Yankees lose a tight one in Game 2 of the ALCS

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the ALCS on Thursday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 3-2.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The bullpen pitched well and the offense didn’t produce much. 

Severino pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Severino took his first loss of the postseason.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk and Wandy Peralta pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits. 

Franmer Valdez won his first game of the postseason pitching seven innings and giving up four hits and two unearned runs.  He walked none and struck out nine.  Bryan Abreu pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Ryan Pressly saved his third game of the postseason pitching an inning and giving up a walk and three strikeouts. 

Harrison Bader had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and Anthony Rizzo had an RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk and Donaldson hit a double and the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Peralta had a pickoff. 

Jeremy Pena had a hit, Yordan Alvarez had a hit and Alex Bregman had two hits and three RBI.  Kyle Tucker had a hit and drew a walk, Yuli Gurriel had two hits and Martin Maldonado had a hit and drew a walk.  Bregman hit a homerun and the Astros were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Alvarez was picked off first base and Valdez committed two errors. 

In the bottom of the third Bregman hit a three-run homerun giving the Astros a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Rizzo hit an RBI groundout and Torres hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 3-2.  3-2 would be the final score of the game.  The two teams will have a travel day on Friday and then resume the series at Yankee Stadium on Saturday evening. 

New York Yankees fall in Game 1 ALCS to the Houston Astros

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-2.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he was ok.  The bullpen wasn’t great and the offense was led by Giancarlo Stanton who had two hits. 

Taillon pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks.  Clarke Schmidt lost his second game of the postseason pitching an inning and giving up two hits and two runs with two walks, Lou Trivino pitched 2/3 of an inning and had a strikeout and Frankie Montas pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Miguel Castro pitched a perfect inning. 

Justin Verlander won his first game of the postseason pitching six innings and giving up three hits and a run with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  Hector Neris pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Rafael Montero pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a  walk and two strikeouts and Ryan Pressly saved his second game of the postseason pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts. 

Anthony Rizzo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Stanton had two hits and Josh Donaldson drew a walk.  Harrison Bader had a hit and an RBI, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and Stanton hit a double.  Bader and Rizzo each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jose Altuve drew a walk, Jeremy Pena had three hits and an RBI and Yordan Alvarez drew two walks.  Alex Bregman drew a walk, Yuli Gurriel had a hit and an RBI and Chas McCormick had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Martin Maldonado had a hit and an RBI.  Pena hit two doubles and Maldonado hit a double.  Gurriel, McCormick and Pena each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Altuve committed an error. 

In the second Bader hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Maldonado hit an RBI double to tie the score at one.  In the bottom of the sixth Gurriel hit a solo homerun and McCormich hit a solo homerun pushing the Astros lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Pena hit a solo homerun making it 4-1 Astros.  In the eighth inning Rizzo hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of the series on Thursday night.

New York Yankees defeat Guardians in Game 5 to take ALDS

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night in Game 5 of the ALDS.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Nestor Cortes started for the Yankees and was good, the bullpen was also very good.  Aaron Judge had two hits to lead the offense. 

Cortes pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Cortes picked up the win.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up three hits and he struck out two, Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Wandy Peralta pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Aaron Civale started for the Guardians and he pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Civale took the loss, Sam Hentges pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Trevor Stephan pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a run and a walk with four strikeouts and James Karinchak pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out three.  Emmanuel Clase pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Gleyber Torres drew two walks, Judge had two hits and an RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and an RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and three RBI, Josh Donaldson had a hit and Harrison Bader drew two walks.  Jose Trevino had a hit, Stanton and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Torres had a stolen base. 

Steven Kwan had two hits, Amed Rosario had a hit and drew a walk and Jose Ramirez had a hit and an RBI.  Gabriel Arias had a hit, Austin Hedges had a hit and Owen Miller had a hit.  Luke Maile had a hit and the Guardians were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Stanton hit a three-run homerun giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Judge hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 4-0.  In the third Ramirez hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Rizzo hit an RBI single making it a 5-1 game and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees move on and the Guardians season ends.  The Yankees will begin the ALCS in Houston on Wednesday and Thursday nights.  They will have off on Friday before returning home for the weekend.

New York Yankees take game 1 ALDS over the Cleveland Guardians

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday in Game 1 of the ALDS.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  The Yankees bullpen was good and Anthony Rizzo and Harrison Bader each hit a homerun to power the offense. 

Cole pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Cole picked up the win, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits, Wandy Peralta pitched 1 1/3 innings and he struck out one and Clay Holmes pitched to two batters retiring them both. 

Cal Quantrill started for the Guardians and he pitched five innings giving up four hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked three and struck out five and lost the game.  Trevor Stephan pitched an inning with a strikeout, Enyel De Los Santos pitched an inning giving up a hit and James Karinchak pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Aaron Judge drew a walk, Rizzo had a hit and two RBI and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk.  Josh Donaldson had two hits and drew a walk, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and Jose Trevino had an RBI.  Bader had a hit and an RBI, Bader and Rizzo each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.  Judge had a stolen base and Kiner-Falefa committed an error. 

Steven Kwan had two hits and an RBI, Jose Ramirez had two hits and drew a walk and Andres Gimenez had a hit.  Myles Straw had a hit, Gimenez and Ramirez each hit a double and Kwan hit a homerun.  The Guardians were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base, Gonzalez and Hedges each committed an error.  Gonzalez had an outfield assist. 

In the third Kwan hit a solo homerun giving the Guardians a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third Bader hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the bottom of the fifth Trevino hit a sac fly giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Rizzo hit a two-run homerun extending the Yankees lead to 4-1 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of their playoff series on Thursday night.

New York Yankees shutout the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-0.  Nestor Cortes started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, Josh Donaldson, Giancarlo Stanton and Harrison Bader each had two hits each and Kyle Higashioka had three hits. 

Cortes pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up a hit and no runs.  He walked two and struck out 12.  Cortes picked up his 12th win of the season.  Jacob Barnes pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Austin Voth started for the Orioles and he pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Voth lost his fourth game of the season.  Spenser Watkins pitched three innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Aaron Judge drew two walks, Rizzo had two hits and Torres had two hits and two RBI.  Donaldson had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Stanton had two hits and an RBI and Bader had two hits and an RBI.  Higashioka had three hits and an RBI and Oswald Peraza had a hit.  Torres, Donaldson and Bader each hit a double.  Stanton and Higashioka each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Bader was caught stealing. 

Ryan Mountcastle had a hit and drew a walk, Adley Rutschman had a hit and Jorge Mateo had a hit and drew a walk.  Rutschman hit a double and the Orioles were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Mullins had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the first Torres hit an RBI double, Donaldson hit a sac fly and Stanton hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Higashioka hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Torres hit an RBI single, Donaldson hit a two-run single and it was 7-0 Yankees.  Bader hit an RBI double to make it 8-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.  It will also be the regular season final home game for the Yankees as they will head to Texas after to begin a four game series on Monday night.   

New York Yankees lose to the Baltimore Orioles as they still await 62 from Aaron Judge

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  Oswaldo Cabrera led the offense with two hits, the team only had four.  Aaron Judge had a hit and walked twice. 

German pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  German lost his fourth game of the season.  Zack Britton pitched to one batter and walked him, he then uncorked a wild pitch and left the game with an injury.  Ron Marinaccio pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two walks and striking out three, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and Scott Effross pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Jordan Lyles started for the Orioles and he pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Lyles won his 12th game of the season.  Felix Bautista pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and DL Hall pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Judge had a hit and two walks, Cabrera had two hits and an RBI and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit.  Cabrera hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Kiner-Falefa had a stolen base, Trevino committed an error and Chapman had a pickoff. 

Cedric Mullins drew two walks, Adley Rutschman drew a walk and Anthony Santander drew a walk.  Ryan Mountcastle had a hit and an RBI, Gunnar Henderson had a hit and drew a walk and Roughned Odor had a hit.  Austin Hays had a hit and drew a walk, Kyle Stowers drew a walk and Jorge Mateo had a hit.  Hays hit a double and the Orioles were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Mullins had two stolen bases and Odor was picked off. 

In the first Mountcastle hit an RBI single giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Cabrera tied the game with a solo homerun.  In the six a wild pitch allowed a run to score and give the Orioles a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees clinch AL East with win over the Toronto Blue Jays

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 5-2.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Aaron Judge in his quest for 61 walked four times, Gleyber Torres and Kyle Higashioka each had three hits. 

Taillon pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs.  He didn’t walk a batter and struck out six.  Taillon picked up his 14th win of the season.  Lou Trivino picked up his 11th save of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Jose Berrios started for the Blue Jays and he lost his seventh game of the season.  He pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and five runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Zach Pop pitched 2/3 of an inning givin gup a hit and he walked one, David Phelps pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts.  Anthony Bass pitched 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts. 

Judge drew four walks, Anthony Rizzo had two hits and an RBI and Torres had three hits and three RBI.  Oswaldo Cabrera had two hits, Higashioka had three hits and Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI.  Higashioka and Hicks each hit a double and the Yankees were 5-13 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Judge and Hicks each had an outfield assist. 

George Springer had two hits and an RBI, Bo Bichette had a hit and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a hit and an RBI.  Alejandro Kirk had a hit, Raimel Tapia had a hit and Whit Merrifield had a hit.  Cavan Biggio had a hit, Bichette hit a double and Springer hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Bichette committed an error and Tapia had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the first Springer hit a solo homerun to give the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the third Rizzo hit an RBI single to tie the score at one.  Torres hit an RBI single to make it 2-1 Yankees.  In the fifth Torres hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 3-1 for the Yankees.  In the sixth Hicks hit an RBI double and it was 4-1 Yankees.  Torres hit an RBI single and the lead was extended to 5-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Guerrero Jr. hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 5-2 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees with the win clinched the AL East.  It was their first division title since 2019 and 20th overall.  The Yankees will now play out the string and try to get Aaron Judge to break the AL record for homeruns which is 61.   

New York Yankees are walked off by the Toronto Blue Jays in ten innings

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 3-2 in ten innings.  Luis Severino made the start for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen was good.  Anthony Rizzo had two hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched four innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Lou Trivino pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Scott Effross pitched a perfect inning and Ron Marinaccio pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning and Clarke Schmidt took his fifth loss of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Kevin Gausman started for the Blue Jays and he pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up six hit and two runs.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Adam Cimber got both batters out that he faced, Yimi Garcia pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Jordan Romano pitched a perfect inning striking out the side.  Anthony Bass pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Tim Mayza won his eighth game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning with a walk. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew two walks, Rizzo had two hits and Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI.  Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Rizzo hit a double.  Kiner-Falefa hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Cabrera had a stolen base and Rizzo was caught stealing. 

Bo Bichette had two hits, Vlad Guerrero Jr. had two hits and an RBI and Alejandro Kirk drew two walks.  Matt Chapman had a hit, Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and two RBI and Danny Jansen had a hit and drew a walk.  Whit Merrifield had a hit, Hernandez hit a double and the Blue Jays were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Torres hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Kiner-Falefa hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Hernandez hit a two-run double and the game was tied at two.  In the bottom of the tenth Guerrero Jr. hit a walk-off single to give the Blue Jays a 3-2 win. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.  The Yankees will be looking to clinch the AL East Title with a victory.

Yankees have unbelievable ninth inning rally to steal win over the Pittsburgh Pirates as Aaron Judge hits 60th homer

 

The New York Yankees rallied to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-8.  Nestor Cortes started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen didn’t do so well.  Gleyber Torres, Josh Donaldson, Harrison Bader and Jose Trevino each had two hits to lead the Yankees offense.  Aaron Judge hit homerun number 60. 

Cortes pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and four strikeouts.  Ron Marinaccio pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk, Lou Trivino pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and three runs with two being earned.  He walked two and struck out one, Clay Holmes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman picked up his third win of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Luis Ortiz started for the Pirates and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five, Duane Underwood Jr. pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Robert Stephenson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Yohan Ramirez pitched a perfect inning.  Wil Crowe pitched giving up four hits and five runs with a walk and he didn’t record an out. 

Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo had a hit and Torres had two hits and drew a walk.  Donaldson had two hits, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk and Oswaldo Cabrera drew a walk.  Bader had two hits, three RBI, Trevino had two hits and an RBI and Rizzo hit a double.  Judge and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 6-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Rizzo committed an error. 

Bryan Reynolds had four hits and two RBI, Rodolfo Castro had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk and Diego Castillo had a hit.  Jack Suwinski had a hit and drew a walk, Kevin Newman had two hits and O’Neil Cruz drew three walks.  Greg Allen had an RBI, Jason Delay had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Delay hit a double, Reynolds and Castro each hit a homerun.  The Pirates were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Newman had a stolen base and Reynolds and Cruz each committed an error. 

In the fourth Allen hit a sac fly to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Bader hit an RBI single tying the game at one.  Trevino hit an RBI single and it was 2-1 Yankees.  In the sixth Delay hit a two-run double giving the Pirates a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Bader hit a two-run single giving the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  In the seventh Reynolds hit a solo homerun to tie the game at four.  In the eighth Reynolds hit an RBI single giving the Pirates a 5-4 lead, Castro hit a three-run homerun and it was 8-4 Pirates.  In the bottom of the ninth Judge led off hitting his 60th homerun and cutting the lead to 8-5.  After a double, walk and a single Stanton stepped up to the plate and hit a walk-off Grand Slam to give the Yankees the 9-8 victory.  The two teams will play game two of two on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees outslug the Milwaukee Brewers as Judge nears 60

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 12-8.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and wasn’t very good.  Aaron Judge led the offense with four hits and four RBI. 

Cole pitched five innings giving up four hits and four runs with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Cole won his 12th game of the season.  Clarke Schmidt pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with four strikeouts, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Wandy Peralta didn’t record an out and gave up three hits and two runs.  Clay Holmes pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Jason Alexander pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Hoby Milner pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and he took his third loss of the season.  Justin Topa pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two unearned runs and he walked one, Brent Suter pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Luis Perdomo pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Trevor Kelley pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts.

Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk, Willy Adames had two hits and drew a walk and Rowdy Tellez had a hit and two RBI.  Jace Peterson had a hit and two RBI, Hunter Renfroe drew a walk and Kolten Wong had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Luis Urias had a hit, Tyrone Taylor had three hits and an RBI.  Wong, Taylor, Adames and Peterson each hit a double.  Wong, Taylor and Tellez each hit a homerun.  The Brewers were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Adames had a stolen base and Wong committed an error. 

In the bottom of the first Wong hit a three-run homerun giving the Brewers a 3-0 lead.  In the second Cabrera hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the second Taylor hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 4-1.  In the third Judge hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2.  Rizzo hit a solo homerun going back-to-back and making it a 4-3 game.  In the fifth Stanton reached on a fielder’s choice and the game was tied at four.  Cabrera hit an RBI single, Higashioka hit a two-run single and it was 7-4 Yankees.  In the seventh Higashioka hit an RBI groundout to push the lead to 8-4.  Hicks hit a solo homerun and it was 9-4 Yankees.  Judge hit a solo homerun, his second of the game and 59th of the season to make it 10-4.  In the bottom of the eighth Tellez hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 10-6.  In the ninth Judge hit a two-run double making it 12-6 and in the bottom of the ninth Peterson hit a two-run double making it 12-8 which would be the final score. 

The Yankees will be off on Monday and then begin a two-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night. 

New York Yankees offense shutdown in loss to the Brewers

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.  The game took place at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 4-1.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched just ok, the bullpen was good.  The Yankees offense was very limited by Woodruff the Milwaukee pitcher. 

Taillon pitched five innings giving up four hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out four and lost his fifth game of the season.  Greg Weissert pitched a perfect inning, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Ron Marinaccio pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Brandon Woodruff won his 11th game of the season pitching eight inning and giving up five hits and a run with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Devin Williams pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and saved his 13th game of the season. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Josh Donaldson had a hit and an RBI.  Oswald Peraza had a hit, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Torres and Judge each hit a double.  Donaldson hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Peraza and Hicks each had a stolen base. 

Christian Yelich had two hits and an RBI, Willy Adames had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk and Hunter Renfroe drew a walk.  Luis Urias drew a walk, Victor Caratini drew a walk and Garrett Mitchell had a hit.  Yelich hit a double and Adames hit a homerun.  The Brewers were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Adames had a stolen base and he committed an error. 

In the bottom of the third Adames hit a three-run homerun to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Donaldson hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Yelich hit an RBI double extending the lead to 4-1.  4-1 would be the final score and the Yankees will try to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.   

New York Yankees blow lead and lose on a walk-off in the ninth to the Brewers

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.  The game took place at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 7-6.  Frankie Montas started for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good, the bullpen was good.  Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres, Oswaldo Cabrera and Aaron Hicks each had two hits. 

Montas pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Greg Weissert pitched to one batter and struck him out and Domingo German pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Wandy Peralta pitched to one batter and struck him out, Lou Trivino pitched an inning with three strikeouts, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and Clay Holmes lost his fourth game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up two hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout. 

Adrian Houser started for the Brewers and he pitched three innings giving up seven hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out one.  Peter Strzelecki pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Justin Topa pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out two and Hoby Milner pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout.  Brad Boxberger pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Devin Williams pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Taylor Rogers pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and he earned his fourth win and blew his ninth save of the season. 

Judge had two hits and drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk and Torres had two hits.  Josh Donaldson had a hit and three RBI, Cabrera had two hits and drew three walks and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Marwin Gonzalez had a hit and an RBI, Hicks had two hits and Torres, Hicks and Cabrera each hit a double.  Donaldson hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Kiner-Falefa committed an error. 

Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk, Willy Adames had two hits, four RBI and drew a walk and Rowdy Tellez had an RBI.  Hunter Renfroe had two hits, Kolten Wong had a hit and Andrew McCutchen drew two walks.  Jace Peterson drew two walks, Omar Narvaez had two hits and Victor Caratini drew a walk.  Garrett Mitchell had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Adames, Narvaez and Renfroe each hit a double.  Adames hit a homerun and the Brewers were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Wong committed an error and Narvaez had a passed ball. 

In the first Donaldson hit a sac fly and Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI single, Gonzalez hit an RBI single and it was 3-0 Yankees.  In the second Donaldson hit into a forceout and there was an error, two runs scored and the lead was extended to 5-0.  In the bottom of the second Adames hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the fourth Adames hit an RBI double and it was a 5-4 game.  Tellez hit a sac fly to tie the game at five.  In the bottom of the eighth Adames reached on a fielding error and a run scored making it 6-5 Brewers.  In the ninth Donaldson hit a solo homerun tying the game at six.  In the bottom of the ninth Mitchell hit an RBI walk-off single.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Yankees get shutout in Tampa

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 9-0.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen did not.  The Yankees offense only managed five hits. 

German pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out one and took his third loss of the season.  Greg Weissert pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with two strikeouts, Anthony Banda pitched giving up two hits and three runs with three walks and Marwin Gonzalez pitched to one batter getting him out. 

Jeffrey Springs started for the Rays and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four h its and no runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Springs won his seventh game of the season.  JT Chargois pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Colin Poche pitched to one batter and struck him out and Jason Adam pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Calvin Faucher pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

DJ LeMahieu drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Andrew Benintendi had a hit.  Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk, Jose Trevino had a hit and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit, Benintendi and Kiner-Falefa each hit a double and the Yankees were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Donaldson committed two errors and Weissert committed an error.  Cabrera had an outfield assist. 

Yandy Diaz had an RBI and drew two walks, Manuel Margot had three hits and two RBI and Harold Ramirez had two hits.  Randy Arozarena had a hit.  David Peralta had a hit and an RBI, Yu Chang had a hit and an RBI and Isaac Paredes drew a walk.  Jose Siri drew a walk, Christian Bethancourt had two hits and two RBI and Tyler Walls had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Ramirez hit a double and Bethancourt hit a homerun.  The Rays were 4-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Bethancourt committed an error. 

In the fourth Peralta hit an RBI single to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Bethancourt hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the eighth Chang hit a two-run single, Walls drew an RBI walk, Diaz drew an RBI walk and Margot hit a two-run single to make it 9-0 Rays and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Yankees roughed up the Boston Red Sox

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 12-5.  Nestor Cortes Jr. started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The bullpen did pitch well and the offense was led by Gleyber Torres who had three hits. 

Cortes pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Miguel Castro won his fifth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Albert Abreu pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Lucas Luetge pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out six.  Luetge saved his first game of the season. 

Connor Seabold started for the Red Sox and he pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs.  He walked two and struck out two and took his second loss of the season.  Michael Feliz pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with one of them being earned and he walked two and struck out four, Austin Davis pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs and he struck out one and Jackie Bradley Jr. pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three walks and a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Matt Carpenter had three hits and two RBI.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa had an RBI and drew a walk, Torres had three hits and two RBI and Josh Donaldson had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks had two hits and drew two walks, Jose Trevino had two hits and Marwin Gonzalez had had an RBI and drew a walk.  Joey Gallo had a hit and two RBI, Hicks, Carpenter, Trevino and Torres each hit a double and Gallo hit a triple.  Donaldson and Carpenter each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Donaldson and Gonzalez each had a stolen base. 

Rob Refsnyder had four hits, J.D. Martinez had three hits and a walk and Xander Bogaerts had an RBI.  Christian Vazquez had three hits and two RBI, Alex Verdugo drew a walk and Trevor Story had a hit and an RBI.  Christian Arroyo had a hit, Bobby Dalbec had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Vazquez and Refsnyder each hit a double.  Story and Dalbec each hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Vazquez committed an error. 

In the first Torres hit an RBI single and Donaldson a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Vazquez hit a two-run double cutting the lead to 4-2.  In the second Carpenter hit an RBI double pushing the Yankees lead to 5-2.  In the third Gallo hit a two-run triple extending the lead to 7-2.  Carpenter hit a solo homerun in the fourth making it 8-2 and Donaldson stole a base and scored on a throwing error making it 9-2.  In the bottom of the fourth Story hit a solo homerun and Dalbec hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 9-4.  In the bottom of the sixth Bogaerts hit an RBI groundout making it a 9-5 game.  In the seventh Gonzalez hit a sac bunt and a run scored, in the eighth Torres hit an RBI double and in the ninth IKF had an RBI walk making it 12-5 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have taken the first two games and will play game three of four on Saturday night.  The series will conclude on Sunday night.

New York Yankees pummel the Pittsburgh Pirates

 The New York Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night.  The game took place at 

PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the final score was 16-0.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees

And he pitched great and the bullpen was good.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa led the offense with four hits and 

DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge each had three hits.  


Severino pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with three strikeouts.  Severino won his fifth 

Game of the season.  Wandy Peralta pitched an inning and he struck out one, Aroldis Chapman pitched

An inning with a strikeout and Albert Abreu pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.  


Mitch Keller started for the Pirates and he pitched six innings giving up ten hits and four runs with a walk

And seven strikeouts.  Keller lost his sixth game of the season.  Tyler Beede pitched an inning giving up

New York Yankees win a nail biter over the Oakland Athletics

 The New York Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday. Night.  The game took place at 

Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  J.P. Sears started for the Yankees

And he pitched well, the bullpen was really good.  Marwin Gonzalez led the offense with two hits.  


Sears pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out one.  Sears

Improved to three wins and no losses on the season.  Ron Marinaccio pitched to one batter and struck him 

Out, Wandy Peralta pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Michael King

Pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Clay Holmes earned his 13th save

Of the season pitching an inning with two hits and a run which was unearned and he struck out two.

New York Yankees storm back to defeat the Oakland Athletics

The New York Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics on Monday night.  The game took place at 

Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-5.  Jordan Montgomery started for the 

Yankees and he pitched ok, he had one bad inning but gutted it out, pitching into the 7th inning.  

Albert Abreu pitched great and Marwin Gonzalez led the offense with two hits.  

Montgomery pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  

Abreu who picked up his first win of the season pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out

4 batters.  


Paul Blackburn started for the Athletics and he pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs.

He walked two and struck out seven, Adam Oller pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two runs with one being

Earned.  He walked three batters, A.J. Puk pitched giving up a hit and three runs with two being earned.

Austin Pruitt pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Kirby Snead pitched an inning with

A walk.

Homerun to pull the Yankees to 5-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Judge hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 

5-3.  In the bottom of the seventh a run scored on a catchers interference and Donaldson hit a two-run

Double giving the Yankees a 6-5 lead.  Trevino hit a two-run double and Gonzalez hit an RBI single

Pushing the lead to 9-5 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees fall in Tampa Bay

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.  The game took place at 

Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score of the game was 5-4.  Nestor Cortes Jr. 

started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well and the bullpen was good.  DJ LeMahieu and 

Marwin Gonzalez each had two hits to lead the offense.

Walks and two strikeouts.  Shawn Armstrong pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.

Armstrong won his first game of the season, Matt Wisler pitched two innings giving up a hit and he 

Struck out one, Ryan Thompson pitched an inning with a strikeout and Brooks Raley pitched 1 1/3 

Innings giving up two walks and he struck out two.  Jason Adam pitched 2/3 of an inning and Colin

Poche pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Poche saved his fifth

Gonzalez had two hits and two RBI including a double and LeMahieu hit a double.  Gonzalez hit a homer.  

The Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  


Yandy Diaz had a hit, Isaac Paredes had three hits and four RBI and Harold Ramirez had two hits and an

RBI.  Randy Arozarena had a hit, Taylor Walls had a hit including a double.  Ramirez hit a double, 

Paredes hit three homeruns and Ramirez hit a homerun.  The Rays were 0-3 with runners in scoring 

Position and left four men on base.  Mejia had a passed ball.  


In the first Paredes hit a solo homerun and Ramirez hit a solo homerun making it 2-0 Rays.  In the second

LeMahieu hit a two-run single to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the third Paredes hit a solo homer

To give the Rays a 3-2 lead and in the bottom of the fifth Paredes hit a two-run homer pushing the lead

To 5-2.  In the ninth Gonzalez hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 5-4 but that would be the final.

New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 4-2.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he was great.  Anthony Rizzo, Josh Donaldson and Aaron Hicks each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Cole pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with three walks and 12 strikeouts.  Clay Holmes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Wandy Peralta picked up his second win of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Shane McClanahan started for the Rays and he pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Ryan Thompson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a unearned run with two strikeouts, Calvin Faucher pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Jason Adam pitched an inning giving up two hits and atwo runs and he took his second loss of the season. 

Aaron Judge drew a walk, Rizzo had two hits and an RBI and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Donaldson had two hits, Hicks had two hits and an RBI and Jose Trevino had an RBI and drew a walk.  Torres hit a double and Hicks hit a triple.  Rizzo hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Torres and Judge each had a stolen base and LeMahieu committed an error. 

Yandy Diaz had an RBI, Manuel Margot had a hit and an RBI and Ji-Man Choi drew two walks.  Vidal Brujan drew a walk, Brett Phillips drew a walk and Isaac Paredes had a hit.  Josh Lowe drew a walk, Francisco Mejia had a hit and Mejia hit a double.  The Rays were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Choi committed an error. 

In the first Rizzo hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Trevino reached on an error and a run scored pushing the Yankees lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the eighth Diaz hit an RBI groundout and Margot hit an RBI single tying the game at two.  In the top of the ninth Hicks hit an RBI triple and Trevino hit a sac fly making it 4-2 Yankees and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees defeat the Minnesota Twins with some good offense

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 10-4.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well, the bullpen was great.  DJ LeMahieu led the offense with three hits and three other players had two hits. 

Taillon pitched four innings giving up nine hits and four runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge picked up his second win of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up a hit, Wandy Peralta pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Ron Marinaccio pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Cole Sands started for the Twins and he pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Sands also lost his second game of the season.  Juan Minaya pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three walks and three strikeouts, Yennier Cano pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two walks and he struck out one and Tyler Duffey pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Trevor Megill pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had three hits, an RBI and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and three RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had two hits and drew two walks and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit.  Jose Trevino had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Joey Gallo had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Judge, Stanton and Rizzo each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base.  Rizzo, Donaldson and Luetge each committed an error. 

Luis Arraez had two hits, Byron Buxton had a hit and Jorge Polanco had four hits and two RBI.  Max Kepler had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Gio Urshela had two hits and Gilberto Celestino had a hit.  Jermaine Palacios  had a hit and an RBI, Buxton and Polanco each hit a double and Polanco hit a homerun.  The Twins were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first Judge hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Stanton hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the first Kepler hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the third Polanco hit an RBI double making it 3-2.  In the fourth Judge hit an RBI single pushing the Yankees lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the fourth Palacios hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 4-3.  In the fifth LeMahieu drew an RBI walk making it a 5-3 game.  In the bottom of the fifth Polanco hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-4.  In the seventh Rizzo hit a three-run homerun extending the Yankees lead to 8-4.  In the eighth Trevino hit an RBI single and Gallo hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 10-4 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers in extra innings to sweep the series

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Sunday morning.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen had a little bit of trouble.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with one walk and five strikeouts.  Clarke Schmidt pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Miguel Castro pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Wandy Peralta pitched a perfect inning.  Michael King won his third game of the season pitching a perfect inning, striking out the side. 

Rony Garcia started for the Tigers and he pitched five innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Alex Lange pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout, Michael Fulmer pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Gregory Soto pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and he took his third loss of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu had an RBI and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.  Josh Donaldson had a hit and an RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI and Kiner-Falefa had two hits.  Matt Carpenter drew a walk, Joey Gallo had a hit and two RBI and Donaldson hit a double.  Gallo hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Kiner-Falefa and Rizzo had a stolen base and Gallo had an outfield assist. 

Willi Castro had a hit, Miguel Cabrera had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Javier Baez had two hits and two RBI.  Daz Cameron had two hits and an RBI, Eric Haase drew a walk and Cameron, Baez and Castro each hit a double.  The Tigers were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Schoop and Castro each committed an error and Castro had an outfield assist. 

In the fourth Baez hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  Cameron hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Gallo hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the seventh LeMahieu drew an RBI walk to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the eighth Cabrera hit an RBI single to tie the game at three.  Baez hit an RBI single to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Torres reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored to tie the game at four.  In the bottom of the tenth Donaldson hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 5-4 walk-off win. 

The Yankees swept the three-game series and the six game homestand.  They will have a day off on Monday and head to Minnesota to take on the Twins on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees shutout the Detroit Tigers

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched brilliantly.  The offense only managed four hits but that would be good enough. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up one hit and no runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Severino earned his fourth win of the season.  Michael King pitched an inning with a strikeout and Clay Holmes pitched an inning with a strikeout and picked up his eighth save of the season. 

Beau Brieske started for the Tigers and he pitched six innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  He took his fifth loss of the season.  Jason Foley pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Joe Jimenez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks.  Andrew Chafin pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. 

Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had an RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and an RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Kyle Higashioka drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, Stanton hit a double and Judge and Rizzo each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Miguel Cabrera had a hit, Derek Hill drew a walk and the Tigers left one man on base. 

In the bottom of the first Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Rizzo hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 2-0 and in the bottom of the eighth Donaldson hit a sac fly to make it 3-0 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday morning.   

New York Yankees blowout the Detroit Tigers

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 13-0.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched great and the offense was led by Aaron Judge who had four hits.  There were four other players who had two hits. 

Cole pitched seven innings giving up two hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out nine and earned his fifth win of the season.  Manny Banuelos pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Elvin Rodriguez started for the Tigers and he pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up 11 hits and ten runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  He lost his first game of the season.  Jacob Barnes pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Will Vest pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Harold Castro pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Judge had four hits and two RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and three RBI.  Josh Donaldson drew two walks, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Matt Carpenter had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits, Jose Trevino had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI.  Kiner-Falefa hit two doubles and LeMahieu hit a double.  Trevino hit a triple and Trevino, Judge, Rizzo and Carpenter each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Jonathan Schoop had a hit, Miguel Cabrera had a hit and Tucker Barnhart had a hit.  The Tigers were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Castro and Clemens each had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the third Trevino hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Judge hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Trevino hit a two-run triple extending the lead to 4-0.  Hicks hit an RBI single and it was 5-0 Yankees.  In the bottom of the fifth Rizzo hit a three-run homerun pushing the lead to 8-0.  Carpenter hit a two-run homerun and it was 10-0 Yankees.  LeMahieu hit a two-run single making it 12-0 and in the bottom of the eighth Judge hit an RBI single extending the lead to 13-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.

New York Yankees rout the Anaheim Angels

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Anaheim Angels on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-1.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and pitched well and Jose Trevino paced the offense with three hits. 

Montgomery pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts and he won his first game of the season.  Miguel Castro pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and David McKay pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two. 

Noah Syndergaard started for the Angels and lost his third game of the season.  He pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk.  Kenny Rosenberg pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts and Archie Bradley pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had tow hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had an RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had an RBI and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had two hits and an RBI, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Matt Carpenter had a hit and two RBI.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit, Trevino had three hits and two RBI and Joey Gallo had two hits and drew a walk.  Rizzo, Torres, LeMahieu and Gallo each hit a double.  Carpenter and Trevino each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Andujar had a stolen base and Torres was caught stealing.  Trevino had a pickoff. 

Shohei Ohtani had a hit, Matt Duffy had a hit and drew a walk and Luis Rengifo had a hit and an RBI.  Max Stassi drew a walk, Jared Walsh had two hits and Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk.  Andrew Velazquez had a hit, Ohtani and Lagares each hit a double and Rengifo hit a homerun.  The Angels were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Walsh and Velasquez each had a stolen base and Duffy was picked off.  Lagares had an outfield assist. 

In the first Rizzo hit an RBI double, Torres hit an RBI double and Carpenter hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second LeMahieu hit an RBI double to push the lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the sixth LeMahieu reached on a fielder’s choice making it 6-0.  Judge hit a sac fly and the lead was extended to 7-0.  In the seventh Rengifo hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 7-1 and in the bottom of the eighth Trevino hit a two-run homerun making it 9-1 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.
