New YOrk Yankees double up the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 6-3.  Jonathan Loaisiga started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  Giancarlo led the offense with two homeruns and DJ LeMahieu also had two hits. 

Loaisiga pitched four innings giving up three hits and two runs with seven strikeouts.  Zack Britton pitched 1 2/3 innings with a walk, Steven Tarpley pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  David Hale pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and four strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a couple of walks and Zack Zehner drew a walk.  Stanton had two hits and three RBI, Trey Amburgey had a hit and Luke Voit had an RBI.  LeMahieu had two hits, Troy Tulowitzki drew a walk and Gio Urshela had a hit.  Kyle Holder drew a walk, Urshela hit a double, Stanton hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Odubel Herrera hit a solo homerun and in the third Scott Kingery hit a solo homerun to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.  In the third Stanton hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1 and then hit a two-run homerun in the fifth to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth a wild pitch made it a 4-2 game.  In the seventh Voit hit a sac fly and a wild pitch pushed the Yankees lead to 6-2.  In the eighth Lane Adams drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 6-3 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees spring record improved to 16-8 and they will play the Toronto Blue Jays at home on Saturday in their last spring home game.

The New York Mets shutout the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Thursday.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 6-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Brandon Nimmo had a big day at the plate with two hits and four RBI.  Michael Conforto added a couple of RBI. 

Matz pitched five innings giving up six hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Tyler Bashlor pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect inning and Ryan O’Rourke pitched an inning with two walks.  Arquimedes Caminero pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three walks and he struck out one and Casey Coleman pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Nimmo had two hits and four RBI, Peter Alonso had a hit and Robinson Cano drew a walk.  Wilson Ramos had two hits, Conforto had a hit and two RBI and Keon Broxton had a hit.  J.D. Davis had a hit, Jeff McNeil had a hit and Amed Rosario drew a walk.  Ramos hit a double, Conforto hit a homerun and Nimmo hit two homeruns.  The Mets were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Alcantara and Broxton each had a stolen base.  Davis committed an error. 

In the second Conforto hit a two-run homerun and Nimmo hit a three-run homerun to give the Mets a 5-0 lead.  In the seventh Nimmo hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 6-0 and that would be the final score. 

The Mets spring record improved to 10-14 and they will take on the Cardinals on Friday. 

New York Yankees were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Yankees were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday.  The game took place at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 11-3.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he did not pitch well.  Gio Urshela had two hits and Gleyber Torres had two RBI to lead the offense. 

German pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with four strikeouts.  Rex Brothers pitched to one batter and struck him out, Stephen Tarpley pitched a perfect inning and James Reeves pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hit and two runs with two walks.  Cale Coshow pitched an inning giving up five hits and four runs with two strikeouts and Phillip Diehl pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Torres had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Urshela had two hits.  Ryan Lavarnway had a hit, RBI and drew a walk, Matt Lipka had a hit and drew two walks and Urshela and Torres each hit a double.  The Yankees were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Lipka and Zehner each had a stolen base.  Reeves committed an error. 

In the first Dexter Fowler hit a solo homerun giving the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the second Drew Robinson hit an RBI single and Fowler hit his second homerun a two-run shot to push the Cardinals lead to 4-0.  In the third Torres hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the third Marcell Ozuna hit a solo homerun to make it 5-2.  In the fourth Lavarnway hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3.  In the sixth Harrison Bader hit an RBI single and Robinson hit an RBI single to increase the Cardinals lead to 7-3.  In the seventh Ozuna hit an RBI double, Kolten Wong hit a sac fly and Robinson hit a two-run double to make it a 11-3 game and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees lose a close one to the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida and the final score was 2-1.  Jonathan Holder started for the Yankees as the opener and pitched well.  Luke Voit had two hits to lead the offense. 

Holder pitched two innings giving up no hits or runs with a walk.  Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched three innings giving up four hits and an unearned run with three strikeouts, Joe Harvey pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Rex Brothers pitched an inning with three walks and two strikeouts. 

Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew two walks, Voit had two hits and Greg Bird drew a walk.  Zack Zehner drew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI and Thairo Estrada drew a walk.  Sanchez hit a double and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Voit had a stolen base.  Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar each committed an error. 

In the first Sanchez hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Springer lined out and a run scored on a throwing error by Andujar to tie the game at one.  IN the sixth Carlos Correa hit a solo homerun giving the Astros a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida on Thursday afternoon. 

The New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 6-2.  Chad Green started for the Yankees as the opener and did ok.  Luis Cessa was great out of the bullpen.  Gary Sanchez had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Green pitched one inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Cessa pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs and he struck out five, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Danny Coulombe pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  David Sosebee pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Jeff Hendrix drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Billy Burns had two hits and an RBI, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Sanchez had two hits and two RBI.  Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI, Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Stanton hit a double.  Sanchez hit two doubles and Bird hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Burns and Gardner each had a stolen base and Torres had two stolen bases.  Judge committed an error. 

In the first Michael Perez hit an RBI single to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Sanchez hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the third Judge hit an RBI single, Stanton hit an RBI double and Sanchez hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead.  In the fourth Burns hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Bird hit a solo homerun and the lead was 6-1.  In the ninth Mac James hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will take on the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon in West Palm Beach.

New York Mets fall just short of the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Monday.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 6-5.  Jeurys Familia started and pitched a good inning.  Brandon Nimmo led the offense with two hits. 

Familia pitched one inning with two strikeouts, Kyle Dowdy pitched three innings giving up three hits and two walks with two strikeouts and Luis Avilan pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts.  Tim Peterson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout, Daniel Zamora pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and Zach Lee pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Nimmo had two hits, Rajai Davis had a hit and Robinson Cano had a hit.  Peter Alonso had a hit, Michael Conforto had a hit and two RBI and Dominic Smith had a hit and an RBI.  Tomas Nido drew a walk, Devin Mesoraco had a hit and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  Adeiny Hechavarria had an RBI and Will Toffey had a hit.  Mesoraco hit a double, Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.   Toffey was caught stealing and Nimmo had an outfield assist. 

In the first Conforto hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Wilmer Difo hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the seventh Spencer Kieboom hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the seventh Hechavarria hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.  In the eighth Tres Barrera hit an RBI single, Armond Upshaw hit an RBI single and Kieboom hit a two-run single giving the Nationals a 6-3 lead.  In the eighth Smith reached on a fielding error to cut the lead to 6-5 but that would be the final score. 

New York Yankees defeat the Atlanta Braves


The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.  The game took place at Champion Stadium in Orlando, Florida and the final score was 7-4.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched well.  Aaron Judge hit a two-run triple, Austin Romine had three hits and Ryan Lavarnway had a couple of hits. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts, Stephen Tarpley pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he had a strikeout and Phillip Diehl pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.  Daniel Alvarez pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Judge had a hit and two RBI and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk.  Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI, DJ LeMahieuu had a hit and drew a walk and Gosuke Katoh drew a walk.  Romine had three hits and two RBI, Tyler Wade had a hit and Gio Urshela drew a walk.  Lavarnway had two hits and two RBI.  Lavarnway and Wade each hit a double, Judge hit a triple and Voit hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Urshela and Wade each had a stolen base.  Olivares had an outfield assist and Diaz had a passed ball. 

In the second Voit hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Lavarnway hit a two-run single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Nick Markakis hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Judge hit a two-run triple extending the lead to 5-1 and Romine hit a two-run single to make it a 7-1 game.  In the sixth Charlie Culberson hit an RBI single, Dansby Swanson hit a two-run single and the lead was cut to 7-4.  7-4 would be the final score. 

The Yankees improved their spring record to 14-6 and they will take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday afternoon.  The Yankees have won eight games in a row.

New York Mets are doubled up by the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Sunday.  The game took place at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida and the final score was 10-5.  Hector Santiago started for the Mets and was horrible.  Robinson Cano had two hits to lead the offense. 

Santiago pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up seven hits and six runs with a strikeout.  Casey Coleman pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two, Ryan O’Rourke pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two and Tyler Bashlor pitched two innings giving up four hits and a run.  Ryley Gilliam pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI, Peter Alonso had a hit and two RBI and Cano had two hits and drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had a hit, Michael Conforto had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Jeff McNeil had a hit.  Amed Rosario drew a walk, Devin Mesoraco had ah it and Keon Broxton had a hit.  Cano and Davis each hit a double and Conforto and Alonso each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Juan Soto hit a two-run homerun, Wilmer Difo hit a three-run double and Adrian Sanchez hit an RBI single to make it 6-0 Nationals.  In the fourth Conforto hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the fifth Nimmo hit an RBI single to make it a 6-3 game.  In the sixth Matt Adams hit an RBI double to push the lead to 7-3.  In the seventh Alonso hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-5.  In the eighth Hunter Jones hit an RBI ground out and Tyler Goeddel hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 10-5 and that was the final score. 

The Mets will take on the Washington Nationals again on Monday at home in Port St. Lucie.

New York Mets blow a big lead to the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Saturday.  The game took place at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 11-6.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well.  Robinson Cano had three hits and Michael Conforto had two hits and three RBI to lead the offense. 

Vargas pitched four innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up three hits and four runs with a strikeout and Daniel Zamora pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Tim Peterson pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs. 

Jeff McNeil had ah it and an RBI, Rajai Davis had a hit and Peter Alonso had a hit and an RBI.  Cano had three hits, Conforto had two hits and three RBI and J.D. Davis had a hit.  Amed Rosario had a hit and drew a walk, Juan Lagares had a hit and Cano and McNeil each hit a double.  Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base and Lugo committed an error. 

In the first Conforto hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the third Conforto hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth McNeil hit an RBI double and Alonso hit an RBI single and a wild pitch made it a 6-0 game.  In the bottom of the fifth Deven Marrero hit an RBI double, Curtis Granderson hit a two-run double, Miguel Rojas hit an RBI double and Starlin Castro hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 6-5.  In the sixth Isaac Galloway bunted and a run scored on a throwing error to tie the game at six.  Pedro Alvarez hit a three-run homerun to give the Marlins a 9-6 lead.  In the eighth Alvarez hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 11-6 and that would be the final score. 
The Mets spring record fell to 9-12 and they will take on the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Friday.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 11-3.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched horribly.  Keon Broxton led the offense with a couple of hits.   

Matz pitched two innings giving up seven hits and eight runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Eric Hanhold pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs and Robert Gsellman pitched a perfect inning.  Luis Avilan pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Ryan O’Rourke pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts.

In the first Adam Eaton hit a solo homerun to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  Matt Adams hit an RBI double and Yan Gomes hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the second Anthony Rendon hit a two-run homerun and Ryan Zimmerman hit a solo homerun to extend the Nationals lead to 8-0.  In the bottom of the second Guillorme hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 8-1.  In the third Gomes hit a solo homerun making it a 9-1 game.  In the bottom of the third Cano hit into a double play and the score was 9-2.  In the fourth Rendon hit a solo homerun and Adams hit a solo homerun making it 11-2.  Davis hit a sac fly in the seventh to cut the lead to 11-3 and that would be the final score. 

The Mets spring record fell to 9-11.  They will head to Jupiter to take on the Miami Marlins on Saturday. 

New York Yankees offense continues to put up big numbers in win over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 17-7.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, Zack Britton, Aroldis Chapman and Jonathan Holder pitched well.  Matt Lipka, Thairo Estrada and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched three innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Britton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Phillip Diehl pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Greg Weissert pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit.

The Yankees record improved to 11-6 and they will play a split squad on Sunday.  They will play at the Orioles and at the Phillies.

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Friday.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 14-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Aaron Judge had two hits and three RBI, Miguel Andujar had a couple of hits and DJ LeMahieu had a couple of RBI to lead the offense. 

German pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched to one batter and struck him out, Jonathan Holder pitched to two batters and retired them both and Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run.  Stephen Tarpley pitched two innings giving up three hits and James Reeves pitched an inning giving up a hit.

In the second LeMahieu reached on an error and the Yankees took a 1-0 lead.  Gardner hit a sac fly and Judge hit a three-run homerun and it was 5-0 Yankees.  In the fourth LeMahieu hit an RBI double, Amburgey hit a sac fly and Voit hit a two-run double to push the Yankees lead to 9-0.  Andujar hit an RBI single and it was 10-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Amburgey hit an RBI single, Lipka grounded into a force out and Gittens hit an RBI single and it was a 13-0 game.  In the sixth the Red Sox finally got on the board when Sam Travis grounded into a double play and a run scored to cut the lead to 13-1.  In the eighth Lavarnway hit an RBI double to make it 14-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees improved their spring record to 10-6 and they will take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
