New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets to win second straight of Subway Series


The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Saturday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and after a rough first inning he settled down and pitched well and the bullpen was great.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  The Yankee offense produced three more homeruns and after the first inning the Mets offense continued to do not much. 

German pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with no walks and nine strikeouts.  David Robertson won his fifth game of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman won his 17th game of the season pitching an inning with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with four walks and six strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman pitched an inning with a walk, Anthony Swarzak lost his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts and Jerry Blevins pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had two hits and two RBI and Didi Gregorius had three hits.  German drew a walk, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Hicks hit a double and Torres, Andujar and Judge each hit a homerun.   The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Torres was caught stealing and Hicks was picked off. 

Amed Rosario had a hit, Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Brandon Nimmo had a hit.  Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and two RBI, Jay Bruce drew a walk and Adrian Gonzalez had a hit.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit and drew a walk, Plawecki hit a double and Gonzalez hit a double.  Nimmo hit a triple and Frazier and Cabrera each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base and Matz and Blevins each had a pickoff. 

In the first Frazier and Cabrera each hit a homerun to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.  In the third Torres hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the sixth Andujar hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at three and in the eighth Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have taken the first two games of the series to win another series and will look for the three-game sweep on Sunday night.  The Yankees have only lost 1 of their last 15 series. 

New York Yankees defeat the New York Mets in round 1 of the Subway Series


The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched very well but had to leave after five innings with sore hamstrings.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he also pitched well.  Brett Gardner had two hits and two RBI to lead the Yankees offense and the Mets offense only managed four hits. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning, Chad Green won his fourth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and he struck out two and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman saved his 16th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit.   

deGrom pitched eight innings giving up four hits and three runs with two of them being earned and he walked two and struck out eight.  deGrom lost his first game of the season.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Gardner had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had an RBI and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI.  Gleyber Torres had two hits, Gardner and Stanton each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and Todd Frazier had a hit.  Jay Bruce had a hit and drew a walk, Nimmo hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Adrian Gonzalez committed an error. 

In the first Nimmo hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Judge hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Gardner hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  Stanton hit a solo homerun in the ninth to push the lead to 4-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Yankees shutout the Toronto Blue Jays and earn brief two-game sweep


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 3-0 in 13 innings.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched great, the bullpen also was great pitching five scoreless.  Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton each hit a homerun in the 13th to break the 0-0 tie and win the game for the Yankees. 

Gray pitched eight scoreless innings giving up two hits and he walked two and struck out eight.  Chad Green pitched two innings with a couple of strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and David Robertson picked up his fourth win of the season pitching an inning and striking out two.  Aroldis Chapman picked up his 15th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Sam Gaviglio pitched seven innings giving up three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Ryan Tepera pitched two innings giving up a hit and a strikeout, Tyler Clippard pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tim Mayza pitched to one batter and retired him.  John Axford pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts, Danny Barnes pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Biagini lost his fifth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had two hits, Judge had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Miguel Andujar had a hit and drew two walks.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, Sanchez and Andujar each hit a double and Judge and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gregorius was caught stealing. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Justin Smoak had a hit and Kendrys Morales had two hits.  Russell Martin drew a walk, Devon Travis had a hit and Smoak and Morales each hit a double.  The Blue Jays were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Travis had a stolen base. 

In the 13th inning Judge hit a two-run homerun to break a scoreless tie and Stanton followed with a solo homerun two batters later to push the score to 3-0 which was the final score.

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 7-2.  CC Sabathia started and pitched well for the Yankees and the bullpen pitched two scoreless innings to close it out.  Giancarlo Stanton and Miguel Andujar each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched seven innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Sabathia picked up his third win of the season.  David Robertson pitched an inning with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Marco Estrada pitched six innings giving up six hits and a run with six strikeouts.   Seunghwan Oh pitched an inning giving up a hit and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his second game of the season.  Joe Biagini pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a  strikeout, Aaron Loup pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Tim Mayza pitched a perfect inning. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Stanton had two hits and Greg Bird had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Didi Gregorius drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Andujar had two hits and four RBI, Tyler Austin had a hit and Stanton and Bird each hit a double.  Andujar and Hicks each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gregorius had a stolen base and Austin and Gardner were caught stealing. 

Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and an RBI, Yangervis Solarte had a hit and Justin Smoak drew a walk.  Kevin Pillar had a hit and an RBI, Hernandez and Pillar each hit a homerun and the Blue Jays left two men on base. 

In the sixth Hernandez hit a solo homerun to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Andujar hit a grand slam to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead.  In the seventh Pillar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the eighth Hicks hit a three-run homerun pushing the lead to 7-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will complete their brief series on Wednesday night. 

New York Yankees lose the night cap of doubleheader to the Detroit Tigers


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Detroit Tigers on Monday night.  The game took place at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan and the final score was 4-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  Miguel Andujar led the offense with a couple of hits. 

German lost his fourth game of the season pitching 6 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a couple walks and three strikeouts.  Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and three walks with a strikeout. 

Mike Fiers pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a couple walks and six strikeouts.  Fiers won his fifth game of the season.  Louis Coleman pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two walks and he struck out three, Joe Jimenez pitched an inning with a couple of strikeouts and Shane Greene saved his 15th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out the side. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew two walks and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI.  Miguel Andujar had two hits and drew a walk, Tyler Austin had a hit and Clint Frazier had a hit and drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, Andujar hit two doubles and Gardner hit a triple.  Stanton hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Jeimer Candelario had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Miguel Cabrera had a hit and Victor Martinez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Niko Goodrum had a hit and drew a walk, Leonys Martin had two hits and drew a walk and James McCann had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Ronny Rodriguez had an RBI, Martin, McCann, Candelario, Cabrera, Martinez each hit a double.  The Tigers were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 

In the second Rodriguez hit a sac fly to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gardner hit an RBI triple to tie the game at one.  In the fourth McCann hit an RBI double and Candelario hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.  In the sixth Stanton hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2 and in the seventh Martinez hit an RBI double to push the lead to 4-2. 

The two teams split the doubleheader and the Yankees will head to Toronto for a brief two-game series tomorrow night.

New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers in first game of double header


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Comerica Field in Detroit, Michigan and the final score was 7-4.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Austin Romine had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Severino started for the Yankees and won his ninth game of the season.  He pitched eight innings and gave up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out ten.  Jonathan Holder pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two unearned runs and Aroldis Chapman struck out the only batter that he faced and earned his 14th save of the season. 

Drew VerHagen pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with two walks and two strikeouts and he lost his second game of the season.  Sandy Baez pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up three walks and striking out four and Zac Reininger pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Greg Bird had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. -7  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI.  Clint Frazier had a hit and an RBI, Romine had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Torres, Bird and Romine each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gregorius had a stolen base and Torres and Romine each committed an error. 

Nick Castellanos had two hits and an RBI, Miguel Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Niko Goodrum had a hit and an RBI.  John Hicks had a hit, Jose Iglesias had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera, Goodrum and Iglesias each hit a double and the Tigers were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Machado committed an error. 

In the first Cabrera hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  In the third Torres hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Bird hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  Andujar hit an RBI single and Frazier hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead.  Romine hit a three-run homerun and it was 7-1 Yankees.  In the fifth Castellanos hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the ninth Goodrum hit an RBI double and Iglesias hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will complete their day/night doubleheader on Monday night.

New York Mets are shutout by the Chicago Cubs


The New York Mets were defeated by the Chicago Cubs on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets offense managed three hits. 

Matz lost his fourth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched two innings with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Jon Lester won his sixth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.  Randy Rosario pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk, Steve Cishek pitched to one batter and struck him out and Brian Duensing pitched an inning giving up a hit and he recorded his first save of the season. 

Brandon Nimmo drew two walks, Jose Bautista drew a walk and Kevin Plawecki had a hit.  Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and the Mets were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Nimmo and Bautista each had a stolen base.  Matz had a pickoff. 

Albert Almora Jr. had a hit, Javier Baez had a hit and Wilson Contreras had a hit.  Ian Happ drew two walks, Kyle Schwarber had a hit and drew a walk and Addison Russell had a hit.  Ben Zobrist had an RBI, Russell hit a double and the Cubs were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Baez, Contreras and Schwarber each had a stolen base and Happ was caught stealing and picked off.  Russell committed an error. 

In the seventh Baez stole home to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead and Zobrist hit a sac fly to push the lead to 2-0 and that would hold up as it was the final score. 

The Mets were swept four straight by the Chicago Cubs and will be off on Monday before opening a two- game series with the Baltimore Orioles at home on Tuesday night.   

New York Mets fall to the Chicago Cubs in exra innings


The New York Mets were defeated by the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-1 in 14 innings.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen had mixed results though.  Amed Rosario and Luis Guillorme each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and a run with two walks and 13 strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Jerry Blevins pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with two strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning with a strikeout, Tim Peterson pitched two innings giving up three hits and a walk with three strikeouts and Buddy Baumann pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and four runs with two walks and he lost his second game of the season.  Gerson Bautista pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs.   

Mike Montgomery pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts.  Cory Mazzoni pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Justin Wilson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts and Luke Farrell pitched five innings giving up two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts and he won his second game of the season.  Brandon Morrow pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Jose Bautista had a hit and drew a walk, Michael Conforto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Lobaton drew a walk.  Kevin Plawecki drew a walk, Guillorme had two hits and Rosario had two hits.  Adrian Gonzalez had a hit, Bautista hit a double and Conforto hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Plaweciki committed two errors and Cabrera committed an error.  Nimmo had an outfield assist. 

Ben Zobrist had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks, Jason Heyward had four hits and Javier Baez had a hit and two RBI.  Kris Bryant had a hit, Anthony Rizzo had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Wilson Contreras had a hit and drew two walks.  Kyle Schwarber had two hits and drew a walk, Albert Almora Jr. had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Addison Russell had a hit and drew a walk, Ian Happ had a hit and drew a walk and Heyward, Almora Jr. and Zobrist each hit a double.  Baez hit a homerun and the Cubs were 6-17 with runners in scoring position and left 17 men on base.  Rizzo, Happ and Zobrist each had a stolen base.  Russell and Bryant each committed an error. 

In the sixth Rizzo hit an RBI single to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Conforto hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the 14th Almora hit a two-run double, Zobrist hit a two-run double and Baez hit a two-run homerun to give the Cubs a 7-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of three on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees pound the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 8-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  Aaron Hicks led the offense with three hits and Brett Gardner, Giancarlo Stanton, Didi Gregorius and Miguel Andujar each had two hits. 

Tanaka pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  He earned his seventh win of the season.  Jonathan Holder pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Chad Green pitched an inning with a walk and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  David Robertson pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a couple of strikeouts. 

Kevin Gausman lost his fifth game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out nine.  Miguel Castro pitched 1 2/3 innings with a walk and a strikeout, Mychal Givens pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a couple of strikeouts and Pedro Araujo pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Gardner had two hits, Aaron Judge had a hit and Greg Bird had a hit.  Stanton had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Gregorius had two hits and an RBI and Hicks had three hits and two RBI.  Andujar had two hits and three RBI, Gardner hit two doubles and Judge, Andujar and Bird each hit a double.  Andujar and Stanton each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-18 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hicks, Torres and Gregorius each had a stolen base. 

Joey Rickard had a hit and an RBI, Adam Jones had three hits and two RBI and Manny Machado had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jonathan Schoop had two hits, Trey Mancini drew a walk and Chris Davis had a hit.  Danny Valencia had two hits and an RBI and Chance Sisco had a hit.  Schoop hit a double and Valencia hit two doubles.  Jones, Rickard and Machado each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Schoop committed an error and Jones committed two errors. 

In the first Jones hit a solo homerun to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the second Andujar hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the third Stanton hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the third Rickard hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth Gregorius hit an RBI single to make it a 5-2 game.  Hicks hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-2.  In the sixth Machado hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-3.  Valencia hit an RBI double and it was 6-4.  In the eighth Hicks hit an RBI single to extend to 7-4 and Andujar hit an RBI double to push the lead to 8-4.  In the ninth Jones hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-5 but that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of three on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Chatwood pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Randy Rosario won his second game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout, Pedro Strop pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Brian Duensing gave up a hit to the only batter that he faced.  Steve Cishek pitched to one batter and struck him out and Brandon Morrow saved his 14th game of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout.

The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday.
