New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers


The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-5.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched ok and the bullpen was good.  Todd Frazier had three hits including two homeruns to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five and won his first game of the season.  Seth Lugo pitched two innings giving up six hits and a run, AJ Ramos pitched to one batter and retired him and Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter giving up a hit.  Robert Gsellman pitched to one batter and retired him and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his seventh save of the season. 

Zach Davies pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs.  He walked two and struck out four and lost his second game of the season.  Dan Jennings pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Oliver Drake pitched an inning with three strikeouts and Jacob Barnes pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Michael Conforto drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and an RBI.  Jay Bruce had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Adrian Gonzalez had an RBI and Frazier had three hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Jose Lobaton had a hit, Cabrera and Bruce each hit a double.  Lobaton hit a triple and Frazier hit two homeruns.  The Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Bruce committed an error, Cespedes had an outfield assist. 

Lorenzo Cain had a hit and drew two walks, Domingo Santana had a hit and Ryan Braun had a hit and two RBI.  Travis Shaw had a hit and an RBI, Jesus Aguilar had three hits and Hernan Perez had two hits and two RBI.  Eric Sogard had a hit, Aguilar hit a double, Perez, Braun and Shaw each hit a homerun and the Brewers were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Cain had a stolen base and Aguilar committed an error. 

In the first Cespedes hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Frazier hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Perez hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fourth Frazier hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Bruce hit an RBI double to push the lead to 4-2.  Gonzalez hit a sac fly and a wild pitch made it 6-2 Mets.  In the sixth Braun hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 6-4 and in the eighth Shaw hit a solo homerun to make it a 6-5 game and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.   

New York Yankees defeat the Detroit Tigers


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.  The game took place at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan and the final score was 8-6.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and pitched well.  The bullpen was good except for Dellin Betances who didn’t pitch well.  Ronald Torreyes had three hits, Brett Gardner, Aaron Hicks and Miguel Andujar each had two hits for the offense. 

Montgomery pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with four strikeouts and earned his first win of the season.  David Robertson pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up five hits and three runs with two strikeouts and Chad Green struck out the only guy he faced.  Aroldis Chapman saved his second game of the season pitching a perfect inning and striking out the side. 

Mike Fiers pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out four and lost his first game of the season.  Buck Farmer pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with four strikeouts, Alex Wilson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk, Drew VerHagen pitched 2/3 of an inning and Shane Greene pitched a perfect inning. 

Gardner had two hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had an RBI and drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Hicks had two hits, three RBI and drew two walks and Andujar had two hits.  Torreyes had three hits and an RBI.  Sanchez, Andujar and Gardner each hit a double, Andujar hit a triple and Hicks hit two homeruns, one was a inside-the-park homerun.  The Yankees were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Judge had a stolen base and Gardner committed an error.  

Jeimer Candelario had a hit and an RBI, Miguel Cabrera had two hits and Nick Castellanos had two hits.  Victor Martinez had two hits and an RBI, James McCann had two hits and three RBI and Jose Iglesias had two hits and an RBI.  Dixon Machado had a hit, Martinez hit two doubles and Iglesias hit a double.  McCann and Candelario each hit a homerun.  The Tigers were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Machado committed an error. 

In the second Hicks hit an inside-the-park homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Gardner hit an RBI double, Judge hit an RBI single and Gregorius reached on a throwing error and a run scored to make it 5-0.  In the fifth McCann hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the sixth Hicks hit a solo homerun to increase the lead to 6-1.  In the seventh Martinez hit an RBI double, McCann hit a sac fly and the lead was cut to 6-3.  In the eighth Torreyes hit an RBI single and Gregorius hit a sac fly and the lead was 8-3.  In the bottom of the eighth Candelario hit a solo homerun, McCann hit an RBI single and Iglesias hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-6 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon weather permitting.   

New York Yankees get doubled up by the Boston Red Sox to drop series


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 6-3.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good, the bullpen pitched well.  The Yankees offense only managed four hits but Sanchez had three RBI. 

Gray pitched three innings giving up seven hits and six runs.  He walked two and struck out three and took his first loss of the season.  Domingo German pitched three innings giving up a hit and struck out three, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Rick Porcello won his third game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and no runs with six strikeouts.  Marcus Walden pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them being earned and he walked two and struck out two and Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Didi Gregorius drew a walk.  Sanchez had a hit and three RBI, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and Judge, Torreyes and Sanchez each hit a double.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Stanton had a stolen base and Wade committed an error. 

Mookie Betts had two RBI, Andrew Benintendi had two hits and an RBI and Mitch Moreland had two hits and an RBI.  Eduardo Nunez had two hits, Tzu-Wei Lin drew a walk and Jackie Bradley Jr.  had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.   Sandy Leon had a hit and an RBI, Brock Holt drew a walk and Nunez and Bradley Jr. each hit a double.  The Red Sox were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Devers committed an error. 

In the second Leon hit an RBI single, Betts hit a sac fly, Benintendi reached on a fielder’s choice and Moreland hit an RBI single giving Boston a 4-0 lead.  In the third Bradley Jr. hit an RBI double to push their lead to 5-0.  Betts hit an RBI ground out and it was 6-0.  In the ninth Sanchez hit a three-run double to cut the lead to 6-3 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three games to Boston and will now head to Detroit for a three-game series that begins on Friday night.

New York Yankees win a slug fest and have some extra action as well


The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 10-7.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched ok but had one bad inning.  The Yankees bullpen was good and Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka won his second game of the season pitching five innings.  He gave up seven hits and six runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, David Robertson pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

David Price took his first loss of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out one.  Bobby Poyner pitched two innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Heath Hembree pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs with two strikeouts and Matt Barnes pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Joe Kelly got one out and then plunked Tyler Austin which caused a bench clearing brawl, Brian Johnson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out three and Carson Smith pitched an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had two hits and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had two hits and drew a walk and Stanton had three hits and three RBI.  Didi Gregorius had two RBI, Sanchez had three hits and four RBI and Neil Walker had a hit.  Austin had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Shane Robinson drew a walk, Sanchez hit a double and Stanton hit a triple.  Sanchez hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 5-13 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Robinson had a stolen base. 

Mookie Betts had a hit and an RBI, Hanley Ramirez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and J.D. Martinez had two hits and four RBI.  Mitch Moreland had a hit and drew a walk, Jackie Bradley Jr. had three hits and Christian Vasquez had a hit.  Brock Holt had a hit, Betts, Moreland and Vasquez each hit a double.  Ramirez and Martinez each hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Vasquez committed an error. 

In the first Stanton hit a two-run triple to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Sanchez hit a two-run homerun and it was 4-0 Yankees.  In the bottom of the first Ramirez hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the third Austin hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 5-1.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a sac fly to make it 6-1.  Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 8-1.  In the fifth Betts hit an RBI double, Martinez hit a grand slam and it was 8-6.  In the sixth Stanton hit an RBI single and Gregorius hit a sac fly to make it 10-6.  IN the ninth a wild pitch made it 10-7 but that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the three game series on Thursday night.   

New York Yankees get smacked around by the Boston Red Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 14-1.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good and Tommy Khanle and Chasen Shreve out of the bullpen were even worse.  Aaron Judge had three hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with three walks and six strikeouts and he took his first loss of the season.  Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and five runs with three of them being earned and he walked three, Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and four runs all unearned and a walk with three strikeouts.  Luis Cessa pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Chris Sale pitched six innings giving up eight hits and a run with eight strikeouts to earn his first win of the season.  Joe Kelly pitched an inning giving up a hit and Brian Johnson pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Neil Walker had a hit, Judge had three hits and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had two hits.  Didi Gregorius had two hits, Tyler Austin had a hit and Shane Robinson had a hit and drew a walk.  Stanton hit a double and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Romine and Andujar each committed an error.

Martinez had a hit, two RBI, Rafael Devers had an RBI and drew a walk and Eduardo Nunez drew a walk.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit, Christian Vasquez had a hit and Brock Holt had an RBI and drew a walk.  Betts hit two doubles, Benintendi and Martinez each hit a double.  Benintendi hit a triple and Betts hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ramirez had a stolen base. 

In the first Ramirez hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the second Benintendi hit a two-run triple and it was 3-0 Red Sox.  Ramirez hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 4-0.  In the fourth Ramirez hit a sac fly to extend the lead to 5-0.  In the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the sixth Martinez hit a two-run double, Devers hit a sac fly, Vasquez reached on a fielding error and a run scored and Holt had an RBI walk to make it 10-1 Red Sox.  Betts hit a grand slam and it was 14-1 which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night. 

New York Mets rally to beat the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 8-6.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he was just ok.  The Mets bullpen was good and Michael Conforto, Wilmer Flores and Asdrubal Cabrera each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Jacob Rhame pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs, Paul Sewald pitched to one batter and retired him and Hansel Robles earned his second win of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Jeurys Familia recorded his sixth save of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Caleb Smith pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Odrisamer Despaigne pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Drew Steckenrider pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Brad Ziegler pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with one being earned and he walked one and took his second loss of the season. 

Conforto had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and two RBI and Flores had two hits and two RBI.  Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk, Cabrera had two hits and two RBI and Kevin Plaweciki drew a walk.  Juan Lagares had an RBI, Amed Rosario had a hit and Flores, Rosario, Frazier and Cespedes each hit a double.  Cabrera hit two homeruns and Flores hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Derek Dietrich had two hits and drew a walk, Miguel Rojas had a hit and an RBI and Starlin Castro had two hits and an RBI.  Justin Bour had two hits and four RBI, Brian Anderson had two hits and drew a walk and Bryan Holaday had a hit.  Yadiel Rivera had a hit which was a double, Bour hit two homeruns and the Marlins were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Anderson committed an error. 

In the first Flores hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Cabrera hit a solo homerun to extend the Mets lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Conforto hit an RBI single to make it 3-0 Mets.  In the fifth Rojas hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1 and Castro hit a sac fly to make it 3-2.  Bour hit a two-run homerun and it was 4-3 Marlins.  In the sixth Lagares hit a sac fly to tie the score at four.  In the seventh Bour hit a two-run homerun to give the Marlins a 6-4 lead.  In the eighth Flores hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to one and Cabrera hit a solo homerun to tie the game at six.  In the ninth Cespedes hit a two-run double to give the Mets a 8-6 lead which would be the final score.

New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins in Miami


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 4-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen was very good.  Amed Rosario led the offense with two hits. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with only one being earned.  He walked two and struck out five and won his second game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up tow hits and he struck out one, Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and retired him and AJ Ramos pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk.  Jeurys Familia picked up his fifth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits but striking out the side. 

Jose Urena pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Urena took his second loss of the season.  Yunichi Tazawa pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a unearned run and two walks with two strikeouts, Kyle Barraclough pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Odrisamer Despaigne pitched an inning with a walk.  Tayron Guerrero pitched an inning with a strikeout.

Derek Dietrich had three hits and an RBI, Miguel Rojas had two hits and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Brian Anderson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Braxton Lee had a hit and Bryan Holaday had a hit and drew a walk.  Tomas Telis drew a walk, Anderson and Dietrich each hit a double and the Marlins were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Castro had a stolen base and Bour committed an error. 

In the second Gonzalez hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Plawecki grounded into a double play and a run scored to make it 2-0.  In the third Bruce hit an RBI single to push the Mets lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Dietrich hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the sixth Anderson hit an RBI double and it was 3-2.  In the seventh Rosario hit an RBI single to make it 4-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.   

New York Mets defeat the Washington Nationals to complete the sweep


The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Sunday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 6-5 in 12 innings.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen was good.  Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and Adrian Gonzalez had four RBI to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched five innings giving up nine hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout, AJ Ramos pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and retired him.  Seth Lugo won his first game of the season pitching three innings giving up a hit and three walks and three strikeouts.  Jacob Rhame pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and earned his first save of the season. 

Tanner Roark pitched five innings giving up five hits and five runs with four walks and nine strikeouts.  Shawn Kelley pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Matt Grace pitched an inning with a strikeout and Ryan Madson pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Sean Doolittle pitched an inning with two strikeouts, Sammy Solis pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out five and Brandon Kintzler pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and he took his second loss of the season.

Anthony Rendon had two hits and drew a walk, Bryce Harper had three hits, two RBI and drew two walks and Matt Adams had a hit and drew a walk.  Howie Kendrick had two hits and drew a walk, Trea Turner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Michael Taylor had two hits and an RBI.  Pedro Severino had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Wilmer Difo had a hit and Adams, Severino and Difo each hit a double.  Harper hit a homerun and the Nationals were 4-17 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.  Turner, Goodwin each had a stolen base and Rendon was caught stealing and picked off. 

In the first Harper hit a two-run homerun to give the Nationals a 2-0 lead.  In the third Gonzalez hit a grand slam to give the Mets a 4-2 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Severino hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the fifth Cabrera hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the fifth Turner hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the seventh Taylor hit an RBI single to tie the game at five.  In the 12th Cespedes hit an RBI single to make it 6-5 Mets and that would be the final score. 

The Mets swept the three game series and will now head to Miami on Monday night to begin a series there.

New York Yankees blow big early lead and lose in 12 innings to the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-7 in 12 innings.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well.  The bullpen was good and the Yankees had a bunch of guys with multi-hit games. 

Montgomery pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up ten hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Domingo German pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Chasen Shreve pitched a perfect inning, David Robertson pitched a perfect inning and Adam Warren took his first loss of the season pitching an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Mike Wright Jr. pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up five hits and five runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one.  Pedro Araujo pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out five, Miguel Castro pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Tanner Scott pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Darren O’Day pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two, Richard Bleier won his second game of the season pitching three innings and giving up three hits and a walk with a strikeout and Brad Brach pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout and he earned his second save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had two hits, Aaron Judge had two hits and drew two walks and Neil Walker had a hit and an RBI.  Tyler Austin had two hits and drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Jace Peterson had two hits.  Austin Romine had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a walk.  Torreyes, Gregorius and Austin each hit a double and the Yankees were 6-20 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.  Judge was caught stealing and Stanton committed an error. 

Trey Mancini had a hit and drew a walk, Manny Machado had two hits and an RBI and Jonathan Schoop had a hit.  Adam Jones had three hits, Danny Valencia had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Pedro Alvarez drew a walk.  Tim Beckham had two hits and an RBI, Anthony Santander had three hits and three RBI and Craig Gentry had three hits and an RBI.  Caleb Joseph drew a walk, Beckham hit a double and Valencia and Santander hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Gentry had two stolen bases, Wright Jr. committed an error and Brach committed an error. 

In the first Walker reached on a force attempt throwing error and the Yankees took a 1-0 lead.  Andujar hit a two-run single to push the lead to 3-0.  Romine hit an RBI single and Torreyes hit an RBI double and it was 5-0 Yankees.  In the second Santander hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the third Beckham hit an RBI single to make it a 5-2 game.  In the fifth Valencia hit a two-run homerun and it was 5-4.  In the fifth Romine hit an RBI single to push the lead to 6-4 Yankees.  In the sixth Machado hit an RBI single making it a 6-5 game.  In the seventh Santander hit a two-run homerun to give the Orioles a 7-6 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Romine hit an RBI single to tie the game at seven.  In the 12th Gentry hit an RBI single to give the Orioles a 8-7 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees had the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the 12th with Judge and Stanton coming up and they didn’t score a run as Judge hit into a 1-2-5 double play and Stanton struck out to end the game.  The Yankees lost three out of four and will head to Boston for a three-game series beginning on Tuesday night. 


New York Yankees end two game losing streak with win over the Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-3.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and pitched well.  The bullpen did their job as well and Brett Gardner and Tyler Austin each had two hits and two RBI and Ronald Torreyes had three hits. 

Gray won his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Adam Warren pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits, David Robertson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up no hits or runs and striking out four and Luis Cessa pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Chris Tillman lost his second game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Richard Bleier pitched to two batters and got them both out, Jimmy Yacabonis pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk. 

Gardner had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI and Giancarlo Stanton drew two walks.  Didi Gregorius drew two walks, Austin had two hits and two RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI.  Jace Peterson had a hit and drew a walk, Austin Romine had a hit and an RBI and Torreyes had three hits.  Gardner, Torreyes and Judge each hit a double and the Yankees were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gregorius had a stolen base and Peterson was caught stealing.  Gray committed an error. 

Trey Mancini had two hits, Manny Machado had a hit and two RBI and Chris Davis drew a walk.  Tim Beckham had a hit, Pedro Alvarez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Chance Sisco had a hit.  Machado, Alvarez and Mancini each hit a double.  The Orioles were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Santander and Mancini each had an outfield assist. 

In the second Gardner hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Machado hit a two-run double to tie the game at two.  In the fourth Alvarez hit an RBI double to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Judge hit an RBI ground out to tie the game at three.  In the sixth Andujar hit a sac fly, Romine hit an RBI single and it was 5-3 Yankees.  In the seventh Judge hit an RBI double and Austin hit a two-run single to make it 8-3 Yankees. 

The teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will try to split the four games and the Orioles will be looking to secure the series win with three out of four.   

New York Mets win a close one in Washington


The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Saturday.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. and the final score was 3-2.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched good and the bullpen also pitched well.  Asdrubal Cabrera and Jay Bruce each had two hits to lead the offense.   

Matz pitched five innings giving up three hits and 1 unearned run.  He walked two and struck out eight.  Hansel Robles won his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, AJ Ramos pitched a perfect inning and Jacob Rhame pitched to one batter and retired him.  Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and walked him and Jeurys Familia saved his fourth game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings striking out one. 

Gio Gonzalez pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with three walks and six strikeouts.  Matt Grace pitched 2/3 of an inning, Brandon Kintzler pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and took his first loss of the season.  Ryan Madson pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Sean Doolittle pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Cabrera had two hits and an RBI, Wilmer Flores drew a walk and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  Todd Frazier had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and an RBI and Bruce had two hits.  Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk, Brandon Nimmo drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Bruce, Frazier and Cabrera each hit a double.  The Mets were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left 9 men on base.  Nimmo had a stolen base, Frazier committed an error and Lagares had an outfield assist. 

Trea Turner had a hit and drew a walk, Bryce Harper had a hit, an RBI an ddrew a walk and Howie Kendrick had a hit.  Brian Goodwin drew a walk, Pedro Severino had two hits and an RBI.  Harper had a homerun and the Nationals were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Turner, Goodwin, Taylor, Severino and Harper each had a stolen base.  Goodwin committed an error. 

In the fifth Severino hit an RBI single to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the sixth Harper hit a solo homerun to make it 2-1 Nationals.  In the seventh Cabrera hit an RBI double to tie the game at two and Frazier hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 3-2 lead which would be the final score.
