The New York Mets lose a tight one to the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.  The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 2-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched well and Ruben Tejada, Kevin Plawecki and Michael Cuddyer each had two hits. 

deGrom pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  deGrom lost his fifth game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin gave up a hit and a walk and didn't record an out, Bobby Parnell pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Jeurys Familia struck out the only batter that he faced. 

Matt Wisler pitched eight innings giving up six hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Wisler won his first game of the season.  Jason Grilli saved his 19th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Tejada had two hits, Cuddyer had two hits and an RBI and Plawecki had two hits.  Tejada hit a double and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Granderson committed an error. 

Jace Peterson had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Cameron Maybin drew a walk and Nick Markakis had a hit.  Andrelton Simmons had two hits, Pedro Ciriaco had a hit.  Simmons and Peterson each hit a double.  The Braves were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Peterson was caught stealing, Uribe committed an error. 

In the sixth Cuddyer hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Peterson hit a two run double to give the Braves a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.   

The New York Yankees defeat Detroit Tigers for third straight win



The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New  York and the final score was 7-2.  Adam Warren started and pitched very well.  Alex Rodriguez picked up his 3000th hit with a homerun. 

Warren pitched eight innings giving up two runs on seven hits.  He walked none and struck out seven and picked up his fifth win of the season.  Brandon Pinder pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Justin Verlander lost his first game of the season after coming back from injury.  He pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and six runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Tom Gorzelanny pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk. 

Brett Gardner had four hits and three RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and Rodriguez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira had a hit and an RBI, Carlos Beltran drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Stephen Drew had two hits, John Ryan Murphy had a hit and Mason Williams had a hit.  Chris Young had a hit which was a double, Rodriguez, Gardner and Gregorius each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner was picked off.  Headley committed an error and Warren had a pickoff. 

Anthony Gose had a hit, Ian Kinsler had a hit and Miguel Cabrera had two hits.  Victor Martinez had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and J.D. Martinez had a hit.  Bryan Holaday had a hit and two RBI, Cespedes hit a double and the Tigers were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gose was picked off and Verlander had a pick off. 

In the first Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead and it was his 3000th hit.  In the second Holaday hit a two run single to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.  Gregorius hit a solo homerun in the second to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Gardner hit a two run homerun giving the Yankees a 4-2 lead.  A wild pitch in the seventh made it a 5-2 game.  Teixeira hit an RBI single and in the eighth Gardner hit an RBI single to make it 7-2 which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.  It is also Old Timers Day for the Yankees and they will honor Willie Randolph before the game.

The New York Mets get shutout by the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Mets were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the final score was 8-0.  Jon Niese started and pitched ok and Akeel Morris in his Mets debut wasn't very good.  There wasn't a Mets player who had more than a hit. 

Niese lost his seventh game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked four and struck out six.  Morris pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and five runs with three walks.   Jack Leathersich pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and striking out one. 

Drew Hutchison pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out five and won his sixth game of the season.  Steve Delabar pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two, Liam Hendriks pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Aaron Loup pitched to one batter and retired him.  Ryan Tepera pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk and Michael Cuddyer had a hit.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit, Ruben Tejada had a hit and Dilson Herrera had a hit.  Granderson, Tejada and Cuddyer each hit a double adn the Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Herrera had a stolen base and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Jose Reyes drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk adn Jose Bautista drew two walks.  Chris Colabello had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Ezequiel Carrera had a hit and an RBI and Russell Martin had a hit and an RBI.  Danny Valencia had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Kevin Pillar had three hits and two RBI, Anthony Goins had two hits and drew two walks, Donaldson hit a double and Pillar and Valencia each hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Valencia was caught stealing. 

In the second Pillar hit an RBI single to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Colabello hit an RBI single to make it 2-0  Toronto.  In the seventh Pillar hit a solo homerun to extend the Blue Jays lead to 3-0.  Carrera hit an RBI single in the eighth to push the lead to 4-0.  Martin hit an RBI single and Valencia hit a three run homerun and the game was out of reach at 8-0 Blue Jays.  The final score was 8-0 and the two teams will play their last of the four in a row on Thursday night. 

The New York Yankees return home to defeat the Miami Marlins



The New York Yankees defeated the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Michael Pineda started and pitched great carrying a no hitter into the seventh inning.  Alex Rodriguez and Carlos Beltran each had two hits. 

Pineda pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Pineda won his eighth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and struck him out, Justin Wilson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Dellin Betances saved his fourth game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Jose Urena pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with four walks and a strikeout.  Urena lost his third game of the season.  Brad Hand pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Mike Dunn pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Chase Headley had a hit and Rodriguez had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks.  Garrett Jones drew a walk, Beltran had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Stephen Drew had a walk.  Mason Williams had a hit, Gardner hit a double and the Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Rodriguez had a stolen base. 

Christian Yelich had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Marcell Ozuna had a hit and Justin Bour drew two walks.  Adeiny Hechavarria drew a walk, Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and Yelich hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ozuna had an outfield assist. 

In the first Rodriguez hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Beltran hit an RBI single to increase the Yankees lead to 2-0.  Miami got on the board in the seventh with a Yelich solo homerun which was their only run and also their first hit of the game.  The final score was 2-1.  The two teams will play one more game on Thursday night at Yankee Stadium.

New York Mets win second in a row over Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Mets defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched well and Juan Lagares and Darrell Ceciliani each had two hits. 

Harvey pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Harvey won his seventh game of the season.  Carlos Torres pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and Bobby Parnell saved his first game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out two. 

Scott Copeland pitched four innings giving up eight hits and three runs with a strikeout.  Copeland lost his first game of the season.  Bo Schultz pitched two innings giving up a hit and striking out one, Ryan Tepera pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Roberto Osuna pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Lagares had two hits, Lucas Duda had a hit and Travis d'Arnaud had a hit.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI, Ceciliani had two hits and Ruben Tejada had a hit and an RBI.  Harvey had a hit and an RBI, Flores and Harvey each hit a double and the Mets were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Lagares had a stolen base and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Josh Donaldson drew a walk and Bautista had a hit and an RBI.  Edwin Encarnacion had two hits and an RBI, Colabello had a hit and Carrera had a hit.  Anthony Goins drew a walk, Kevin Pillar had a hit and Encarnacion hit a double.  Bautista hit a triple and the Blue Jays were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the second Tejada hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Harvey hit an RBI double to make it 2-0 Mets.  Flores hit a sacrfice fly in the third and it was 3-0 Mets.  In the eighth Bautista hit a sac fly to make it a 3-1 game and Encarnacion hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2 but that would be the final score. 

The two teams will now play the next two games at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.   

New York Mets end the 11 game win streak of the Toronto Blue Jays in extra innings



The New York Mets defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, new York and the final score was 4-3 in 11 innings.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched great.  The bullpen blew the lead to send it to extra innings.  Lucas Duda had two hits. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and 11 strikeouts.  Carlos Torres pitched an inning with a strikeout, Jack Leathersich pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and Jeurys Familia pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Familia also blew his second save of the season.  Hansel Robles picked up his first win of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a run with a walk. 

Mark Buehrle pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out five.  Steve Delabar pitched a pefect inning with a strikeout, Roberto Osuna pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Aaron Loup pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Brett Cecil blew his second save and also lost his third game of the season.  He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hti and two runs with a walk and Liam Hendriks gave up a hit to the only batter that he faced. 

 

Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI, Ruben Tejada had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Duda had two hits and an RBI.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI, Dilson Herrera had a hit, Kevin Plawecki drew a walk and Duda, Lagares and Tejada each hit a double.  The Mets werre 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Jose Bautista had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and drew a walk and Carrera drew a walk.  Chris Colabello had two hits, Dioner Navarro had an RBI and drew a walk and Justin Smoak drew a walk.  Encarnacion hit a double, Bautista hit two homeruns and the Blue Jays were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Reyes committed an error. 

In the first Bautista hit a solo homerun to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Lagares hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  Teajada hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the ninth Bautista hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two and in the eleventh Navarro hit a sac fly to give the Jays a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the eleventh Duda hit an RBI single to tie the game at three and Flores hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 4-3 walk-off win.   

The New York Yankees get blown away in Miami



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 12-2.  Nathan Eovaldi started and couldn't even get out of the first inning.  Chris Capuano pitched decently in relief and the Yankees offense didn't do much of anything until the end of the game. 

Eovaldi pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up eight runs on nine hits.  He didn't walk anyone or strike out anyone and lost his second game of the season.  Capuano pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Chris Martin pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit adn a run and Jose Ramirez pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts. 

David Phelps won his fourth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Steve Cishek pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Sam Dyson pitched a perfect inning. 

Mason Williams had a hit and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Mark Teixeira drew a walk.  John Ryan Murphy had a hit, Brian McCann had two hits and an RBI and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  Stephen Drew had a walk, Garrett Jones had a hit and Beltran and Williams each hit a double.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Dee Gordon had three hits and an RBI, Derek Dietrich had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Christian Yelich had two hits and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had two hits and three RBI, Ichiro Suzuki drew a walk and Marcel Ozuna had two hits and two RBI.  Justin Bour had a hit and an RBI, J.T. Realmuto had two hits and two RBI and Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits and two RBI.  Dietrich hit a double, Hechavarria hit a triple and Stanton hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 9-18 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Dietrich and Hechavarria each committed an error.  Realmuto had a passed ball. 

In the first Ozuna hit an RBI single making it 2-0 Miami.  Bour and Realmuto each hit an RBI single.  Hechavarria hit a two run triple, Gordon hit an RBI single and Dietrich hit an RBI double all in the first inning to make it 8-0 Marlins.  In the fifth Stanton hit a three run homerun to push the lead to 11-0.  In the sixth McCann hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 11-1 and in the seventh Williams hit an RBI double to make it 11-2 Marlins.  In the eighth Realmuto hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 12-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will now head to New York to play the next two at Yankee Stadium. 

The New York Yankees lose a close one in Miami



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 2-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started and pitched very well for the Yankees.  Didi Gregorius had two of the teams three hits in the game. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up nine hits and two runs.  He didn't walk a batter and struck out six and lost his second game of the season.  Jose Ramirez didn't record an out and gave up a hit, a walk and hit a batter, Sergio Santos pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  He came into the eighth inning with the bases loaded and no outs and got out of it. 

Tom Koehler started for the Marlins and pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  Koehler won his fifth game of the season.  Carter Capps pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and A.J. Ramos pitched an inning walking one and striking out two and he picked up  his ninth save of the season. 

Brian McCann drew two walks, Mark Teixeira had a hit and an RBI and Garrett Jones drew a walk.  Gregorius had two hits including a double and Teixeira hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Teixeira committed an error.  Tanaka had a pickoff. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Ichiro Suzuki had two hits and Christian Yelich had two hits.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Justin Bour drew a walk and Derek Dietrich had two hits and an RBI.  Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits and an RBI, Dietrich and Gordon each hit a double and Dietrich hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Hechavarria was picked off. 

In the second Teixeira hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Hechavarria hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the seventh Dietrich hit a solo homerun to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.

The New York Yankees avoid the sweep with win over the Baltimore Orioles



The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 5-3.  Adam Warren started and had a rough first inning and didn't last long in the game.  The bullpen was great and John Ryan Murphy had three hits. 

Warren pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve won his third game of the season and pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and a strikeout, Justin Wilson pitched two innings striking out three and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout saving his third game of the season. 

Mike Wright pitched four innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Brian Matusz pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts and Tyler Wilson pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a strikeout.

Manny Machado had a hit and drew two walks, Jimmy Paredes had a hit and Adam Jones had a hit.  Chris Davis drew two walks, Nick Reimold had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and J.J. Hardy had a hit.  Corban Joseph had a hit and an RBI, Joseph hit a double and the Orioles were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Teixeira hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Reimold hit a two run single to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead.  In the second Gardner hit a sac fly to tie the game at two.  In the fourth Joseph hit an RBI double to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead.  Jones had an RBI walk in the fifth to tie the game at three and Murphy hit a two run double giving the Yankees a 5-3 lead.  The final score was 5-3.  The Yankees salvaged the final game of a three game series and will head to Miami for the first of two before returning home to play Miami two games.
