The New York Mets are blown out by the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-1.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and he didn't pitch well.  Yoenis Cespedes and Asdrubal Cabrera each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Colon pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits nad three runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  He took his third loss of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts, Antonio Bastardo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Logan Verrett pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two walks and he struck out one.  Jerry Blevins pitched an inning with two walks and he struck out one and Jim Henderson pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Gio Gonzalez won his third game of the season pitching 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Felipe Rivero pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Shawn Kelley pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Sammy Solis pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Cespedes had two hits and an RBI and Neil Walker drew a walk.  Cabrera had two hits, Eric Campbell had a hit which was a double and Cespedes hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Jayson Werth had two hits and drew three walks, Bryce Harper drew four walks and Daniel Murphy had a hit and two RBI.  Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and drew a walk, Anthony Rendon had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks, Danny Espinosa had an RBI and drew a walk and Gonzalez had a hit.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and two RBI, Werth hit a double and the Nationals were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Werth and Rendon each had a stolen base and Rendon was caught stealing. 

In the third Murphy  hit an RBI single to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Rendon hit a two run single and it was 3-1 Nationals.  In the seventh Murphy hit a sac fly to push the score to 4-1 Nats.  Espinosa drew an RBI walk and in the ninth Ramos hit a two run single and the score was 7-1 which would be the final score. 

The teams have split the first two games of the series with the final game to be played on Thursday night.   

The New York Mets shutout the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-0.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched great and the bullpen was good.  Curtis Granderson had two hits and the team only had four hits. 

Syndergaard pitched seven innings giving up five hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out ten and won his fourth game of the season.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up no hits and no runs with two strikeouts and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and saved his 13th game of the season. 

Max Scherzer pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and ten strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Oliver Perez pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one and Felipe Rivero pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Granderson had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks, Michael Conforto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Kevin Plawecki had a hit.  Granderson and Conforto each hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Ben Revere had a hit, Jayson Werth had a hit and Daniel Murphy had a hit.  Ryan Zimmerman had a hit, Anthony  Rendon had a hit and Zimmerman hit a double.  The Nationals were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Revere was caught stealing. 

In the first Granderson hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Conforto hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  The final score was 2-0 as the Mets took the first game of three in the first place showdown. 

The New York Yankees salvage the final game in Arizona



The New York Yankees defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona and the final score was 4-2.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and pitched brilliantly.  The Yankees went to their big three in the bullpen and it worked to nail down the victory.  Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits and two walks and Brett Gardner had two hits and two RBI. 

Eovaldi pitched six innings giving up one hit and one run.  He had no walks and five strikeouts and won his fourth game of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up two walks and he struck out two, Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman struck out one and earned his fourth save of the season. 

Shelby Miller lost his fifth game of the season pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Andrew Chafin pitched to one batter and got him out, Jake Barrett pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out three and Zac Curtis pitched 1/3 of an inning striking out one.  Evan Marshall pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and had a strikeout. 

Ellsbury had three hits, an RBI and drew two walks, Gardner had two hits, two RBI and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  Brian McCann had a hit and drew two walks, Starlin Castro had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Chase Headley had two hits, Ellsbury and McCann each hit a double and Gardner hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 

Jean Segura had a hit, Phil Gosselin drew a walk and Paul Goldschmidt had an RBI and drew a walk.  Chris Owings had a hit and an RBI, Segura hit a double and Owings hit a homerun and the Diamondbacks were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

In the first Gardner hit a two run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Goldschmidt hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the sixth Ellsbury hit an RBI single to make it a 3-1 game.  In the eighth Owings hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2 and in the ninth a wild pitch made it 4-2 which was the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three but salvaged the final game of the series.  The Yankees will head to Oakland to start a four game series on Thursday night.   

The New York Yankees fall in Arizona as Zack Greinke looks good



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona and the final score was 5-3.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he wasn't very good and the bullpen was good.  Starlin Castro had two of the teams six hits. 

Pineda pitched five innings giving up nine hits and five runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  He lost his fifth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Kirby Yates pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Greinke pitched seven innings giving up five hits and three runs with no walks and seven strikeouts.  Greinke won his fourth game of the season.  Daniel Hudson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Brad Ziegler pitched an inning walking one and striking out one.  Ziegler saved his eighth game of the season. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI, Castro had two hits and an RBI and Chase Headley drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Dustin Ackley had a hit.  Carlos Beltran had an RBI, Castro hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Headley and Pineda each committed an error and McCann had a passed ball.  Pineda had a pickoff. 

Jean Segura had two hits, Chris Herrmann had a hit and Paul Goldschmidt had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jake Lamb had a hit and two RBI, Welington Castillo had a hit and an RBI and Chris Owings had a hit.  Nick Ahmed had two hits and an RBI, Owings hit a triple and Lamb hit a homerun.  The Diamondbacks were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Goldschmidt had two stolen bases and Castillo had a stolen base.  Segura was picked off. 

In the second Castro hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Ahmed hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the third Goldschmidt hit an RBI single to make it 2-1 Diamondbacks.  Castillo hit an RBI single and it was 3-1 Diamondbacks.  In the fifth Lamb hit a two run homerun to push the lead to 5-1.  In the eighth Beltran hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 5-2.  Ellsbury hit an RBI single and it was 5-3 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have lost the first two games of the series and will look to grab the final game on Wednesday night and avoid the three game sweep.

The New York Mets are swept in Colorado



The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 4-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok and the bullpen was pretty good.  Eric Campbell had two hits as the only Mets player with a multi-hit game. 

deGrom pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Jim Henderson took his second loss of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one and Jeurys Familia pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Tyler Chatwood pitched seven innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  He won his fifth game of the season.  Boone Logan pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Jake McGee pitched an inning giving up a hit and earning his 12th save of the season. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Yoenis Cespedes had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Walker drew a walk and Kevin Plawecki had a hit.  Campbell had two hits and drew a walk, deGrom had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Campbell and Lagares each hit a double.  Cespedes hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Charlie Blackmon drew a walk, Trevor Story had a hit and Carlos Gonzalez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Chatwood had a hit and Ryan Raburn had a hit and two RBI.  Gonzalez hit a double, Story hit a triple and Gonzalez and Raburn each hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the second Cespedes hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second LeMahieu hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the third deGrom hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the third Conforto hit an RBI single and it was 3-1 Mets.  In the sixth Gonzalez hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2 Mets and in the seventh Raburn hit a two run homerun and it was 4-3 Rockies.  The final score was 4-3. 

The Mets were swept in the three game series by the Rockies.  They will have an off day on Monday and then return home on Tuesday night for a big three game series with the Washington Nationals.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 7-4.  Logan Verrett started for the Mets and he was roughed up and out of the game pretty quickly.  The Mets bullpen did a good job and Neil Walker had three hits to lead the offense. 

Verrett pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and seven runs with three walks.  He took his first loss of the season, Hansel Robles pitched to one batter and retired him, Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jim Henderson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Addison Reed pitched an inning with a strikeout and Antonio Bastardo pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Eddie Butler pitched five innings giving up nine hits and four runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  He won his second game of the season.  Gonzalez Germen pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and he walked one, Boone Logan pitched to one batter and struck him out and Carlos Estevez pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Jake McGee pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and he earned his 11th save of the season. 

David Wright had two hits, Michael Conforto had a hit and Yoenies Cespedes had two hits.  Lucas Duda had two hits and an RBI, Walker had three hits and an RBI and Kevin Plawecki had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Juan Lagares had a hit, Rene Rivera had a hit and Duda, Cespedes and Wright each hit a double.  Walker hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Verrett committed an error. 

Charlie Blackmon had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Trevor Story had two hits and Nolan Arenado had a hit and an RBI.  Gerardo Parra had two hits, Mark Reynolds had a hit and drew a walk and DJ LeMahieu had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Tony Wolters had two hits and two RBI, Ryan Raburn had a hit and Story, Reynolds and Wolters each hit a double.  The Rockies were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  LeMahieu was caught stealing and Blackmon committed an error. 

In the first Arenado hit an RBI groundout to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead.  In the second Plawecki hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  LeMahieu hit an RBI single in the second to give the Rockies a 2-1 lead.  LeMahieu had an RBI walk in the third and the lead was pushed to 3-1, Wolters hit a two run double still in the third and it was 5-1 Rockies.  Blackmon hit a two run single in the third and the Rockies lead grew to 7-1.  In the fourth Walker hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the sixth Duda hit an RBI  single and the lead was cut to 7-3 and then Cabrera grounded into a double play and a run scored to make it a 7-4 game.  7-4 would be the final score. 

The Mets have lost three games in a row and will try and salvage the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Yankees close out good home stand with another win



The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he struggled.  The Yankees bullpen was pretty good again and they hit a couple of homeruns. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up eight hits and four runs.  He walked three and struck out seven.  Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Betances earned his first win of the season, Andrew Miller pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning earning his third save of the season. 

Miguel Gonzalez pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with five walks and a strikeout.  Dan Jennings pitched an inning giving up an unearned run, Zach Duke pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Matt Albers pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk.  Nate Jones pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Brett Gardner had three hits and drew a walk and Carlos Beltran had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira had a hit and drew a walk, Brian McCann had two hits and an RBI and Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI.  Dustin Ackley had an RBI and drew two walks, Didi Gregorius drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI.  Mark Teixeira and Chase Headley each hit a double.  Beltran and McCann each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Gardner had two stolen bases. 

Adam Eaton had a hit and two RBI, Austin Jackson had a hit and an RBI and Jose Abreu had a hit.  Todd Frazier had two hits and drew a walk, Melky Cabrera had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Brett Lawrie drew a walk.  Avisail Garcia had three hits and an RBI, Tyler Saladino had two hits and Cabrera hit two doubles and Garcia hit a double.  Eaton hit a homerun and the White Sox were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Garcia had a stolen base and Saladino was caught stealing.  Lawrie and Avila each committed an error. 

In the first Beltran hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Garcia hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the third Eaton hit a solo homerun to give the White Sox a 2-1 lead.  In the third Castro hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Ackley had an RBI walk and it was 3-2 Yankees.  In the fourth Eaton hit a sac bunt and the game was tied at three.  Jackson hit an RBI single to make it 4-3 White Sox.  In the sixth Beltran hit a two run homerun giving the Yankees back the lead at 5-4.  The White Sox tied the game at five in the seventh on a Cabrera RBI double.  In the seventh Headley hit an RBI double to break the tie and give the Yankees a 6-5 lead.  McCann hit a solo homerun in the eighth to extend the Yankees lead to 7-5 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three in this series and seven out of ten on the home stand.  They will now head to Arizona for a three game series that begins on Monday night.
