New York Yankees shutout the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-0 on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 7-0.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Giancarlo Stanton had three hits and Gio Urshela had three RBI to lead the offense. 

German pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  German earned his second win of the season.  Michael King pitched two innings giving up a hit and he had two strikeouts. 

Dean Kremer lost his second game of the season pitching 4 1/3 innings and giving up ten hits and six runs with four strikeouts.  Shawn Armstrong pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one, Tyler Wells pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Tanner Scott pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits, Stanton had three hits and Gleyber Torres had two hits and an RBI.  Urshela had two hits and three RBI, Mike Ford had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had an RBI.  Clint Frazier had two hits and an RBI, Torres and Frazier each hit a double and Ford, Urshela and Frazier each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Trey Mancini had two hits, DJ Stewart drew a walk and Pedro Severino had a hit.  Ryan Mountcastle had a hit.  The Orioles were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the second Ford hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Torres hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 2-0.  Urshela hit a three-run homerun and it was 5-0 Yankees.  Hicks hit a sac fly in the fifth to push the lead to 6-0 and in the eighth Frazier hit a solo homerun to make it 7-0 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will finish their series on Thursday afternoon.   

New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles behind strong pitching and some power

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 5-1.  Corey Kluber started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  DJ LeMahieu, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres and Kyle Higashioka each had two hits. 

Kluber pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  He won his first game of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and Lucas Luetge pitched a perfect inning. 

Bruce Zimmerman took his third loss of the season pitching 3 2/3 innings and giving up nine hits and four runs.  He walked one and struck out three.  Dillon Tate pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout, Cole Sulser pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and Jay Flaa pitched 1 1/3 innings with two walks and a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had two hits and drew a walk, Stanton had two hits and an RBI and Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI, Torres had two hits and Higashioka had two hits and an RBI.  Roughned Odor had a hit and drew a walk.  LeMahieu and Torres each hit a double and Judge, Higashioka and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Torres was caught stealing. 

Cedric Mullins had a hit, Trey Mancini had a hit and drew a walk and DJ Stewart drew a walk.  Maikel Franco had two hits and an RBI, Austin Hays had a hit and drew a walk and Ryan Mountcastle had ah it.  Rio Ruiz had a hit, Mancini hit a double and the Orioles were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Hays had an outfield assist. 

In the first Urshela hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Judge hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Higashioka hit a solo homerun and it was 3-0 Yankees.  Urshela hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Franco hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the seventh Stanton hit a solo homerun making it a 5-1 game and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the third of four games on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees lose to the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 4-2.  Deivi Garcia made his first start of the year for the Yankees and he pitched well just didn’t get deep into the game.  Gio Urshela had two hits to lead the offense but they only managed four hits total. 

Garcia pitched four innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Garcia took his first loss of the season.  Lucas Luetge pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Darren O’Day pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Matt Harvey started for the Orioles and he pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts.  Harvey won his second game of the season.  Travis Lakins Sr. pitched an inning with a walk, Tanner Scott pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a run and three walks with a strikeout and Cesar Valdez earned his fifth save of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one.

Cedric Mullins had three hits and two RBI, Trey Mancini drew a walk and Maikel Franco had a hit.  Pedro Severino had two hits and drew a walk, Ryan Mountcastle had a hit and Freddy Galvis had a hit and an RBI.  Rio Ruiz drew a walk, Galvis, Mountcastle, Mullins and Franco each hit a double.  Mullins hit two homeruns and the Orioles were 0-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hays had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the first Mullins hit a solo homerun giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Galvis hit an RBI double pushing the lead to 2-0.  In the sixth Judge hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the sixth a balk made it 3-1 and in the seventh Mullins hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 4-1.  In the eighth Urshela hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2 but that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night. 

The New York Yankees can't complete the sweep of the Cleveland Indians

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cleveland Indians on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 7-3.  Jameson Taillon started and he pitched well in the beginning but had one bad inning.  The bullpen wasn’t good and the offense only produced six hits, with no one having more than a hit. 

Taillon pitched four innings giving up five hits and four runs with six strikeouts.  He took his second loss of the season.  Nick Nelson pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Luis Cessa pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts. 

Triston McKenzie started for the Indians and he pitched four innings giving up four hits and three runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Sam Hentges pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one and he won his first game of the season.  Cal Quantrill pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk, James Karinchak pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and Emmanuel Clase pitched a perfect inning. 

Clint Frazier drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Roughned Odor drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI.  Mike Ford had a  hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Mike Tauchman had a hit and drew a walk.  Tauchman hit a double and Urshela and Ford each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Cesar Hernandez had two hits, Jose Ramirez had a hit and an RBI and Eddie Rosario had a hit and an RBI.  Franmil Reyes had three hits and three RBI, Jordan Luplow had a hit and an RBI and Austin Hedges had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Luplow hit a double and F. Reyes hit a triple and a homerun.  The Indians were 5-9 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  F. Reyes had a stolen base and Naylor committed an error. 

In the fourth Urshela hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Ford hit a solo homerun to go back-to-back and make it 3-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Rosario hit an RBI single, Reyes hit a three-run homerun and the Indians grabbed a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Ramirez hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the sixth Luplow hit an RBI double and Hedges an RBI single making it a 7-3 game and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees took three of four in the series and will head to Baltimore to begin a four-game series on Monday night. 

New York Mets shutout the Washington Nationals

 

The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Sunday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Taijuan Walker started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The bullpen also pitched well and J.D. Davis led the offense with three hits and two RBI. 

Walker pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked three and struck out four and won his first game of the season.  Miguel Castro pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out three and Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect inning. 

Patrick Corbin started for the Nationals and he pitched four innings giving up seven hits and four runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Corbin lost his third game of the season.  Austin Voth pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out four and Tanner Rainey pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Pete Alonso had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Francisco Lindor had a hit and Davis had three hits and two RBI.  Michael Conforto had a hit, James McCann had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jonathan Villar had a hit.  Albert Almora Jr. drew a walk, Conforto hit a double and Davis and Alonso each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Villar and Nimmo were caught stealing and Villar was picked off.  Conforto had an outfield assist and Walker had a pickoff. 

Josh Harrison had a hit, Yadiel Hernandez had two hits and drew two walks and Victor Robles had a hit.  Corbin drew a walk, Andrew Stevenson had a hit and Robles hit a double.  The Nationals were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Harrison was picked off and Shwarber had an outfield assist.  Corbin had a pickoff. 

In the first Davis hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth McCann hit an RBI single and it was 3-0 Mets.  In the bottom of the fifth Alonso hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 4-0 and that would be the final score.   

New York Mets are routed by the Washington Nationals

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-1.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Pete Alonso had two hits to lead the offense. 

Stroman pitched four innings giving up eight hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out four and took his first loss of the season.  Stephen Tarpley pitched giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and he didn’t record an out, Robert Gsellman pitched three innings giving up a walk and he struck out two and Jacob Barnes pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with two strikeouts.

Joe Ross started for the Nationals and he pitched six innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts.  Ross won his second game of the season.  Kyle Finnegan pitched an inning with a strikeout, Sam Clay pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Paolo Espino pitched a perfect inning. 

Brandon Nimmo drew two walks, Francisco Lindor had a hit and Alonso had two hits.  Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and Jeff McNeil had a hit.  Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Conforto committed an error. 

Josh Harrison had a hit, Yadiel Hernandez had two hits and two RBI and Trea Turner had a hit.  Josh Bell drew a walk, Kyle Schwarber had two hits and an RBI.  Starlin Castro had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Alex Avila had an RBI and drew two walks and Andrew Stevenson had a hit and an RBI.  Joe Ross had a hit and an RBI, Victor Robles had a hit and the Nationals were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left 8 men on base. 

In the first Hernandez hit a sac fly to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the second Ross hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 2-0.  In the third Schwarber hit an RBI single and Castro hit an RBI single extending the lead to 4-0.  In the fourth Hernandez hit an RBI single and it was a 5-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Conforto hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Avila was hit by a pitch that brought a run home making it 6-1 and Stevenson grounded into a force out and a run scored pushing the score to 7-1 Nationals and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees earn third straight in Cleveland as Cole outduels Beiber

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 2-1.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  The Yankees offense didn’t do much but they were facing Shane Bieber. 

Cole pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with no walks and 11 strikeouts.  He picked up his third win of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and Jonathan Loaisiga picked up his first career save pitching 1 1/3 innings. 

Bieber pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and nine strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Bryan Shaw pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and James Karinchak pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Gio Urshela drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI and Clint Frazier drew a walk.  Roughned Odor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Judge hit a double and Hicks and Odor each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jose Ramirez had a hit, Eddie Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Roberto Perez had a hit and drew a walk.  Perez hit a double, Ramirez hit a triple and the Indians were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

In the bottom of the fourth Rosario hit an RBI single to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Hicks hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one and Odor hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  2-1 would be the final score. 

The Yankees have taken the first three games of the series and will look for the four-game sweep on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 5-3.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well after a horrible first inning.  The bullpen pitched great and Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with two homeruns. 

Montgomery pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge won his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one, Darren O’Day pitched a perfect inning and Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Aroldis Chapman picked up his fourth save of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Logan Allen started for the Indians and he pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Allen took his third loss of the season.  Phil Maton pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out three, Trevor Stephan pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Cal Quantrill pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout.  Emmanuel Clase pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.

Jordan Luplow had a hit, Cesar Hernandez drew a walk and Jose Ramirez had two hits and drew two walks.  Franmil Reyes had a hit and an RBI, Eddie Rosario had an RBI and Amed Rosario had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  F. Reyes and Luplow each hit a double and the Indians were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Luplow had an outfield assist. 

In the first Reyes hit an RBI double, Rosario hit an RBI ground out and Rosario hit an RBI single to give the Indians a 3-0 lead.  In the second Hicks hit a solo homerun and Odor hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at three.  In the third Stanton hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead and in the fifth Stanton hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 5-3 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday night.
