The New York Yankees walk-off with a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Shane Greene started and pitched great, Shawn Kelley gave up the lead and the Yankees walked off with a win in the ninth. 

Greene pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up no runs on three hits.  He walked two and struck out six.  Dellin Betances pitched 1/3 of an inning, Shawn Kelley pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and David Robertson picked up his third win of the season pitching a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

R.A. Dickey pitched  six innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out three.  Brett Cecil pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Brandon Morrow pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Aaron Sanchez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run and he took his second loss of the season. 

Derek Jeter had two hits and an RBI, Mark Teixeira had a hit and Chris Young had a hit.  Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk, Stephen Drew had two hits and an RBI and Francisco Cervelli had a hit.  Drew hit a double and Jeter hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Richardson had a stolen base and Jeter was caught stealing. 

Jose Reyes had two hits, Jose Bautista had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Edward Encarnacion drew a walk.  Munenori Kawasaki had a hit, Josh Thole had a hit and Bautista hit a homerun.  The Jays were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Lind committed an error. 

In the fifth Drew hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Jeter hit a solo homerun to make it 2-0 Yankees.  Bautista hit a two run homerun to tie the game in the eighth.  In the ninth Headley walked off with a fielding error on the first baseman which scored the winning run.  The Yankees won 3-2 and now have won two straight games.  The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

The New York Yankees lose another one as their season slips away



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 6-1.  Michael Pineda started and was pretty good.  The offense as usual didn't do much of anything and the bullpen wasn't great. 

Pineda pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five.  Josh Outman pitched 2/3 of an inning, Esmil rogers pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and Rich Hill didn't record an out and gave up two hits and a run.  David Phelps pitched 2/3 of an inning and walked one and David Huff pitched a perfect inning. 

Jake Odorizzi won his 11th game of the season pitching six innings and giving up five hits and a run.  Brandon Gomes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Jeff Beliveau pitched to one batter and retired him and Steve Geitz hit a batter and then was taken out after a lot of shouting took place.  C.J. Riefenhauser pitched an inning giving up a hit and Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Chase Headley had a hit and Chris Young had a hit.  Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and an RBI, Francisco Cervelli had two hits and John Ryan Murphy drew a walk.  Brendan Ryan had a hit and drew a walk, Young hit a double and the Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Antoan Richardson had a stolen base and Ryan and Pineda each committed an error. 

Ben Zobrist drew a walk, David DeJesus had a hit and Evan Longoria had a hit and an RBI.  James Loney had three hits, Nick Franklin had two hits and an RBI and Matt Joyce drew a walk.  Wil Myers had two RBI, Yunel Escobar had ahit and an RBI and Kevin Kiermaier drew a walk.  Ryan Hanigan drew a walk.  Franklin hit a double and the Rays were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the second Suzuki hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Zobrist reached on a missed catch error by Pineda and the game was tied at one.  In the sixth Escobar hit an RBI single to make it 2-1 Rays.  Longoria hit an RBI single to make it 3-1 in the seventh and Franklin hit an RBI single giving them the 4-1 lead.  A weird play made it 6-1 as two runners tagged up on a great catch by Ellsbury and scored but the runner on second left early and it wasn't reviewable so the call stood and it was 6-1 Rays.  6-1 was the final score and the Yankees will try and avoid the sweep on Wednesday night.

The New York Yankees offense doesn't show up again in 1-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Chris Capuano started and pitched well for the Yankees and the bullpen was good but gave up a walk-off hit.  The offense did nothing as usual. 

Capuano pitched six innings giving up no runs and two hits.  He walked four and struck out four.  Adam Warren pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Shawn Kelley pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Kelley took his sixth loss of the season. 

Alex Colome pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out four.  Steve Geltz pitched to one batter and retired him, Jeff Beliveau pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a strikeout and Kirby Yates pitched to one batter and retired him.  Joel Peralta pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out one and won his third game of the season. 

Martin Prado had two hits, Mark Teixeira had a hit and drew a walk and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  Ichiro Suzuki had a hit, John Ryan Murphy drew a walk and Brendan Ryan had a hit.  Suzuki hit a double and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner committed an error. 

Ben Zobrist had two hits and an RBI, Brandon Guyer had a hit and drew a walk and Evan Longoria drew a walk.  Wil Myers drew a walk, Logan Forsythe had a hit and James Loney had a hit.  Casali drew a walk, Matt Joyce drew a walk and the Rays were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 

The only run of the game was scored in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI walk-off single by Zobrist.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.   

The New York Mets lose to the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-5.  Jacob deGrom started and pitched well but the bullpen wasn't good.  Daniel Murphy, Travis d'Arnaud and Wilmer Flores each had two hits. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out thirteen batters.  Jeurys Familia pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a strikeout, Josh Edgin struck out the only batter that he faced and Jennry Mejia pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and struck out one. 

Jarred Cosart pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Mike Dunn pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up one hits and two unearned runs.  He walked one and struck out one, A.J. Ramos gave up a hit and a run with three walks and Sam Dyson won his third game of the season striking out the only batter that he faced.  Chris Hatcher pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Steve Cishek saved his 36th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk, Murphy had two hits and an RBI and d'Arnaud had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Lucas Duda drew two walks, Flores had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Curtis Granderson drew a walk.  Flores and d'Arnaud each hit a double adn the Mets were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Donovan Solano had a hit, Casey McGehee had a hit and Marcell Ozuna had a hit.  Justin Bour had two hits and drew a walk, Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits and two RBI and Jordany Valdespin had a hit and two RBI.  Jeff Mathis had two hits and an RBI, Cosart had a hit and Reed Johnson had an RBI.  Solano and Hechavarria each hit a double and the Marlins were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  McGehee committed an error and Ozuna had an outfield assist.

Flores hit a two run double in the first to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the seventh Valdespin hit a two run single to tie the game at two.  Johnson hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-2 Marlins.  In the bottom of the seventh Murphy hit an RBI single, d'Arnaud hit an RBI double and Granderson had an RBI walk to make it 5-3 Mets.  In the eighth Hechavarria hit a two run single and Mathis hit an RBI single to make it 6-5 Marlins and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets finally win a home game against the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field and the final score was 4-3.  Dillon Gee started for the Mets and pitched pretty well and the bullpen was good.  Eric Young Jr. and Juan Lagares each had two hits. 

Gee pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out four and earned his seventh win of the season.  Carlos Torres pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out one, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and Jennry Mejia pitched an inning giving up a hit and walking one with two strikeouts.  Mejia saved his 26th game of the season. 

Gio Gonzalez lost his 10th game of the season pitching 6 2/3 innings and giving up six hits and four runs with three of them earned.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Aaron Barrett pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Young Jr. had two hits, Lagares had two hits and an RBI and Lucas Duda had a hit and drew a walk.  Travis d'arnaud had a hit and two RBI, Curtis Granderson had a hit and d'Arnaud, Granderson and Lagares each hit a double.  The Mets were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Lagares had a stolen base and committed an error.  d'Arnaud committed an error. 

Denard Span had two hits, Anthony Rendon had three hits and an RBI and Adam LaRoche had a hit, an RBI and drew four walks.  Ian Desmond had a hit, Bryce Harper had a hit and Wilton Ramos had a hit and an RBI.  Nate Schierholtz had two hits, Rendon hit a double and a homerun and the Nationals were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Desmond and Span each had a stolen base.  Ramos committed an error and Harper had an outfield assist. 

In the first d'Arnaud hit a three run double to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.  In the third LaRoche hit an RBI single and Ramos hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2.  Rendon hit a solo homerun in the fourth, it was overturned on a replay review.  Lagares hit an RBI double in the fifth to make it 4-3 and that was the final score.  The two teams will play on Saturday afternoon.
