New York Yankees win their sixth straight game



The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-5.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he pitched pretty well but was pulled early in the game.  The Yankees bullpen for the most part did a good job.  Rob Refsnyder, Gary Sanchez and Mark Teixeira each had two hits. 

Pineda pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs and he struck out two, Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and earned his fifth win of the season and Tommy Layne pitched to one batter and retired him.  Tyler Clippard pitched an inning with a walk, Dellin Betances saved his 10th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

Ian Snell pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts and he lost his eighth game of the season.  Ryan Garton pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Kevin Jepsen pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and Justin Marks pitched three innings walking five and striking out two.  Steve Geltz pitched an inning walking two batters.

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk, Refsnyder had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Sanchez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Starlin Castro had a hit and drew two walks, Teixeira had two hits, four RbI and drew two walks and Chase Headley had a hit.  Tyler Austin drew two walks, Aaron Judge drew two walks and Refsnyder and Teixeira each hit a double.  Sanchez and Teixeira each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Sanchez had a pickoff at second base. 

Logan Forsythe had a hit and drew a walk, Kevin Kiermaier had two hits and drew a walk and Evan Longoria had a hit.  Logan Morrison had three hits and two RBI, Steven Souza Jr. had two hits and two RBI and drew a walk and Corey Dickerson had two hits.  Bobby Wilson had a hit and an RBI, Dickerson and Morrison each hit a double and Morrison and Souza Jr. each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Dickerson was picked off and Kiermaier had two outfield assists. 

In the first Refsnyder hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Sanchez hit a solo homerun and it was 2-0 Yankees.  A wild pitch made it 3-0 Yankees still in the third.  In the fourth Morrison hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  Souza Jr. h it a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the bottom of the fourth Teixeria hit a grand-slam to make it 7-2 Yankees.  In the sixth Souza Jr. hit an RBI single to make it 7-3 Yankees.  Wilson hit an RBI single in the sixth to cut the lead to 7-4.  In the ninth Morrison hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-5 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have won six straight and will go for their seventh straight on Saturday evening.   

The New York Mets get past the Atlanta Braves with a late rally



The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.  The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 6-4.  Robert Gsellman started for the Mets and he pitched just ok, the bullpen was good.  Yoenis Cespedes and Curtis Granderson each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Gsellman pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Jim Henderson pitched giving up two hits without recording an out, Josh Smoker pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Hansel Robles picked up his sixth win of the season pitching an inning and walking two with a strikeout.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one with two strikeouts and earned his 48th save of the season. 

Julio Teheran pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Ian Krol pitched an inning with a strikeout, Mauricio Cabrera pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and four runs with three of them being earned and three walks.  Jose Ramirez pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out both batters and Chaz Roe pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk, Cespedes had two hits and an RBI and Granderson had two hits, three RBI and drew two walks.   Kelly Johnson had a hit and an RBI, Jay Bruce drew a walk and Michael Conforto had an RBI.  Alejandro De Aza drew a walk, Cabrera hit a double and Johnson hit a double.  Granderson hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Adonis Garcia had two hits and an RBI, Freddie Freeman had a hit and Matt Kemp had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Nick Markakis had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks, Tyler Flowers had a hit and Jace Peterson had two hits.  Dansby Swanson had three hits and drew a walk, Peterson and Garcia each hit a double and Kemp hit a homerun.  The Braves were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Kemp had a stolen base and Swanson committed an error. 

In the second Kemp hit a solo homerun to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Garcia hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.  Markakis hit a two run single still in the fifth and it was 4-0 Braves.  Granderson hit a two run homerun in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-2.  Cespedes hit a sac fly in the eighth to cut the lead to 4-3.  Granderson hit an RBI single to tie the game at four still in the eighth.  Johnson hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 5-4 lead in the eighth.  Conforto was hit by a pitch still in the eighth and it was 6-4 Mets which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night. 

New York Yankees keep up their winning ways in win over the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch that well but the bullpen did.  Brian McCann had three hits and Tyler Austin and Brett Gardner each had two hits. 
Sabathia pitched four innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He didn't walk a batter and struck out four.  Jonathan Holder pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Chasen Shreve pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Blake Parker pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Kirby Yates pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tommy Layne pitched to one batter striking him out and earning his second win of the season. 
Alex Cobb pitched six innings giving up nine hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He struck out a batter.  Brad Boxberger pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Danny Farquhar pitched an inning walking one and striking out two, Enny Romero pitched 2/3 of an inning retiring both batters and Erasmo Ramirez took his 11th loss of the season giving up a hit and a run. 
Gardner had two hits, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  McCann had three hits and two RBI, Austin had two hits and an RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit.  McCann hit two homeruns and Austin hit a homerun which was a walk off homerun.  The Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 
Logan Forsythe had two hits, Kevin Kiermaier had four hits and two RBI and Evan Longoria had a hit.  Alexei Ramirez had a hit, Steven Souza Jr. had three hits and two RBI and Richie Shaffer had a hit and drwe a walk, Kiermaier hit two homeruns and Souza Jr. hit two homeruns.  The Rays were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Cobb committed an error. 
In the first Kiermaier hit a solo homerun to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Gregorius hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  A throwing error allowed Ellsbury to score and give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In teh second Souza Jr. hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  McCann hit a solo homerun in the second to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the third Kiermaier hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the fourth McCann hit a solo homerun and the Yankees took back the lead at 4-3.  Souza Jr. hit a solo  homerun in the sixth to tie the game at four.  In the ninth Austin hit a walk off homerun to give the Yankees a 5-4 win. 
The Yankees have now won five games in a row and the two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

New York Yankees complete the sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-0.  Bryan Mitchell started for the Yankees and pitched well and Luis Severino pitched great out of the bullpen.  Starlin Castro hit a homerun and Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner each had two hits. 

Mitchell pitched 5+ innings giving up no runs on four hits.  He walked two and struck out two and earned his first win of the season.  Severino pitched three innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and Tyler Clippard earned his second save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Marcus Stroman pitched five innings giving up seven hits and two runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  He lost his seventh game of the season.  Joe Biagini pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts and Roberto Osuna pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Gardner had two hits, Ellsbury had two hits and Castro had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a walk, Mark Teixeira drew a walk and Brian McCann had a hit and an RBI.  Chase Headley had a hit, Tyler Austin had a hit and Gregorius hit a double.  Ellsbury hit two doubles and Castro hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Headley was caught stealing. 

Devon Travis had two hits, Josh Donaldson drew a walk and Jose Bautista had a hit.  Troy Tulowitzki had two hits, Melvin Upton Jr. drew a walk and Kevin Pillar drew a walk.  Tulowitzki hit two doubles and Travis hit a double.  The Blue Jays were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Travis committed an error. 

In the third Castro hit a homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  McCann hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 still in the third and that would be all the scoring in the game. 

The Yankees swept the three game series and are right in the thick of the playoff race now.  They will remain home to face the Tampa Bay Ray for four games beginning on Thursday night.   

Yankees hold on to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays in thrilling fashion



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-6.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and pitched well and the bullpen was up and down but held on to get the win.  Chase Headley and Tyler Austin each had two RBI to lead the offense. 

Cessa pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  James Pazos gave up a hit to the only batter that he faced, Adam Warren pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Tommy Layne gave up a run and a walk without recording an out.  Ben Heller gave up a hit and a walk, Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and struck him out and Dellin Betances pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Blake Parker earned his first save of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. 

Aaron Sanchez pitched seven innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Jason Grilli pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and four runs with two walks and a strikeout and he lost his fifth game of the season.  Bo Schultz pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Jacoby Ellsbury drew two walks, Gary Sanchez had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI, , Brian McCann had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Headley had a hit and two RBI.  Aaron Judge had a hit, Austin had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Gregorius hit a triple.  Mccann, Austin and Headley each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Jose Bautista had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Josh Donaldson drew a walk and Edwin Encarnacion had two hits and two RBI.  Russell Martin had a hit and drew a walk, Troy Tulowitzki had a hit and Dioner Navarro drew a walk.  Michael Saunders had a hit, Melvin Upton Jr. had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Kevin Pillar had three hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Justin Smoak drew a walk, Devin ravis had a hit and Pillar hit a double.  Encarnacion hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Travis committed an error and Bautista had an outfield assist. 

In the first Encarnacion hit a solo homerun to give the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth McCann hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the first Bautista hit an RBI single to give the Jays a 2-1 lead.  Austin hit a two run homerun in the seventh and the Yankees had a 3-2 lead.  In the eighth Pillar hit a two run double to give the Blue Jays back the lead at 4-3.  Gregorius hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth to tie the score at four.  Castro hit a sac fly and Headley hit a two run homerun and it was 7-4 Yankees still in the eighth.  In the ninth the Blue Jays cut the score to 7-6 but that was how the game ended.  Encarnacion hit an RBI single and Upton Jr. hit an RBI single. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday night with the Yankees looking to sweep.

The New York Mets shutout the Cincinnati Reds



The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 5-0.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and he pitched great, the bullpen was good as well.  Wilmer Flores had three hits and Matt Reynolds had three hits. 

Colon pitched six innings giving up five hits and no runs with a walk and he struck out two.  Colon won his 13th game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two and Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 innings. 

Robert Stephenson pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  He lost his first game of the season.  Wandy Peralta pitched to two batters and retired them both, Alfredo Simon pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and Keyvius Sampson pitched an inning striking out one.  Ross Ohlendorf pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Alejandro De Aza had an RBI, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Flores had three hits.  Kelly Johnson had a hit and an RBI, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and drew a walk and James Loney had a hit.  Reynolds had three hits and two RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Flores hit a double.  Reynolds and Johnson hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-4 with runners in scoring position and left four  men on base. 

Jose Peraza had two hits, Joey Votto had a hit and drew a walk and Brandon Phillips had a hit.  Scott Schebler had a hit, Eugenio Suarez had a hit and Tucker Barnhart had a hit.  Hernan Iribarren had a hit, Barnhart hit a double and Iribarren hit a triple and the Reds were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Duvall had an outfield assist. 

In the third Reynolds hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Johnson hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 2-0.  In the seventh Reynolds hit an RBI single and the lead was 3-0.  Cabrera hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0 and De Aza hit a sac fly to make it 5-0 still in the seventh.  That would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.   

The New York Yankees win second in a row behind a strong Masahiro Tanaka



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched well and the bullpen pitched pretty well.  Jacoby Ellsbury led the offense with three hits and three RBI and Tyler Austin had two hits and two RBI. 

Tanaka pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up two runs on seven hits.  He walked three and struck out four and earned his 12th win of the season.  Jonathan Holder pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a run and two walks, Ben Heller gave up a hit and Tommy Layne pitched to one batter and retired him.  Tyler Clippard pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dellin Betances saved his ninth game of the season.  He pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

R.A. Dickey pitched four innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  He lost his 14th game of the season.  Francisco Liriano pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Brett Cecil pitched a perfect inning and Joaquin Benoit pitched an inning walking one and struck out three. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Ellsbury had three hits and three RBI and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Chase Headley drew a walk, Starlin Castro had a hit and Austin Romine drew a walk.  Austin had two hits and two RBI, Austin hit two doubles and Ellsbury hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Headley had a stolen base and Gardner had an outfield assist.

The Yankees have won two games in a row.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.   

New York Yankees avoid sweep in Baltimore



The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 5-2.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and pitched ok, the bullpen was great.  Austin Romine had two RBI. 

Pineda pitched four innings giving up two runs on five hits.  He walked two and struck out four.  Luis Severino pitched two innings giving up two walks and two strikeouts and he earned his second win of the season, Tommy Layne pitched to one batter retiring him and Adam Warren pitched to two batters retiring them both.  Tyler Clippard pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two and he saved his eighth game of the season. 

Wade Miley pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with four walks and four strikeouts and he suffered his 12th loss of the season.  Vance Worley pitched two innings giving up a hit and three walks with a strikeout, Oliver Drake pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a unearned run and he struck out one and Donnie Hart pitched to two batters and retired them both. 

Brett Gardner had an RBI and drew two walks, Rob Refsnyder had a hit and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez drew two walks.  Headley had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Romine had a hit and two RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Tyler Austin had a hit, Ronald Torreyes drew a walk and the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Adam Jones had two hits, Pedro Alvarez had a hit and an RBI and Manny Machado had a hit.  Mark Trumbo drew two walks, Chris Davis had two hits and drew a walk and Steve Pearce had an RBI and drew a walk.  Alvarez hit a double and the Orioles were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Trumbo committed an error. 

In the first Headley hit an RBI single and Romine hit a two run single to make it 3-0.  Headley hit an RBI single in the third to make it 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Pearce hit an RBI groundout to make it 4-1 Yankees.  Alvarez hit an RBI double in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth Gardner hit a sac fly to give the Yankees an insurance run and a 5-2 lead.  The final score would be 5-2. 

The Yankees salvaged the final game of the series and will head home to start a three game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday afternoon. 

New York Mets take the series from the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Sunday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and pitched very well and the bullpen did their job.  Curtis Granderson had three RBI and Wilmer Flores and Jay Bruce each had two hits. 

Lugo won his third game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and a run.  He walked none and struck out four.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Reynaldo Lopez pitched four innings giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out three and lost his third game of the season.  Mat Latos pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Trevor Gott pitched a perfect inning and Matt Grace pitched to one batter and retired him.  Rafael Martin pitched to one batter and retired him and Sean Burnett also pitched to one batter and retired him.

Trea Turner had a hit, Jayson Werth had two hits and Daniel Murphy had a hit.  Anthony Rendon had a hit, Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and Daniel Espinosa had a hit and an RBI.  Lopez had a hit, Brian Goodwin had a hit and it was a double.  Espinosa hit a homerun and the Nationals were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Turner had an outfield assist. 

In the first Granderson hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Espinosa hit a solo homerun in the second to tie the game at one.  In the third Granderson hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.  In the sixth Bruce hit a two run homerun and it was 5-1 Mets which would be the final score. 

The Mets took two out of three in this series and will head to Cincinnati to face the Reds.

Tanner Roark pitched five innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  He lost his eighth game of the season.  Matt Belisle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Blake Treinen pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Sean Burnett pitched to one batter and retired him.  Rafael Martin pitched to one batter and retired him and Matt Grace pitched to two batters and retired them both.

Jayson Werth had two hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and Bryce Harper had a hit and drew two walks.  Anthony Rendon had a hit and an RBI, Wilson Ramos drew a walk and Ryan Zimmerman had two hits.  Rendon hit a double and the Nationals were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Harper was caught stealing. 

In the first Rendon hit a sac fly to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gradnerson hit a two run single to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Loney hit an RBI double to make it a 3-1 game and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday night.

The New York Yankees are shutout again in Baltimore



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 2-0.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen did a good job.  The Yankees offense didn't do much of anything. 

Sabathia pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with only one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out one and lost his 12th game of the season.  Adam Warren pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Tyler Clippard pitched a scoreless inning giving up two walks and he struck out two. 

Kevin Gausman pitched six innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  He won his seventh game of the season.  Mychal Givens pitched an inning giving up a hit, Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Zach Britton pitched an inning striking out one and he saved his 40th game of the season. 

Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Brian McCann had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Judge committed an error. 

Adam Jones had two hits and an RBI, Steve Pearce drew two walks and Manny Machado had a hit.  Mark Trumbo had a hit and drew a walk, Chris Davis had a hit and J.J. Hardy had two hits and drew a walk.  Nolan Reimold drew a walk, Michael Bourn had a hit and Machado, Trumbo and Hardy each hit a double.  Jones hit a homerun and the Orioles were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the fourth Davis hit an RBI single to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Jones hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of the series on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will try and salvage the sweep before returning home on Monday to face the Blue Jays.

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 8-0.  Chad Green started for the Yankees but left with an injury in the second inning.  The Yankees bullpen was both good and bad and the offense didn't do anything. 

Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts and he took his fourth loss of the season.  Nick Goody pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Kirby Yates pitched two innings giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Luis Severino pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Blake Parker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Dylan Bundy pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  He won his eighth game of the season.  Donnie Hart pitched 1 1/3 innings retiring all of the batters that he faced, Vance Worley pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Tommy Hunter pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and Gary Sanchez drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira drew a walk, Chase Headley drew a walk and the Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gardner was picked off. 

Adam Jones had two hits and an RBI, Pedro Alvarez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Manny Machado had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Chris Davis had a hit and two RBI, Mark Trumbo had two hits and an RBI and Matt Wieters had a hit.  J.J. Hardy had a hit, Ryan Flaherty had a hit and Hardy, Wieters and Flaherty each hit a double.  Alvarez, Davis, Trumbo and Machado each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Wieters had a pickoff. 

In the second Jones hit an RBI single, Alvarez hit a two run homerun, Davis hit a two runs homerun and Trumbo hit a solo homerun to give the Orioles a 6-0 lead.  In the fourth Machado hit a two run homerun and it was 8-0 Orioles which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.   

The New York Mets lose to the Washington Nationals

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-1.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well, the offense couldn't get much going. 

Syndergaard pitched seven innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  He lost his eighth game of the season.  Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Jerry Blevins pitched giving up two hits and two runs without recording an out and Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

A.J. Cole pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  He won his first game of the season.  Marc Rzepczynski pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two, Koda Glover pitched an inning striking out two and Oliver Perez pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Mark Melancon pitched an inning giving up a hit and he saved his 38th game of the season. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Jay Bruce had a hit and Wilmer Flores drew a walk.  Alejandro De Aza had a hit, Rene Rivera drew a walk and Cabrera hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Trea Turner had two hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and drew a walk and Bryce Harper had two hits and an RBI.  Anthony Rendon had a hit and two RBI, Wilson Ramos had two hits and an RBI and Harper hit two doubles.  The Nationals were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Turner had two stolen bases and Murphy and Harper each had a stolen base. 

In the first Harper hit a sac fly to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Ramos hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Cabrera hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the ninth Rendon hit a two run single to push the lead to 4-1 and that would be the final score.
