The New York Mets take series from the San Francisco Giants

 The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.  The game took place at Citi Field in 

Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-2.  Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets and he pitched well.

Francisco Lindor led the offense with three hits.  


Carrasco won his first game of the season pitching 7 2/3 innings and giving up four hits and two runs with

seven strikeouts.  Joely Rodriguez pitched to one batter and got him out and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning

with two strikeouts.  


Anthony DeSclafani started for the Giants and he pitched five innings giving up nine hits and five runs 

with a walk and four strikeouts.  DeSclafani lost his first game of the season, Yunior Marte pitched an

inning with two walks and a strikeout and Tyler Beede pitched two innings giving up three hits and a 

run with a walk and a strikeout.  


Brandon Nimmo had a hit, RBI and drew a walk, Lindor had three hits and an RBI and Jeff McNeil

had a hit.  Pete Alonso had two hits, Eduardo Escobar had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Mark Canha

had two hits and two RBI.  Travis Jankowski drew a walk, Luis Guillorme had two hits and drew a walk.  

Tomas Nido had an RBI, McNeil hit a double, Lindor and Escobar each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 

2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Lindor was caught stealing and Guillorme

committed an error.


Mike Yastrzemski had two hits and an RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Thairo Estrada had a hit and an

RBI.  Yastrzemski hit a homerun and the Giants were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three

men on base.  


In the first Lindor hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Estrada hit an RBI 

single to tie the score at one.  Escobar hit a solo homerun in the second and Nido hit a sac fly giving the 

Mets a 3-1 lead.  In the third Canha hit a two-run single pushing the Mets lead to 5-1.  In the eighth 

Yastrzemski hit a solo homerun and Nimmo had an RBI single making the score 6-2 and that was the 

final score.  The Mets took three out of four in the series and will head to Arizona to begin a three-game 

series with the Diamondbacks on Friday night.

New York Mets fall to the San Francisco Giants

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Chris Bassitt started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well, the bullpen pitched well.  Pete Alonso led the offense with three hits and Brandon Nimmo and Eduardo Escobar each had two hits. 

Bassitt lost his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Sean Reid-Foley pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out three. 

Carlos Rodon started for the Giants and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Rodon won his second game of the season.  John Brebbia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Dominic Leone pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Tyler Rogers pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run.  Jake McGee pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and earned his second save of the season. 

Nimmo had two hits, Starling Marte had a hit and an RBI and Alonso had three hits.  Escobar had two hits and drew a walk, Mark Canha had a hit and an RBI and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  James McCann drew a walk, Escobar hit a double and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Marte was caught stealing and he had an outfield assist. 

Mike Yastrzemski had two hits and an RBI, Brandon Belt had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Darin Ruf drew a walk.  Joc Pederson had two hits and an RBI, Brandon Crawford had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Thairo Estrada drew a walk, Steven Duggar had a hit and Pederson hit a double.  Belt hit a homerun and the Giants were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Estrada had a stolen base. 

In the first Pederson hit an RBI double, Crawford hit an RBI single and Flores hit an RBI single giving the Giants a 3-0 lead.  In the second Belt hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  In the fourth Yastrzemski hit an RBI single extending the lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Marte hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 5-1 and in the bottom of the eighth Canha hit an RBI single making it a 5-2 game but that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday.

New York Yankees fail to sweep the Detroit Tigers

 The New York Yankees were shutout by the Detroit Tigers on Thursday afternoon.  The game took

place at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan and the final score was 3-0.  Jordan Montgomery started 

for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees offense was anemic.  


Montgomery pitched six innings giving up a run and three hits with two walks and five strikeouts.  

Montgomery took his first loss of the season, Miguel Castro pitched an inning giving up three hits

and two runs with a walk and Lucas Luetge pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk.


Michael Pineda started for the Tigers and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He

struck out two and won his first game of the season.  Jacob Barnes pitched an inning giving up a hit,

Wily Peralta pitched an inning striking out one and Alex Lange pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two

hits and he walked one.  Gregory Soto saved his third game of the season pitching 1 2/3 of an inning 

giving up a hit and he struck out one.


Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo had a hit and DJ LeMahieu had a hit.  Joey 

Gallo had a hit, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and Josh Donaldson had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, 

Donaldson hit a double and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on

base.  


Robbie Grossman had three hits and an RBI and drew a walk, Jonathan Schoop drew a walk and 

Miguel Cabrera drew a walk.  Austin Meadows had a hit and two RBI, Eric Haase drew a walk and 

Spencer Torkelson had a hit.  Willi Castro had a hit, Victor Reyes had a hit and Grossman, Reyes and 

Meadows each hit a double.  The Tigers were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on

base.  Castro was caught stealing.  


In the third Grossman hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Meadows hit a 

two-run double to push the lead to 3-0 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees took two of three

and will head home to begin a three-game series with the Cleveland Guardians on Friday night.

New York Yankees outlast the Detroit Tigers

 The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at 

Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan and the final score was 5-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees 

and he pitched well.  Chad Green wasn’t great but the rest of the pen was good and Anthony Rizzo

and Isiah Kiner-Falefa each had two hits to lead the offense.  


Severino pitched five innings giving up seven hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Green

pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Green won his first 

game of the season, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Clay Holmes pitched 

a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he earned 

his third save of the season.  


Eduardo Rodriguez started for the Tigers and pitched six innings giving up four hits, three runs and a walk

with five strikeouts.  Drew Hutchison pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and unearned run with a 

walk, Michael Fulmer pitched 2/3 of an inning and Joe Jimenez pitched an inning giving up a hit and a 

run with two strikeouts and Jason Foley pitched a perfect inning.  


Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI, Rizzo had two hits and two RBI and DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an

RBI.  Josh Donaldson drew a walk, Kiner-Falefa had two hits and an RBI and Kyle Higashioka drew a

walk.  Kiner-Falefa, Judge and Rizzo each hit a double, Rizzo hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-9 

with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Rizzo had a stolen base and LeMahieu was 

caught stealing and Stanton had an outfield assist.  


Robbie Grossman had a hit, Jeimer Candelario had two hits and Miguel Cabrera had three hits.  Victor 

Reyes had two hits and an RBI, Spencer Torkelson drew two walks and Harold Castro had a hit and 

two RBI.  Willi Castro had a hit, Tucker Barnhart had a hit and drew a walk and Candelario and Castro H 

each hit a double.  The Tigers were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

Reyes was caught stealing and Hutchison committed an error.  


In the second Reyes hit an RBI single giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  In the third Judge hit an RBI double to

tie the game at one.  Rizzo hit an RBI groundout giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Rizzo hit 

a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the sixth H. Castro hit a two-run double 

to tie the game at three.  In the seventh Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  

In the eighth LeMahieu reached on a fielders choice and a run scored making it 5-3 which was the final

score.  The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Thursday afternoon.

New York Mets shutout the Arizona Diamondbacks

 The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place

at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0.  David Peterson started for the Mets and

pitched well.  The bullpen was good and Eduardo Escobar led the offense with a couple of hits.  


Peterson pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  

Trevor Williams pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and striking out one, Chasen Shreve pitched 

two perfect innings with two strikeouts and he won his first game of the season.  Drew Smith pitched an 

inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning with a walk and striking 

out two.  


Humberto Castellanos started for the Diamondbacks and he pitched four innings giving up a hit with three

walks and struck out one.  Kyle Nelson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk, Noe Ramirez pitched 

2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs and took his first loss of the season.  Oliver Perez

pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Matt Peacock pitched two innings 

giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  


Jeff McNeil drew two walks, Francisco Lindor had a hit and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had a hit and

two RBI.  Escobar had two hits and drew a walk, Dom Smith drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit and 

an RBI.  James McCann had a hit and an RBI, Luis Guillorme drew a walk and Escobar hit a double.  

Alonso hit a homerun, the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  

McNeil and Davis each had a stolen base.


Ketel Marte had a hit and drew a walk, Carson Kelly had a hit and drew a walk and Christian Walker

had a hit.  Pavin Smith had a hit, Daulton Varsho had a hit and drew a walk and Geraldo Perdomo

drew a walk.  Kelly and Walker each hit a double and the Diamondbacks were 1-9 with runners in scoring 

position and left nine men on base and Smith committed an error.  


In the sixth Escobar hit an RBI double, Davis hit an RBI single and McCann hit a sacrifice fly to make

it 3-0.  In the seventh Alonso hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  5-0 would be the final score.

The Mets will begin a three game series with the San Francisco Giants Monday.

New York Mets fall short to the Arizona Diamondbacks

 The New York Mets were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.  The game took place 

at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets

and he pitched well.  Jeff McNeil had two hits to lead the offense.  


Carrasco pitched five innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Joely

Rodriguez lost his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run, Seth Lugo

pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Trevor May pitched 

an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up two hits and 

a walk with three strikeouts.  


Zac Gallen pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Kyle 

Nelson pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Sean Poppen won his first game of the season 

pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up nothing and Joe Mantiply pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and

struck out one.  Mark Melancon pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and he picked up his first

save of the season.


McNeil had two hits and drew a walk, Starling Marte had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Francisco 

Lindor drew a walk.  Robinson Cano had a hit, Dom Smith had a hit and Marte hit a homerun.  The Mets

left five men on base.


Daulton Varsho had a hit and drew a walk, Ketel Marte had two hits and an RBI and David Peralta had a

hit and drew a walk.  Seth Beer had three hits and drew a walk, Sergio Alcantara had a hit and two RBI

and Yonny Hernandez had a hit and drew a walk.  Peralta and Marte each hit a double, Alcantara hit a 

homerun.  The Diamondbacks were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  

Hernandez and Varsho had a stolen base.  


In the seventh Alcantara hit a two-run homerun giving the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead.  Marte hit an RBI

double pushing the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the eighth Marte hit a two-run homer cutting the lead 

to 3-2 which would be the final score.  



New York Yankees are shutout in Baltimore

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon.  The game took

place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 5-0.  Nestor Cortes started for

the Yankees and was great, offense was terrible and the pen sprung a leak late.  


Cortes pitched five innings and gave up three hits and no runs with one walk and 12 strikeouts.  Chad 

Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 

an inning giving up two hits, four runs and two walks with a strikeout.  Lucas Luetge pitched 1/3 of an

inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.


Bruce Zimmerman started for the Orioles and he pitched five innings giving up four hits and no runs with

two walks and six strikeouts.  Felix Bautista pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Dillon Tate

pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jorge Lopez pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts.


Aaron Hicks had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and DJ LeMahieu had two hits and drew a walk.  Kyle

Higashioka had a hit, Isiah Kiner-Falefa drew a walk and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring 

position and left seven men on base.  


Austin Hays had a hit, Ryan Mountcastle had two hits and Trey Mancini drew two walks.  Anthony 

Santander drew a walk, Robinson Chirinos drew a walk and Roughned Odor had a hit and two RBI.

Kelvin Gutierrez had two hits and two RBI, Jorge Mateo had three hits and an RBI.  Gutierrez hit a 

double and the Orioles were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Mateo 

had a stolen base and committed an error.  


In the eighth Odor hit a two-run single and Gutierrez hit a two-run double and Mateo hit an RBI single 

making it 5-0 Orioles and that was the final score.  The Yankees lost two out of three.  They will be off

Monday then begin a three game set with Detroit on Tuesday night.

Yankees get a victory in Baltimore

 The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night.  The game took place at 

Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Jameson Taillon started for the

Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched really well and Aaron Hicks, Josh Donaldson, Isiah

Kiner-Falefa and Jose Trevino each had two hits to lead the offense.  


Taillon pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up three hits, two runs a walk and two strikeouts.  J.P. Sears pitched

an inning giving up two hits, a walk and he struck out one and picked up his first win.  Michael King

pitched two innings giving up two hits, a walk and he struck out three and Clay Holmes pitched 1 1/3

innings striking out one and picking up his first save of the season.  


Tyler Wells started for the Orioles and he pitched four innings giving up three hits and two walks

with three strikeouts, Mike Baumann pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a run and a walk and Travis

Lakins Sr.  pitched an inning giving up five hits and four runs with a walk.  Paul Fry pitched 1 2/3 innings 

giving up a walk and he struck out one and Alexander Wells pitched two innings giving up three hits

and he struck out three.  


Hicks had two hits and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had a hit

and an RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, RBI and drew a walk, Donaldson had two hits, two RBI and 

drew a walk and Joey Gallo drew a walk.  Kiner-Falefa had two hits, Trevino had two hits and Stanton,

Trevino and Donaldson each hit a double.  Donaldson hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-15 with 

runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Hicks was caught stealing.  


Cedric Mullins had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Anthony Santander had a hit and Ryan Mountcastle 

had a hit.  Trey Mancini had two hits, Austin Hays had two hits and drew a walk and Anthony Bemboom

drew a walk.  Mullins hit a homerun and the Orioles were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left

eight men on base.  Bemboom committed an error and Mullins had an outfield assist.  


Mullins hit a two-run homerun in the third inning giving the Orioles a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Rizzo hit an

RBI single, Stanton hit an RBI double and Donaldson hit a two-run homer giving the Yankees a 4-2 lead.

In the sixth a wild pitch scored another run pushing the Yankees lead to 5-2.  The final score would be 5-2.

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.

New York Mets pound the Arizona Diamondbacks

 The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday afternoon at Citi Field in Flushing, 

New York and the final score was 10-3.   Chris Bassitt started for the Mets and pitched well.  Starling

Marte and Travis Jankowski each had three hits to lead the offense.


Bassitt won his second game of the season for the Mets pitching six innings and he gave up two hits and

a run with two walks with six strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched a perfect inning striking out the side,

Drew Smith pitched an inning with a walk and Sean Reid-Foley pitched an inning giving up a hit

and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  


Zach Davies pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with four being earned.  He walked

one and struck out two.  He took his first loss of the season.  J.B. Wendelken pitched 2/3 of an inning

with a strikeout and Caleb Smith pitched three innings giving up five hits and five runs with three walks 

and two strikeouts.  


Jeff McNeil had two hits, Marte had three hits and three RBI and Francisco Lindor had two hits, three RBI

and drew two walks.  Pete Alonso had two RBI and drew a walk, Eduardo Escobar had a hit and an RBI.

Robinson Cano had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis drew a walk and Jankowski had three hits.  Escobar hit

a double and Cano and Marte each hit a homerun.  Lindor hit two homeruns and the Mets were 2-9 with

runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Marte and Lindor each stole a base.  


Daulton Varsho had a hit and an RBI, Ketel Marte had a hit and David Peralta drew a walk.  Cooper 

Hummel drew a walk, Pavin Smith drew a walk and Seth Beer had a hit and an RBI.  Sergio Alcantara 

had an RBI, Jose Herrera drew a walk and Yonny Hernandez drew a walk.  Marte and Beer each hit

a double and Varsho hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left

five men on base.  Perdomo was caught stealing and Peralta committed an error.  


In the bottom of the first Alonso hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third Alonso

hit a sac fly making it 2-0 Mets.  In the fourth Cano hit a solo homer pushing the lead to 3-0 and in the 

fifth Lindor hit a two-run homer pushing the lead to 5-0.  In the sixth Varsho hit a solo homerun cutting 

the lead to 5-1.  In the seventh Escobar hit an RBI double making it 6-1.  In the eighth Marte hit a three

run homer extending the lead to 9-1.  Lindor hit a solo homerun and it was 10-1.  In the ninth Beer hit

a RBI double and Alcantara hit an RBI groundout making it 10-3 which was the final score.
