New York Yankees defeat the Detroit Tigers and record a no hitter


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida and the final score was 3-0 and the Yankees also had a combined no hitter.  Masahiro Tanaka started and Chasen Shreve and Jordan Montgomery finished it.  The Yankees offense had seven hits but no one had more than a hit. 

Tanaka pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up no hits or runs and two walks with six strikeouts.  Shreve retired the two batters that he faced with a strikeout and Montgomery pitched four perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Tyler Wade had a hit and Gary Sanchez drew a walk.  Matt Holliday had a hit, Wilken Castillo had a hit and Greg Bird drew two walks.  Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI, Rob Refsnyder had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Ronald Torreyes had a hit and an RBI.  Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Holliday, Headley, Refsnyder and Wade each hit a double and the Yankees were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Wade had a stolen base and Torres committed an error. 

In the fourth Headley hit an RBI double, Refsnyder hit an RBI double and Torreyes an RBI single to make it 3-0 Yankees and that was all they needed.   

The New York Mets blow out the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets blew out the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 16-2.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and pitched pretty well.  Wilmer Flores led the offense with a couple of hits and six RBI. 

Matz pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three walks and three strikeouts.  Matz picked up the win.  Paul Sewald pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a couple of strikeouts.  Jerry Blevins pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew two walks, Ian Strom had an RBI and Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and drew a walk.  Yoenis Cespedes had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Michael Conforto had two hits and Neil Walker had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Gavin Cecchini had a hit, Jay Bruce had a hit and two RBI and Travis Taijeron had a hit.  Lucas Duda had a hit and drew a walk, Flores had two hits, six RBI and drew a walk and Ty Kelly had a hit and an RBI.  Travis d’Arnaud had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Xorge Carrillo had a hit and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Granderson, Dduda, Flores, Carrillo and Conforto each hit a double.  Flores hit a homerun and the Mets were 9-17 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Alonso committed an error.  Matz had a pickoff. 

In the first Cespedes hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Bruce hit an RBI single to make it a 2-0 game, Flores hit a two-run double to push the lead to 4-0.  In the second Eric Fryer hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the second Walker drew an RBI walk, Bruce hit a sac fly and Flores hit a grand-slam to give the Mets a 10-1 lead.  In the third Cespedes hit an RBI single, Walker hit an RBI single and d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 14-1 lead.  In the sixth Strom hit an RBI ground out to make it a 15-1 game and in the seventh Jose Adolis Garcia hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 15-2.  The Mets added one more run in the seventh on a Kelly RBI single to make it 16-2 and that would be the final score.   

New York Mets lose to the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida and the final score was 3-1.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  The Mets offense only managed one hit. 

Wheeler pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He took the loss.  Tom Gorzelanny pitched two two batteres and retired them both, Ben Rowen pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Josh Smoker pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Josh Edgin pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Beck Wheeler pitched a perfect inning. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and that was it for the offense.  Cabrera hit a double and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base. 

In the first Bryce Harper hit a solo homerun to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the second Stephen Drew hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Ryan Zimmerman hit an RBI single and it was 3-0 Nationals.  Lucas Duda reached on a fielding error in the seventh to cut the lead to 3-1 and that would be the final score.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 6-2.  Matt Harvey made the start for the Mets and pitched ok.  Tim Tebow and Luis Guillorme each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with only two being earned.  He walked one and struck out three and took his third loss of the spring.  Erik Goeddel pitched to two batters and retired them both, Rafael Montero pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with four walks and three strikeouts and  Tim Peterson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Michael Conforto had a hit, John Mora had a hit and Phillip Evans had an RBI.  Wilmer Flores had a hit, Dominic Smith drew a walk and Travis d’Arnaud drew a walk.  Colton Plaia had a hit, Tebow had two hits and Guillorme had two hits and an RBI.  Conforto, Mora and Plaia each hit a double and the Mets were 2-13 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Harvey committed two errors and Reynolds committed an error.  Conforto had an outfield assist and so did Mora. 

In the first J.T. Realmuto hit a sac fly to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the second Matt den Dekker hit a sac fly to increase the lead to 2-0 Marlins.  In the fourth den Dekker hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the sixth Miguel Rojas hit a two-run single to make it 6-0 Marlins.  In the seventh Guillorme hit an RBI single to put the Mets on the board at 6-1.  In the eighth Evans hit an RBI ground out to make it 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 11-5.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and he did not pitch well.  Bryan Mitchell and James Kaprielian did pitch well.  Aaron Hicks, Clint Frazier, Ronald Torreyes and Starlin Castro each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Cessa pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Ben Heller pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two, Mitchell pitched three innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts and Kaprielian won the game pitching two innings with a walk and three strikeouts.  J.R. Graham pitched a perfect inning, striking out the side. 

Hicks had two hits and an RBI, Frazier had two hits and two RBI and Torreyes had two hits.  Donovan Solano had a hit, Castro had two hits and an RBI and Chris Carter had an RBI and drew a walk.  Tyler Wade had a hit, Billy McKinney had an RBI and drew a walk and Wilken Castillo had a hit and two RBI.  Rob Refsnyder had a hit and an RBI, Ji-Man Choi had a hit and two RBI and Dustin Fowler drew a walk.  Mason Williams had a hit and two RBI, Hicks, Castro, Refsnyder and Frazier each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Mitchell and Tejada each committed an error. 

In the first Carter hit an RBI ground out to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a two-run single to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead.  Melvin Upton Jr. hit an RBI single and it was 3-1 Blue Jays.  In the second Ezequiel Carrera hit an RBI single to extend the Blue Jays lead to 4-1.  In the third Hicks hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-2.  Castro hit a solo homerun in the third and it was 4-3.  In the fourth Refsnyder hit a solo homerun to tie the game at four.  In the sixth Ryan Goins hit an RBI triple to give the Blue Jays back the lead at 5-4.  Frazier hit a solo homerun in the seventh to tie the game at five.  In the eighth Choi hit an RBI groundout and Williams hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 7-5 lead.  McKinney reached on a fielding error in the ninth to make it 8-5 and then Choi hit an RBI single and Williams hit a sac fly with Frazier hitting an RBI single to finish the scoring at 11-5.   

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 3-1.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he was perfect.  Aroldis Chapman and Chad Green also pitched well.  Gary Sanchez and Greg Bird each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Pineda pitched five perfect innings to pick up his second win of the spring.  He also struck out eight batters.  Chapman pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Green pitched three innings giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts to pick up the save. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Rob Refsnyder drew a walk and Dustin Fowler had an RBI.  Sanchez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Bird had two hits and an RBI and Chase Headley had a hit.  Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit which was a double and Bird hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Headley had a stolen base. 

In the second Bird hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Sanchez hit an RBI single to extend the Yankees lead to 2-0.  In the seventh Maikel Franco hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Fowler hit a sac fly to make it a 3-1 game and that would be the final score.

The New York Yankees fall to the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.  The game took place at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Florida and the final score was 10-6.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Greg Bird had two hits to lead the Yankees offense. 

Severino pitched three innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts.  Jon Niese pitched an inning giving up a run and a walk with two strikeouts, Johnny Barbato took the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and five runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Dietrich Enns pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with four walks and a strikeout.  Jonathan Holder pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jason Gurka pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Ronald Torreyes had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI and Kyle Higashioka drew a walk.  Bird had two hits, Ji-Man Choi had a hit and drew a walk and Chase Headley drew two walks.  Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Tyler Wade had a hit, Gleyber Torres had two hits and three RBI and Torres and Bird each hit a double.  Bird hit a triple and Sanchez and Torres each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Frazier and Sanchez each had a stolen base and Torres and Frazier each committed an error.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

In the first Sanchez hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Torres hit an RBI double to extend the Yankees lead to 2-0.  Torreyes hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0 and in the bottom of the second Rickie Weeks Jr. hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Dayron Varona hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at three.  Weeks Jr. hit a two-run double in the fifth to give the Rays a 5-3 lead.  Tim Beckham drew an RBI walk to push the Rays lead to 6-3.  Varona drew an RBI walk and it was 7-3 Rays.  In the sixth Torres hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-5.  In the bottom of the sixth Michael McKenry drew an RBI walk to extend the Rays lead to 8-5.  Willy Adames hit a two-run single to make it 10-5 Rays.  In the ninth Andujar hit an RBI single and cut the lead to 10-6 which was the final score.

New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 6-4.  Noah Syndergaard started and he didn’t pitch that well.  Asdrubal Cabrera and Neil Walker each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Josh Edgin pitched to two batters and struck them both out, Robert Gsellman pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out won.  Gsellman picked up the win, Ben Rowen pitched a perfect inning and Chasen Bradford pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and he picked up the save. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and an RBI, John Mora had a hit and Cabrera had two hits and an RBI.  Luis Guillorme had an RBI, Walker had two hits and two RBI and Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit, Tim Tebow had a hit and Phillip Evans had a hit.  Walker and Cabrera each hit a double.  Cabrera, Duda, Granderson and Walker each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.

In the first Cabrera hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Duda hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  Granderson hit a solo homerun in the third to make it a 3-0 game.  Marcell Ozuna hit an RBI double in the fourth and it was a 3-1 game.  Justin Bour hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at three in the fourth.  In the sixth Walker hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 5-3 lead.  In the seventh Guillorme grounded into a force out and a run scored pushing the Mets lead to 6-3.  In the ninth Ramon Cabrera hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 6-4 and that was the final score.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  Adam Wilk started for the Mets and pitched well.  Phillip Evans led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Wilk pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a walk with a strikeout, Donovan Hand pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings and Kyle Regnault pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four this and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Rafael Montero pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two and Josh Edgin pitched an inning striking out one. 

Patrick Biondi had a hit and an RBI, Luis Guillorme had a hit and Kevin Plawecki had a hit.  Travis Taijeron had a hit, Evans had two hits and L.J. Mazzilli had a hit and two RBI.  Mazzilli and Biondi each hit a double and the Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Regnault had a pickoff. 

In the third Mazzilli hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Biondi hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0 in the third.  In the fourth Mazzilli hit a sac fly and it was 3-0 Mets.  In the bottom of the fifth Jose Iglesias hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-1 and in the sixth J.D. Martinez hit a solo homerun to make it a 3-2 game.  Omar Infante hit a two-run double in the sixth to make it a 4-3 game Detroit and that would be the final score.   

The New York Yankees lose to the Atlanta Braves in very sloppy game


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 10-2.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good but the defense also didn’t help him.  Austin Romine and Jorge Mateo lead the offense by each hitting a homerun. 

Sabathia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up six hits and six runs with four of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one and took the loss.  Ben Heller pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit.   Daniel Camarena pitched two innings giving up two hits and an unearned run with a strikeout, Domingo German pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and Yefry Ramirez pitched an inning giving up three hits and three unearned runs with a strikeout. 

Starlin Castro had a hit, Greg Bird drew a walk and Romine had a hit and an RBI.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Mateo had a hit and an RBI.  Higashioka hit a double and Romine and Mateo each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Castro and Andujar each committed an error and Torreyes committed three errors. 

In the first Nick Markakis hit an RBI single to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  Matt Kemp hit an RBI single to to extend the lead to 2-0.  Kurt Suzuki hit a two-run double, Balbino Fuenmayor hit a sac fly and Sean Kazmar hit an RBI double to make it 6-0 all in the first inning.  In the fifth Romine hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-1.  In the sixth Colin Walsh hit a sac fly and the score was 7-1 Braves.  In the sixth Mateo hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the ninth Kazmar reached on a throwing error and a run scored to make it 8-2.  Ronald Acuna hit a two run triple to push the lead to 10-2 and that would be the final score.
