New York Yankees lose rubber game in Minnesota


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 6-1.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well although it was just one bad inning.  Brett Gardner, Starlin Castro and Clint Frazier each had two hits to lead the inning. 

Montgomery pitched six innings giving up seven hits and six runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Montgomery lost his fifth game of the season.  Chad Green pitched an inning with a walk and he struck out two and Tommy Kahnle pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Jose Berrios started for the Twins and he pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  Berrios won his ninth game of the season.  Tyler Duffey pitched to one batter and struck him out, Taylor Rogers pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Trevor Hildenberger pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  

Gardner had two hits and an RBI, Castro had two hits and Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a walk.  C. Frazier had two hits, Austin Romine drew a walk and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gardner was caught stealing. 

Brian Dozier had a hit and drew two walks, Eduardo Escobar had a hit and an RBI and Miguel Sano had a hit and three RBI.  Chris Gimenez had a hit, Ehire Adrianza had two hits and Zack Granite had a hit and two RBI.  Dozier, Adrianza each hit a double and Sano hit a homerun.  The Twins were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Grossman committed an error. 

In the second Granite hit a two-run single, Escobar hit an RBI single and Sano hit a three-run homerun to take a 6-0 lead.  In the seventh Gardner hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three to the Twins and will head to Seattle for a four game series.

New York Mets are shutout by the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen was good.  Michael Conforto had two hits and the offense only managed three.   

Montero pitched six innings and gave up seven hits and four runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out five and lost his sixth game of the season.  Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and an unearned run, Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and Neil Ramirez retired the only two batters that he faced.  Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Michael Wacha pitched a complete game three hit shutout.  He walked one and struck out eight and won his seventh game of the season. 

Conforto had two hits, Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Conforto hit a double and the Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  T. Rivera committed two errors and Duda committed an error and Montero had a pickoff. 

Matt Carpenter had four hits and an RBI, Tommy Pham had a hit and Dexter Fowler had a hit.  Jedd Gyorko had a hit and an RBI, Yadier Molina had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Paul DeJong had a hit, Kolten Wong had a hit and Magneuris Sierra had a hit.  Wacha had a hit and an RBI, Carpenter hit two doubles and DeJong hit a double.  The Cardinals were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Pham, Gyorko each had a stolen base and Pham was picked off. 

In the first Gyorko hit a sac fly giving the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the second Wacha grounded into a force out and a run scored to push the lead to 2-0.  Carpenter hit an RBI double and Pham reached on an error to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the seventh Molina hit an RBI single to make it 5-0 and that would be the final score. 

New York Mets get doubled up by the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-3.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Jay Bruce, Lucas Duda and Jose Reyes each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and four runs with four walks and five strikeouts and lost his seventh game of the season.  Josh Edgin pitched giving up a run and a walk without recording an out, Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Paul Sewald pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Jerry Blevins pitched an inning with a strikeout and Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Adam Wainwright pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out three and won his 11th game of the season.  Tyler Lyons pitched to one batter and retired him, Matt Bowman pitched an inning giving up a hit and Kevin Siegrist pitched an inning giving up a walk and struck out three.  Brett Cecil pitched an inning giving up a hit and he saved his first game of the season. 

Michael Conforto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and Bruce had two hits.  Duda had two hits and an RBI, Reyes had two hits and Travis d’Arnaud drew a walk.  Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Duda hit a double and Reyes hit two doubles.  Conforto and Duda each hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Matt Carpenter had a hit and drew two walks, Tommy Pham had two hits, three RBI and drew two walks and Dexter Fowler had a hit and drew a walk.  Jedd Gyorko had a hit, Yadier Molina had two hits and Paul DeJong had a hit and two RBI.  Kolten Wong had a hit, Wainwright had a hit and an RBI and Wainwright hit a double.  DeJong and Pham each hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Sierra committed two errors and Fowler committed an error. 

In the fifth Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth DeJong hit a two-run homerun to give the Cardinals the 2-1 lead.  Wainwright hit an RBI double and the lead was pushed to 3-1.  Pham hit a three-run homerun and the lead was extended to 6-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Duda hit a solo homerun and Reyes hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 6-3 which would be the final score.

New York Yankees even series in Minnesota with a comeback win


The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 6-3.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The Yankees bullpen was outstanding and the offense was led by Didi Gregorius and Ronald Torreyes who each had three hits. 

Cessa pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve won his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two, Adam Warren pitched two innings giving up two strikeouts and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and he saved his 10th game of the season. 

Bartolo Colon lost his ninth game of the season pitching four innings and giving up eight hits and four runs.  He walked none and struck out three.  Ryan Pressly pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout, Craig Breslow pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and Trevor Hildenberger pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.  Matt Belisle pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Brett Gardner had two hits, Gary Sanchez had two hits and two RBI and Aaron Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gregorius had three hits and two RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI and Torreyes had three hits.  Gardner hit two doubles and Sanchez hit a double.  Gregorius hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Zack Granite drew a walk and Joe Mauer drew a walk.  Miguel Sano had two hits and an RBI, Max Kepler had two hits and Robbie Grossman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jorge Polanco drew a walk, Jason Castro had a hit and Kepler, Castro, Sano and Grossman each hit a double.  Dozier hit a triple and Sano hit a homerun.  The Twins were 2-18 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. 

In the first Grossman drew an RBI walk to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the third Sano hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Headley hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fourth Dozier hit an RBI triple to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Sanchez hit a two-run double to tie the game at three.  Judge hit an RBI single and Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 6-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Wednesday afternoon.

New York Yankees lose to Minnesota Twins


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Minnesota Twins on Monday night.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 4-2.  Bryan Mitchell started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Garett Cooper led the offense with three hits and Clint Frazier had two hits. 

Mitchell pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out two.  Caleb Smith took his first loss of the season pitching three innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts. 

Adalberto Mejia started for the Twins and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run.  He walked none and struck out four.  Tyler Duffey pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts, Taylor Rogers won his fifth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and two walks and Brandon Kintzler pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he saved his 26th game of the season. 

Frazier had two hits, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Matt Holliday had a hit.  Sarlin Castro drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and Cooper had three hits and an RBI.  Austin Romine had a hit and an RBI, Cooper hit two doubles and Romine and Headley hit a double with Frazier also hitting two doubles.  The Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Mitchell committed an error and Judge had an outfield assist. 

Brian Dozier had two hits, Zack Granite had a hit and Joe Mauer had a hit and drew a walk.  Miguel Sano had a hit, Kennys Vargas drew a walk and Eduardo Escobar had a hit and an RBI.  Eddie Rosario had two hits and two RBI, Ehire Adrianza had a hit and drew a walk and Jason Castro had a hit.  Rosario hit two doubles and Castro hit a double.  The Twins were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the second Rosario hit an RBI double to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the third Kepler reached on an error and a run scored to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Romine hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the seventh Cooper hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Escobar hit an RBI single to give the Twins a 3-2 lead and Rosario hit an RBI double to push it to 4-2 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.  The series will conclude on Wednesday afternoon.

New York Mets blown out as they fail to sweep the series over the Colorado Rockies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 13-4.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched very poorly.  Jay Bruce had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Matz pitched one inning giving up nine hits and seven runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Erik Goeddel pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts, Fernando Salas pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout and Chasen Bradford pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Neil Ramirez pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout. 

Jeff Hoffman pitched six innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Hoffman won his sixth game of the season.  Scott Oberg pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Mike Dunn pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Zac Rosscup pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and two RBI, Bruce had two hits and T.J. Rivera had a hit.  Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI, Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI and Rene Rivera had a hit and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores had a hit, Bruce hit a double and Duda and Cabrera each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  T. Rivera and Duda each committed an error and R. Rivera had a passed ball. 

Charlie Blackmon had two hits and two RBI, DJ LeMahieu had four hits and Nolan Arenado had two hits and three RBI.  Mark Reynolds had four hits and an RBI, Ian Desmond had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Gerardo Parra had two hits and three RBI.  Trevor Story had two hits and two RBI, Ryan Hanigan drew two walks and Amarista drew a walk.  Reynolds, Story, Blackmon, Desmond and Arenado each hit a double and LeMahieu hit two doubles.  Arenado, Blackmon and Parra each hit a homerun and the Rockies were 5-17 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base. 

In the first Desmond hit a two-run single, Story hit a two-run double and it was 4-0 Rockies.  In the second Arenado hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 7-0.  In the fourth Reynolds hit an RBI single, Parra hit a sac fly and the lead was extended to 9-0.  In the fourth Duda hit a solo homerun and in the fifth Cabrera hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-3.  In the sixth Reyes hit a sac fly and the lead was cut to 9-4.  In the seventh Blackmon hit a two-run inside-the-park homerun to extend the lead to 11-4 Rockies.  In the eighth Parra hit a two-run homerun and it was 13-4 which would be the final score.

Lugo won his fourth game of the season pitching 6 2/3 innings and giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out five.  Paul Sewald pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out both batters, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out both batters and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Tyler Chatwood pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and four runs with three walks and he lost his 11th game of the season.  Chris Rusin pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with one of them being earned.  He struck out three, Kyle Freeland pitched three innings with a walk and four strikeouts and Jake McGee pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.

In the first Bruce hit a three-run homerun to give the Mets the lead.  d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to extend it to 4-0.  In the second T. Rivera hit an RBI single, Duda hit a two-run double and the lead was pushed to 7-0 in the second inning.  In the third Lugo hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 8-0.  In the sixth Parra hit a sac fly and Tapia hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 8-2.  In the seventh Blackmon hit an RBI triple and the lead was cut to 8-3.  In the eighth Reyes hit a solo homerun to make it a 9-3 game and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.  The Mets will be looking for the three game sweep.

New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox in a marathon extra inning game


The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 4-1 in 16 innings.  Luis Severino started the game for the Yankees and he pitched great, the bullpen was equally great.  Chase Headley had two hits to lead the offense and Matt Holliday had the big homerun to tie the game in the ninth. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and six strikeouts.  Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit, Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched giving up two hits without recording an out.  Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jonathan Holder pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk.  Ben Heller picked up his first win of the year pitching two scoreless innings and walking one with three strikeouts. 

Chris Sale pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and 13 strikeouts.  Craig Kimbrel blew his third save of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts, Heath Hembree pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout and Robby Scott pitched a perfect inning.  Blaine Boyer pitched an inning with a walk, Brandon Workman pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Fernando Abad pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Doug Fister lost his third game of the season pitching 2 2/3 innings and giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.

Mookie Betts drew a walk, Dustin Pedroia had a hit and drew a walk and Xander Bogaerts had a hit and drew a walk.  Mitch Moreland had an RBI, Hanley Ramirez had a hit and Andrew Benintendi had three hits.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit, Tzu-Wei Lin had a hit and drew a walk and the Red Sox were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Ling was caught stealing and committed an error.  Bogaerts also committed an error. 

In the third inning Moreland hti a sac fly to give Boston a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Holliday hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  IN the 16th inning Gregorius hit an RBI single, Romine hit an RBI single and Sanchez hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon and night.
