New York Yankees shutout the Houston Astros for second straight game


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-0.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Giancarlo Stanton was the offense star with three hits including two homeruns. 

Severino pitched a complete game shutout.  He gave up five hits and a walk and struck out ten.  Severino improved his record to 5-1. 

Dallas Keuchel lost his fifth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and three runs with five strikeouts.  Hector Rondon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Colin McHugh pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Stanton had three hits and four RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a couple of hits, Judge, Romine, Hicks and Stanton each hit a double and Stanton hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Hicks had a stolen base. 

Jose Altuve had a hit, Yuri Gurriel had a hit and Josh Reddick had two hits.  Alex Bregman had a hit, Marwin Gonzalez drew a walk and Reddick hit a double and the Astros were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Bregman committed an error and Reddick had an outfield assist. 

In the first Stanton hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Stanton hit a solo homerun to make it 3-0 and in the eighth Stanton hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-0 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will close out the series with a game on Thursday afternoon.  The Yankees are looking to finish by winning the series and go 6-1 on the road trip.   

New York Yankees defeat the Houston Astros with some late thunder


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-0.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he only lasted an inning and came out with an injury.  The bullpen pitched well and Didi Gregorius and Gary Sanchez each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched a perfect inning.  Domingo German pitched four innings giving up four hits and a walk and he struck out four.  Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out the side and David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and picked up his second win of the season.  Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Justin Verlander pitched eight innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and 14 strikeouts.  Ken Giles took the loss pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout and Will Harris pitched 2/3 of an inning retiring both batters that he faced. 

Aaron Judge had a hit, Gregorius had two hits and Sanchez had two hits and three RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Gregorius hit a double and Sanchez hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Hicks had a stolen base. 

George Springer had a hit, Jose Altuve had a hit and Carlos Correa drew a walk.  Yuri Gurriel had two hits, Marwin Gonzalez had a hit and Jake Marisnick had a hit.  Marisnick hit a double and the Astros were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the ninth Sanchez broke up a scoreless game with a three-run homerun and a wild pitch scored a fourth run to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams have split the first two games and will play game three of four on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees lose a tough one in Houston


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Monday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 2-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees offense only managed three hits. 

Gray lost his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked three and struck out four.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Charlie Morton won his fourth game of the season.  He pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and ten strikeouts.  Brad Peacock walked the only batter that he faced, Chris Devenski pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Ken Giles saved his third game pitching a perfect inning with three strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Torres hit a double and the Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Torres had a stolen base. 

George Springer had a hit, Jose Altuve had a hit and Carlos Correa had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Yurli Gurriel had a hit and an RBI, Alex Bregman drew two walks and Gurriel and Correa each hit a double.  The Astros were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Correa hit an RBI ground out to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Gurriel hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.   

New York Mets blow out the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 14-2.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen was great.  Adrian Gonzalez led the offense with three hits and five RBI. 

Wheeler won his second game of the season and pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs.  He walked two and struck out nine.  Paul Sewald pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out three, Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and Matt Harvey pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Bryan Mitchell pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Jordan Lyles pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with a walk, Phil Maton pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Kazuhisa Makita pitched an inning giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Michael Conforto had two hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits.  Brandon Nimmo had two hits and an RBI, Jay Bruce had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Todd Frazier had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Gonzalez had three hits and five RBI, Jose Reyes had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Tomas Nido had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores drew a walk, Cespedes and Gonzalez each hit a double and Gonzalez, Frazier and Reyes each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 7-13 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Reyes and Bruce each had a stolen base and Cespedes had two stolen bases.  Nido committed two errors. 

Manuel Margot had two hits, Eric Hosmer had three hits and Christian Villanueva drew a walk.  Franchy Cordero had a hit, Jose Pirela had a hit and drew a walk and Freddy Galvis had a hit and two RBI.  A.J. Ellis had two hits, Travis Jankowski had a hit and Margot and Hosmer each hit a double.  The Padres were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Margot had a stolen base. 

In the first Bruce hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nido hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the third Gonzalez hit a two-run double and it was 4-0 Mets.  In the third Galvis hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the seventh Gonzalez hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 7-2.  Cabrera hit a two-run single and it was 9-2.  In the eighth Frazier hit a two-run homerun to extend the Yankees lead to 11-2.  Reyes hit a solo homerun and Conforto hit an RBI single to make it 13-2.  Nimmo hit an RBI single to push the lead to 14-2 and that was the final score. 

The Mets will have off on Monday and start a three game series with the Braves on home on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees complete three game sweep of the Anaheim Angels


The New York Yankees defeated the Anaheim Angels on Sunday night.  The game took place at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California and the final score was 2-1.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Gary Sanchez led the offense with a two-run homerun and Giancarlo Stanton had a good night. 

Sabathia pitched seven innings giving up a run on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Sabathia picked up his second win of the season.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and he saved his sixth game of the season. 

Tyler Skaggs pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Skaggs lost his second game of the season.  Justin Anderson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out three, Jose Alvarez pitched a perfect inning and Cam Bedrosian pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Stanton had a hit and drew a walk, Sanchez had a hit and two RBI and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk, Stanton and Hicks each hit a double and Sanchez hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Ian Kinsler had a hit, Mike Trout drew two walks and Justin Upton had a hit.  Albert Pujols had a hit, Andrelton Simmons had a hit and Zach Cozart had a hit.  Chris Young drew a walk, Rene Rivera had a hit and Kinsler hit a double and the Angels were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Young had a stolen base. 

In the fourth Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth a wild pitch cut the lead to 2-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees completed the three game sweep and will now head to Houston for four beginning on Monday night.   

New York Yankees smash the Anaheim Angels


The New York Yankees defeated the Anaheim Angels on Saturday night.  The game took place at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California and the final score was 11-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Aaron Judge and Miguel Andujar led the offense with three hits each. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Tanaka won his fourth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and A.J. Cole pitched two innings giving up four hits and he walked one and struck out one. 

Garrett Richards lost his first game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up five hits and nine runs with five of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out two.  Eduardo Paredes pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Jose Alvarez pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Noe Ramirez pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Blake Parker pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Judge had three hits and an RBI and Didi Gregorius drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Gary Sanchez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks.  Neil Walker had two hits and two RBI, Andujar had three hits and an RBI and Gleyber Torres had two hits and an RBI.  Sanchez hit two doubles, Andujar, Judge, Torres each hit a double and Hicks hit a triple.  The Yankees were 5-17 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

Ian Kinsler had a hit, Mike Trout had a hit and drew a walk and Rene Rivera had a hit.  Luis Valbuena had two hits, Zack Cozart had a hit and an RBI and Kole Calhoun had a hit.  Jefry Marte drew a walk, Martin Maldonado drew a walk and Valbuena hit a double and Cozart hit a homerun.  The Angels were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Cozart committed an error and Maldonado had a passed ball. 

In the first Stanton reached on a force attempt error and a run scored, Sanchez hit an RBI double, Hicks hit an RBI ground out and Walker struck out but reached first on a passed ball after a replay review and a run scored to make it 4-0.  Andujar hit an RBI double and it was 5-0 all in the first inning.  In the second Judge hit an RBI double, Hicks hit a two-run triple and Walker hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 9-0.  Torres hit an RBI single and it was 10-0 in the second inning.  In the fifth Cozart hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 10-1 and in the eighth Walker hit an RBI single to make it 11-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will go for the sweep on Sunday night.
