New York Yankees offense continues to struggle in loss to Orioles

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 4-2.  Nestor Cortes started for the Yankees, and he pitched ok, Luke Weaver was great in relief.  Juan Soto and Austin Wells led the offense with two hits each.   

Cortes pitched six innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Cortes took his third loss of the season.  Weaver pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Dean Kremer started for the Orioles and he pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and four strikeouts.  He won his second game of the season.  Keegan Akin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jacob Webb pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. 

Anthony Volpe had a hit, Soto had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Judge drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk, Austin Wells had two hits and an RBI and Trent Grisham drew a walk.  Wells and Soto each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Torres committed an error. 

Gunnar Henderson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Adley Rutschman had two hits and an RBI and Anthony Santander had a hit and drew a walk.  Jordan Westburg had a hit, Jorge Mateo had a hit and Cedric Mullins had a hit.  James McCann had a hit and an RBI, Colton Cowser had a hit and Santander, Mateo and McCann each hit a double.  The Orioles were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Mullins was caught stealing. 

In the bottom of the second Westburg reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the third Wells hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the bottom of the fourth McCann hit an RBI double giving the Orioles a 2-1 lead.  Henderson hit an RBI single and the lead was extended to 3-1.  Rutschman hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 4-1.  In the sixth Soto hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 but that was the closest it would be.  The final score was 4-2 Orioles.  The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night. 

New York Yankees shutout in Baltimore

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 2-0.  Clarke Schmidt started for the Yankees, and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched well, and the offense didn’t do much.  Gleyber Torres had two hits to lead the offense.

Schmidt pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts.  Schmidt took his first loss of the season.  Dennis Santana pitched 1 1/3 innings, Caleb Ferguson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run and Clay Holmes pitched 1/3 of an inning striking out one. 

Grayson Rodriguez started for the Orioles, and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and no runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  He picked up his fourth win of the season.  Cionel Perez pitched an inning giving up a hit, Yennier Cano pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and Danny Coulombe pitched a perfect inning earning his first save of the season. 

Anthony Volpe drew a walk; Juan Soto had a hit and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk; Austin Wells had a hit and Torres had two hits.  Trent Grisham had a hit and drew a walk, Wells hit a double and the Yankes were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Volpe committed an error. 

Gunnar Henderson had a hit and an RBI, Adley Rutschman had a hit and Ryan O’Hearn had a hit and drew a walk.  Cedric Mullins drew a walk, Jordan Westburg had a hit and Colton Cowser drew a walk.  Henderson hit a homerun and the Orioles were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Westburg was caught stealing and Santander had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the first Henderson hit a solo homerun giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Santander reached on a fielding error and a run scored pushing the lead to 2-0 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees slug the Milwaukee Brewers

 The New York Yankees defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.  The game took place at

American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 15-3.  Carlos Rodon started

For the Yankees and he pitched great.  The bullpen pitched well including Jose Trevino making his

First ever pitching appearance.  The offense had many stars including Aaron Judge, Alex Verdugo, 

Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo who all hit a homerun.  

Rodon pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Rodon won his

Second game of the season.  Luke Weaver pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with two 

Strikeouts and Trevino pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk.  

Joe Ross started for the Brewers and he pitched five innings giving up eight hits and seven runs with six

Being earned.  He walked three and struck out five and took his third loss of the season.  Thyago Vieira

Pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with two walks and a strikeout, Janson Junk pitched

An inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Owen Miller pitched two innings giving up five

Hits and four runs with a walk.  

Anthony Volpe drew a walk, Juan Soto had a hit and drew two walks and Taylor Trammell had a hit.  

Judge had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Jahmai Jones had a hit and Verdugo had three hits and 

Four RBI.  Stanton had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Rizzo had three hits and two RBI and 

Gleyber Torres had three hits and three RBI.  Austin Wells had two hits and drew a walk, Oswaldo 

Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Torres and Wells each hit a double.  Verdugo, Judge, Rizzo and Stanton

Each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 6-14 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  

William Contreras drew a walk, Rhys Hoskins had a hit and an RBI and Jake Bauers drew a walk.  

Blake Perkins drew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI and Joey Ortiz had two hits and an RBI.  

Jackson Chourio had a hit, Ortiz hit two doubles and Chourio hit a double.  Sanchez hit a double, Hoskins

Hit a homerun and the Brewers were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  

Hoskins committed an error.  

In the first Verdugo hit a three-run home-run giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first 

Hoskins hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the top of the third Torres hit a three-run double

And the lead was pushed to 6-1 Yankees.  In the fifth Cabrera hit an RBI single making it 7-1 and in the

Top of the sixth Judge hit a two-run home-run pushing the lead to 9-1.  Rizzo hit a two-run home-run

And it was 11-1 Yankees.  In the ninth Verdugo hit a sac fly and Stanton hit a three-run home-run

Extending the lead to 15-1.  In the bottom of the ninth Sanchez hit an RBI double and Ortiz hit an RBI

Double making it 15-3 and that was the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday

Afternoon.  

Milwaukee Brewers outlast the New York Yankees in wild and thrilling extra inning game

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.  The game took place

At American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 7-6 in 11 innings.  Luis Gil

Started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch great.  The bullpen did pitch well and the offense was led by

Juan Soto who had two hits.  

Gil pitched five innings giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Ron

Marinaccio pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout, Dennis Santana pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit

And he struck out one and Caleb Ferguson pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  Clay Holmes 

Pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Michael Tonkin took his third loss of the season

But first with the Yankees as he just got claimed off of Waivers.  He pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up 

Two hits and two runs.  

Colin Rea started for the Brewers and he pitched six innings giving up four hits and five runs.  He walked

Three and struck out four.  Hoby Milner pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and 

Elvis Peguero pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Bryan Hudson pitched an inning with two walks

And a strikeout and Jared Koenig pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a 

Strikeout.  He won his second game of the season.  

Soto had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Alex Verdugo had a hit, an RBI

And drew a walk.  Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk, Austin Wells drew a walk and Trent

Grisham had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI, Stanton hit a 

Double and Soto, Verdugo and Grisham each hit a home-run.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in 

Scoring position and left six men on base.  Cabrera had a stolen base and Verdugo was caught stealing.

Cabrera committed an error and Trevino had a passed ball.  

Sal Frelick drew a walk, William Contreras had a hit and Willy Adames had a hit, an RBI and drew a 

Walk.  Rhys Hoskins had a hit, Blake Perkins had a hit and two RBI and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  

Brice Turang had two hits and drew a walk, Joey Ortiz had two hits and four RBI and Sanchez and 

Contreras each hit a double.  Ortiz and Perkins each hit a home-run.  The Brewers were 2-10 with 

Runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Turang had a stolen base.  

In the first Soto hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Verdugo hit a solo

Homerun and it was 2-0 Yankees.  In the bottom of the second Ortiz hit a two-run homerun and the game

Was tied.  In the bottom of the third Perkins hit a two-run home-run giving the Brewers a 4-2 lead.  

In the fourth Grisham hit a three-run home-run and the Yankees retook the lead at 5-4.  In the bottom of 

The sixth Ortiz hit a sac fly and the game was tied at five.  In the top of the tenth Stanton hit an RBI 

Double giving the Yankees a 6-5 lead.  In the bottom of the tenth Adames hit an RBI single and the game

Was tied once again at six.  In the bottom of the eleventh Ortiz hit an RBI walk-off single giving the

Brewers a 7-6 victory.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.
