New York Yankees hold off the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-6.  Chad Green started as the opener and pitched well, the bullpen didn’t pitch very well.  Giancarlo Stanton had three hits and Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Nestor Cortes Jr. won his second game of the season pitching three innings and giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, David Hale pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman saved his 20th game of the season.  Chapman pitched to one batter and got him out.   

Framber Valdez pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Valdez lost his third game of the season.  Chris Devenski pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Josh James pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Hector Rondon pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts.  Rogelio Armenteros pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with a  walk and three strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Luke Voit had a hit and Sanchez had two hits and an RBI.  Stanton had three hits, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Torres had two hits and three RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk and Stanton and Maybin each hit a double.  Sanchez, Torres and LeMahieu each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Maybin had a stolen base. 

Alex Bregman had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Michael Brantley had a hit and Jose Altuve had a hit.  Yordan Alvarez had two hits and two RBI, Yuli Gurriel had a hit and Josh Reddick had two hits and an RBI.  Robinson Chirinos had a hit, Jake Marisnick had three hits and two RBI and Alvarez hit a double.  Marisnick hit two homeruns and Bregman and Alvarez each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the fourth Sanchez hit a solo homerun and Torres hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  LeMahieu hit a two-run homerun and it was 6-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Marisnick hit a solo homerun and Bregman hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the fifth Maybin hit a two-run double and the lead was 8-2 Yankees.  In the sixth Alvarez hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 8-3.  In the seventh Encarnacion hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 10-3.  In the eighth Reddick hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 10-4 and in the ninth Marisnick hit a solo homerun and Alvarez hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 10-6 which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night. 

New York Yankees pound the Tampa Bay Rays to sweep them


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 12-1.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  DJ LeMahieu and Gary Sanchez led the offense with two hits each. 

Sabathia won his fourth game of the season and his 250th career victory.  He pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning with a  walk and he struck out two and Luis Cessa pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts. 

Blake Snell started for the Rays and he lost his sixth game of the season.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and six runs with four walks.  Colin Poche pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two, Emilio Pagan pitched a perfect inning and Ryne Stanek pitched a perfect inning with a  strikeout.  Diego Castillo pitched a perfect inning, Adam Kolarek pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts and Oliver Drake pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Chaz Roe pitched to one batter and got him out and Daniel Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

LeMahieu had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Luke Voit drew two walks and Sanchez had two hits and four RBI.  Austin Romine had a hit, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk, Cameron Maybin drew a walk and Gio Urshela had a hit and an RBI.  Brett Gardner had a hit, Sanchez hit a double and a homerun and Torres hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base and Urshela committed an error. 

Tommy Pham had two hits and an RBI, Willy Adames had a hit and drew a walk and Ji-Man Choi drew two walks.  Robertson drew a walk, Pham hit two doubles and Adames hit a double.  The Rays were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Sanchez hit a three-run homerun and Urshela was hit by a pitch to drive in a run.  LeMahieu hit a two-run single and it was 6-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Pham hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 6-1.  In the seventh Sanchez hit an RBI double and Encarnacion hit an RBI single to push the lead to 8-1.  Torres hit a grand slam and the lead was 12-1 which was the final score. 

The Yankees swept the three-game series and will remain home to take on the Astros in a four-game series beginning on Thursday night. 

New York Mets pound the Atlanta Braves to even their series


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.  The game took place at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 10-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched well.  Pete Alonso led the offense with four hits and Jeff McNeil added three hits. 

deGrom pitched 8 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and ten strikeouts.  deGrom won his fourth game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched to two batters and struck them both out. 

Julio Teheran pitched four innings giving up eight hits and six runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Teheran lost his fifth game of the season.  Touki Toussaint pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts, Grant Dayton pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Josh Tomlin pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts. 

McNeil had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Alonso had four hits, three RBI and drew two walks and Robinson Cano had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Michael Conforto had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI.  Carlos Gomez had a hit and drew a walk, Tomas Nido had a hit and deGrom had a hit.  Alonso hit two doubles and McNeil, Conforto, deGrom and Cano each hit a double.  Alonso, Conforto and McNeil each hit a homerun and the Mets were 6-17 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Rosario, Gomez and McNeil each had a stolen base. 

Dansby Swanson had a hit, Freddie Freeman had a hit and an RBI and Josh Donaldson had two hits and an RBI.  Johan Camargo had a hit, Swanson hit a double and Freeman and Donaldson each hit a homerun.  The Braves were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the third Alonso hit an RBI double, Conforto hit an RBI double and Frazier hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.  Rosario hit an RBI single and it was 4-0 Mets.   In the fourth Alonso hit a two-run homerun tp push the Mets lead to 6-0.  In the sixth Cano hit an RBI double, Frazier had an RBI walk and the Mets lead was up to 8-0.  In the eighth Conforto hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 9-0.  In the ninth McNeil hit a solo homerun and it was 10-0.  In the bottom of the ninth Freeman hit a solo homerun and Donaldson hit a solo homerun making it a 10-2 game.  10-2 would be the final and the two teams will meet on Wednesday afternoon for the rubber game. 

New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.  The game took place at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 12-3.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Amed Rosario had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Wheeler lost his fifth game of the season and he pitched six innings giving up ten hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out four.  Jeurys Familia pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks, Drew Gagnon pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three walks and Brooks Pounders pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Mike Soroka pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Soroka won his eighth game of the season.  Jacob Webb pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk, A.J. Minter pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning.  Grant Dayton pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. 

Pete Alonso had a hit and an RBI, Robinson Cano had a hit and an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Wilson Ramos had a hit, Todd Frazier drew a walk and Rosario had two hits.  Juan Lagares drew a walk and Wheeler had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Dom Smith drew a walk, Rosario hit a double and Cano hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Rosario , had a stolen base, Alonso committed an error and Ramos had a pickoff. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had three hits and two RBI with a walk, Dansby Swanson drew a walk and Freddie Freeman had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Josh Donaldson had two hits, Nick Markakis had two hits and two RBI and Austin Riley drew two walks.  Brian McCann had three hits, two RBI and drew two walks, Ozzie Albies had three hits and four RBI and Matt Joyce had a hit.  Acuna Jr., McCann and Albies each hit a homerun and the Braves were 5-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Acuna Jr. was picked off. 

In the first Acuna Jr. hit a solo homerun, Markakis reached on a fielding error to allow a run to score and it was 2-0 Braves.  In the third Alonso hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Wheeler hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the fifth Markakis hit a two-run single and the Braves took a 4-2 lead.  Albies hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 5-2.  In the sixth Cano hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Albies hit a two-run single and the lead was 7-3.  Acuna hit an RBI single, Freeman drew an RBI walk and it was 9-3.  In the eighth McCann hit a two-run homerun and Albies hit a solo homerun to make it a 12-3 game and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees double up the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-3.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched pretty well and the bullpen was good.  Luke Voit and Cameron Maybin each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched five innings giving up seven hits and two runs with three strikeouts.  Happ won his seventh game of the season.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Aroldis Chapman saved his 19th game of the season pitching an inning and striking out the side. 

Ryne Stanek served as the opener and pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  Ryan Yarbrough pitched three innings giving up a hit and struck out two, Chaz Roe pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up five hits and three runs with two strikeouts and Roe lost his third game of the season.  Oliver Drake pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Andrew Kittredge pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Voit had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit and two RBI.  Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and an RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Maybin had three hits and an RBI.  Voit hit a double and Maybin and Encarnacion each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Travis d’Arnaud had two hits and an RBI, Tommy Pham had two hits and Avisail Garcia had a hit and an RBI.  Willy Adames had a hit, Keven Kiermaier had a hit and Guillermo Heredia had a hit and drew a walk.  Mike Zunino had a hit and an RBI, Joey Wendle drew a walk and Pham and d’Arnaud each hit a double.  The Rays were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Sanchez hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Zunino hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the third Garcia hit an RBI single to give the Rays a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth LeMahieu hit an RBI single to tie the game at two, Voit hit an RBI single and Sanchez hit an RBI single to make it a 4-2 game.  In the seventh d’Arnaud hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Maybin hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 5-3.  In the eighth Encarnacion hit a solo homerun making it a 6-3 game and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have taken the first two games of the series and will try and sweep the series on Wednesday afternoon. 

New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays behind a dominant Masahiro Tanaka


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Cameron Maybin led the offense with three hits. 

Tanaka pitched a complete game shutout giving up two hits and he walked one and struck out ten.  Tanaka earned his fifth win of the season. 

Yonny Chirinos pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts and he lost his third game of the season.  Jake Faria pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Adam Kolarek pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and two RBI, Luke Voit had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Maybin had three hits and an RBI and Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk.  Hicks hit a double and LeMahieu and Maybin each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Austin Meadows had a hit and drew a walk, Willy Adames had a hit.   Meadows was caught stealing and Kiermaier committed an error. 

In the third LeMahieu hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  IN the fifth Maybin hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night. 

New York Mets lose a close one to the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he pitched ok[GM1] .  Dom Smith and Juan Lagares each had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Vargas pitched four innings giving up a hit and three runs with two being earned.  He walked three and struck out four.  Wilmer Font pitched three innings giving up a walk and he struck out three, Chris Flexen pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and he lost his third game of the season.  Brooks Pounders pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Dakota Hudson pitched six innings giving up eight hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Carlos Martinez earned his second save of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Smith had two hits and drew a walk, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Pete Alonso had a hit, Robinson Cano had a hit and drew a walk and Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit and an RBI.  Lagares had two hits and an RBI, Todd Frazier had a hit and Jacob deGrom drew a walk.  Smith and Cano each hit a double and the Mets were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Lagares had a stolen base and Hechavarria committed two errors. 

Paul DeJong had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Paul Goldschmidt had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Jose Martinez drew a walk.  Yadier Molina had a hit, Goldschmidt and DeJong each hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Fowler had an outfield assist. 

In the first Goldschmidt hit a two-run homerun to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Davis hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Hechavarria hit an RBI single to tie the game at two, Lagares hit an RBI single to make it 3-2 Mets.  In the fourth Molina hit into a double play but the score was tied at three.  In the eighth DeJong hit a solo homerun giving the Cardinals a 4-3 lead and that would be the final score.  The Cardinals won three of four in the series.  The Mets will now head to Atlanta to take on the Braves on Monday night.

New York Mets hold on for win over the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-7.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he was shaky.  J.D. Davis had four hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched six innings giving up six hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five and he won his fifth game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts and Edwin Diaz picked up his 15th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout.   

Michael Wacha lost his third game of the season pitching four innings and giving up seven hits and six runs with five being earned.  He walked one and struck out four.  Genesis Cabrera pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts, Giovanny Gallegos pitched 1 1/3 innings and Tyler Webb pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  John Brebbia pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.

Matt Carpenter had a hit and an RBI, Dexter Fowler had two hits and three RBI and Paul DeJong had three hits and an RBI.  Marcell Ozuna had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Yadier Molina had a hit and an RBI and Kolten Wong had two hits.  Paul Goldschmidt drew a walk, Yairo Munoz had a hit and Wacha had a hit.  Jose Martinez drew two walks, Carpenter and Wong each hit a double.  Fowler hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  DeJong, Edman, Ozuna and Munoz each had a stolen base.  Wong had two stolen bases.  Wong committed an error. 

Fowler hit a solo homerun in the first to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Alonso hit a three-run homerun, Ramos hit an RBI double and Gomez hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 5-1 lead.  In the second Davis hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 6-1.  In the third Ozuna hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the fifth Fowler hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 6-3.  In the sixth Conforto hit an RBI single and Frazier drew an RBI walk to make it an 8-3 game.  In the seventh Carpenter hit an RBI double, Fowler hit an RBI single and DeJong hit a sac fly making it an 8-6 game.  In the ninth Molina hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-7 but that was the final score.

New York Yankees pound the Chicago White Sox to split the series


The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 10-3.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen did a good job and DJ LeMahieu, Brett Gardner, Gio Urshela, Austin Romine and Cameron Maybin each had two hits. 

Paxton won his fourth game of the season and pitched six innings giving up eight hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, David Hale pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Zach Britton pitched a perfect inning. 

Odrisamer Despaigne pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Jose Ruiz pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Aaron Bummer pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Thyago Vieira pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  Alex Colome pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had two hits, Luke Voit had a hit and drew two walks and Gleyber Torres drew three walks.  Clint Frazier had a hit, Gardner had two hits and four RBI and Urshela had two hits and an RBI.  Mike Tauchman drew a walk, Romine had two hits and four RBI and Maybin had two hits and an RBI.  Romine and Urshela each hit a double and Maybin hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-14 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Maybin was caught stealing. 

Leury Garcia had a hit, Tim Anderson had a hit and Jose Abreu had three hits and an RBI.  James McCann had two hits and two RBI, Juan Moncada drew a walk and Jose Rondon drew a walk.  Welington Castillo had a hit, Yonder Alonso had a hit and Abreu and McCann each hit a homerun.  The White Sox were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Abreu hit a solo homerun to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gardner hit a two-run single to give the Yankee a 2-1 lead.  Urshela hit an RBI single and Romine hit a two-run single making it a 5-1 game.  In the fifth Romine hit a two-run double to push the Yankees lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of the fifth McCann hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the sixth Gardner hit into an RBI ground out to make it a 8-2 game.  In the seventh Maybin hit a solo homerun making it 9-2.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI single and it was 10-2.  In the bottom of the eighth McCann hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 10-3 and that would be the final score. 
The Yankees ended up with a four-game split and will return home to take on the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game series beginning on Monday night

New York Yankees end three game losing streak with win over the Chicago White Sox


The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.  Chad Green started as the opener and pitched great, Nestor Cortes Jr. also gave them five strong innings.  DJ LeMahieu, Didi Gregorius and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out six.  Cortes Jr. pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs, with no walks and seven strikeouts and picked up his first win, Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Reynaldo Lopez pitched six innings giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Juan Minaya pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout, Josh Osich pitched to one batter and got him out and Thyago Vieira pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Manny Banuelos pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and he struck out one. 

LeMahieu had two hits, Luke Voit had a hit and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks, Gregorius had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Torres had two hits and three RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI, Brett Gardner drew three walks and LeMahieu and Sanchez each hit a double.  Maybin and Torres each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base and committed an error. 

Leury Garcia had a hit, Tim Anderson had a hit and Jose Abreu had two hits.  James McCann had a hit and three RBI, Eloy Jimenez had two hits and Jose Rondon had a hit.  Yolmer Sanchez had a hit, Ryan Cordell had a hit and McCann hit a homerun.  The white Sox were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the fourth Sanchez hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Torres hit a two-run homerun to push their lead to 4-0.  In the sixth Torres hit a sac fly to make it a 5-0 game.  In the seventh Maybin hit a solo homerun to extend their lead to 6-0.  Sanchez hit an RBI ground out making it 7-0.  In the eighth Abreu hit an RBI single and McCann hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to a 7-4 lead.  In the ninth Gregorius drew an RBI walk to make it 8-4 and that would be the final score of the game.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will try and even the series before returning home to face the Rays on Monday night.
