New York Yankees shutout the Toronto Blue Jays

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 1-0.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton each had two hits and a walk to lead the offense. 

Montgomery earned his third win of the spring pitching five innings and giving up a walk and four strikeouts.  Jhoulys Chacin pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts and Lucas Luetge pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two.  Luetge earned his first save of the spring. 

Thomas Hatch pitched two innings giving up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Ty Tice pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out one, Tommy Milone pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and an unearned run with two walks and two strikeouts and he took his first loss of the spring.  Francisco Liriano pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits, A.J. Cole pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Anthony Castro pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu drew a walk, Judge had two hits and drew a walk and Stanton had two hits and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had an RBI, Chris Gittens drew a walk and Clint Frazier drew two walks.  Derek Dietrich had a hit and the Yankees were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base and committed an error, Gittens had a stolen base and Brito had an outfield assist.  McDowell had a pickoff and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Otto Lopez had a hit, Bo Bichette had a hit and Richard Urena had a hit.  Teoscar Hernandez drew a walk, Austin Martin drew a walk and Gabriel Moreno had a hit.  The Blue Jays were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Biggio had a stolen base and Lopez was caught stealing and picked off.  Biggio committed an error. 

In the fifth Torres hit an RBI groundout giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will be off on Thursday.  They have won eight games in a row. 

New York Yankees tame the Detroit Tigers

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday afternoon.  The game took place at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida and the final score was 7-4.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, gave up a couple of homeruns but the wind was blowing out.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched very well and Clint Frazier led the team with three hits. 

Cole won his second game of the spring pitching 3 2/3 innings and giving up three hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out five.  Loaisiga pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two walks and he struck out two, Louis Cessa pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Tyler Lyons pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.  Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning giving up an unearned run and he walked one and struck out one. 

Michael Fulmer started for the Tigers and he took his second loss of the spring.  He pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Derek Holland pitched two perfect innings with five strikeouts, Bryan Garcia pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout and Erasmo Ramirez pitched three innings giving up two walks and two strikeouts.  Drew Hutchison pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout.   

Luke Voit had a hit, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Josh Breaux drew two walks.  Frazier had three hits and two RBI, Thairo Estrada had a hit and an RBI and Gio Urshela had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Andrew Velazquez had a hit, Derek Dietrich had an RBI and drew a walk and Mike Tauchman had a hit and two RBI.  Max McDowell drew a walk, Velazquez hit a double and Frazier and Tauchman each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Estrada was caught stealing and picked off.  McDowell committed an error. 

Akil Baddoo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Jonathan Schoop had a hit and Renato Nunez had a hit and an RBI.  Derek Hill drew a walk, Jacoby Jones had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Victor Reyes had an RBI.  Grayson Greiner drew a walk, Schoop hit a double and Nunez, Jones and Baddoo each hit a homerun.  The Tigers were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Baddoo and Hill each had a stolen base.  Hutchison had a pickoff and Rogers had a passed ball. 

In the first Frazier hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nunez hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Jones hit a solo homerun and the Tigers grabbed a 2-1 lead.  In the third Urshela drew an RBI walk tying the game at two.  Dietrich was hit by a pitch and the Yankees had a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Frazier hit a solo homerun and Tauchman hit a two-run homerun extending the Yankees lead to 6-2.  In the bottom of the seventh Baddoo hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 6-3.  In the ninth Estrada hit an RBI single making it 7-3 and in the bottom of the ninth Reyes hit an RBI ground out cutting the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have won seven games in a row and will play the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin on Wednesday afternoon. 

New York Yankees double up the Philadelphia Phillies

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 4-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with two hits and two RBI. 

German pitched four innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Michael King earned his second win of the spring pitching three innings and giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Luis Garcia pitched an inning with a strikeout and Nestor Cortes pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and he earned his first save of the spring. 

Chase Anderson pitched three innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Archie Bradley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Hector Neris pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Jose Alvarado pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Hector Rondon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and he took his first loss of the spring, Zach Warren pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Cristopher Sanchez pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Andrew Velazquez drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and Aaron Hicks drew two walks.  Stanton had two hits and two RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Rob Brantly had a hit and an RBI.  Mike Ford drew a walk, Gio Urshela had a hit and Armando Alvarez had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI, Greg Allen had a hit and drew a walk and the Yankees were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Torres and Wells each had a stolen base. 

Andrew McCutchen had a hit, Rhys Hoskins had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Jean Segura had a hit and drew two walks, Luis Garcia had a hit and Luke Williams had a hit and an RBI.  Roman Quinn had a hit, he hit a double and Gregorius hit a double.  Hoskins hit a homerun and the Phillies were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Hoskins and Garcia each had a stolen base.  Moniak committed an error. 

In the fourth Sanchez hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Hoskins hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the seventh Stanton hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  Brantly hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 4-1.  In the ninth Williams hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have won six in a row and will play Detroit in Lakeland Tuesday afternoon.

New York Mets defeat the St. Louis Cardinals

 The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at

Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 7-5.  David Peterson started for the Mets 

and he did not pitch very well.  Michael Conforto had three hits and two RBI to lead the offense.  

Peterson pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.  

Aaron Loup earned his first win of the spring pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run with

a strikeout, Arodys Vizcaino pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Yennsy Diaz pitched

an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and 

Conforto had three hits and two RBI.  Pete Alonso had a hit and two RBI, Bruce Maxwell had a hit and 

Dom Smith had a hit and an RBI.  Luis Guillorme drew two walks, Patrick Mazeika had a hit and the

Mets were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Nimmo had a stolen base 

and Guillorme was caught stealing.  

In the first Jose Rondon hit a two-run single to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first

Conforto hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 2-1.  Smith hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In

the third Rondon hit a sac fly giving the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Matt Carpenter hit an RBI

double pushing the Cardinals lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Lindor drew an RBI walk to cut

the lead to 4-3 and Conforto hit an RBI single tying the game at four.  Alonso hit a two-run single

making it a 6-4 game in favor of the Mets.  J.D. Davis hit into a double play but a run scored pushing

their lead to 7-4.  In the ninth Justin Toerner hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 7-5 and that would be the 

final score.  

New York Mets blow late lead and lose to the Washington Nationals

 The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Saturday.  The game took place at

The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  Jordan 

Yamamoto started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets offense only managed five hits and no one

had more then a hit.  

Yamamoto pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Daniel Zamora pitched

to two batters and retired them both, Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Jeurys 

Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and a strikeout.  Miguel Castro

pitched a perfect inning, Drew Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Ryley

Gilliam pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with one being earned.  He took his

second loss of the spring and also got charged with his first blown save.  

Jose Peraza had a hit, J.D. Davis had a hit and James McCann had a hit.  Jonathan Villar had a hit, 

Kevin Pillar drew a walk and Albert Almora Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  Almora Jr. hit a double and 

the Mets were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Villar committed two

errors and Vientos also committed an error.  

In the first McCann reached on a throwing error and two runs scored giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  

In the bottom of the first Josh Bell hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the sixth Bell reached on 

a fielding error and a run scored tying the game at two.  In the seventh a wild pitch gave the Mets a 

3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth a ground out scored a run to tie it at three.  Yasmany Tomas hit an

RBI single to give the Nationals the 4-3 walk-off win.  

The Mets record on the spring is now 5-5 and they will take on the St. Louis Cardinals at home in Port

St. Lucie on Sunday afternoon.  

New York Yankees rally for victory over the Toronto Blue Jays

 New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.  The game took place at Dunedin, Florida 

and the final score was 5-1.  The Yankees had a furious ninth inning rally to win the game.  Deivi Garcia 

started the game for the Yankees and he pitched well.  There was no real offensive star for the Yankees.  

Garcia pitched three innings giving up one hit and one unearned run.  He walked two and struck out two.  

Lucas Luetge pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Asher Wojciechowski pitched two innnings 

giving up a walk and Nick Nelson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Nick 

Goody picked up the win, his first of the spring pitching 2/3 of an inning and walking two and striking out

one.  Glenn Otto pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.  

Mike Tauchman had a hit, Estevan Florial had a hit and Luke Voit drew a walk.  Anthony Seigler had a

hit, Chris Gittens drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Thomas Milone had an RBI and drew a walk,

Hoy Jun Park had an RBI and drew a walk and Max McDowell had a hit and three RBI.  Tyler Wade 

had a hit, Armando Alvarez drew a walk and Wade and McDowell each hit a double.  The Yankees were

2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Wade and Florial each had a stolen

base and Greg Allen committed an error.  

In the second Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit an RBI double to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Milone

drew an RBI walk, Park drew an RBI walk and McDowell hit a three-run double to give the Yankees a

5-1 lead and that would be the final score.  

The Yankees have won five straight spring games and will take on the Philadelphia Phillies from

George M. Steinbrenner Field on Monday afternoon.

New York Yankees defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 7-5.  Corey Kluber started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Aroldis Chapman, Justin Wilson, Luis Cessa all had good outings.  DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Hicks led the offense with a couple of hits each. 

Kluber pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out two and earned his first victory of the spring.  Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Darren O’Day pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts and Wilson pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Cessa earned his first save of the spring pitching an inning with a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had two hits and three RBI, Socrates Brito had a hit and an RBI and Hicks had two hits and an RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and Ryan LaMarre had a hit and two RBI.  Hicks hit a double, LeMahieu, LaMarre and Brito each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Duran was caught stealing and Peraza committed an error. 

In the first Hicks hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second LeMahieu hit a three-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-0.  In the third Troy Stokes hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1.  Erik Gonzalez hit an RBI ground out in the fourth cutting the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth Bryan Reynolds hit a solo homerun making it a 4-3 game.  In the seventh LaMarre hit a two-run homerun pushing the Yankees lead to 6-3.  In the eighth Rodolfo Castro hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 6-5.  In the eighth Brito hit a solo homerun making it a 7-5 game and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will head to Dunedin, Florida to take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.
