The New York
Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner
Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 6-3. Jonathan Loaisiga started for the Yankees and
he pitched ok. Giancarlo led the offense
with two homeruns and DJ LeMahieu also had two hits.
Loaisiga pitched
four innings giving up three hits and two runs with seven strikeouts. Zack Britton pitched 1 2/3 innings with a
walk, Steven Tarpley pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out
one and Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out
one. David Hale pitched two innings
giving up two hits and a run with two walks and four strikeouts.
Brett Gardner
drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a couple of walks and Zack Zehner drew a
walk. Stanton had two hits and three
RBI, Trey Amburgey had a hit and Luke Voit had an RBI. LeMahieu had two hits, Troy Tulowitzki drew a
walk and Gio Urshela had a hit. Kyle Holder
drew a walk, Urshela hit a double, Stanton hit two homeruns and the Yankees
were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
In the first
Odubel Herrera hit a solo homerun and in the third Scott Kingery hit a solo
homerun to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.
In the third Stanton hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1 and then
hit a two-run homerun in the fifth to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead. In the sixth a wild pitch made it a 4-2
game. In the seventh Voit hit a sac fly
and a wild pitch pushed the Yankees lead to 6-2. In the eighth Lane Adams drew an RBI walk to
cut the lead to 6-3 and that would be the final score.
The Yankees
spring record improved to 16-8 and they will play the Toronto Blue Jays at home
on Saturday in their last spring home game.
