New York Yankees win behind Aaron Judge power

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 5-4.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched well and Michael King was great out of the pen.  The offense was led by Aaron Judge who had four hits. 

Taillon won his fourth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  King pitched three perfect innings with six strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman picked up his ninth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Spenser Watkins started for the Orioles and he pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Joey Krehbiel pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Dillon Tate pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with one being earned.  Tate also walked a batter and picked up his second loss of the season.  Cionel Perez pitched to one batter and struck him out and Logan Gillaspie pitched two innings giving up three hits and he struck out one. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Judge had four hits and three RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had two hits.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit and drew a walk, Judge, Rizzo, Donaldson and Torres each hit a double and Judge hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 0-9 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Torres committed an error. 

Cedric Mullins had a hit and drew a walk, Trey Mancini had two hits and Roughned Odor had a hit.  Ramon Urias had a hit and two RBI, Tyler Nevin had two hits and an RBI and Robinson Chirinos had a hit.  Ryan McKenna had a hit and an RBI, Odor, Mancini and McKenna each hit a double and Urias hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Urias committed an error and Hays had an outfield assist. 

In the first Judge hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Urias hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the third Judge hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Urias reached on an error and a run scored to tie the game at two.  Nevin hit a sac fly and the Orioles had a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the sixth LeMahieu hit an RBI groundout and it was 4-3 Yankees.  In the seventh Torres reached on an error and the lead was pushed to 5-3.  In the bottom of the ninth McKenna hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 5-4 and that would be the final score of the game. 

The two teams will play the third of four on Wednesday night.  They will finish the series on Thursday afternoon.   

New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 6-2.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Josh Donaldson led the offense with three hits. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts and he picked up his third win of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Kyle Bradish started for the Orioles and he pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Keegan Akin pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and Felix Bautista pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Donaldson had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo had a hit and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had two hits and drew two walks, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and drew a walk and Jose Trevino had two hits and three RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, Stanton hit a double and Trevino, Donaldson and Rizzo each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gallo committed an error. 

Trey Mancini drew a walk, Anthony Santander had two hits and two RBI and Ramon Urias drew a walk.  Roughned Odor had a hit, Santander hit two homeruns and the Orioles were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  McKenna had an outfield assist. 

In the third Stanton hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Trevino hit a three-run homerun pushing the Yankees lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Santander hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the ninth Donaldson hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 5-1 and Rizzo hit a solo homerun making it 6-1.  In the bottom of the ninth Santander hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.

New York Mets lose a high scoring nail biter to the Seattle Mariners

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-7.  Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Brandon Nimmo led the offense with a couple of hits and three RBI. 

Carrasco pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.   Chasen Shreve took his first loss of the season pitching an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Drew Smith pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Joely Rodriguez pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts.  Colin Holderman pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Robbie Ray won his fourth game of the season pitching six innings giving up five hits and five runs with three walks and nine strikeouts.  Sergio Romo pitched a perfect inning, Paul Sewald pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Drew Steckenrider pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs.  Diego Castillo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and earned his second save of the season. 

Nimmo had two hits and three RBI, Starling Marte had a hit and Francisco Lindor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Pete Alonso had a hit, Mark Canha drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit and two RBI.  Eduardo Escobar had a hit and drew a walk, Jeff McNeil had a hit and an RBI and Tomas Nido drew a walk.  Mazeika had a hit, Marte and Nimmo each hit a double and Davis, Nimmo and Escobar each hit a triple.  Lindor hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Canha was caught stealing and Marte had an outfield assist. 

Adam Frazier had two hits, Ty France had two hits and J.P. Crawford had a hit.  Jesse Winker had two hits, Julio Rodriguez had four hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Mike Ford had a hit and two RBI.  Abraham Toro had two hits and an RBI, Steven Souza Jr. had a hit and Cal Raleigh had a hit and two RBI.  Toro, Frazier, France and Winker each hit a double and Rodriguez and Raleigh each hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the bottom of the first Lindor hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Raleigh hit into a double play but a run scored tying the score at one.  In the fourth Ford hit a two-run single to give the Mariners a 3-1 lead.  Toro hit a sac fly and the lead was pushed to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Davis hit a two-run triple to cut the lead to 4-3 and Nimmo hit a two-run triple to give the Mets a 5-4 lead.  In the sixth Rodriguez hit a solo homerun tying the game at five.  Raleigh hit a two-run homerun and the Mariners grabbed a 7-5 lead.  In the seventh Rodriguez hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 8-5 and in the bottom of the ninth McNeil hit an RBI single and Nimmo an RBI double cutting the lead to 8-7.  8-7 would be the final score.

The New York Mets defeated the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Chris Bassitt started for the Mets and he pitched well and the offense was led by Starling Marte who had three hits. 

Bassitt pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk, Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Ottavino won his second game of the season and Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and he earned his eighth save of the season. 

George Kirby started for the Mariners and he pitched four innings giving up three hits and three runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one.  Penn Murfee pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Anthony Misiewicz pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Andres Munoz pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and he took his first loss of the season.  Sergio Romo pitched a perfect inning. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Marte had three hits and Francisco Lindor had a hit and two RBI.  Pete Alonso had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Jeff McNeil had an RBI and Patrick Mazeika had a hit and an RBI.  Marte and Alonso each hit a double and Marte hit a triple.  Mazeika hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Marte had a stolen base.  Bassitt and Shreve each had a pickoff. 

Ty France had two hits, J.P. Crawford had a hit and Eugenio Suarez had a hit and drew a walk.  Jesse Winker had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Julio Rodriguez drew a walk and Steven Souza Jr. had a hit and an RBI.  Luis Torrens had two hits and drew two walks, Winker hit a homerun and the Mariners were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Rodriguez was caught stealing and Suarez and Rodriguez were picked off.  Crawford, Suarez and Torrens each committed an error and Souza Jr. had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the first Lindor hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third Lindor hit a sac fly pushing their lead to 2-0.  McNeil hit a sac fly and the lead was 3-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Alonso hit an RBI double extending the Mets lead to 4-0.  In the sixth Souza Jr. hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the seventh Winker hit a three-run homerun to tie the score at four.  In the bottom of the seventh Mazeika hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 5-4 lead and that was the final score of the game.  The third and final game of the series will be on Sunday.
