hit and an RBI, Lucas Duda had a hit and Steven Souza Jr. drew a walk.  Wilson Ramos had a hit, Brad Miller had a hit and Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit and an RBI.  Duda and Ramos each hit a double, Kiermaier and Hechavarria each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the first Holliday hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Kiermaier hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Hechavarria hit a solo homerun to give the Rays a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Wednesday afternoon.   

New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays at neutral site in New York

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Citi Field wasn’t a typo, due to hurricane Irma the games were moved to a neutral site and that was the only one available that worked for everyone.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched well and so did the bullpen.  The Yankees offense only managed four hits but that was enough. 

Sabathia pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks and six strikeouts.  David Robertson won his eighth game of the season pitching 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out four, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning. 

Jake Odorizzi pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up five runs and only one was earned.  He walked three and struck out five and lost his eighth game of the season.  Chaz Roe pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one, Andrew Kittredge pitched an inning with a strikeout and Ryne Stanek pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and struck out one.  Chase Whitley pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Sergio Romo pitched an inning with two strikeouts.

New York Mets defeat the Cincinnati Reds

The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen pitched well.  Jose Reyes and Travis Taijeron each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Lugo won his sixth game of the season.  Tommy Milone pitched a perfect inning, Paul Sewald pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and a run with two strikeouts and AJ Ramos pitched to two batters and retired them both and earned his 27^th save of the season. 

Amir Garrett pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Garrett lost his seventh game of the season.  Cody Reed pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run with a walk and a strikeout, Ariel Hernandez pitched an inning with a strikeout and Luke Farrell pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Reyes had two hits and three RBI, Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit.  Taijeron had two hits and an RBI, Dominic Smith had a hit and drew a walk and Gavin Cecchini drew a walk.  Lugo had a hit, d’Arnaud and Taijeron each hit a double and Taijeron hit a homerun.  Reyes hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Cecchini was caught stealing. 

Phillip Ervin had a hit, Jose Peraza had a hit and Joey Votto had two hits and drew a walk.  Scooter Gennett had two hits, Eugenio Suarez had a hit and Tucker Barnhart had two hits.  Zack Cozart had an RBI and the Reds were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gennett committed an error. 

In the second Taijeron hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Reyes hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Reyes hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the sixth Reynolds reached on a force attempt error and the score was 5-0 Mets.  In the ninth Cozart hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.
