New York Yankees fall to the Tampa Bay Rays as offense is silent



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 5-1.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well, Chad Green pitched well in relief.  Chase Headley had two hits and Arod had a hit in a pinch hit at bat. 

Nova pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  He lost his sixth game of the season.  Green pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up a hit and no runs with three walks and five strikeouts. 

Jake Odorizzi pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and no runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  He won his fifth game of the season.  Kevin Jepsen pitched to one batter and retired him, Dylan Floro pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Xavier Cedeno pitched to one batter and retired him.  Erasmo Ramirez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and Alex Colome pitched 2/3 of an inning and earned his 23rd save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  Brian McCann had a hit, Mark Teixeira had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Headley had two hits, Rob Refsnyder had a hit and Rodriguez had a hit.  The Yankees were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Logan Forsythe had two hits and an RBI, Brad Miller had two hits and Evan Longoria had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Corey Dickerson had a hit and two RBI.  Steve Pearce had a hit and drew two walks, Kevin Kiermaier drew a walk and Steven Souza Jr. had an RBI.  Brandon Guyer drew a walk, Luke Maile drew a walk and Miller and Longoria each hit a double.  Miller hit a triple, Forsythe and Dickerson each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Guyer and Kiermaier each had a stolen base. 

IN the first Forsythe and Dickerson each hit a solo homerun to put the Rays up 2-0.  In the third Dickerson grounded into a force out and a run scored to push the lead to 3-0 Rays.  Longoria hit an RBI double in the fifth to make it a 4-0 game.  Souza Jr. hit a sac fly and it was 5-0 still in the fifth.  In the eighth Teixeira hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday evening. 

The New York Mets lose their third straight game



The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field and the final score was 6-1.  Steven Matz started and he pitched ok and the bullpen didn't pitch very well.  James Loney and Neil Walker led the offense with two hits each. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up ten hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts and he took his seventh loss of the season.  Erik Goeddel pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Antonio Bastardo pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Tyler Chatwood won his tenth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up three hits and a run with four walks and four strikeouts.  Jake McGee pitched giving up two hits and not recording an out, Scott Oberg pitched a perfect inning and Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk, Loney had two hits and an RBI and Walker had two hits.  Michael Conforto drew two walks, Matz drew a walk and Alejandro De Aza had a hit.  Loney hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Charlie Blackmon had four hits, D.J. LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk and Nolan Arenado drew a walk.  Carlos Gonzalez had two hits and four RBI, Trevor Story had a hit and Mark Reynolds had two hits and an RBI.  David Dahl had two hits, Nick Hundley had a hit and an RBI and Gonzalez and Reynolds each hit a double.  Blackmon hit two doubles and Reynolds and Gonzalez each hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  LeMahieu and Blackmon each had a stolen base. 

In the first Gonzalez hit an RBI double to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead.  In the second Loney hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the sixth Hundley hit an RBI single to give the Rockies back the lead at 2-1.  In the eighth Reynolds hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-1.  Gonzalez hit a three run homerun in the ninth to push the lead to 6-1 Rockies and that would be the final score. 

The Mets have lost three straight games and are out of the playoff picture at the moment and heading the wrong way.  The two teams will play game three on Saturday night.

New York Mets blow lead for second straight day as they fall to the Colorado Rockies



The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and was great and Jeurys Familia blew his second straight save.  Neil Walker and Rene Rivera each had three hits. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up five hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Jerry Blevins struck out the only batter that he faced and Familia blew his second save of the season and lost his third game of the season.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Hansel Robles pitched to two batters and struck out one. 

Tyler Anderson pitched six innings giving up seven hits and a run with no walks and five strikeouts.  Jake McGee gave up two hits and a walk and didn't record an out, Scott Oberg pitched an inning striking out one and Jordan Lyles pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one and he won his third game of the season.  Carlos Estevez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  

Wilmer Flores had a hit, Walker had three hits and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit.  James Loney had a hit, Rivera had three hits and an RBI and Alejandro De Aza had a hit.  Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk, Rivera hit two doubles and Walker and De Aza each hit a double.  The Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Loney committed an error.

LeMahieu had a hit and Carlos Gonzalez had a hit.  Trevor Story had two hits, David Dahl had two hits and drew a walk and Daniel Descalso had a hit.  Tony Wolters had a hit, Anderson drew a walk and Cristhian Adames had an RBI.  The Rockies were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Story had a stolen base, Arenado committed an error and Gonzalez had an outfield assist. 

In the second Rivera hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Adames reached on an error and the game was tied at one.  A wild pitch made it 2-1 and that was the final score.  The teams will play game two on Friday night.   

New York Yankees can't complete the sweep in Houston



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well.  The bullpen was good  and Didi Gregorius led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Tanaka lost his third game of the season and he pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Adam Warren pitched an inning giving up a hit and Luis Severino pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out three. 

Lance McCullers pitched six innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and ten strikeouts.  He won his sixth game of the season.  Ken Giles pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Luke Gregerson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Will Harris pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and he saved his 11th game of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk and Brian McCann had a hit and an RBI.  Mark Teixeira had a hit, Gregorius had two hits and Starlin Castro drew a walk.  McCann hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Marwin Gonzalez had a hit, Jose Altuve had two hits and Carlos Correa had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Colby Rasmus had a hit and two RBI, Preston Tucker drew a walk and Alex Bregman drew a walk.  Carlos Gomez had a hit and an RBI, Jake Marisnick had a hit and Jason Castro had a hit.  Castro and Marisnick each hit a double and Rasmus hit a homerun.  The Astros were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gomez had a stolen base and Marisnick was caught stealing and Castro had a passed ball. 

In the second Gomez hit an RBI single to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the third Correa hit an RBI single to make it 2-0.  Rasmus hit a two run homerun to push the Astros lead to 4-0.  In the fourth McCann hit a solo homerun to make it 4-1. 

The Yankees won two out of three in this series and will be off on Thursday.  They will head to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays in a three game series beginning on Friday night.

The New York Yankees win second in a row in Houston



The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 6-3.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and pitched well.  Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  He won his sixth game of the season.  Anthony Swarzak pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched 1/3 of an inning walking two and striking out one and Andrew Miller saved his ninth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and struck out two. 

Doug Fister pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and six runs with three walks and three strikeouts and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Chris Devenski pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one, Tony Sipp pitched an inning giving up two hits and struck out three and Michael Feliz pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Ellsbury had three hits and Carlos Beltran had two hits.  Brian McCann had a hit, Mark Teixeira had two hits and drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Starllin Castro had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit and two RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit and two RBI, Teixeira and Ellsbury each hit a double and Hicks hit a triple.  The Yankees were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Ellsbury was caught stealing. 

George Springer drew a walk, Marwin Gonzalez had two hits and two RBI and Carlos Correa drew two walks.  Evan Gattis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Alex Bregman drew a walk and Carlos Gomez had two hits.  Preston Tucker had a hit which was a double and Gonzalez and Gattis each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Gonzalez hit a solo homerun giving the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gregorius hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  Headley hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-1.  In the third Castro hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 3-1.  Headley hit a sac fly in the fifth to make it a 4-1 game, still in the fifth Hicks hit a two run triple and it was 6-1 Yankees.  In the seventh Gattis hit a solo homerun and in the eighth Gonzalez hit a solo homerun making it 6-3. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of their series on Wednesday night.  The Yankees will then be off on Thursday and head to Tampa Bay on Friday to begin a three game series.   

New York Mets split a doubleheader with the St. Louis Cardinals



The New York Mets were defeated and defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon/evening.  The games took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final scores were 3-2 in the first game won by the Cardinals and then 3-1 in the second game won by the Mets.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets in the first game and he pitched pretty well and the bullpen pitched well.  Curtis Granderson led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out eight and lost his fifth game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a hit, Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning striking out the only batter that he faced and Erik Goeddel pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.  Antonio Bastardo pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Carlos Martinez won his tenth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up five hits nad two runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Tyler Lyons pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Kevin Siegrist pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Seung Hwan Oh pitched an inning giving up a hit and he earned his fifth save of the season. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Granderson had two hits and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk.  James Loney had a hit and drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and Rene Rivera had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Syndergaard drew a walk, Cespedes hit a double and Rivera hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Syndergaard committed an error and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Greg Garcia had a hit and drew a walk, Aledmys Diaz had a hit and Matt Adams drew two walks.  Jedd Gyorko had a hit and two RBI, Yadier Molina had two hits and Jeremy Hazaelbaker had a hit.  Tommy Pham had two hits, Molina and Garcia each hit a double and Gyorko hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six runners on base.  Pham was caught stealing and Diaz committed an error. 

In the second inning Martinez reached on a throwing error and a run scored to make it 1-0 Cardinals.  In the third Gyorko hit a two run homerun to push the Cardinals lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Rivera hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 3-2 but that would be as close as the Mets would come.  The final score would be 3-2. 

In the nightcap Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with eight strikeouts.  Colon won his ninth game of the season.  Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and he saved his 36th save of the season. 

Jaime Garcia pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out four and lost his seventh game of the season.  Matt Bowman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and struck out two, Sam Tuivailala pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dean Kiekhefer pitched a perfect inning. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Cabrera had a hit and two RBI and Wilmer Flores had three hits.  Neil Walker drew a walk, Alejandro De Aza had a hit and drew a walk, he hit a double and so did Cabrera and Flroes.  The Mets  2-14 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Lagares had two stolen bases. 

Garcia had two hits, Gyorko had a hit and an RBI and Alberto Rosario had a hit.  Rosario hit a double and Gyorko hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Grichuk committed an error. 

In the second Gyorko hit a solo homerun to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the third Cabrera hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Loney hit into a double play and a run scored to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Cabrera hit a sac fly to push the Mets lead to 3-1.  The final score would be 3-1.  The two teams will finish their series on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees begin road trip with a win in Houston



The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Monday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 2-1.  The day started with the Yankees trading away their closer Aroldis Chapman for four players and ended with new closer or old closer depending on how you look at it closing it out.  Michael Pineda started and pitched really well and the bullpen closed it out.  Carlos Beltran, Chase Headley and Austin Romine each had two hits. 

Pineda pitched seven innings giving up a run on five hits.  He walked two and struck out eight and won his fifth game of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and saved his eighth game of the season. 

Dallas Keuchel pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his 10th game of the season.  Luke Gregerson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit. 

Beltran had two hits, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Headley had two hits and an RBI.  Romine had two hits and an RBI, Gregorius, Beltran and Romine each hit a double.  The Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Torreyes had a stolen base and Castro committed an error. 

George Springer had a hit and an RBI, Jose Altuve had a hit and Carlos Correa drew a walk.  Luis Valbuena had three hits and drew a walk, Carlos Gomez had a hit and Springer hit a homerun.  The Astros were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Valbuena and a Gomez had a stolen base. 

In the first Springer hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Headley hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Romine hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.   

The New York Mets shutout the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 3-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched really well and the bullpen did a good job.  Michael Conforto had two hits to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  He won his eighth game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning and saved his 35th game of the season. 

Jose Urena lost his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four htis and a run.  He walked none and struck out four.  Mike Dunn pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk, David Phelps pitched to one batter and retired him and Kyle Barraclough pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Dustin McGowan pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two batters. 

Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI, Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI.  James Loney had a hit and an RBI, Kelly Johnson drew a walk and Conforto had two hits.  Juan Lagares drew a walk, Reyes hit a triple and the Mets were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Martin Prado had three hits and drew a walk, Christian Yelich had a hit and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk.  Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit and the Marlins were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the third Reyes hit an RBI triple to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Cespedes hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0 and Loney hit an RBI single making it 3-0 which would be the final score. 

The Mets won two out of three in the series and will head home to take on the St. Louis Cardinals beginning on Monday night.

The New York Mets are not able to win second in a row over the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets  were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 7-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he did not pitch well.  Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cespedes each had two hits. 

deGrom started and pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and five runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  He lost his fifth game of the season.  Seth Lugo pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout, Antonio Bastardo pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and Jerry Blevins pitched to a batter and gave up a hit.  Erik Goeddel pitched a perfect inning. 

Jose Fernandez won his 12th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Fernando Rodney pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two and Nick Wittgren pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Granderson had two hits and Cespedes had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  James Loney had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit.  deGrom had a hit, Alejandro De Aza had a hit and deGrom hit a double and the Mets were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Cespedes committed an error and he had an outfield assist. 

J.T. Realmuto had a hit, Martin Prado had two hits and two RBI and Christian Yelich had three hits and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had four hits and three RBI, Marcell Ozuna had a hit and drew a walk and Derek Dietrich had an RBI and drew a walk.  Charles Johnson drew a walk, Adeiny Hechavarria  had two hits and Fernandez had two hits and an RBI.  Rojas had a hit, Hechavarria and Ozuna each hit a double and Stanton hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

In the second Fernandez hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the third Cespedes hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Loney hit a sac fly and it was 2-1 Mets.  In the bottom of the third Stanton hit a two run homerun to give the Marlins back the lead at 3-2.  Stanton hit an RBI single in the fourth to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the fourth Dietrich drew an RBI walk to make it a 5-2 game.  Prado hit an RBI single to make it 6-2 in the fifth.  In the seventh Prado hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-2.   The 7-2 was the final score.

New York Yankees win the rubber game over the San Francisco Giants



The New York Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen did a pretty good job.  Carlos Beltran had two hits to lead the offense. 

Eovaldi pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  He won his ninth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and walked him and Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out one. 

Jeff Samardzija pitched 5 2/3 innings and giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  He lost his sixth game of the season and George Kontos pitched 2 1/3 perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Beltran had two hits and an RBI and Brian McCann had a hit.  Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI and Mark Teixeira had a hit and an RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Gregorius hit a double and Beltran and Teixeira each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-4 with runners in scoring positon and left two men on base. 

Angel Pagan had three hits, Brandon Belt drew two walks and Buster Posey had two hits and two RBI.  Brandon Crawford had a hit, Conor Gillaspie had a hit and drew a walk and Mac Williamson had two hits.  Ramiro Pena had a hit, Pagan hti a double and a triple.  The Giants were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 

In the first Beltran hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Teixeira hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the sixth Ellsbury hit into a double play but a run scored to make it 3-0 Yankees.  In the sixth Castro hit an RBI single and Gregorius an RBI double to push the Yankees lead to 5-0.  In the seventh Posey hit a two run single to make it a 5-2 game and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees drop a tough one to the San Francisco Giants in extra innings



The New York Yankees were defeated by the San Francisco Giants on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1 in 12 innings.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen also pitched well.  Didi Gregorius had two hits to lead the offense. 

Nova pitched seven innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Andrew Miller pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Aroldis Chapman pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Anthony Swarzak pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and he took his first loss of the season.  Richard Bleier pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Johnny Cueto started for the Giants and he pitched six innings giving up six hits and an unearned run with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Derek Law pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Javier Lopez pitched an inning giving up a hit and Sergio Romo pitched to two batters and retired them both.  Josh Osich pitched an inning walking two, Santiago Casilla won his second game of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Hunter Strickland saved his second game of the season pitching an inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and Carlos Beltran had a hit and drew a walk.  Brian McCann had a hit, Gregorius had two hits and Mark Teixeira had a hit.  Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk and the Yankees were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Gardner had an outfield assist. 

Denard Span had a hit, Angel Pagan had a hit and drew two walks and Brandon Belt had a hit and drew a walk.  Jarrett Parker had a hit, Trevor Brown had a hit and Grant Green had a hit.  Mac Williamson had two hits and two RBI.  Ramiro Pena had a hit which was a double.  Green and Brown each hit a double and Williamson hit a homerun.  The Giants were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Pagan had a stolen base and Williamson and Pagan each committed an error.  Posey had a passed ball and Pagan an outfield assist. 

In the fourth Teixeira hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Williamson hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the 12th Williamson hit an RBI single to give the Giants a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will also complete their ten game home stand and head to the road to take on the Houston Astros beginning Monday night.
