Jacob deGrom dominates as Mets win in Philly


The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 3-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he dominated.  Jeff McNeil and Todd Frazier each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched a complete game giving up one unearned run on seven hits and he struck out nine.  deGrom earned his eighth win of the season. 

Jake Arrieta lost his eighth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and a run with six strikeouts.  Luis Garcia pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Edubray Ramos pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Hector Neris pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  

Amed Rosario had a hit, McNeil had two hits and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Frazier had two hits, Devin Mesoraco had a hit and an RBI and Frazier hit a double.  McNeil hit a triple and Mesoraco hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  McNeil had a stolen base and deGrom committed an error. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, Rhys Hoskins had two hits and Carlos Santana had a hit.  Nick Williams had a hit, Maikel Franco had two hits, Franco hit a double and Hoskins hit a double.  The Phillies were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Hoskins had a stolen base and Arrieta and Santana each committed an error.  Ramos had a passed ball. 

In the fourth Flores hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Mesoraco hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  McNeil hit an RBI triple and the lead was pushed to 3-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Herrera grounded into a force out and a run scored to cut the lead to 3-1. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday night in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.   

New York Mets are doubled up by the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 4-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched ok and Austin Jackson led the offense with three hits and Jeff McNeil contributed two hits. 

Syndergaard lost his third game of the season pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Daniel Zamora pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two and Robert Gsellman pitched an inning with a walk. 

Aaron Nola pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and 11 strikeouts and won his 14th game of the season.  Victor Arano pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts, Adam Morgan pitched to one batter and struck him out and Pat Neshek pitched an inning giving up a hit and he saved his third game of the season. 

McNeil had two hits, Jackson had three hits and an RBI and Todd Frazier had an RBI.  Jose Bautista had a hit, Kevin Plawecki drew a walk and McNeil hit a double and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Jackson was picked off. 

Cesar Hernandez had two hits, Rhys Hoskins drew two walks and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI.  Nick Williams had a hit and an RBI, Carlos Santana had a hit and drew two walks and Maikel Franco had a hit.  Roman Quinn had a hit, Jorge Alfaro had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera hit a double and Quinn hit a triple.  The Phillies were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Franco, Hernandez and Santana each stole a base and Alfaro stole two bases.  Hernandez committed an error and Nola had a pickoff. 

In the first Cabrera hit an RBI double and Williams hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Phillies.  Santana grounded into a double play pushing the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Frazier hit a sac fly to cut the lead ot 3-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Alfaro hit an RBI single and it was 4-1 Phillies.  In the eighth Jackson hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees win second straight over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 11-6.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Miguel Andujar led the offense with three hits and three RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres each had two hits. 

Severino earned his 16th win of the season pitching five innings and giving up six hits and two runs.  He walked two and struck out eight.  Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one, Jonathan Holder pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Zach Britton pitched one inning giving up a hit.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and A.J. Cole pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

Sean Reid-Foley pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and eight runs with six of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out six.  Jake Petricka pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts, Jaime Garcia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Luis Santos pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout.  Ryan Tepera pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Stanton had two hits and an RBI and Aaron Hicks had an RBI and drew two walks.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and three RBI, Andujar had three hits and three RBI and Torres had two hits.  Greg Bird had a hit and two RBI, Neil Walker had a hit and drew a walk and Austin Romine had an RBI.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit, Andujar hit a double and Gregorius, Stanton, Andujar and Bird each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and committed an error and Walker also committed an error.  Walker had an outfield assist and Severino had a pickoff. 

Billy McKinney had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Curtis Granderson had two hits and drew a walk and Kendrys Morales had a hit.  Justin Smoak had two hits and an RBI, Kevin Pillar had a hit and an RBI, Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and drew a walk, Danny Jansen had two hits and an RBI and Aledmys Diaz had a hit.  Richard Urena had a hit and drew a walk, Jansen, Granderson and Pillar each hit a double and the Blue Jays were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  McKinney was picked off and Jansen and Travis each committed an error. 

In the first Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the second Romine hit a sac fly to push the lead to 3-0.  In the third Andujar hit a two-run double to push the Yankees lead to 5-0.  Bird hit an RBI ground out and it was 6-0.  In the fourth Stanton hit a solo homerun and in the fifth Andujar hit a solo homerun to make it 8-0.  In the sixth Smoak hit an RBI single and Jansen hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-2.  McKinney hit an RBI single and three runs scored after an error by Walker to cut the lead to 8-5.  In the bottom of the eighth Bird hit a solo homerun, Hicks drew an RBI walk and Gregorius hit a sac fly to extend the lead to 11-5.  In the ninth Pillar hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 11-6 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon. 

New York Yankees fight back for victory over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-5.  Lance Lynn started for the Yankees and he started out bad but turned it around and the bullpen was good.  Giancarlo Stanton and Miguel Andujar led the offense with two hits each. 

Lynn pitched four innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Chad Green picked up his sixth win of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and he struck out one and David Robertson earned his third save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Marcus Stroman pitched four innings giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Joe Biagini pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and he lost his seventh game of the season, Tim Mayza pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and Luis Santos pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.

In the first Morales hit an RBI single, Pillar hit an RBI single and Diaz hit a two-run single to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Gregorius hit an RBI triple and Andujar hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the fourth Walker hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 5-4 lead.  In the fifth Travis hit an RBI single to tie the game at five.  In the bottom of the fifth Torres hit into a force out and a run scored to give the Yankees a 6-5 lead.  In the seventh Stanton hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 7-5 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.
