New York Yankees fail to sweep the Colorado Rockies


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-4.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The Yankees offense only managed four hits. 

Paxton pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits and seven runs with four of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out six.  Paxton lost his fifth game of the season.  Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Stephen Tarpley pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and an unearned run with two walks and a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

German Marquez pitched seven innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Marquez won his ninth game of the season.  Scott Oberg pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Wade Davis pitched a perfect inning. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Mike Tauchman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, LeMahieu, Tauchman and Hicks each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Voit committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Charlie Blackmon had four hits and an RBI, Trevor Story had two hits and two RBI and Nolan Arenado had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Daniel Murphy had a hit, Ian Desmond drew a walk and David Dahl had two hits and two RBI.  Ryan McMahon drew a walk, Chris Iannetta drew three walks, Arenado and Blackmon each hit a double.  Story hit two doubles and Blackmon hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Dahl and McMahon each had a stolen base. 

In the first Blackmon hit a solo homerun to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the third Arenado hit a two-run double to give the Rockies a 3-1 lead.  Dahl hit a two-run single and it was 5-1 Rockies.  In the fourth Story hit a two-run double to extend the Rockies lead to 7-1.  In the fifth Tauchman hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the eighth a passed ball made it 8-2.  In the eighth Hicks hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 8-4 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three in the series and will head to Minnesota to take on the Twins Monday night for the first of three. 


New York Yankees defeated the Colorado Rockies


The New York Yankees defeated the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium and the final score was 11-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well.  The bullpen pitched well and DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Tanaka won his seventh game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and David Hale pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout. 

Antonio Senzatela pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up seven hits giving up a hit  and six runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Senzatela lost his seventh game of the season.  Chad Bettis pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout, Carlos Estevez pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out four and Bryan Shaw pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Jairo Diaz pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

LeMahieu had three hits and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Mike Tauchman had an RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Edwin Encarnacion had two hits and three RBI and Luke Voit drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius had two hits and an RBI, Torres had three hits and two RBI and Austin Romine had two hits and an RBI.  Brett Gardner drew a walk, Judge, Gregorius and Encarnacion each hit a double.  The Yankees were 6-15 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Romine had a stolen base.

In the first Judge hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Torres hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  Romine hit an RBI single, Hicks hit an RBI single and Encarnacion hit a two-run double to make it 6-0.  In the fourth Gregorius hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-0.  Torres hit a two-run single making it 9-0.  In the sixth Story hit an RBI double and Arenado hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-4.  Desmond hit an RBI single to make it 9-5.  In the seventh Tauchman hit into an RBI ground out making it a 10-5 game and Encarnacion hit an RBI single to make it 11-5.  That was the final score and the Yankees will look to sweep the series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees roll over the Colorado Rockies


The New York Yankees defeated the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-2.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen also pitched well.  Mike Tauchman had three hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched five innings giving up eight hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  He won his eighth game of the season.  Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and Stephen Tarpley pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out six. 

Kyle Freeland pitched four innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Freeland lost his seventh game of the season.  Yency Almonte pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs, Jake McGee pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jairo Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits and two RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Gary Sanchez drew a walk.  Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and four RBI, Aaron Hicks had two hits and Luke Voit had a hit and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had two hits and Tauchman had three hits.  Tauchman hit a double and Encarnacion and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Tauchman had a stolen base and Torres and Sanchez each committed an error.  Tauchman and Judge each had an outfield assist. 

Trevor Story had a hit, Nolan Arenado had a hit and drew and Daniel Murphy had a hit.  Ian Desmond had two hits, Ryan McMahon had a hit and an RBI and Chris Iannetta had two hits.  Garrett Hampson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Hampson, Iannetta and Desmond each hit a double.  McMahon hit a homerun and the Rockies were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Iannetta committed an error.

In the second McMahon hit a solo homerun, Hampson hit an RBI double and it was 2-0 Rockies.  In the third Encarnacion hit a grand slam to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead.  In the fourth LeMahieu hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 5-2.  In the sixth LeMahieu reached on a fielder’s choice and it was 6-2 Yankees.  Judge hit a two-run homerun and the scoring ended at 8-2.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.
